1641  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Boycott GHASH.IO/CEX.IO permanently on: June 23, 2014, 02:44:30 AM
if all people leave ghash, where will the go?

better off to have a 51% ghash, then a 51% unknown.

who are ghash anyway? ...... I mean, really?

They said they would never gain 51% of the hashrate ..... they did!
They said that they would allow users to use other pools ... but didn't!
They said that they would limit new membership ..... they haven't!
Now they say they will never launch a 51% attack on the bitcoin network ..... bearing in mind that ghash has been accused of double spending before, their assurances do not inspire much confidence in my opinion!

What do you guys think?

I think many of the newer users commenting here haven't taken the time to research what has been going on since 2009.  People say Ghash.IO would be shooting themselves if they did such an attack - the very same people not knowing that they have double spent before and there is proof of this behavior (not just conjecture).

They do not participate in the network development (as evidenced by their minimalistic communication) and they have no intentions of proactively slowly their growth despite what they say.  Take an example from BTCGuild who got to 40% last year - the pool op eleuthria raised pool fees and moved off getwork.

Ghash.io has not done a single thing to retard their growth.  Go on living with naivete - I think I know where the retard is...
1642  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will any U.S. Manufacturer deliver 20nm this year? on: June 23, 2014, 02:37:57 AM
My bet is we probably won't see any actual 20nm boxes hitting anytime this year.  But by the middle of next year it's almost a certainty.
As already pointed out, knc is currently delivering 20nm miners.

However, they are terribly overpriced and get "only" 0.6W/GH, a figure that can be achieved on 28 nm.

I think he was answering that no US manufacterers will be delivering 20nm (KNC being Swedish).
1643  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Martingale System on: June 22, 2014, 09:53:29 AM
Martin gale will work on small ammounts on a big balance. Just quit whilst you're ahead and don't get greedy.

If the very first bet fails, and you keep doubling down as per the system you could very well lose your betting cap and not have made a single satoshi.

If you're going to gamble, just place the damn bets independently and enjoy it responsibly.  Don't try to out-hink a system which is stacked against you.
1644  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Bitcoins with old rigs on: June 22, 2014, 09:51:09 AM
Best way to make money out of that rig is to sell it at a garage sale or on eBay and use those funds to buy the crypto you want.  It would save time, your sanity, and electricity.
1645  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: dust coins on: June 22, 2014, 09:47:45 AM
Generally very small amounts of bitcoins, i.e. the stuff you'd normally get from faucets and the like.

EDIT: Does anyone know what the precise limit for "dust" is? I find faucet payments of ~10,000 sats to be quite useful because they can be used for paying fees when moving larger amounts around.

You don't know that if you add dust to your wallet it actually increases the amount of fees you have to pay?  If some of the dust is going in the actual payment amount then it gets added into the trans info and ends up making it larger in size, so you end up paying larger fees.  It's best to avoid adding dust to any wallet with a sizable amount.

As long as the house has an edge there is no "system" to beat them - just algorithms to control your losses  Cheesy
1647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: June 22, 2014, 09:08:43 AM
Yeah LTC is not dead for lack of new innovation.  The innovation is the simple fact that it is not inflatable fiat.

What LTC needs to catch up to BTC is a good company to accept it as a form of payment.  If coinbase adds LTC to their exchange then I could see that as a possibility.
1648  Other / Off-topic / Re: Pizza! on: June 22, 2014, 08:46:23 AM
Thin crust BBQ Chicken is the only way to go

Normally this would be my fav but sometimes a nice clean veggie hits the spot if not too hungry.  When I'm starving it gets piled on with meats Smiley

I have trained my monkeys to clean the floor.  Unfortunately they're making more of a mess than they are cleaning.  So no they have not fulfilled their purpose in life.

Should you be walking out West?
1650  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your favorite game on: June 22, 2014, 08:25:11 AM
I spent more hours playing Civilization series than anything else, but Master of Orion was the 1 game I played the most.  Guild Wars 1/2 ranks up there for me as well.

Warm liquid is quickly absorbed in the stomach/duodenum and can put you to sleep pretty quick.  Milk works well as long as you're not intolerant.
1653  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you buy? on: June 22, 2014, 08:09:52 AM
All 1K in LTC.  I have mined at least 20 altcoins in addition to BTC.  None has been more stable and profitable than LTC.  I don't bother with those premine coins or pump and dump schemes - money for a few but such a waste of time - the coins end up functionally dead - you're basically stealing money from new investors.
1654  Other / Off-topic / Re: LET'S GET US SOME PIZZA! (post pictures of pizza here) on: June 22, 2014, 08:07:02 AM
Damn I hate you people.  Was sitting here eating carrots. Bastards, now I have to drive out and find something at 1AM!

May you all be attacked by Pizza The Hutt:
1655  Other / Off-topic / Re: What was the BTC price when you joined the community? on: June 22, 2014, 07:54:08 AM
I started mining at $20 but didn't bother joining to post until it had dropped to $15.  It kept dropping to $2... and I didn't buy any coins....Doh!

Vision.  I lose that and I don't think I could ever function without getting mad every day.
1657  Other / Meta / Re: was goat perma-banned? on: June 22, 2014, 07:50:51 AM
I think that would make this the 2nd Goat banning.  He was involved heavily with the Pirate BCS&T and the securities crashes, got banned, bounced back and not sure what happened this time.  I believe he lives in Thailand

PG on the other hand, well he may have been exposed by the BFL employee who posted in the hardware subforum.
1658  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [12000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: June 22, 2014, 05:46:41 AM
I'm here to complain about the good luck...

Mainly cause I have an S2 coming monday Cheesy

Don't complain.  The faster the pool gets back to neutral for 3 month period (yes I know we were scammed with the withholder) the more likely people are to leave Ghash.IO. Sadly the withholder coincided with people flocking over there.... I'm sure Bitpop would see it as a concerted attack though Tongue
1659  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo Mining with old outdated equipment? on: June 22, 2014, 05:36:57 AM
You are more likely to be struck by lightning than you are to be solve a block.  So the potential is there, but odds most certainly are not in your favor.  Turn off the miner but keep it as a novelty unless you enjoy seeing CGMiner running  Cheesy
1660  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: web base mining on: June 22, 2014, 05:33:27 AM
These feeble web based mining attempts peaked in 2011 and then died off back then.  Every once in a while somebody will get a light bulb only to be shot down  Grin

Basically it's not worth the hassle.
