2521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Are Just Too Stupid to Use Bitcoin Right Now on: July 06, 2016, 09:47:43 PM
It's not that people are too stupid to use btc right now, I think most folks aren't really ready for the level of security required to be your own bank. People are kind of haphazard because of ach; if you can prove your money was taken fraudulently, usually you can get the transaction reversed. This makes people very cavalier about keeping a tight ship, once it's gone in Bitcoin, it's gone. I notice the people hemorrhage personal details on social media that can be used to socially engineer one's way into their accounts via customer service. No one believes in privacy anymore Sad
2522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is big problem in using of bitcoin on: July 06, 2016, 09:43:05 PM
My biggest problem with btc is exchange rates, and merchant acceptance. It's a nightmare to use an ATM or local bitcoin to convert btc; the fees are outrageous although the service is swift. With comes to the reason you have to convert bitcoin in the first place, real life companies (mortgage, utilities, the government) don't directly accept bitcoin. Only fiat.
2523  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: The fastest bitcoin multiplier! The FastMultiplier! on: July 06, 2016, 09:40:20 PM
Simply, just don't do this Grin I haven't found a way to magically multiply my bitcoin, believe me I've tried. Value always has to be generated, beware those that would seemingly offer you value for free.
2524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We missed the ETH train. on: July 06, 2016, 09:38:16 PM
Methinks we are going to see distincly sub 10 prices after the fork is implemented, but given the relative stability of the price throughout all this fiasco, I don't expect it to go sub 8. But, we will be in 10 territory for a while.

If there is one thing we can depend on, it's the persistence of eth holders Smiley
2525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The most widely used altcoin on: July 06, 2016, 09:35:02 PM
Isn't Doge fairly heavily used on Reddit?

Yep: that's why it belongs on the list. Litecoin seems primarily to be used to transfer funds to/from/between exchanges faster than Bitcoin. This use case will prolly increase given the Bitcoin blocksize clog & the "fee market" thingie.

Don't forget DOGE as well, it has very low fees and very fast transaction ions. Ltc, and Doge are both my 'exchange' coin. Pretty much assured they will be on the recipient exchange's orderbooks, and the networks rarely seem to experience congestion.
2526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH really becoming a new BTC on: July 06, 2016, 09:33:01 PM
ETH need to born again to becoming "a new BTC".

Don't you love these presumptuous thread titles that the OPs end up regretting? Grin

2527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is LISK inspired by Starcraft and World of Warcraft? on: July 06, 2016, 07:37:09 PM
The logo for this coin always looked a little cheesy to me, as well as the name. I never get what goes through the heads of the devs when they  pick these coin names.  Mainly, I could never figure out what they hell a Lisk was looking at the logo. Apparently a badly Photoshopped blue space crystal.

The other side of the coin is how do you want people to invest largensums of money into something with such poor advertising (the logo/name?). Seems the opposite way to get VC.
2528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: July 06, 2016, 05:48:35 PM
DAO will recover along with ETH. Buy when its at rock bottom, buy up, then sit and wait. $$$$$$$$
Bitcoin was once in bad shape for the first couple of years, Up and Down Side to Side. Ether is smart and so is DAO. They just need more time. However..... ETH and DAO are not day trading currencies.  You will become very wealth if you buy into ETH/DAO now and park it for 5 years!

I just don't think the DAO will actually recover. Why would anyone trust something, that was so catastrophically broken that it costs millions of dollars? As you have said, eth over long term, but otherwise, these assets aren't going anywhere too soon.

I agree. If you are after a profit sooner rather than later. DONT buy into eth or dao. But if you can afford a couple of hundred dollars to throw into a eth/dao wallet and forget about it for a while..... DO IT.

The DAO/Ethereum is very risky business. It is for speculation only at the moment. If you have extra money, buy some.

But not yet. Id wait til right before the fork, or right after it. The price is entirely too unstable at the moment, as previously said.
2529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it legal to earn and hold bitcoin ? on: July 06, 2016, 05:40:44 PM
Apparently, it depends on where you live. Some countries, like North Korea and Russia, aren't so friendly towards Bitcoin. It certainly would be illegal to hold Bitcoin in one of these jurisdictions, under certain circumstances.
2530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coins are best for noobs? on: July 06, 2016, 01:55:02 PM
Try the classics, bitcoin, litecoin and dogecoin. Can't go too wrong, all are pretty stable and trusted, and have very decent market capitalizations without all of the risk these more experimental, newer technologies bring.
2531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We missed the ETH train. on: July 06, 2016, 01:53:17 PM

I think for the small investors like me, it is better to sit on the side lines. Only big whales can make money.

The price turns very fast. A day or two ago, there were many trolls about the Ethereum. After the price rise, most of them disappeared.
Yes the Spoetniktards BTC goon shills usually drop off the radar anytime ETH is doing well. Which is more reason to invest in ETH and keep these here forums clean of their tardshite.

The bitcoin price dropped over 10% today, so we shall see less of him in the Ethereum threads? Ethereum is still young.

That is right. The Etheruem is still young. It is still growing. Its situation is similar to the bitcoin in 2010.

But some people are inpatient about the slow progress of the Ethereum and some people want it destroyed.

There are a few trolls from the bitcoin and the Monero community to say many bad things about the Eth.

Its kinda easy to pick on eth right now, and when you see a thread title that obviously doesn't reflect reality, there is a strong chance ut might be powered by troll energy. I only clicked on this thread because cause we obviously "didn't miss the eth train". Maybe it's on a circular track..
2532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if ETH survives? on: July 06, 2016, 12:54:42 PM
What's the actual plan for the fork?  Are they just freezing and returning funds to old owners?  This means loads of eth dumps. They should just cut off the rotten limb and burn the lot.  Id say its the only shot they have at saving eth.

I heard that there will be no soft fork to freeze the coins due to a buy. There will be just a hard fork.

So after all that drawn out debacle, they still had to opt for the hard fork? If they were gonna end up here, why not cut straight to the chase? It seems like they are drawing out what will be the obvious decision.

2534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: July 04, 2016, 03:26:29 PM
Apparently Poloniex will be taking part in the giveaway when it happens.  So if you have BTC on there it should receive an allocation of free Lumens.

Didn't know this, thanks. Use coinbase primarily at the moment, was going to a paper walle t to ensure I would have the wallet keys for the address in case it was needed. Polo is pretty cool about shit like this, Ill most likely just do it on their platform
2535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Ethereum be Forked Your Opinion (Poll) on: July 04, 2016, 02:37:31 PM
People enjoy it to much. Getting toyed with is exciting for the eth fan boys. I vote NOOOOOOOO

Lol, it must be the case, I have never seen a group of asset holders keep coming back for a beating like that. Well, maybe the HashOcean guys at the moment, with that refund bullshit. But if this thing hard forks, it's done (stick a fork in it done. See what I did there?).
2536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if ETH survives? on: July 04, 2016, 02:30:36 PM
Laugh wholeheartedly. Then eventually, if it exists a few years down the road in a better form, invest.

We might even have a use for smart contracts by then  Grin
2537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH = Game Over on: July 04, 2016, 02:27:00 PM
eth will be good investment now_ after fork it will go only up.
Now is not good time _black time

I don't think this asset is going to resurge, given the lack of confidence St the moment. It may uptrends long term, but short term, this thing is drifting down.
2538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pro tip. Add the word dao to your coin/project on: July 03, 2016, 04:35:47 PM
Pro tip. Add the word dao to your coin/project

That gimmick has already flown and died. Add it to your project and the market will run away from your ICO.

Have to agree, slock.it made DAO a bad word for the time being. It will be a while before saying it doesn't leave a nasty taste in ones mouth.
2539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is dogecoin worth to invest? on: July 03, 2016, 04:28:08 PM
slow?
half million $ in daily volume is slow?

right?  DOGE is one of the solids.  you never have to worry about having a buyer for your DOGE Wink

And fast as hell (transaction wise) .It's also one of the more popular in the public eye, since this is one of the few coins that actually made a nod at branding (the meme itself, the NASCAR thing, etc). You could do much worse Smiley

I think of holding DOGE like holding a pocket full of nickels and pennies.
2540  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are you investing in Bitcoin? on: July 03, 2016, 04:22:21 PM
To get rich, or die trying  Grin

But seriously, you will not find another asset with the same ease of investment, nor this volatility. It's like stocks on steroids. Also, the government isn't generally aware of my investment, which is absolutely amazing for tax considerations. Trading an SEC regulated asset requires alot of KYC and account minimums.
