2521  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: July 28, 2022, 04:34:31 AM
It pains me to bump this thread again...  It really does...  I read an article today though that says McGregor and Mayweather are currently in talks to do a repeat of their last fight.  Supposedly they're arguing now over what the rules would be.  Dana White recently said that he wouldn't sign off that fight, but money talks and I'm sure he says that every time he would have to go into a negotiation like that.  It sounds like a fight is making progress though, which is confusing because McGregor said that his return would be in the octagon not the square.
As usual, these fellas need to set up something just to fill their pockets once again on simply showing off some jabs and running and viola... Easy millions.

Just snipping out something from this article.
Mayweather has reportedly offered McGregor $157.9million (£131.5m) for the rematch and is said to be willing to put his unbeaten professional record on the line.

https://www.sportbible.com/boxing/conor-mcgregor-floyd-mayweather-rematch-20220726

For Dana, when the money involved is something that cant really be ignored then i wont really be surprised if he would be signing up.

I disagree. Uncle Dana has already mentioned many times that he does not want to be involved in promoting UFC fighters in boxing anymore. He certainly made money in Conor versus Floyd Mayweather, however, Conor lost the fight and this reduced the UFC's branding. Francis Ngannou wanted to fight Tyson Fury, Dana said no. Kamaru Usman wanted to box versus Canelo, Dana also said no.

Lock this thread.
2522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao - Sept 23 on: July 28, 2022, 04:06:08 AM
Shakur is really huge favorited and it makes me to bet him is really unprofitable, I think I wouldn't bet and only watch the fight.

Honestly I don't know why Shakur want to fight against Conceicao because he already enough power to beat other champions e.g. Joe Cordina and Roger Gutiérrez, so he will become undisputed champion on super featherweight division. I'm expecting a KO from Shakur on the late round 9 or above.

I also tend to agree Conceicao won that fight against Oscar Valdez, but in this fight he would completely lost against Shakur.

His probably targeting both champions later, this is just another step for him, different kind of style and see how he will adapt on Conceicao. I think if he gets over Conceicao just like how he dispose Valdez, both Cordina and Gutierrez will be an easy fight for him.

Stevenson - 1.05
Conceicao - 9.60

The odds are very small for Shakur and I am also sure odds for the rounds will be over 10.5 rounds and very small too. If this was an ICO, it would be one of those scam pump and dumps that have been forgotten after the first pump hehehe.

I don't think there will be much difference or change in the odds. Stevenson is taking over this division and as I have said, unification this might will happen. Perhaps just a question on how much money is involved against Cordina and Gutierrez.

Edit: I also added a poll.

The poll should include if the fight will finish and reach the decision. A big favorite like Shakur Stevenson would imply that he can knockout Robson Conceicao. However, if you look at their records I predict this will reach the decision. Also, where do you think or speculate thr sportsbooks will place the over and the under? 7.5 rounds? This implies over 7.5 rounds is a better bet thsn under, I reckon.
2523  Economy / Speculation / Re: Effect of Tesla bitcoin sale not significant on: July 28, 2022, 03:18:30 AM
I heard that it could have to do with ESG regulatory compliance. Aka a transparent risk management framework.
He might have been forced to sell to lower the risk...

This sounds interesting, but I'm certain that another reason was to also have a good looking balance sheet.

Yes, they clearly did it to report positive earnings for their 2nd quarter conference call. According to this article, Tesla sold $936 million and this gave Tesla a quarterly profit of $64 million. If they did not sell their bitcoin, their earnings report would ceratinly be negative.

As per the company's 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Tesla sold 75 percent of its bitcoin (BTC) holding for a total of $936 million. In the process, the electric car company made a profit of $64 million in the second quarter of 2022.

~

Can you also include the question next to the statement from me that you quoted?

Hihi, I didn't include it because I didn't want to poke at the wasp nest and because it's really complicated.

Would I want to see the end of centralized exchanges and their obvious manipulation as well as the end of those shitty tokens that are basically printing money without backing? Yes! Would I like to see everything going down in flames right now with the revelation that Binance itself is running on borrowed money on their BNB token and crash taking millions in deposits from users? Not really!

That's why I avoided it and it's a lot more complicated than just the 3 lines above! Right now is similar to brood parasitism, where we've fed this with our fees only for him to turn his back against both the bitcoin and eth communities that made his exchange so big.

Hehehe agreed. It is very complicated and if I am being honest, no one should put any member of the cryptospace community in a purity test.
2525  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-20] Novogratz says ‘worst is over’ and that Bitcoin will surge on: July 27, 2022, 02:42:47 AM
@Kakmakr. However, the argument. Is Novogratz correct or is he becoming something similar to Tom Lee and his predictions when bitcoin was in a bear market during 2018. It was the beginning of 2018 when Tom Lee predicted that bitcoin will pump to $25,000. Also, no I am not antagonizing. I am smiling as a type this, however. I am as confused as everyone hehehehehe.
2526  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance temporary suspending Bitcoin network on: July 27, 2022, 01:50:43 AM
Also, CZ filed a lawsuit against Bloomberg and I am quite certain many people in the forum would agree that CZ might be running a ponzi scheme.

Did he win that lawsuit against Nikkei when he accused them of unprofessional journalism and misleading facts about Binance losing its right to operate in Japan?
Did he win the lawsuit against Forbes? no, he decided to drop it and rather than that spend money on buying it, which can be labeled as the same sketchiness he was accused of every single time.

Can you also include the question next to the statement from me that you quoted? I am not telling everyone that CZ or Binance are guilty or innocent. I am asking everyone that is it good for us as investors in the cryptospace to want CZ to be guilty of running a ponzi scheme and go to prison? It might be another storyline for a big short.
2527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: July 26, 2022, 07:31:20 AM
Only a couple weeks to go before preseason...

I have not done the research on the players because of laziness hehehe. I also have not practiced on Yahoo's draft yet.

In any case, I might choose the same players last year with some changes in wide receivers and pick those more familiar and popular names. I was being too smart last season and chose those who might be underestimated. I was lucky to get Ekeler and Najee Harris, however, much of my players in the team were useless.
2528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 26, 2022, 06:12:34 AM
I wouldn't call him fake Khabib. I think he can be the new Khabib, especially if he keeps decimating opponents as he has been. Diaz will give him a good run for his money I'm sure and I am definitely looking forward to this fight. Hopefully it's a fight like Chimaev's last against Burns where he was the first person to go the distance with him. Khamzat definitely wasn't expecting that. Diaz has only been knocked out once I believe and even that was a ref stoppage (though he was getting battered on the floor and his corner threw in the towel as the ref went to stop it). All other fights I think he's either won or lost on points so this fight going the distance is certainly a possibility.
Burns has always been underestimated I feel. He showed up in that fight, and it's the first time we've seen Chimaev actually hurt. Like, at one point I'm pretty sure his legs give out under him. He was hurt, and as DC would say "hurt bad". However, I'm not sure if he will be the next khabib, different fighting styles. Chimaev could've gone to the ground a little more against Burns, but he seems rather stubborn, and wanted to stand toe to toe, and hopefully knock him out. While after the fight he admitted this was a mistake, it was probably due to Burns' ground game, despite Chimaev being more than proficient in that area.

Khabib on the other hand, stayed safe the majority of the time. He didn't fall in love with knocking people out, and instead stuck to his game plan. I'm not sure at least at this stage of his career if Chimaev has the same discipline as Khabib.

Agreed and according to this interview with Chimaev, he wants to fight Gilbert Burns again. However, according to his own statement from the same interview, this might imply that it might be another disapponting performance from Chimaev. Read his statement highlighted in yellow. He should certainly listen to his coach.

Chimaev then revealed the possibility of facing Burns again down the line.

“I hope one day I fight again with him,” Chimaev said. “I was a little bit stupid in that fight, just going forward. I didn’t work my footwork, I didn’t show my boxing skills.”

Chimaev was then asked if he’s taken time to re-watch his win over Burns at UFC 273.

“No, my coach (wants me to watch that fight). I don’t want to watch. I want to fight,” Chimaev revealed.

The timing of the withdrawal suspension is also very head shaking because it was during the big dump of June from $28k to $22k. This is causing mainstream news media become very skeptical and have began publishing articles implying that Binance is ponzi scheme.

Also, CZ filed a lawsuit against Bloomberg and I am quite certain many people in the forum would agree that CZ might be running a ponzi scheme. However, would we as investors in the cryptospace really want CZ to lose this lawsuit?

Changpeng "CZ" Zhao is suing Bloomberg Businessweek for three allegedly defamatory statements published earlier this month through the publication’s Chinese edition—which is distributed in Hong Kong—and its affiliated Twitter and Facebook accounts.

2530  Other / Archival / Re: Binance Expands Crypto Adoption on: July 26, 2022, 04:54:25 AM
I only disagree to the argument that any concept in the cryptospace to create and develop something that is not bitcoin is a scam.

Where did you dug up such arguments in this topic, can be curious?

In this topic, the arguments (on my part) come down to the fact that any current use of cryptocurrency, including bitcoin, is only speculative in nature, which does not fit with what this or that type of coin was intended for. All this is irrelevant until people learn to see cryptocurrencies as something more than just a scheme - buy low and sell high.

I did not say it was mentioned by you or that you are one of those people, however, there is this purity test among many bitcoin hodlers that if you fail this test, you will be their example of an enemy of bitcoin. This has occured very recently to Nic Carter. I am not certain if you know him but he has been one of the smartest people who give good arguments based on reality on why we should invest in bitcoin. They cancelled him only because his venture fund invested in a cryptowallet that accepts altcoins hehehe.
2531  Economy / Speculation / Re: Effect of Tesla bitcoin sale not significant on: July 25, 2022, 05:53:31 AM
Based on price averaging, it can be inferred that Tesla lost money in the most recent bitcoin sale, but we don't have specific data for their bitcoin buy orders so nothing can be confirmed.

I agree with this because it really has a basis.

In fact, some news has indicated that Tesla has an average buy at $29k but I doubt this is the price Tesla bought back after the big sale in May 2021.  Although the difference may not seem like much, I think Elon is not an unreliable person and he certainly does not want to hold that huge pressure.
Wondering why they sell at a big loss and yet Elon is claiming that they have a diamond hands. We should really not to rely on any statements from Elon because he is trying to Manipulate the market again. There’s a huge effect  of this action since we are talking about big money here and probably this is one of the reason why we are still down today. Big investors like Tesla is a big loss but then again, someone will just catch those falling knives to hold longer and play wisely.

I heard that it could have to do with ESG regulatory compliance. Aka a transparent risk management framework.
He might have been forced to sell to lower the risk...

Tesla can invent many reasons why they have decided to sell their bitcoins, however, the reality might be Tesla cannot hold a speculative investment that brings negative numbers in their monthly income statement during a bear market. It will not attract investors in their stock and will not be good for the price.
2532  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-14] Nic Carter vs. The Bitcoin Maximalists on: July 25, 2022, 05:02:21 AM
@goldkingcoiner. So according to your argument, if bitcoin fails, no other project in the cryptospace should succeed? Is this not very much removed from reality?

I am also not saying that bitcoin will die. I am only asking if the people would reconsider using bitcoin as a store of value if it has been overtaken in market capitalization by another coin and if bitcoin's value falls continuously.
2533  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-14] Nic Carter vs. The Bitcoin Maximalists on: July 25, 2022, 02:09:13 AM
Although I say I am ok with some altcoins, I still see myself as a Bitcoin maxi. Why? Because I would not feel safe storing my money in form of any cryptocurrency but Bitcoin, long term.

You should not say that. The maximalists might remove you from their membership hehehe. There is no second best, only bitcoin. If you break the circle jerk, you are out.

Also, I give you an argument. What if bitcoin was overtaken by another coin in market capitalization because bitcoin has been falling in value. Would this cause you to reconsider bitcoin as a store of value?
2534  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [7-21-2022]Insider trading charges filed against CB employee on: July 25, 2022, 01:49:47 AM
I am not quite certain why it is only now mainstream media is considering this as news. Anyone who has been in the cryptospace for more than 5 years knows that all of the exchanges are guilty of this. This was one of the stratgies used during 2016 and 2017 that made Binance into the largest exchange we have today.

In any case, you are correct. It is arguable that some of the tokens that can be considered securites might not be securities. This is because the SEC uses an old process called the Howey test. In a time of Defi liquidity providing and yield farming, I reckon that the SEC should update their process.
2535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao - Sept 23 on: July 24, 2022, 07:51:38 AM

Shakur Stevenson should challenge the other championship holders in his weight class for a move on unifying all the championships similar to Naoya Inoue.
2536  Economy / Speculation / Re: On not very shocking news, Tesla dumps majority of bitcoin on: July 24, 2022, 07:30:31 AM
After Elon's dump, the beginning of fud by bitcoin news media hehehe. Saylor is holding 129,699, according to some bitcoin news that track Saylor's purchases. This is less than what is mentioned in this tweet. Also, I am quite certain Saylor will never sell unless he wants to deleverage the risk. However, it would be another not very shocking news if Microstrategy announced a deleveraging only if bitcoin dumped to $10k which I speculate is impossible.

Rumors are circulating that MicroStrategy has sold 132,382 $BTC

2537  Economy / Speculation / Re: Effect of Tesla bitcoin sale not significant on: July 24, 2022, 06:33:48 AM
@pooya87. This is very similar to much of the hodlers in the cryptospace. It might not be only hypocrisy, however. It might also be voluntary blindness from reality and acceptance of anything an influencer would tell them as long as it will help pump the price of bitcoin. I am not being an antagonist, however, bitcoin is not working that good as a hedge for inflation, a store of value and as a medium of exchange. I speculate that many people in the community are beginning to understand this but they are only quiet to avoid being attacked.
2538  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-20] Novogratz says ‘worst is over’ and that Bitcoin will surge on: July 24, 2022, 05:45:50 AM
Heheheehe I agree that the person who has said it is a joker, however, is the worst really over or is he someone similar to our favorite 2018 friend Tom Lee?

I already mentioned something before about Tom Lee and Novogratz, and that is that I never thought that I would put these two in roughly the same category, but that's what happened. Tom Lee is a man who has been consistent in his statements, no matter how misguided they may have been, and honestly he always seemed very confused and hesitant to me when I watched any video where he talked about Bitcoin. When he announced the ban of Bitcoin in the US because Trump banned some kind of cigarettes (flavored or electronic, I don't remember anymore) I think he hit the bottom of his speculations.

However, is Novogratz's speculation that the worst is over correct or not? Should we as investors begin buying again and wait for the bull market to return or do we wait for a dump lower? I really want him to be correct but his Luna tattoo might be a warning sign that he might be wrong again hehehehehe.

In any case, there is also news that coins from Mt.Gox will be returned to the owners. I speculate that much of them would become the marginal sellers of this bear market and dump much of their coins causing another low.

@stompix. He also has a picture eating a raw unsliced cucumber hehehehe. He is a vegan. I do not know how a vegan can become fat like him, however.

I reckon one of those charitable causes is donating money they earn to the Democratic party hehe. According to some articles, Sam was one of the largest donors to Biden's presidential bid and the Democratic party.
2540  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do you know how to trust online sportsbooks? on: July 22, 2022, 04:50:15 AM
You can start by checking the online sportsbooks if they are licensed and regulated by a reputable body, a good online sportsbook will offer all the major sports as well as verities of market and betting options, then take a look at the security features that are in place, by so doing you can be sure that you are safely and securely betting online.
Personally, the license is not the main basis for me, I would go on reputation rather than license as a sportsbook can easily get a license but it's hard to maintain a good reputation. Also, a license sportsbook can restrict us based on the guidelines directed to them by the regulators, and that means we cannot gamble completely anonymous.

Agreed! 1xbit might be a very good example on how a sportsbook with a license can also have a very low rating on trust from the community because of the poor reputation. I am not quite certain how it they received a very low and negative trust rating but I can only assume that it might have not paid a reputable member of bitcointalk his withdrawal hehe.

The fiat version of their sportsbook called 1xbet also has a negative trust rating according to many comments on other gambling forums.
