2501  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Kyc worth the risk? on: March 17, 2023, 12:01:04 PM
Don't call me a fool but I am wondering what could possibly go wrong after passing a KYC verification on a reliable exchange like Binance...
~snip~

A lot of things can go wrong, and you should know that CEX has already been hacked once and thousands of users' personal data were stolen. What is even more strange is that they claimed that CEX was not directly hacked, but that a "third-party vendor" was to blame, which means that most of these CEXs have multiple options to be hacked when it comes to user's personal data. In other words, you give them your personal data, and they can pass it on to someone else for safekeeping or sell it to interested parties.

2502  Economy / Economics / Re: Should we take the collapse of SVB and Credit Suisse as indicators of Woes Ahead on: March 17, 2023, 11:27:00 AM
When the banks are 'saved' by the government, they're injecting new dollars into the economy that shouldn't be there in the first place. Switzerland doesn't have a terribly high inflation rate but USD is inflating at a high rate so the federal reserve has reason not to bail out the banks. Also, do we want to be in a position where tax payers will cover the losses of the banking institutions should their investments go sour? Individual investors do not have such luxury, so why should the banks?

Of course, the money has to come from somewhere, as it came after the 2008 crisis and saved many who were supposed to fail. The same is happening today, although at least for now it has not reached the stage where a chain reaction has been created and everything starts to collapse at such a speed that it cannot be prevented. This is why the reactions of the authorities are very quick and effective in order to calm the panic while they still have room for maneuver. And the ECB recently declared that the eurozone is stable and that in case of any problems they can act quickly - which means that the life belts are ready in case they are needed.

I'd expect for larger banks to purchase the assets of SVB and every other failed bank at a discount which would provide some liquidity for their creditors. But people are still losing money even if the government provides support. The economy is in for a blood bath. This is only the beginning.

Ordinary people are always the ones who pay the highest price, that's how it was throughout history, and that's how it is unfortunately today. However, I hope you are not right when you say that this is just the beginning, because after the pandemic and the war that is still going on, I sincerely hope that we will avoid a new large-scale economic crisis, although some say that we are already living in one, we are just not aware of it yet.
2503  Economy / Economics / Re: Should we take the collapse of SVB and Credit Suisse as indicators of Woes Ahead on: March 16, 2023, 04:38:00 PM
As far as I know, both banks will be saved, and just today I read that Credit Suisse requested help from the Swiss central bank and that they were approved for help of up to 50 billion Swiss francs, which is about 54 billion EUR. The assumptions are that this will be enough to save the bank, and I have no doubt that the Swiss central bank will do its best to preserve the credibility of its banks.

I don't want to speculate at all about what could happen next, but I don't think we should expect a complete collapse of the banking system in the US or the EU. Of course, this does not mean that the banks are safe, especially the small and less well-known ones that probably no one will save.
2504  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I need to receive satoshi from a big wallet on: March 16, 2023, 04:05:25 PM
They want to hire someone who has the ability to trade large amounts of bitcoins. and they have this term to be done as a proof.
~snip~

Think about how meaningless that request is, because the fact that you will receive coins from a wallet that has a minimum of 500 BTC does not prove your ability to, as you say, "ability to trade large amounts of bitcoins". That would only prove that you are capable of finding someone who has that number of BTC, and to me it all seems like someone trying to identify owners who have 500 BTC or more.

It doesn't seem like any honest business to me, and in any case, the request is strange to say the least.
2505  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Kyc worth the risk? on: March 16, 2023, 03:35:22 PM
You can use Bisq exchange, It's a decentralise exchange that allows you trade bitcoin and other cryptocurrency...
~snip~

This is certainly one of the options to avoid verification through personal documents, but you should know that whoever you trade with will still be able to see your information when it comes to the bank account to which you will receive payment when you sell Bitcoin. Of course, it is not nearly as risky as sending personal documents to a CEX, which is always at risk of being hacked, but sometimes not only in the sense that crypto-currencies are stolen, but personal data is also stolen.

Those who have become victims of identity theft often go through agony trying to prove that someone stole their data, but I believe that many are not even aware that someone is using their data in an inappropriate way.
2506  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Android malware targets 13 bitcoin wallets and 400 banks on: March 16, 2023, 11:19:25 AM
Sadly, that tendency of theirs can easily bite them in the ass, and when that happens, they are going to put the blame on everybody and everything except themselves.

Unfortunately, it's always like that, because everyone thinks that something bad won't happen to them until it does. Today's smartphones are much more than just phones, and most young people try out various apps out of pure curiosity, and it's not that I once cleaned such apps from someone's smartphone that simply slowed down and started freezing because countless apps were running in the background.

It is not only a matter of safety, but also that working on such devices is problematic, and the battery wears out quickly.

But over the long term basic supply and demand coupled with scarcity validate everything I said. So I'm not certain what your point of disagreement is.

What I don't agree with is that you put as an example something that would be created in 2023, in the concrete example of a baseball card as something that should achieve a certain value, and I agree that this can happen over a very long period of time and in in the event that most of the cards are destroyed/lost and that there is someone who will collect them in 50 or 100 years.

To me, it is rather frivolous to put Bitcoin and baseball cards in the same sentence in that context. Show me one baseball card that was made between 2009 and today that has any significant value? Maybe there are some limited series or something like that, but as I already quoted in the previous post, the mass production of the same for the last few decades does not make them valuable compared to the old cards.
2508  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism vs AI Posting on: March 16, 2023, 10:38:42 AM
For me, the only difference between plagiarized content and content created by AI is that the latter is harder to detect and prove without a doubt. Both should without a doubt be in the same category when it comes to punishment, because there is no justification for someone wanting to present something that he did not create as his own.

That's interesting. Are you sure the accounts you write about were banned for abusing AI tools? Can you give me one concrete example of an account that was banned for such actions? Exactly for using AI tools. I think that they were banned for other violations, because the moderators do not have a specific decision about the AI posts at the moment.

Look here and further posts, and this shows that at least one of the forum staff takes this problem seriously and that such users will be nuked/permabanned.
2509  Economy / Reputation / Re: LegendaryDR, DiorDior, SirAndre - alt accounts on: March 16, 2023, 10:11:30 AM
~snip~

I personally have no problems with your decision and if you had a successful trade with that user, it is your right to leave positive feedback. I can only say that I had an unpleasant experience with the same user because he did an exit scam with the faucet he was running at the time, and then offered his Legendary account for sale.

I will only repeat that such a member should not have a green trust, because the fact that he has not been active for 2+ years does not mean that he will not show up and try something bad. However, the decision is up to you.
2510  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 15, 2023, 05:21:20 PM
~snip~
Even my chips which I had in chipmixer service for which they claimed to "delete private" keys after 7 days or whatever, were seized/transfered.
and these transactions took place good 3 months ago.

It seems that you are right, whoever had vouchers or chips was left without them. I checked some old wallets older than 1 year that only contained chips from CM, and they were all emptied. Yes, it's a bit stupid that I didn't spend them, but honestly I forgot about a few $ in those old wallets. It's really strange that it wasn't all deleted, but now we at least know where even 7GB of data came from.
2511  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ChipMixer.com has been seized. on: March 15, 2023, 04:38:17 PM

Any solid reason for them to seize bitcointalk.org?

As if they need a solid reason to do something, they can just do it for any reason. Although when it comes to CM, it would be logical that they first attacked BTT as the main source of advertising, and now that they have demolished CM, the forum will probably not be an interesting target for them. However, these are strange times, we all need to prepare that one day we will be greeted by a message that the forum has been seized.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5444988.0

Is it so difficult to check if someone has already opened a thread on this topic?

As the title speaks, there was a bitcoin poster ad seen outside a van near silicon valley bank headquarters!
Jerome Powell is handling a paper in it saying "Buy Bitcoin". So, is this the reason we pumped quite hard from 20k to 26.5k in a matter of days? Can someone confirm if this is real? I know Jerome doesn't speak clearly about supporting btc in any of his speech, but maybe some btc lover did this intentionally, lol.

How can you even ask if this is true? It's obviously a photoshop, otherwise Powell would have already been fired and it would be the news of the day. There are xx topics explaining what could be the real reasons for that mini pump.
2513  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as number one choice: The legal tender for breakaway/newly formed nation on: March 15, 2023, 12:11:27 PM

Bitcoin is also an excellent option. Collectible baseball cards printed in 2023 are a deflationary asset. As each year passes, some cards will be lost or destroyed. Causing the value of a baseball card to appreciate over time as it gains in scarcity. Bitcoin follows the same trend. Each year many coins will be lost causing it to become an increasingly scarce resource. This could allow the value of coins to appreciate over time via the same deflationary mechanism as baseball cards and sports collectibles. With BTC having an advantage of intrinsic value, in terms of it carrying utility.

Your comparisons of Bitcoin with various things with which there is almost no point of contact are strange to say the least. Those cards you mention (or any others) can not only be issued in millions, but can also be forged and produced in virtually unlimited quantities and have no value for those who are not closely connected with it - in other words, collectors and those who are interested in baseball.

Bitcoin has a maximum supply, you cannot fake it and anyone can distribute it through the blockchain anytime and anywhere in the world. While sports collectibles undoubtedly have their value, it makes no sense to compare them to something like Bitcoin. Those cards from 2023 will probably be worth something in 100 years or so, because even those that are around 50 years old don't have much value today.

So, whoever says that baseball cards are no longer valuable simply doesn't know what he or she is talking about...
Sure, the massive print runs during the late 80's and early 90's killed the value of most post-1980's cards.

This malware spreads through a currency converter app. Why would you need to have that installed on your phone? You can literally enter USD to EUR or any other currency pair and get rates from Google.

After the switch to EUR, many people in my country started using such apps, especially older ones who find it difficult to calculate how much something costs in EUR compared to the old currency. Of course, such things can always be checked online, but most people still have a tendency to use apps for almost every activity we can imagine. Therefore, if you download a lot of apps, there is a chance that at least one of them will be malicious, and one is quite enough to cause damage.

Should we report users whose posts clearly look like the work of a chat machine?
Maybe create a topic for a general review of such accounts if the moderators have doubts that the posts are not written by a person.

I think that the moderators will have a hard time deciding on a perma ban in case of suspicion that it is a post that was written with the help of AI. of course, except in cases where the user actually admits (unknowingly) that his post was actually written by AI.

For now, I have chosen a different approach in the sense that if I suspect such a post, I warn others not to participate in such discussions. I'm not sure how good or bad that approach is, but something must be done against those AI bots.
2516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Loans and credits facilities on BTC. on: March 15, 2023, 11:16:15 AM
Hopefully you don't fabricate the story.

I hope that he was not deceived by his "friend", because it is not too much of a problem to "fake the balance", because all you need is to create a watch-only wallet, and enter a public address that has a very nice balance that you can brag about, which of course it's not something I would recommend to anyone if they don't want to jeopardize their safety.

I don't fully understand your question but making loan to invest into anything is not good idea.

There are only two options, either the OP is asking where he can invest his BTC to double the amount he currently owns, or where he can borrow money to buy more BTC. Both options are a bad choice, with the difference that the first is a little less painful because you lose the BTC you lent to someone, and the second means that you borrowed money to buy BTC and it happens that you can't pay back the loan and then you lose a little more in your life, especially if the loan is from a loan shark.
2517  Economy / Speculation / Re: 26k mark finally breached on: March 14, 2023, 04:47:41 PM
What's special about $26k, and it wasn't at $25k or will it be at $28k when it happens? I have written many times that I do not expect a big bull run to happen before the next halving, and I don't think it is happening now. Not too long ago we were at $25k+ and back under $20k again, and who's to say this isn't another bull trap?

What is a little strange is that this pump is happening at a time when some US banks are failing, and especially when one of the largest is failing. I watched a program on local TV and in the context of that story, a man commented on the whole situation with the banks with the sentence "so what were we supposed to do with our money, invest everything in cryptocurrencies?"

Perhaps one of the possible explanations for why the price of BTC is rising is that some have decided to withdraw money from banks and invest in Bitcoin - because banks have proven to be a very bad choice - not only are their interest rates close to zero, but they literally collapse overnight.
2518  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: scam csgo500.com banned account with 1000$ on: March 14, 2023, 04:11:00 PM
This is insane that this casino can randomly reject player by banning his account and seize whole balance.

I admit that this is not fair of them, especially since they do not offer any explanation and do not return your deposit. I would continue to be persistent and try to contact them through social networks, because as far as I can see, what you experienced is not what the reviews of other users show - although it does not necessarily mean that the positive reviews are not fake in some cases.

The amount seized by csgo500 is huge for me that why I'm posing this thread to warn others against this scam service.

If it's an amount you can't afford to lose, why did you invest it in a casino with which you have no previous experience? $100 would seem like a much more logical first time deposit.
2519  Economy / Economics / Re: Bank Bailouts and Stock Market. on: March 14, 2023, 03:42:39 PM
So I think we will still see a lot more bankruptcies, there will be more layoffs and the stock market will keep suffering from that. This also means that bitcoin will probably find a new bottom.

What kind of new bottom are you talking about these past few days? I thought you were done with your predictions which were 100% wrong and now for some reason you are still spreading FUD.

I think some people interpret this whole situation a little bit wrong so I wanted to share my opinion on this topic.

You are the first one who is completely lost and you got it all wrong, but if you want to dig yourself an even deeper hole, go ahead.

Not too long ago I wrote a post about the best time to invest in bitcoin/crypto and this moment still didn't come.
I was saying this before and I will say it again: bitcoin will go down and it MIGHT even go lower than 15k.

So I still think that bitcoin will stay below 22k for a pretty long time and the signal that it will change will be much lower inflation and lowering of the interest rates.
2520  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "UNLOCKING THE POWER OF MERITS: STRATEGIES FOR GROWING YOUR ACCOUNT" on: March 14, 2023, 03:17:57 PM
If you weren't lazy and just trying to intimidate others with your forum status, you should have provided evidence to back up your claims.

Somehow it doesn't seem to me that you wrote this post -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5444349

Of course, we can't be 100% sure that you used AI in this particular post, but looking at your other posts (including this topic), I'd say we can be at least 90% sure that you used some tricks.
