2541  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which crypto sportbooks are VPN friendly on: July 22, 2022, 03:24:40 AM
I reckon it might be safer for everyone not to use a VPN despite if the sportsbook declares that it is VPN friendly. Unless SammyGambler's accusation on Sandbox casino is not true, he has said that Sandbox did not honor his withdrawal because he was using the same IP address as others who might have been multiaccounting in the site. This is after he has explained that he used a VPN.

Also, for high limit gamblers, would you use a VPN and risk the funds to be frozed by the site?

OR he might join Vitalik and his new shitcoin after Ethereum completes the move to POS.

I am quite certain that you are joking, however, this might be closer to being real than being your joke. There was an article before that mentioned Elon Musk's legal advisor being one of the advisors of the new Dogecoin Foundation. It also mentioned Vitalik as also an advisor. I speculate that they might be in discussion with each other about developments in the cryptospace.

2543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: According to Sam Bankman-Fried, some Bitcoin exchanges are insolvent on: July 22, 2022, 01:49:52 AM
News update.

Who is insolvent? Why is Sam Bankman-Fried asking for more funding? Is his exchange also insolvent? I am becoming very skeptical about the safety on trading in FTX. However, this fundraising might also be used by Sam to buy equity into other cryptocompanies that have problems in their cashflow.

The skeptical me is thinking FTX is also insolvent but the optimistic me speculates that Sam is taking leveraged bets on the cryptospace because the worst of this bear market is finished.

Bankman-Fried's Crypto Exchange FTX Is In Talks to Raise Funds After Buying Spree

Crypto exchange FTX, co-founded by billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried, is in talks to raise fresh funding after carrying out a shopping spree during the recent digital-assets market rout.

FTX and its American entity FTX US are both fundraising, according to people familiar with the matter who aren’t authorized to discuss ongoing discussions. FTX is targeting a round at essentially the same valuation as its January fundraising, the people said. In January, FTX announced it raised $400 million at $32 billion valuation, while FTX US raised a separate $400 million at an $8 billion valuation.

A spokesperson for FTX declined to comment when asked about the talks.

2544  Economy / Speculation / On not very shocking news, Tesla dumps majority of bitcoin on: July 21, 2022, 07:15:04 AM
This is what I have speculated and argued. Companies holding a speculative asset in their balance sheet will be forced to sell if the asset is not bringing profit for their monthly income statement. I reckon if bitcoin continues to dump, I speculate that Michael Saylor will be forced to deleverage. Let us wish this will not become true.

Tesla (TSLA) reported its Q2 earnings after the closing bell on Tuesday, meeting analysts’ estimates, following a prolonged COVID-induced shutdown at its Shanghai production facility.

The company also says it sold 75% of its Bitcoin, turning it into fiat currency, adding $936 million in cash to its balance sheet. The quarter, however, ended Tesla's streak of reporting record revenue.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34272709/san-francisco-49ers-give-jimmy-garoppolo-agents-permission-seek-trade-sources-say

And there it is Jimmy is on the block, San Fran fully going with trey Lance this year.  Trying to think best landing spots for Jimmy.  Honestly the Seahawks could use Jimmy for a year and what better way to stick it to your rival than to go to Seattle.  Problem is I don't think San Fran will sign off on that.  What teams ya'll think would be Jimmy's best landing spot?

What is the team that traded for massage Watson? The Cleveland Browns? According to the last article I read, he might not be allowed to play while the lawsuit is taking place. All of those girls were also very terrorized by the bbc hehehehe. If this is a problem for the Browns, might it be good for the team to offer Jimmy G the opportunity to play 1 year?
2546  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Hasim Rahman Jr / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug on: July 21, 2022, 06:13:32 AM
This appears to be another payperview joke from the promoters to scam fans. Something similar to a pump and dump ICO to steal your money hehehe. Also, why will Jake Paul not challenge James Morrison, the fighter who knocked out Hasim Rahman?
It's Kenzie Morrison, not James Morrison.

If Jake Paul will fight against him, then we will expect another KO from Kenzie Morrison lol since Jake Paul isn't a good boxer. I believe he will keep winning when he fight against a weak boxer or unknown boxer, then if he challenge a champion or strong boxer, he might be fine if he lose since he will already made a good sum of money.

In this fight I will bet on Paul since I know Rahman Jr. only foughts against loser.

It is not Kenzie. His real name is James McKenzie Morrison. I read boxers' information in Boxingrec.

https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/699496

James is also the son of a former boxer, Tommy Morrison who died of AIDS. Tommy Morrison was also a former WBO champion. Also, agreed. In due course the fans will be bored of Jake Paul and he will be pressured to challenge a real boxer. I predict he will lose 1 fight before his 15th fight.
2547  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-20] Novogratz says ‘worst is over’ and that Bitcoin will surge on: July 21, 2022, 05:31:42 AM
I used to think that this man really meant what he said, but then it turned out that he was ready to sell his soul to the devil for profit. An intelligent person can never think that a project like Luna could succeed, even though he is just one of the millions of naive people who obviously still believe in fairy tales, but the ones that are expensive.

Throwing numbers like this without any concrete explanations really puts him in the same category as John McAfee who did the same things, albeit on a much larger scale.

Heheheehe I agree that the person who has said it is a joker, however, is the worst really over or is he someone similar to our favorite 2018 friend Tom Lee? I want to be optimistic but what is the argument for bitcoin now? It is a weak hedge for inflation, it cannot be a reserve currency and will the fees sustain the network forever? I am afraid this reality is slowly being understood, but also being silent about it.

2549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 20, 2022, 05:57:01 AM

That is why I dont like Paddy, but always excites to see his fights. Probably to have a confirmation for myself, if he is a real fighter-champion, or an accident guest in UFC.

I mean look at him. Guy is 27, eating junk food all the time, probably spending lots of time playing video games or goofing around. I dont understand why he likes to transform himself into a fat pig and them loose wait for fights. With body like he has, I bet he did not train, but prepares only 1-3 months before the fight. If he needs several months to prepare for a fight in a top fighting league, then he has a very talented guy but wasting his time. Or he has not faced a real fighter in UFC yet. I just cant stand the situation when others follow discipline and trains all the time, but Paddy trains his stomach in McDonalds and competes among best.

He also likes chocolates heheheehhee.

He has not yet faced a real fighter in the UFC, I reckon. However, his first fight can be considered a good challenge for him, but Luigi Vendramini does not have a high rank. Uncle Dana will only give him punchbags until Dana will not have a choice anymore and let hand sanitizer boy fight him for a main event hehehe.
2550  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: July 20, 2022, 04:55:37 AM
@PrimeNumber7. How much coins in Ethereum and Bitcoin is Celsius holding in their wallets? If the whole cryptospace pumps with both of those coins going 3x from where they presently are, I reckon Celsius might have enough to pay back their depositors and have some extra profit in dollars hehehehehe.
2551  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-16]U.S. Treasury invites public to provide input on President Biden's.. on: July 20, 2022, 03:31:04 AM
That's what I often say here. What's the use of a decentralized currency in a centralized environment?

It's rather ironic to preach about Bitcoin but to want regulations at all costs. Laws that go against the ideology of Bitcoin and the system we seek to develop.
When I speak of a centralized environment, it is not only about the use of CEXs and the like. It is primarily about the states, central banks, and other institutions that dictate monetary policy and how we should behave.
Bitcoin is a stateless currency and state-less means stateless.

I scratch my head when I read users here saying "yes bitcoin is good, bitcoin is freedom" and in other discussions saying "yes, regulations are good" I wonder if people really understand the challenges behind... They can argue that it helps the massive adoption of Bitcoin but it is totally wrong. Anyway, Bitcoin doesn't need this, just look at the evolution that has been done since the beginning, when the laws didn't exist at all. You can't expect Bitcoin to be massively adopted in a few years. Especially for a stateless currency. Then, we can look at the Euro, and how many years did it take between discussions, studies, implementation, adaptation, conversion, and everything else. 20 years.

The economic system that we criticize so much, we reproduce the same with the cryptos.

What's the use of a decentralized currency in a centralized environment? I know the answer. Let's face the reality, it's all about speculation.
This is the main reason why people are interested in cryptos (including most of the people on Bitcointalk). If there was no money to be made, they wouldn't even look any further...

Adoption has to come from people who need it for real use, not for speculation. Citizens of countries in development, war, serious economic crisis,..., weigh more on the scale than people who come only to speculate

I have respect for much of the people in bitcointalk, however, for those who are saying we need decentralization while also saying that regulation and compliance are good for bitcoin's ecosystem, the skeptical me is thinking that they only want their coins to pump. They only speculate on the potential that regulation might help on adoption. This is arguable considering bitcoin's low chance to scale as a medium of exchange and bitcoin's monetary policy.
2552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 19, 2022, 03:19:53 AM
Shame about the shoulder popping out, put a big dampener on a otherwise decent card. I know it didn't knock your socks off, but it was a decent night of fights. I predicted horribly. Most of my picks basically lost. My bet definitely did lose, and I don't think I got one method of victory correct. I was disappointed to see Jack Shore lose his zero the most.

Anyway, onto the next event. I probably won't be able to watch this one, as I'm away for the weekend. So, probably won't be betting on it. I only bet on things I can watch, as that's the fun part. I'll save my cash for the start of the Premier League, and the event after the next.

I will say, for the Curtis vs Tom fight, I'd like to see Tom win it, but Curtis has hands, and very decent wrestling. So, it could be a good night.

I am in agreement with everyone who is choosing Curtis Razor Blaydes to win this. However, the fight is in London hehehe. It might be the British mafia scaring another opponent of Tom Aspinall. Did everyone witness how Alexander Volkov lose easily? It is very much not like him to lose like that hehehehe. If Blaydes loses very easily, remember the British mafia.

It also appears that uncle Dana has chosen another victim for Paddy the baddy. I predict it will be another knockout victory for him.

2553  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-14] JPMorgan Says Bitcoin Cost of Production May Be Down to $13,000 on: July 19, 2022, 02:45:10 AM
@SFR10. I reckon much of the people get this wrong about bitcoin's pricing. They assume that because the cost of mining a bitcoin is the backing for the price of bitcoin on the market. This is incorrect. The price is dictated by how much demand and leverage is in the market. It is not dictated by how much electricity is used to mine a bitcoin. This is something similar to a stock that has been pumping but the company has a negative book value.
2554  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-16]U.S. Treasury invites public to provide input on President Biden's.. on: July 19, 2022, 01:58:47 AM
@LeGaulois. Agreed. This is very head shaking if there are bitcoiners who would welcome regulation on bitcoin. If they want regulation, what would be the use of decentralization? What would be the use of wasting all the electricity to mine those bitcoins if bitcoiners accept and comply with the government's authority to allow or ban bitcoin?
2555  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: July 19, 2022, 12:43:07 AM
@ChiBitCTy. I cannot find the video anymore, however, I had the impression that the handicapper who said it was very serious. He mentioned it was because the odds on Zach Wilson was 150 and it would be 3.00 by the middle of this season. He also mentioned that it was because the Jets have good additions for their offensive line to support their quarterback. I have not looked at the Jets' trades to confirm if this is true but it appears those rumors of Zach sleeping with his mother's friend is true hehehehhe.
2556  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet | Bitcoin Casino & Sportsbook | The No.1 Bitcoin Gambling Site on: July 18, 2022, 06:11:26 AM
@JollyGood. It might be more complicated than the argument that the government of Italy is being a draconian state, I reckon. They might also be doing this for purposes of taxation which is the revenue source of the government. If international online casinos want to operate in Italy, they need to comply with Italian laws and pay proper taxes. Another purpose for this might be to help avoid their jurisdiction from being a place for money laundering.
2557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUD Has Finally Taken Its Toll on Me on: July 18, 2022, 05:52:20 AM
@Crypto Bull. The reason for us to need decentralization is to make it very difficult for the government to enforce their laws and impose their command and control on the whole population. Similar to your concern, as bitcoin mining becomes more centralized, this makes it easier for the government to enforce the ban on proof of work mining. I am afraid that this might also open an argument for cryptocoins to hardfork to proof of stake which has never been done before.
2558  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: July 18, 2022, 03:24:48 AM
It appears that for investors who are using an investment strategy to buy the dip, it is presently becoming a very good time to buy slowly without the fear of missing out hehehe. According to this article, bitcoin is under the longest period for extreme fear. The next millionaires of the cryptospace are buying while there is blood on the streets.

Bitcoin is now in its longest-ever 'extreme fear' period

This has now been quantified by the Crypto Fear & Greed Index, a tool that takes multiple sources into account to create an overall score of how the markets are feeling.

As of July 15, Fear & Greed has spent 70 days in its lowest bracket — "extreme fear" — marking of a new bearish record.

2559  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-06-03] New York just passed a bill cracking down on bitcoin mining on: July 18, 2022, 02:27:07 AM
And due to the heat in Texas miners in are shutting down:
https://www.theblockcrypto.com/post/151084/bitcoin-miners-in-texas-have-been-powering-down-amid-heatwave-and-record-electricity-demand

So just because you can move then and in general get cheap power / rent / whatever it does not mean it's good for your business.

Sorry but that's just the way it is. Shutting down now due to heat. Shut down earlier in the year due to winter storms:
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/03/winter-storm-descends-on-texas-bitcoin-miners-shut-off-to-protect-ercot.html

So this is also part of the issue. Your staff still gets paid even if the mine is off, your rent still has to get paid, your insurance still has to get paid and so on.

How much are fixed costs costing them during this downtime.
Green / not green / cheap power / whatever does not help you if you can't run the miners.

-Dave

This is only part of the challenges of doing business in Texas. I am quite certain there are factories and manufacturers that are also affected by the higher electricity costs. I reckon depending on their 12 month projection, they can get a loan from a bank to support their cashflow until conditions for mining become more optimistic again. However, the problem might be many banks might not want to take the risk of giving a loan to a company that mines a volatile speculative asset.
2560  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-07-14] Nic Carter vs. The Bitcoin Maximalists on: July 17, 2022, 02:46:52 AM
It also appears the bitcoin maximalists are pushing away some of the smart people and support those people who are willing to continue the circle jerk. We should be more careful because this might be the community's own undoing.

If someone turns against the very essence of what Bitcoin stands for, then it is only logical that the community will turn against him in one way or another. I don't think that we lose that way, but on the contrary that we defend those positions that come from everything that Satoshi left us.

Did our community lose important people in the form of all those who were pro-Bitcoin and then a few years ago decided to try to destroy it by creating their own version of Bitcoin? Roger Ver, Faketoshi (CW), Jihan Wu, and many others who once meant something are now despised by the community, as well as some new traitors like Mr. Mars, who also did us great harm with his childish moves. We do not push anyone away from us, but we cannot be irresponsible and pretend that some people should have the status of gods and that they can do whatever they want.

What occured is an overreaction by some cultish maximalists within the bitcoin community which might clearly be very head shaking also for you. Nic Carter's venture fund invested in a seed round of a company who will develop a cryptocoin wallet. However, this wallet to be created is going to be a multicoin wallet. This has made some people in the bitcoin community see him as someone who has commited heresy hehehehehe.
