Well this is not reassuring at all. All 5 of mine make a ticking noise. And it sounds kind of similar, but hard to tell. I've inspected all of them and found nothing odd. Nothing visually wrong, no odors or anything. I am going to keep an eye on them, but even the ones that were assembled by Avalon with PSUs do it so I'm still thinking it's normal.
What mhz you running at for the ones with Avalon provided with PSUs?

Everyone seems to be forgetting that they host the equipment for no extra costs. This saves a lot of $$$ on HVAC, power costs, and time spent. HVAC/power costs would cost a small fortune for a farm in the range of 5-10Th (especially if these are built on Avalon's power hungry chip design.)
Is 8% APY really that bad? I think it's quite nice considering they do all the work for you.

i think its a bit too hard to spell and hardly related to the miner itself, just dont like the "mination" part. ^^
Maybe Cointa-Miner or something?
I kind of agree with Foofighter, but honestly if you're selling a good product at an affordable price, you could call it "dog shit" and I'd still order lots of them.

I've been running my 4 module version Avalons at 350mhz using the stock PSU. Is this bad?
I have had 7 Avalons at 350mhz running on the stock PSU for about a week. I did have to replace one PSU, but otherwise they seem to be running fine.
In my previous experience when a PSU goes bad, the whole machine just shuts off, after replacing the power supply everything is good to go and no extra harm was done.
Am I taking a large gamble of the PSUs failing and potentially harming the equipment?
I read in the Batch 3 thread that a four module Avalon @ 350mhz runs at 930 Watts at the wall. I think the Avalons only ship with 850w PSUs. So obviously what I'm doing is probably risky, I'm just wondering how risky??

Yes, I am planning on leaving this open until I feel like I've reached my hosting capacity (about 5000 watts of miners- possibly more if I can figure out a better HVAC solution.)
I am not worried about equipment arriving at different times, in fact I am expecting it to. Dividends will be payed out on hardware that has been received, regardless if all hardware has arrived or only one machine.

+1 awesome update
Glad I bought some chips from here, I'll likely get the boards made in the same place for the sake of convenience. Thanks!

Units all arrived. Busy in setting up. Air conditioner got some problem , I am handling it. part of the machines are running, For the hosted machines, please track this address 1CZg4CTgLBk3LhrfthChZ4sh7NZwv6EX5P for the mined coins. What A/C are you using? I had some problems with the A/C I'm using to cool 7 Avalons, maybe I can help you out. If you are using a similar A/C, it may be the same problem. I am using an industrial portable A/C, specifically a MovinCool Office Pro 36.

UPDATE:
The first hardware orders have been placed. Congratulations, you are all owners of the following:
1 October Bitfury - 400 Gh - Tx ID: 04d50ed32542ac1d0b1da6a731618384d6944de5ceac7c417bed8af24a2ee863 1 KNC Jupiter - 400 Gh - Tx ID: 2ae86031f3ea87dd0fc037292084852743dcc1b55a66ca471fd79368d8741834 2 VMC Fast-Hash-Ones - 512 Gh - Tx ID: 9cb0540b9a8cd5eca613898ff6266c7fe048ea209602959756a472f30540ddf5
1312 Gh ordered so far!
We have about $6,586.51 in our group account (61.630353 BTC) towards the next purchase of a second Bitfury Obtober 400 Gh
I am watching the Xcrowd, Cointerra, and HashFast situations closely and considering ordering hardware from them as well, please give me your opinions. My opinion is something along the lines of:
1. Xcrowd's pay on delivery seem like a nice deal.. would be be hard to get scammed. 2. Cointerra put together an impressive team and I am most exited about their announcement. I live not too far from them, so that could come in handy for numerous reasons. 3. HashFast seems like another serious ASIC startup out of the tech heavy area of San Jose, Ca. - They have not released much information as of yet, but I am anxiously awaiting more news.

Wow Hendo, great website! Good luck with it!
I was thinking of making something similar, based off my favorite daily deal website whiskeymilitia.com which sells things for extreme sports/snowboarding/winter/camping/etc.
I always thought Bitcoin/crypto coins needed a website like that, I am glad to see it exists!
Cheers,
Ch

Hi Canary, Just wanted to say thanks for doing this for us. I will patiently wait for my name to be called. I understand everyone can't be first. Thanks again, Ch

Perhaps like Avalon (who promised 80 Gh, but delivered 100+ Gh), Bitfury will come through in an unexpected way. Certainly their specs as ordered are conservative, no? Even though it's true that if these are a month+ late, they might not reach ROI. These calculations can only be made with the promised specs and perhaps what we actually receive will achieve a better ROI than most people think. Ordering any vaporware (or even from reputable companies) is a gamble. With the ASIC situation the way it is, you either have to gamble or get out of the game. There is no waiting and playing safe to "see who is legit". By the time you know, the possible profit will have been mined by the early adopters of the equipment that took the gamble. We've all seen what happens when ASIC manufacturers are proven legit.. they raise their prices (Avalon Batch 3 and BFL's new pricing). My two Satoshis.

CH, Are there any plans to re-invest profits to purchase new hardware once the purchased hardware is hashing?
Not at this time. Like our last group buy, I imagine it would be hard to get everyone to agree on a reinvestment plan. I myself would love to come up with some type of reinvestment plan for the group. I usually have no available BTC, because its all wrapped up in investments. I prefer it this way and I would like to keep it that way. This ensures I can't spend it on stupid things like gambling, and my involvement with BTC stays purely a long term investment as I originally intended it to be. If we can agree on a reinvestment plan that is approved by a majority vote of share holders, I would be willing to implement it. Worst case scenario, the people whom would like to reinvest can start a new group buy like I have done here.

"pay on delivery"
I like that, I may be a customer!
I am patiently awaiting information on your product line!

I hope most of you are serious about being done with preorders. There will be more of these leftover for me. Muhahaha Cointerra sounds like a very experienced team, I want to give them my money to make this happen!

Thanks guys.
I will update the list of investors and put in our first orders tonight for a KNC Jupiter and Bitfury 400 Gh!
Next funds received will go towards a VMC Fast-Hash-One. I also hope Cointerra releases product information and prices soon, I would like to add them to the list of hardware investments.. they seem like a very experienced team.
