This surprised me as well. They batted like crap in the first matches while their bowlers performed really well, but it was the complete opposite in this particular match. Shanaka was brilliant, but there were many useful contributions from several other players which helped them win this one. They really needed the win considering the fact that their country is reeling in economic turmoil these days. Shanaka scored the most important runs, and from the very beginning of the innings every player have contributed little runs and this has driven Sri Lanka towards a win. Finally the win have made Australia win the series 2-1, if not this could've been a shame of losing all matches in the home ground. I saw a great match, Sri Lankans are known for that. The Skipper Dasun Shanaka played an outstanding knock. In Pallekele, Sri Lanka's captain rides a wave of late heroics to lead his team to a thrilling victory. As Sri Lanka hit 59 in the last three overs, Dasun Shanaka leads the way as this young blood can do anything special in the future to restore the peak form to the team. In the end experienced Pakistan was able to demolish the inexperienced West Indies squad. Pakistan is a well balanced side, with world class players such as Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Shah Afridi. On the other hand, West Indies don't have any players who can directly compete with these players one-to-one. And one more thing is that Pakistan worked well as a team and the bonding is good. West Indies on the other hand lacked cohesion and were dependent too much on individual performances. In captaincy also, Babar Azam is a level ahead of Nicholas Pooran.
No one was expecting such tough fight from West Indies. They were just 10 to 20 runs short in giving the target. Babar Azam again showing his class as he scored his 17th ODI hundred. It was a balanced match and in the end, Pakistan won because of kushdil Shah 6s. Even I was not anticipating this win from the Pakistan team. Babar Azam with 103 runs played a major role in this win while Khushdil Shah put the nail in the coffin by making 41 runs in only 23 balls. Pakistan chased this score in 49.2 and it was a thriller to watch. We can expect the next two one-day international matches to be close ones. Tomorrow again the two teams will meet and Pakistan will try to win the match plus the series.  In the end, they managed to take down 300+ so easily like no one expected. Babar is doing a great job as captain of Pakistan, I enjoy watching him play. Babar Azam is without a doubt the best batsman in the world at the moment. As a result of his efforts, the Pakistan team has been able to compete against the best in the world. There's a concern I have about Pakistani pitches, they're completely faded and dead, no longer the pitches that quick bowlers once relied on for help in the 90s and early 2000s. Anyways I also don't think Ligue 1 looks so bad for football fans just because PSG dominated the title in the last few seasons. Ligue 1 remains competitive but is definitely different from other leagues. Mbappe's choice to stay at PSG in my opinion is right for now because he is still very young and will be in demand by other teams who are able to pay his release clause to PSG later. Real Madrid just want to get him for free next season and as a result Mbappe will have to refuse to sign his new contract, it doesn't make sense. LOL It is good that he stayed in Paris, since Real Madrid feels as if they can obtain every top-level player they desire. You can't expect things to work out as smoothly as you seem. He won't regret his decision, since he has the chance to compete for the Champions League with his current team next season. Josh Hazelwood, what a bowler!!
He's very underrated bowler of our times, everyone knows he's good but doesn't get enough credit due to Cummins and Starc, even in the world stage people don't talk about him passionately as compared to other bowlers.
I have personally believed that both Starc and Cummins are overrated bowlers. Starc loses his rhythm every now and then, and in the end sprays down the ball all over the ground. Cummins rarely gets wayward, but he loses his venom when put under pressure. On the other hand, Hazlewood on most occasions maintain his composure and performs well under pressure. He is the best bowling option, when the opposition batsmen need more than 10 runs per over. Express pacers such as Starc can concede a lot of runs on such occasions, and maybe a riskier option. Josh Hazelwood performed really well in that match. Sri Lanka was looking really good till the 100 runs that they have scored. But after that, they just collapsed. I thought they were playing really well and they would score at least 150 or 160. And that would have given them a good chance of winning. But they started losing wickets at regular intervals. The bowlers of Sri Lanka did not have much to do because, in the end, it was the fault of their batsman. And I honestly cannot say that Mitchell starc and Cummins are overrated. Josh Hazelwood perform really well in that match but having a good performance in one match certainly does not make him a better player than the others. Michel Stark also performed well in that match even though he was a little expensive compared to Josh Hazelwood. That's some great stuff from the World Champions! Josh Hazalwood, you are an absolute superstar. Despite being better than Michel Stark in every format, Hazlewood is still unlikely to be selected to play in the tests... Sri Lanka was humiliated by the Australians. As a result of Sri Lanka's batting collapse, the bowling has been struggling. The Sri Lankans collapsed badly yesterday, but they did very well up until the 100-run mark! The situation has not improved since the World Cup. The Australians won by a massive margin after a dominant performance all around. It's really important to me that Sri Lanka stands up to Australia. |
