I got your PM, thanks for the info.

But I have my Gigabytes at nearly the same spaces and they're only getting 570KH/s. I say nearly because even in single card config they overclock like crap.  These are rev 2.  They'll be going back to Frys. Probably will get some Sapphires since they seem to clock better.

Perhaps the batches at Frys are crappy.  Also I'm using Intel setups, so that may be part of it.

The Best OS is the one you get get mining in 4 hours.  If you know Linux don't putz around with Windows and visa versa.  Both are fine.

Just don't try OSX.
2525  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP can't even boot up on: April 13, 2013, 01:19:22 AM
No offense but perhaps this rig building is not for you.  I know the feeling you're having.  I've built tons of miners and 3 weeks ago I was ready to snap a Mobo in 1/2.  I was working in an office with an ambient of 95F due to the mining and the AC being offline.  You ever try kneeling and getting up off a hard floor in a dimly lit office with an ambient of 95F - I swear I was going to go postal.  Didn't help I was trying to diagnose the problem with a brand new card that ended up being dead.  I was using all working older hardware too.

If you get this frustrated building the rig it will only get worse when you're trying to get the cards stable.  Try finding a bitcoiner in your local area who would be willing to help you out and tip them 1 BTC or something.  Otherwise you probably won't be mining for a week.

I'll answer your question, not tell you what to do.

Sigh, if you're going to link for a noobie, don't link to Github  Roll Eyes

Here's the CPUMiner (not advised to use)

2528  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mobo showing error 19 FF on: April 12, 2013, 09:00:43 PM
Im looking at this, and it seems that the computer has to start up in order to do this.  The problem lies in the fact that the GPU isnt outputting any video.  Nothing comes up on the screen when we try to boot.

Any other suggestions?

Well if it's a BIOS issue the only way to flash it would be to put in an older CPU, flash it, then put the newer one back in.  You can't flash on the new CPU since the machine can't handle the new one prior to flashing.

Try a different video card or RAM.  Sometimes these fancy overclocking RAM aren't tolerated by boards on initial boot.
2529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [QQQ] TRC? how is the stability now....better than 'Gox? on: April 12, 2013, 08:54:01 PM
Very stable.......asystole

....no heart beat eh....droll very droll

I have seen 80%, 100% and now 380% on dustcoin....

is the 380% becuase it is stable and thus something actually improved upon BTC??? or more swings?

It's 100% right now, but I don't know how many people care to mine it.
2530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GUIMiner-scrypt: A GUIMiner fork for mining scrypt chains on: April 12, 2013, 08:49:54 PM
Too hot.

Are you using afterburner?  You at 20% power?  What hashing speed are you getting there?

You need a fan bro.

- Afterburner, no. Watching temps/fan with Trixx but no adjustments of clocks etc yet. Recommendations welcome. (Do I void any warranties when over clocking?)
- Not sure what power I'm at. Again tell me.
- Getting ~550kh per card.

They're in a case (butt up next to each other) I can run the bottom one by itself and runs at 70 C but whenever I put the top one on. Bang, up to 100 C. Just installing another fan now straight onto the gpu.

I'm aware they can run hotter than average cards, so I asked a tech at a PC shop if it was too hot and he said "Is the card failing?" and I said no. "Then it's not too hot." But we both agreed obviously lower is better.

Any recommends welcome.

[Update] I had the fan on the side of the case on extract. I flipped the fan around and temperatures dropped by a couple of degrees C. (so still 97 C). Using GUIMiner=scrypt 'high usage' but even on low usage the temps get to in the 90s

So the tech thinks it's not too hot hmmmm... does the tech get to repair your machine when it melts?

Seriously, take the bottom card out and build another rig OR buy an extender for the bottom card OR severely lower your hashrate.  You're going to kill both cards.

I can show a picture of me with a shoe on my head.

holy shit, you learnt how to use both hands at the same time?

Wait.  You need TWO hands to hold a shoe on your head?   Wow, explains a lot.

2533  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 1 client, 1 login per GPU ? on: April 12, 2013, 08:33:40 PM
Depends.  If the cards are unstable you want a separate miner for each GPU so if one goes offline you will be notified.  Obviously people with huge farms like me don't have 200 logins.  If you don't need to babysit the cards, just have them mine all on one miner login.

lol

any sale ... IF i sell it will be via escrow.

do i have to retype that in hebrew?

it will be via escrow and it will be NOT in BTC

i'll be the first to admit i was a little drunk when i made my first posts... but can you blame me?

Yes. What makes you think anybody cares about your first world problems?
You come across as a self-entitled toe-rag, the only person this thread makes me pity is your mother.

you call a market going from $280 to $40, then up and down randomly with an hour and a half sell orders as normal?.... and im just bitching?

i think you "be trippin" bro

Have you ever tried buying or selling on NYSE or NASDAQ?

On GPU I mining btc

While CPU speed is not really important for BTC mining, if you bog down your CPU you will get more stales and slower submit rates for your shares.  It will cut into your BTC profits.  Trust me, I tried on 2 rigs I let run for 1 month and my U went down.
2537  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: how ot start minign on cpu without gfx card? on: April 12, 2013, 08:12:46 PM
Bitcoin Foundation banned CPU mining.  That's what caused the fork in March 2013.

Nope - client 0.8.0 supported larger blocksize than 0.7. The change was not tested and this caused fork. Read here: http://bitcoin.org/chainfork.html

Eleuthria, can you explain why the Current Shares jump from a high number to 0, but the shares in Open Shifts and Open Shift Earnings do not change. I suppose that when a high number in Current Shares turns to 0, it means the current shift is over and the shares in open shifts will change?

Yes when the current shares drop down to 0 or a low number it means a shift ended and a new one started.  If the open shift earnings doesn't change it means we're having bad luck (a lot of that the last few days) an did not find a block in the last shift.
2539  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: avl asic on: April 12, 2013, 07:04:27 PM
I don't see any point that you're making, unless this post was just to declare your apathy and frustration (not sure why though).

Here, lemme break it down for you:

1. He's not happy with the performance of his Avalon unit
2. He'll ramble on about it in this thread and maybe chime in on other related threads about his "experience" with his
3. He'll finally become frustrated and put it up for sale to the highest bidder
4. You send first, no Escrow

Any questions?

Exactly.

In other news,  I don't like my Aston Martin DB9 - it won't fly like my Learjet.  It's just underwhelming *yawn*
2540  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What catalyst and sdk drivers are you using for 7970 (windows) on: April 12, 2013, 06:59:56 PM
How fast are you running your fans to keep the temp that low? What is the ambient temp?

Ambient: 67-71°C

I don't use the stock cooling. Instead, I water cool most of my cards.  My 7970's have EK-FC7970 blocks and my 7950's have Thermaltake and Corsair AIO liquid cooled units modded to them.

And I thought it was hot where I lived!!!  Shocked
