2521  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The price of New Blade and Mini Blade was announced by rockxie on: July 11, 2013, 10:03:21 PM
but you know whats crazy is guys paid 50 BTC for blades and have been mining since mid May reaping a fortune and if they were smart they sold it a couple weeks ago. They were still selling for 35-40 BTC WAY over ROI. People told them they would never ROI at 50 BTC but if they sold for 35-40BTC a few weeks ago they probably made a fortune.

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to say?

They bought a blade in Mid-May, then they haven't gotten anywhere near their ROI up to now. Thats is less than 30 days span of time to make any BTC before they "allegedly" sold it off.

If they then sold them off for 35 or 40 BTC then that means for them to break even...they would have had to have made anywhere from 10 BTC to 15 BTC in that lapse of time. This only to actually break even.

So your statement is confusing. Are you saying that someone who purchased a Mid-May blade made back at least 10 to 15 BTC before they sold it off to some other fool for the remaining difference??

If not, then they just got out of it what they put into it...at best.

Lets start a delete war. Let's see how many posts and how much time will you lose by deleting my posts Cheesy

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253282.0

This is hardly proof you are not trolling. You seek to prove your innocence by confirming your guilt.   Huh

Please follow the history. I wasn't trolling at start. I was asking legitimate questions who were ignored. Now i'm trolling since i was treated like this by the OP. Since he is allowed to delete my legitimate questions i think i'm allowed to troll. Troll on!

My point is: you are invalidating your argument that Ken deletes rational posts by making irrational posts.
Actually he seems to be deleting any inconvenient post(s) on his own thread.

Two of mine were deleted as well.

So your point is invalid it seems. It is alright for people to point out the censorship even when it was seemingly unnecessary.

So you are telling us you can sell 10GH/s blades to us for under $700 USD ?

3999Y ~= $ 655 USD ?

Why does this smell fishy to me ?
I think it is obvious that friedcat is generally aware of how much his blades will actually make over a long period of time.

If you buy a blade, you give friedcat [upfront] what the blade will produce (in BTC) in the next year.  So he takes on almost no risk selling you the blade. The ROI (when you make back what it costs) is "all risk" that is offloaded on you...so you assume the "full risk" over the next year.

To be honest buying a 10Gh/s blade at that price is sheer stupidity. Your basically giving friedcat what the blade will eventually produce up front. Then waiting for the next year [as the buyer] to make it back...if luck is with you.

----------------------------

The only reason anyone would buy a blade at this price is if your intended to offload it unto an even bigger idiot. Someone who is going to put *you* in the position of "friedcat". Your second hand buyer (if they are stupid enough) will buy it off you and give you the BTC or currency up front. While they take an even higher/compounding risk [no, a certainty] that they will not make it back in the next year.

If the blade does not make 18BTC over the next year....how will it make the extra profit that the reseller attaches to it??

It is just too stupid to contemplate.

40% / month are more than likely.

compare btc buy-in and mining buy-in results in USD as well as in BTC.

disclaimer: I am AM shareholder and own some UBE soon.

There is one critical flaw in that calculator.

The difficulty is increased at 30 day intervals. Even if set at 40% that is not reflective of reality.

If you decrease the interval to 14 days and 20% for that period, you'll see the end number change quite drastically.

I know, because I created an excel sheet to do this. I included the ability to change the period. The frequency of the difficulty change makes a dramatic difference in the overall sum of btc collected over the course of a year.

The calculator is (really good) but it doesn't have a realistic frequency for difficulty changes. So the numbers it gives are drastically different than what it should be.

any chance I could look at that spreadsheet?

+18% forever of course.

That 7,300% increase per year.

You guys do realize there is an upper bound for difficulty and that is based on currently available hardware efficiency (MH/$ and MH/%).  Miners won't deploy new hardware when it is unprofitable from day 0.
Irony.

This said in a thread where people are buying miners at a loss.

So tell me again why people won't be buying hardware even when it is unprofitable?

2530  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Restructuring cooling capacity for Avalon on: July 10, 2013, 06:47:35 AM
Hey puerto .. what about this fan, it may fit the bill:
http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/delta-afb1212she-cf00-120mm-ultra-high-speed.html

bunch more options here too:

http://1stpccorp.com/fan_delta_120mm.htm
Ah, looks interesting.

Does anyone know if the Avalon unit will startup if the fans remain disconnected from the system? (Perhaps bypassing the internal controller is a better idea?)
2531  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Restructuring cooling capacity for Avalon on: July 10, 2013, 06:35:07 AM
Ah,
I investigated that fan, it was quite (excessively) powerful.

The problem is, I don't know if that particular fan comes with a molex connector (due to the heavy power requirements it probably should!).

The final problem is that I wouldn't know how to compile the fork for that particular firmware. Unless it is already precompiled somewhere?

Any idea where I could buy this fan from? (If It doesn't work for the Avalon unit, I'll put it to other good uses.
2532  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The price of New Blade and Mini Blade was announced by rockxie on: July 10, 2013, 05:56:14 AM
Unfortunately, still overpriced.

For you suckers out there, this is the time to buy! Strike while the ASIC blade is hot?!
2533  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Restructuring cooling capacity for Avalon on: July 10, 2013, 05:48:47 AM
@ Dogie

Actually, they are about the same:

50db (Avalon Stock) vs 50.5db (Gentle Typhoon 5400rpm)

https://en.bitcoin.it/w/images/en/8/88/Avalon-fan.jpg

Specs:

http://www.nmbtc.com/fans/part-numbers/DC-Axial/4715KL-04W-B56/5267

The static pressure on the Stock Avalon fans are actually lower. So is the CFM.

------------------------------

Regardless, the RPM's is what I am trying to control. If I don't have to put in a fan controller it would be the best solution. Anyone have any clues as to the questions above?
2534  Bitcoin / Hardware / Restructuring cooling capacity for Avalon on: July 10, 2013, 03:27:20 AM
 Wink

I am about to buy some Fan upgrades for my Avalon but I need some advice.

I have settled on three of the Gentle Typhoon series (5400rpm) of fans which seem to have better static pressure and more airflow (CFM):

http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/Case%20fan/001/Scytheusa-ProductsgentleCaseFan001index.html

I need some advice though on the internal setup. The Gentle Typhoon is a 3 pin fan. The power for the fan is being pulled from a molex connector via the PSU. So power isn't the issue, fan control is. I have been looking over the photo's provided by Avalon for the control unit:

I noticed that the unit has 5 headers and they all seem to be 4pin. I know I can just connect the 3 pin into it. What I don't know is if this simple board does any kind of voltage regulation for 3 pin fans?

I realize PWM was invented because you could modify the RPM by a signal rather than by a voltage such as 3 pin fans had been.

So my first question is, Does this control unit properly apply 3 pin voltage regulation for 3 pin fans?

-----------------------------

My second question is: I believe that 2 out of 3 fans used in Avalon Batch 1 were PWM enabled Deltas. Any idea whether the third (transparent fan) is also PWM or if it is a standard 3 pin fan?

I intend to overclock this Avalon and I want to minimize the risk from overheating. Can anyone who has taken apart their Avalon (batch 1 & 2) please fill in the gaps for me on these particular questions?

This describes the BFL hype very appropriately:

Of course, when graphed, BFL's expectations and performance end with a tail spin and subsequent pitch fork shapes from angry crowds?

Trouble in paradise? There might possibly be a delay due to that darn x-link.

X-Link: Apparently a BFL proprietary design for linking boards together.
2537  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL refund through Paypal claim on: July 08, 2013, 10:34:46 PM
There is a weak link somewhere in the chain of a successful Ebay (p)re-sale.

The question(s) of the day is:

Are you the weakest link because you can't deliver to your customer on time? Or is it BFL because they can't seemingly deliver "to you" on time?

2538  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL refund through Paypal claim on: July 08, 2013, 10:28:47 PM
Are you guys selling your preorders on ebay or just filing a claim with Paypal/FTC?

If I sell my pre-order on ebay and am paid through paypal, and these clowns never end up shipping, or ship a year from now, what's stopping the buyer from initiating a chargeback?
Ebay and Paypal is not designed (policy wise) for BFL pre-orders...nor their subsequent resale. (In my Opinion)

If you resell "promises" of delivery based on what BFL has told you, expect your own customer to be just as screwed as you were. You are just becoming a repeater of promises and hence, you will be charged back.

Lets all join a Kumbaya circle and chargeback on each other?

Due to your non-response via PM's, Emails and support tickets for 10 days. I request a refund.

(This is a prerequisite to earning a scammer tag if you refuse.)

Well apparently he does not have the time to answer emails nor PM's.

But he does have the time to take out money from the wallet that he accepts payment with.

So, it's official. Scammer. Someone make a scam accusation thread so we can nail the coffin.
