2541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: July 03, 2016, 04:11:24 PM
The 3Billion coin dump is insane.  It will take the price below 100 sats.

Was thinking about this. I plan to claim my lumens, free coins lol, but I'm concerned so will the rest of the crypto world, and in near the same time frame. Price will plummet, question is should I sell ASAP, or hodl since they are free and hold long term? Can always rebuy cheaper I feel, seems like the stronger strategy.
2542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DECENTRALIZED crypto currency (including Bitcoin) is a delusion (any solutions?) on: July 03, 2016, 04:03:09 PM
We were doing good before asics were made. We could do alot by looking at algos that allow more of the public to participate in mining on common devices, instead of requiring dedicated equipment that makes mining more a business endeavor than a casual pursuit at this point.
2543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Simple solution to the problem of centralisation in btc already built in on: July 03, 2016, 03:54:04 PM
Methinks we haven't really seen the start of the mining industry yet. What I mean is, while our mining technology is cool, the devices we rely on have mostly been made by random startups like asic and bitmain. Government actors haven't came into this; I'm thinking a gov could design a much more efficient or powerful miner, and have enough resources to deploy as much hashrqte as it wants. Governments don't need to sell coin to pay the bills however, and  they have little incentive to dump the coin back on the market. Ultimately, large corporation/state actor interest will move the centralization out of China, but it will always be centralized now that mining isn't something you can do on an average, internet connected device. You have to pay to play now  Grin
2544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We can be better than this! on: July 03, 2016, 03:46:18 PM
Even the legitimate coins are a scam. Only around 10 projects in crypto are legit and not based on groundless speculation. I only invest in projects like Loyyal that has an inbuilt business or economy that means people will use it. I don't see anyone really using coins like NEM, NXT etc in any great way....it's just the same speculators playing musical chairs.

+1. The coins that actually have promise (fill a unique niche) usually fade into the background after the initial funding is procured. This is a thing with devs, sometimes, once you start paying them, the work slows down to a crawl. So many coins come into the space, asking for cash, get it, and wither into to an butthurt altcoin section posting by a disgruntled bag holder.
2545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Projects and Crypto Platforms Info. Do Your Research, Make Profitable Trades on: July 03, 2016, 03:40:31 PM
I noticed the R3 consortium is going with its own proprietary block chain now. Was this the case before the DAO debacle, or is this a result?

I don't think R3 commited in using Ethereum.  Sure they did some tests and research using the platform, but I don't think they found it as something they would use.  R3 apparently hired Peter Todd as a consultant.  Please listen to the interview posted a couple of posts above.  He basically bashed Ethereum and Solidity specifically.

Thanks man, laying next to the misses on the mobile so I can't play any sound ATM, but I will take a listen to this over my morning cup Smiley

2546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: suggest best altcoin as of today July 2016 on: July 03, 2016, 03:27:33 PM
Hi guys can you suggest a good and stable alt coin? popular altcoin with reliable exchanger? and stable wallet.. acts just like bitcoin.. Smiley
i want to explore other coins aside from bitcoin i am looking into litecoin but i want to hear from you.

You just described litecoin to a tee.  And I'm not holding any, in case you are wondering, and don't plan to buy any soon. Also, you might want to consider just buying some bitcoin. It's a popular coin with many reliable exchangers and money stables wallet implementations.
2547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paycoin XPY promises $20 a coin? on: July 03, 2016, 03:24:31 PM
OMG. This was likely the biggest scam in crypto. No one knows how many millions of dollars were raked in by paycoin and cloud miners. I don't think anyone has been brought to justice either which is the beauty of crypto scams.

The SEC brought charges against Josh Garza, last December.

Lol, and the coin is still openly listed on exchanges?

I guess, more importantly, people still speculate on this asset?
2548  Other / Off-topic / Re: You control the Bitcoin network, what is your next step? on: July 03, 2016, 02:25:03 PM
I control the Bitcoin network,  Shocked what are your next steps?

Make everyone sit down and figure out this blocksize bullshit. It's our major issue at the moment; clarity on this would do alot to mend the entire ecosystem.
2549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have u ever received BTC accidentally or randomly? on: July 03, 2016, 02:23:15 PM
Lol, this actually happens to people? I've gotten transactions that took do long to confirm that I forgot they were coming through, and was later pleasantly surprised. But as far as free, random money, not yet.
2550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best long term cold storage? on: July 03, 2016, 02:20:28 PM
Paper wallets for the win. Although the concept, not an actual wallet printed on paper. I'd use those plastic bracelet charms with the letters on them, and make two bracelets; one for the pub and priv keys. The bracelets won't degrade, and if anyone finds it, they will dismiss it as something unimportant/inexpensive.
2551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what will happen if miners stop mining bitcoin? on: July 03, 2016, 02:16:08 PM
When the miners stop mining, transactions stop confirming, and blocks stop being solved. So in a nutshell, everything grinds to an immediate halt Wink
2552  Other / Archival / Re: Where you get Bitcoin ? on: July 02, 2016, 09:02:27 PM
I purchase it, with my wages. And the Sig campaign, it's kinda like beer money.

Bitcoin is grand.
2553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BreakOut Coin on: July 02, 2016, 08:57:46 PM
So like, what is the process when you guys sit down to name these things? Dartboard? Trending Twitter hashes? LSD and a dictionary? I never get the method behind the madness when it comes to these coin names.
2554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BreakOut Coin on: July 02, 2016, 08:52:19 PM
This is the most oddly formal thread I have read in a while. The language seems a bit constructed, as does the dialogue. I could be off my mark however. BRK holders might just be that classy Smiley

But seriously, what is a break out coin? I missed this one apparently.

Ah, linkage below. Let me get a tea and read this  Grin

Edit: Perusing the above link, i see now that this will most likely end badly. Id be wary of this asset personally, but no one ever listens to me.
2555  Economy / Securities / Re: 10% monthly oportunity on: July 02, 2016, 08:22:03 PM
I can make 10% monthly with your bitcoins.
Just give me an access to your LiberOptions.com account and specify what amount you allow me to start with.
I'm just a trader, and want to leverage profits
Please contact me in private.

You have a pair of nuts on ya my boy, this was bold and daring. And succinct. None of that back story bullshit, show him the money  Grin

I can make 10% monthly with your bitcoins.

He's not even lying. He probably will make 10% profits (for him) after you give him access to your account. Hell, I guess it's 100 percent profit for him since it's your money. Tell him how much he can have.

I'm just a trader, and want to leverage profits

Remember, he's just a trader, who wants to leverage profits.

How could this not turn out good?
2556  Economy / Securities / Re: Total Return Fund - 1° Step: suggestion before start on: July 02, 2016, 08:12:04 PM
A serious question: I notice you provide a partial guarantee against loss, which is stand up, ESP if enforceable through escrow, but that leads to my question: why not invest the two bitcoin you have, and assume only your risk? If you are using the fund to extend your position, why tie up your own funds in escrow instead of applying them to the market for additional profit? So, that leads to, what is the management fee on your asset? As I assume you are not taking on counterparty risk for free.
2557  Other / Archival / Re: Looking for investor [Long Term] on: July 02, 2016, 08:04:36 PM
Hello friends,
I am looking for an investor to start a project.

...

I will not share the concept with anyone publicly, I think everybody can understand "why?".
Just for an idea, the project is something like "multi feature service" and it is related to bitcoin.

...

I have made a rough estimate about how much it will require for the project (development + working capital).
Which is around $8,000-$10,000 roughly for the awesome project I have in my mind. Just lets assume that $10,000.

I cannot give a exact time frame about how long I will take to return the principal amount.
Because it depends on many factors. It may take me around 6-18 months.

So you want 10k for an unspecified amount of time, for an undefined project that will "serve the world"?

Not enough details to arouse curiosity.Good luck with this.

I think you would be better off approaching a bank for a traditional loan, since you want fiat, and a single large investor.
2558  Economy / Securities / Re: [Havelock] RentalStarter - A Midwest Real Estate Investment Company on: July 02, 2016, 07:58:31 PM
I'm not invested in this, quit Havelock a while back, but you may want to look at issuing counterparty assets. Lot cheaper, stuck to a block chain, and you may be able to skirt the "not a security" thing as a token sale.
2559  Economy / Securities / Re: Is there any active stock market? on: July 02, 2016, 07:51:30 PM
I trade stocks for a living using proceeds I gained by selling bitcoins. The problem I see here is a lot of clueless fools with a few bitcoins that expect to make 50%+ in a month, when in reality is that no legit passive investment will pay that kind of return consistently.

If you trade stocks today and you really know what you are doing, have a good strategy, excellent risk management and at least $100K in capital to work with, you can earn 20-30% per YEAR with stocks. You can earn more with derivatives, but the risk factor is magnified.

Anything offering more than 2:1 leverage is more likely to wipe you out than it is to make you rich. All those forex companies are basically casinos - and casinos don't succeed when their customers win consistently.

You understand Smiley reward and risk are always proportionate; guys jumped on all these ICO trains chasing big gains, not thinking about the abyssal risk they were taking on with these unproven and untrusted brands and technologies.

I thought the crypto stock scene died around the time of bitfunder. People are still risking running these assets? I thought the SEC said it was going to start looking into these.
2560  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin can not replace fiat on: July 02, 2016, 07:45:27 PM
1st  - Goverment won't ever give you power of money creation this is one of most powerfull force in economy universe.
You can drop nations, devaulate your curency to improve export, you can print and pay debt like USA have with QE1 QE2 QE3.
Now in EU ECB buys det of eu big compianies... Do you really think that they will that powet to BTC?
Answer is NEVER. Goverments LOVE power and control.

Thank you, +1.

Bitcoin is still only cool because, ultimately it will be converted back to fiat for most goods and services, which is taxable. Wait until vendors/manufacturers start accepting bitcoin not pegged to a currency, the permissive attitude the govs have had towards btc will start to degrade.
