2481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 27, 2022, 12:32:03 PM
Are the Celtics giving up the playoffs this year?
Not sure with the Celtics now but hopefully they'll stil make it to the playoffs.
At 25-24 record, that is still doable. https://www.espn.ph/nba/table

They bumped their head now and got back to reality as Robert Williams will be untouchable for trade offers. That's good. But they said they are open for trades so who will they offer now? Schroder maybe?
Do you mean Schroder will be traded? He is not making a good salary, so for whom?

Or did you mean Schroder will get a bigger contract?
2482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: January 27, 2022, 11:33:57 AM
We can conclude that TNT and SMB are tough but there's some other teams too who could show some improvements too, somehow it's early to predict things. We'll just see it soon.

Don't forget about the Ginebra San Miguel,  they are still doing well under Brownlee as their import.

We have TNT and NLEX vs SMB vs BGSM.. these are good teams and one of them could win a championship if the conference will continue.  Also, not counting out the Hotshots, another great team but they are not in my top list though.
2483  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy low, Sell high? on: January 26, 2022, 11:17:08 PM
People are always panic buying and panic selling, because they are afraid, for being too careless on buying or selling. Those kind of people are just riding the hype, because their friends are making money in Bitcoin or in other cryptocurrency by "buying low, selling high" they also invested their money on it but doesn't have any idea on what price to buy.

They didn't even know the price volatility, all they know is that when you bought Bitcoin, it will continue to rise up and you could make money everyday, but it's not like that.
I just change Panic to normal, this gonna happen very often and that is because people often changed their mindset as well. if people were going to remain in panic, I don't think they will continue to invest in crypto, this is not for them.
Buy Low, Sell High...that gonna be a winning strategy but somehow many were still not consistent in doing this but instead, they follow what they feel and their emotions drive them to think about selling.
2484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: There is fear in the market, isn't it time to buy? on: January 26, 2022, 10:28:40 PM
Now there is a fear of investors in the market. Bitcoin has lost over 50% of its ATH since its recent drop, the fear index hit 13, and even altcoins that have held up well on this downtrend like NEAR, LINK, LUNA, FTM have also lost value. Short positions increase Everyone is in a panic, many fix losses and sell....

Does this mean that we have felt the bottom and there will be a rebound soon? Is it time to buy?
I simply don't just believe in them, this fear index isn't reliable for me. If this is only our basis, people were gonna be afraid to invest, honestly.
Bottom? Not yet and not now...in fact, we're seeing that Bitcoin is trying to push back higher again, it is really slow but at least we see some improvements and this sends a message that we are not going to the bottom line unlike in the previous bear market.
Not only the mentioned coins are in the decline, all of it now but this seems to be just a correction and surely it is done later.
2485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My 5 months newbie experience on: January 25, 2022, 10:51:05 PM
Congratulations.  And you are still growing rapidly you are the type of member beginners can learn from ,ride on with this good way you have choosed for yourself and your hard work is paying you that's nice.
I am certain we all have something to learn from each other, it doesn't matter the rank a newbie could have knowledge or skills that a legendary member may not and that will be the big answer to his problem.
That is why we must all be open to learning continuously, as we journey in life and the crypto space.
That should be the thing to do. We don't care about the ranks, what really matters a lot is how much we learn from here and besides, ranks can't save us. Having here in this forum gives us a chance to further enhance our knowledge and skills, not just about earning merits or going to ranks up but instead, we are also developing our minds especially in making decisions that most people had failed. And I can't even deny myself that I was on the situation before until such time I'd learn from others and through experience.
2486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can I control my gambling addiction ?? on: January 24, 2022, 09:42:08 PM
7-8 in addiction is something very hard to stop, honestly. But there is only one thing it helps you out from such addiction and to make use of other stuff to please you. And from that way, your mind went busy to something, not in gambling anymore. That probably is not instant, but at least making your mind out of gambling would change your habit gradually. And this also becomes possible if you will include your family and of course, it needs commitment or else, that still be useless.
2487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do we call it bear market on: January 24, 2022, 09:03:29 PM
I m still watching closing trying to know if this is the bear market or market corrections. I don't want to panic and sell.
Lol.

What do you think
Not this time, I was about to call the market when Bitcoin drops below $30 and it was fortunate to see that Bitcoin is able to recover this time, were up at 5.55% at this post, it sounds is going to stop the declines...I just hope this could be able to sustain a little bit longer and then it reaches back to $40,000 and so those who bought BTC last week had the chance to make a profit.
As I bought some BTC at $38,000, I may that closer to gain as well. It probably it ease the feeling of those who buy early when the decline starts.
2488  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How bitcoin has employed more African youths. on: January 24, 2022, 08:41:20 PM
People from the 3rd world countries (not just from Africa) will find their way to survive and improve their living without relying on the government proposal and employment strategies. People from there had become hopeless when they just wait for the government's help but instead, they make their own to find a job anywhere, and to be a part of crypto/Bitcoin is really in big help for them. However, their incapability of doing this like having no gadgets and internet connection rejects those chances. That is why only a few people had made it while the majority are still pushing their lives to survive.
2489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I invested $100 for 18 years for my new born nephew on: January 24, 2022, 01:34:51 PM
What do you think, guys? Will this amount be enough for his better study costs? Though if they keep it for 10 years, at least that's enough for me. What do you think, guys? What will be the price of this $100 after 18 years?
I bought bitcoin at an average price of $35,546,.

If I could I would invest a few thousand dollars in bitcoin and leave it for 10 years but it doesn't go with my features.  I think Bitcoin can be made more profitable by selling at a higher price per bull run and buying at a lower price in the bear market without leaving it in the wallet for ten years.  After each bitcoin halving the price of bitcoin rises at the expected rate and the market remains bare the year after the bull run.  This is usually the case till now.  So when I have the opportunity to increase my bitcoin amount without any new investment then why don't I take that opportunity?

Well, holding for 18 years, 20 years doesn't make sense for me either. Honestly, I can hold that long and can't be profitable. And just like you, selling our coins during Bullrun is a healthy idea than just holding for a certain time. As we never know what will happen 18 years from now, we can neither speculate it right, and we can't be sure as well that we got a profit or maybe, we just lost our money.
What do I think about holding for that long? We have missed a lot of chances to gain more profit and we are facing high risks than just holding short-term.
2490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Butler ordered by WBO on: January 24, 2022, 11:58:55 AM

Indeed. it's mandatory, and Casimero needs to comply. We can start bringing that topic about Inoue once he finished this fight with a win.
I'm confident that Casimero will win the fight, and I understand why people are so excited to see an Inoue vs Casimero fight because we all want to see a big fight in the bantam weight division, and that's the biggest IMO.

Let everything set in place after this delayed fight take place. We all want this tw. young warriors to face each other during their primes.

We just have to wait for the possible reschedule of this postponed fight and see if what turn of events will happen, if there's new progress

Dealing with Casimero's next opponents. It will happen if fate dictates it to happen.
I don't want to think of another possibility, I just see Casimero winning the fight and it will not last in 12 rounds.
2491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Gary Russell vs Mark Magsayo WBC Featherweight Title on: January 24, 2022, 11:26:04 AM
Have anyone seen Gary Russell interview after the fight, the guy is a sore loser claiming he won the majority of the rounds and teaches Magsayo a lesson in boxing, all he has done in the ring is to run and ducked he doesn't even have an offense claiming that he has one hand, it's not Magsayo's fault why he has that injury what is clear is he clearly losses the fight and none of the judges favors him.

Here is the video of that interview

GARY RUSSELL JR. POST-FIGHT VS. MARK MAGSAYO | TALKS JUDGING, INJURY, REMATCH OR MOVE UP

Yeah, I saw this video earlier and honestly he made me laugh knowing that it's so clear that Mark Magsayo has the advantage of the fight so natrurally the Philippine boxer would be hailed as the winner and the new word champion. I reckon he didn't saw the video of the fight, what he's claiming is the exact opposite of what Mark Magsayo did to him. He can't just accept that he lost Grin
Also, it was Gary Russell's fault why he had injury and that explains why he only used his right hand in the fight.

Gary Russell is a great boxer and already carved his name in the boxing greats, he just cannot accept the loss he is doing a Teofimo Lopez by denying the obvious he is indeed a sore loser, he should just humble himself to gain the admiration of the boxing community, now they are laughing at Russell for being a sore loser, anyway, we looked at the fight even to the eyes of the judges he losses the fight, I lose a bit of respect to Russell for his denial.

That's okay mate, there are some boxers who can't accept their losses and that's normal as not everyone is humble. What's important now is that he lose and hopefully he will learn a lessoned in that fight, but since he does not accept his loss, then most likely he will not correct his misktake and will not improve.
2492  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Good moment to buy btc or eth? on: January 24, 2022, 11:12:22 AM
Hi crew. Hope you are all well in new 2022. Good moment to buy btc or eth?
From what i read price can be dumped more, i think split capital which is previously will we use to buy into 3 parts. Because when price keep down after we bought it, at least we still have money to buy more, and the rest if price really move very much and we can buy more with it. I think it is safer to do than decide 1 price and buy it all with capital that we have because no one can predict where actually bitcoin price will go.
it is a buying strategy and perhaps, it works and has been used by some individuals, we can do the same if we feel it was good. But this strategy usually applies to those who have more capital.
The price of Bitcoin is currently at $33,000, I was expecting to drop more where $30,000 is not far from getting reached. I buy some yesterdai but the market seems to deep more, I think, this is the best time for me to buy again.
2493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't punic, just hodl on: January 23, 2022, 09:49:58 PM
a good reason to believe that this is just a correction is the fact that the largest venture capital funds continue to invest money into the market. For example, a month ago Three Arrows Capital bought 156K ETH, or just recently A16z, Alameda, Three Arrows Capital held another round of investment and invested $150M in NEAR Protocol, which indicates that serious guys like a16z and Alameda still believe in growth.
I free totally with your title 'don't panic, just hodl'. Anyone who has been in cryptocurrencies world for a long time will not see this as a new advice or what he should be told, it is a basic knowledge for me. And as thing a going right now with the bear market I don't think anyone has any other choice than just to hodl. I believe this who are panicking are those who have invested what they can't afford to lose. When it comes to bear market the best thing is to hodl.
Yeah, holding is not new but should we have to hold until forever? That probably we hold those valuable coins and to sell those are not.
Well, I think, panic is not the reason why people sell their cryptos, they are just considering safeguarding their investment rather than losing all of it, cut-loss that it means. For as long as we can hold it, we have to do it. People have to do their own, making hold is not the only option to take unless if we don't need money then consider this as the best thing to do.
2494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Gary Russell vs Mark Magsayo WBC Featherweight Title on: January 23, 2022, 09:02:56 PM
Congrats to the winners, I see that most of the posters here were betting on Magsayo, you enjoy the day.  Smiley

That was so lucky for Magsayo, Rusell got injured so he took advantage of it.
If Rusell wasn't injured, I think Magsayo might lose in this fight because the scorecards result were very close, one judge even score a draw.
Magsayo really did a great job and seriously, Rusell looks no injure at all since he also throw good punches to Magsayo, its just that he is not that good to beat Magsayo. Let’s accept it without any excuses, Magsayo dominate the match and he is now a world champion and still undefeated, luckily I place some bet on the last minute.
He can throw some punches but using only one hand, it was not an excuse but he was clearly injured and it helped Magsayo to win that fight. The scorecard were close although Magsayo won via majority decision, things could be hard for him if Rusell had two hands.
2495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Thurman vs Barrios - Feb 5 on: January 23, 2022, 08:46:15 PM
Everyone is on Thurman to win, I wonder how much money the bookies would make if the result will be the opposite. Most of us know Thurman because he fought Pacman, so probably we are underestimating his opponent who is younger than him and also only has one loss in his career.
What the bookies do in the case there is a very heavy favorite is to begin to offer huge odds for the other party so people feel more compelled to make a bet for them, however this can play against them as it was in the case of the first Ruiz vs Joshua fight in which Ruiz won and the casinos lost a lot of money as they were giving him huge odds, however most of the time this is not what happens, so even if they have an event in which they lose money they can easily recover it with the rest of the events they offer to their customers.
Bookies use some algorithm, they balance the odds very well so there's money on both sides of the bets. If you see some odds changes, that means they are just trying to balance something, so if you are smart and you bet early and later the odds changes on your favor, that's a good sign that you were able to get a good value the time you put your bet.

If Rusell wasn't injured, I think Magsayo might lose in this fight because the scorecards result were very close, one judge even score a draw.

The judge that scores the draw is questionable given the compu box results but this is boxing a lot of controversies when it comes to going to the judges' score, Magsayo is being very careful because he knows he is fighting a strong fighter with a very good experience but like all the opinions here he is indeed lucky, Gary Russell can call a rematch if there is a clause in their contract, the argument is he is not 100% although it's not Magsayo's fault.

As always, they would favor the champion but not enough cheating for this fight. Scoring a draw is insane, they see that the champion is only fighting with one hand and there's no way he could win as Magsayo is also fast and fierce in the fight, maybe next time the favor would go to Magsayo as he is the current champion.

I think it will be blatant cheating if the judges score the fight for Russell as it is very clearly that Magsayo did enough to push the fight and hit Russell cleanly specially in the later rounds.

If for reasons, the judges score it for Russell, for sure there will be a lot of uproar and those judges are going to be in the hot seat for that decision. So they can't allow that except maybe for that one judge who have it a draw. So the reign of Russell has come to an end. Bring Leo Sta Cruz next for Magsayo, sure as hell that will be a entertaining fight.

I like the LSC fight, but let's see, give time for Magsayo to celebrate his win when he goes home to the Philippines. Even the great Manny Pacquiao has sent his congratulatory message to Mark as he manages him.

As I have said before, I suspected that it is a shoulder injury and Russell aggravated it more (I forget what round it is), but you can clearly see that he is wincing in pain and can't throw any decent punch.

I think that was in round 4, and after that, he was already struggling. Good thing Magsayo starts aggressive, and he hit the shoulder of Rusell. Maybe he already knows that Rusell had an injury on his right shoulder and he really targeted it, a dirty move but it was a smart move just to win.
2497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your guidance is needed on: January 23, 2022, 09:22:05 AM
To avoid mistakes in bitcoin, one needs an experienced person and a guidance to direct him or her on the things to do and the things not to do,because I'm bitcointalk,we have the do's and the dont's to adhere to.

In Bitcoin, mistakes stands as lesson and experience. An experienced person is the only person that can be a guidian.
Things can't be done so easily that is why we need some guidance from those who are knowledgeable about crypto, not necessarily an expert. But I'm sure OP can make his own and gain more knowledge without others, in fact, most of us here have ZERO knowledge of something and that was because we don't get tired of reading, searching online, and watching YT.
We don't be afraid of getting mistakes because this will be the reason why we become eager to learn. And besides, no such PERFECT exists in crypto even in the other form of investment.
2498  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy Crypto Or Have Fun Staying Poor! on: January 23, 2022, 08:53:50 AM
Well in the first place wouldn't the ones able to buy crypto in the first place the not poor ones? Most people use fiat simply because they can't afford to invest in anything else, though if one has savings somewhere that is just sitting in fiat, well now that is the time then to actually invest it in something and not let it sit there. I'd recommend crypto really, but spreading your assets to other investments should also do you good, just so that you can avoid getting destroyed by the volatility of the crypto market. That is, if you have the capacity to invest, if not then honestly worry about living another day before anything else.

As far as I know, people are afraid to show their money to the government. Now they're moving to cryptocurrencies, and that's the only reason I can see why the fiat is losing its value and the increment in cryptocurrencies.
There is a high possibility that people lift their hands from the fiat and force their government to accept bitcoins.
So hold your bitcoins to help us in the future rather than keeping your order in the banks, so we should buy crypto now to secure our future.

They are afraid of getting taxed, that's why and have this crypto as an exit plan. I'm not sure if this is the right way but we're supposed to pay our obligations. But this is not how it affects the value of fiat money, there is another reason for it.

Anyways, we don't urge people to buy crypto, that was their choice. People can improve their living without crypto, however, investing in Bitcoin is not a way far of reaching our goal too fast than the other ways.
2499  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Deep before the Raise on: January 22, 2022, 11:42:09 PM
I do believe that there is always increasing after downtrending but sometimes this took years and not just overnight so if you are saying that there will be a coming hype sooner?I doubt it because what I believe is that this will took years.

at least after new halving?

5here will never a continued increase for couple of years it is always pumping then dumping.
Yes of course, there will be pump after the dump or a correction after the bull run and it's nothing new. The Bitcoin price will always fluctuate due to different traders all over the world plus there's always a correction after the bull run. This is how the Bitcoin market live they buy and they sell something it doesn't matter what it is they don't seem to have a choice.

Just like what the above said, hodl is the only choice they have or they will be giving the joy to someone if they tend to sell it during that price. I know that the panic meter is in extreme fear but this is just a temporary test so hodl.
As to see, only those who have a new experience in dumps could think about selling while the rest are holding. This means that people had already learned from their past and are able to make it right now. I was glad to see no major sell-off happen this time, quite unusual compared before but the good this about this is it helps to slow down the drops and might it lead to early recovery as we expected.
It may be, we could see the market is in recovery next month, not that long, not that like 2018-2020 long bearish season.
2500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Growth of Bitcoin? on: January 22, 2022, 11:16:54 PM
El Salvador has legalised bitcoin and just for a thought I was evaluating that the country purchased btc in 30k range and after a few weeks purchased in 50k range and now it's dumping and again seems to touch 30/40 k range. Such a huge volatility means big players are manipulating bitcoin. So is that good for motivating other countries to make it legal tender as currency? The whales have deep roots in btc and it will always be a drawback for the organic growth of Bitcoin. And donot forget blockchain technology is known by bitcoin! Am I right?
Everything you see in the cryptocurrency market is not really about whales and manipulation. Sometimes the market can just be going up and down due to the demand and supply; the thing that moves the price is basically demand and supply, and we have been told times without number that when the demand is high, the price increases, and when demand is low,it decreases.

So, it is not every time that you see the price drop that it is being manipulated.  It can just be a normal fluctuation of the price. Furthermore, Bitcoin has really grown too big, and it would be very difficult for anyone to manipulate it this time around. So, it is mostly all about demand and supply. And of course any country that would adopt Bitcoin would still adopt it, they already know that’s how it is.
Not at all. The market is too big for now to blow the blame into them (whales) for manipulating the market, I guess they are not enough to move the market. There are several market players that could affect it but at this time, I heard nothing FUDs, banning issues, SEC issues, this decline had come naturally and I think, this will also recover naturally. That is why I don't even bother myself thinking about selling off, but what I just did is to keep calm and hold coz I know this will be over soon.
