so basically the news is that we're all proper fucked. if chips are 'stuck in customs', shouldn't buyers have gotten tracking info / notification on shipping before that happened? anyone have any insight on that process? wonder how many people will actually order the next gen stuff from these guys  IF they have it in stock AND at a "reasonable" $/GH/s ratio I guess a metric fuck ton of people will (including possibly me) lol +1 |

Here's the important part: Unit Batches
Batch three have completely left our hands, may DHL be swift in their deliveries. The refunds will shortly follow, this is the same for any tradein orders ( ran into issues such as some people were receiving their address to pay while other are not). we understand we are very late in this department of processing any customer support related issue, we will not be making any excuses, but this is literally the only thing left on our plate now. In the future we hope to eliminate this problem by selling only in stock products that will ship in under 3 days.
On the horizon are two new product designs, we are fairly happy with the batch 3 design, which will conclude as the Avalon Version 1 final design. In addition we will have a new 2 module unit coming to market and a 2U 17inch deep server blade slated as Avalon Version 2.
Chips
Chip Orders
While we have send out some chip orders, there is currently ~200k chips stuck in custom right at this moment for about 2 weeks now, this matter is very painful for us and our customers. As majority of the chip orders ( 70% ) totaling ~800k is made between early and mid-may resulting in a tight time frame to work with. We do have more chips coming in via different route next week which will ease this a little bit. (you can take this as chips will resume shipping by end of next week for now.)
Next Generation
We will take this time to fulfill a promise to announce the next generation chip 2 month ahead of schedule so potential buyers can make a decision. Soon we will be disabling the pre-order of Avalon Gen1 chips and only sell the remaining stock as we phase out old technology for a new 55nm, which goes on sale for immediate delivery at mid October 2013. This 55nm will retain the same physical dimension as the 110nm Gen1, only few pads were changed so getting them up and running requires very little change to existing design.
In addition, there is 2 more chip designs in the pipeline, we have decided to proceed developing Gen3 and Gen4 in parallel due to the long R&D time of low processor nodes, both of these will be a Full Custom ASIC design.

There is no much room in the pricing. If they are >4 weeks late (i.e. deliver late Nov) you are not gonna ROI. If they deliver on time, you will profit ~6k. This is with current difficulty slope and $/btc.
So... it's about the same type of deal as every other ASIC pre-order out there right now.. Is this surprising to you?! Why would they sell for cheaper when they can just mine with them? |

Makes me sad to read this. Seemed like an "honest" guy. I always try to find group buys where the OP actual gives proof of identity. Like showing ID for JohnK etc. Still I guess the only way to be sure is to use escrow. I don't get why so few GB's have escrow option? Maybe the reason is that this would be impossible when selling shares of larger miners, no? I mean if you look at stock exchanges like: btct.co they cannot guarantee that you won't get scammed. It's the nature of bitcoin I think, when you have no regulations or central authority there will always be scammers. My reason for not using escrow is simply because I don't want to pay a fee, and I feel like I've done enough business on these forums where 99% of the people here trust me and know I have good intentions. My identity is known by more than 10 forum members, so you would have no problem tracking me down if shit hit the fan. Also, I like to order hardware ASAP as soon as I receive funds so that we can go ahead and get our place in line. Escrow only delays this. I'm not surprised that vdragon GB was a scam btw. I remember seeing this and thinking it was really fishy that he himself had "ordered" 727 Block Erupters for himself. Any serious miner (not a hobby) is not going to even want Block Erupters, much less 700+ of them (unless they are reselling them like I did for a couple rounds  .) |

Sure, I will do that tonight. EDIT: Again, I would like to state the the purpose of this group buy is not to have the lowest $ per GH price. It is to spread our investment to as many manufacturers as possible to hedge our investment. Ordering from one manufacturer can be dangerous because if they delay, then you and your investors are screwed. That happened with my first group buy with Avalon. This is why I came up with the plan to order from many manufacturers, to lower the risk of pre-ordering ASICs. |

This looks like an interesting investment opportunity, but why wouldn't someone wait until a closing date is announced and then buy-in at the last minute?
Although I said I will do my best to update the thread when I am nearing capacity, it is possible capacity could be reached just by one large investment. So, the plus side of sending in early is to secure your spot in the group buy. If this fills up and you don't get in, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Other group buys will pop up or are already accepting orders. I like to think that the plus side of ordering with me is that I am extremely trustworthy, am very capable of setting up and maintaining this large of a farm, and also I run a very transparent operation that leaves no room for foul play on my end. |

I would bet that this guy has X Gh running and wants to protect his investment by spreading FUD. Is it possible the manufacturers delay? Of course there is always that possibility, but to say they will for sure is silly. Especially when you make this claim about Bitfury, when it's still pretty much unknown whether they're legit or not. I'd venture to say that you have no evidence that Bitfury will delay do you? |

Thanks I have a feeling this will be open for about a month, at the very least a couple more weeks. I think there should be more than enough time for you to do what you've got to do. UPDATE:
I wanted to explain about the transactions with VMC in case anyone was wondering. Let me preface this by saying I hate MtGox as a payment processor, there is a reason why Bitpay is #1 in that sector.
So.. I get to the MtGox order screen. It said send 78.458647 BTC to xyz address (9cb0540b9a8cd5eca613898ff6266c7fe048ea209602959756a472f30540ddf5.) So, I did that and for forever it was stuck on the screen that said "There is not enough Bitcoins on the payment address, please send the Bitcoin payment to the address listed below."
Meanwhile, the amount of BTC I'm supposed to send is fluctuating with the current Mt.Gox price, so even though I sent in enough coins the first time- the exchange rate changed in between when I sent the first transaction and when the payment was processed by Gox. So I ended up having to send in another 1.433653 BTC (febd36dd254d607015c94f658a189d2e2e66caeca21d5d1f743c8ba9f1437eaf.) This time it finally switches over to paid, and we received a small refund of 0.85440364 BTC from Mt.Gox (d79dd61c13f21b11831bbe4dfeec0f0a0758bab9f0a63cb37452bcd7ccc4a779.)
I just wanted to explain this chain of events in case anyone was looking at the block chain in regards to the group buy account and was wondering what happened.
Also, I just placed another order for another October Bitfury 400 Gh. We have 39.30000364 BTC leftover for the purchase of a second KNC Jupiter.

Well this is not reassuring at all. All 5 of mine make a ticking noise. And it sounds kind of similar, but hard to tell. I've inspected all of them and found nothing odd. Nothing visually wrong, no odors or anything. I am going to keep an eye on them, but even the ones that were assembled by Avalon with PSUs do it so I'm still thinking it's normal.
What mhz you running at for the ones with Avalon provided with PSUs? I only have 3-module batch 2 styles that came with PSUs, and those are all at 350 too. I would be scared to run the batch 3s at 350 with the PSUs they shipped with, but I know you have with good results. I would by lying if I said I wasn't worried about them, but yes they have been running fine. I am going to try and get approval from the investors in my group buy to get some quality PSUs. The thing is.. the ROI is so slim, that buying new PSUs might kill any profit that is left.  Decisions, decisions.. |
