2581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: August 03, 2012, 03:42:28 PM
Threads like this are one of the reasons so many regular people turned away from Bitcoin. No single person has done more damage to Bitcoin than that fucktard Atlas.

O RLY?

Where the empirical evidence, yo?

God, I was gonna link to his post history as a joke, but so many accounts where would I start.
2582  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CampBX is a scam? on: August 03, 2012, 02:55:26 PM
That doesn't make it a scam...
2583  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Forums on: August 03, 2012, 02:47:34 PM
Only other popular one I know of is this one. https://bitcoin.org.uk/forums/

Also the bitcoin reddit, but that's mostly the same stuff posted here.
2584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: predictions for next hack on: August 03, 2012, 01:27:51 PM
Pirate and BS&T.

I think we'd have to lock the forum down if that actually happened...
2585  Other / Off-topic / Re: Private war between Rarity, augustocroppo and mlawrence on: August 03, 2012, 01:19:15 PM
Reading all these shiny fairy tales from ZT's paid crooks makes me sick.

Forum operators knowingly accepted potentially stolen funds from a potential scammer.
If evidence is established, that's called money laundering where I live. (So much about "leaving the forum liable".)

mlawrence did absolutely nothing questionable here.

The actions of the moderators (showing ads from potential scammers, defending potential scammers, hiding relevant information, obstructing community action) speak for themselves.

That's a lot of potentials and ifs for a guy you are so adamant is guilty.
2586  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did I lost bitcoins? on: August 03, 2012, 09:11:54 AM
Don't be creepy, that's not Blazr. It's boxxy.
2587  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: August 02, 2012, 03:14:53 PM
Ok so Micon said that BTCS&T is in its final week or two. And looking at the prices of PPT bonds of GLBSE it's clear that a lot of people are withdrawing.

So if in two weeks Pirate hasn't default, is still operating or has returned all the coins, will you stop with this ponzi talk or what?

Uh, if he returns *all* the coins, it's not a Ponzi by definition, so yes.

I would cover 2-to-1 he runs within 8 weeks though. (More than Pirate rates!)

Yes, I should have said, if it continues operation, will this witch hunt stop?

Of course not, don't be silly.
2588  Other / Meta / Re: Cross-posting eqtiquette? on: August 02, 2012, 12:30:01 PM
In general, no. We have subforums to reduce the clutter, crossposting just makes it pointless.
2589  Other / Off-topic / Re: SomethingAwful loves Bitcoin on: August 01, 2012, 11:57:48 AM
That thread was created right around the time the rally from $5 started. They must've bought in  Wink.
2590  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let the roasting begin! on: August 01, 2012, 05:49:18 AM

Got back from Iowa earlier, and stopped in off-topic first. Something caught my eye, and went into another Google Fu mode. Then came here and noticed there's seven pages following my last post, whereupon I had to go make a fresh pot of coffee. I stopped to reply to this one, and still 6+ pages out. I will add what may be needed once I finish reading. I may even post prior and it may come up as back-to-back posts. If so, please forgive me.

~Bruno~

It's posts like these that I personally don't like. It adds nothing but noise and is annoying to see them over and over.
2591  Other / Off-topic / Re: Zhou Tong advertising on BitcoinTalk. on: August 01, 2012, 01:29:48 AM
@OP: Until Zhou is proven guilty of something, I don't know why you would have a problem with him advertising on the forums. Do you have a problem with Pirate advertising on the forums?

Has he even been charged with something yet?

Anyway from good judgment, in comparison how quickly the scammer label is applied to persons he should get one. You can argue that the label is commonly used prematurely and that in this case special care is needed but the latter is not the case.

Again, it's hypocrisy.

Scammer tag is usually quickly applied because there is clear evidence that the party is guilty. Not very clear here, too many conflicting facts and too much speculation.
2592  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: July 31, 2012, 12:25:15 PM
Ok interested in a 51% attack on LTC people are talking about... can anyone expand or link me to a useful topic explaining what this is and why I should be aware of such threats.

Many thanks

This thread would be a good start.

2593  Other / Meta / Re: Automatically save outgoing PM's in outbox on: July 30, 2012, 01:22:44 PM
I forget checking the "Save a copy in my outbox" option a lot when sending PMs, but I want to save all outgoing PMs to keep track of a lot of things. Is there a way to keep it enabled by default? If not, could this please be implemented? Thank you very much in advance Smiley

It's in your profile settings. Under personal message options.
2594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: July 30, 2012, 12:16:52 PM
Except now I have to make empty messages of content to get those 5 posts created so i can really post where i want hah...

yeah...

The restrictions are in place partly because of spammers, if you spam to get your post count up...it probably won't end well.
2595  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PORN WITH BITCOINS OR FREE PORN WHAT THE BEST ? on: July 30, 2012, 12:14:32 PM
Why would you pay for porn? It isn't gonna be better just cause you paid for it. It might seem like it since you will try to convince yourself it is, but it isn't. If you're gonna pay for it just go down the corner and pay a couple girls to diddle each other.
2596  Other / Meta / Re: A mod here believes I should be scammer tagged and keeps stalking/harassing me on: July 30, 2012, 12:00:57 PM
(Currently I see the same thing happening with the Bitcoinica scam - given the evidence I cannot understand why these guys (esp. Zhoutong) are not scammer tagged (instead theymos chose to accept 80 BTC from Zhoutong to advertise his next "project"  Roll Eyes - filling all available ad slots of the forum. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=94475.20))

Ever hear of reasonable doubt? Innocent until proven guilty? There is no solid proof it was him, and marking him as a scammer if he's innocent would open up the forum to serious legal problems (and rightly so).
2597  Other / Meta / Re: Linking to silkroad is a serious offense against forum rules? on: July 30, 2012, 11:58:13 AM
You can talk about it, just don't link there.
Can I link to the Wikipedia page about it?

No rule against that as far as I know, but I wouldn't, since the wiki links can be changed by pretty much anybody.
2598  Other / Meta / Re: Linking to silkroad is a serious offense against forum rules? on: July 30, 2012, 06:08:49 AM
You can talk about it, just don't link there.
2599  Other / Meta / Re: Damn it Theymos! You cleaning house moved all posts off the page! on: July 29, 2012, 11:15:37 PM
Unintentional humor is always the best.

I don't see a reason for the 'moved' threads.

The URL for the thread doesn't change, so if someone enters the URL for a thread after it is moved, it still goes to the right thread, just in the different section.  There is no categories or anything in the URL path.

At the very least it helps to show people where such threads should be posted.
2600  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos on the ball today. on: July 29, 2012, 10:14:06 PM
Nice, trading discussion can actually be about trading discussion again.

Maybe scam accusations should be named something differently. If I had a dispute with someone that I wanted resolved, I wouldn't want to post in a forum called Scam Accusation when I'm not necessarily calling them a scammer.
