2581  Economy / Services / Re: Wallet recovery service on: July 12, 2019, 01:42:15 PM
Surely by that logic though, you should be going round and PMing every single user to beware of every single scam ever, because you don't know whats going on behind closed doors.

The fact that you are upset based on a warning is somewhat sketchy.

There are so many scams going on. And a lot of the scammer try to hide their true intentions until they find a suitable victim.

I don't see a problem with warning other people..

May i ask why you decided to use an alt account instead of your main one?
2582  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk - About Privacy on: July 12, 2019, 01:32:22 PM
Are there any addons that could prevent this retention of data?

No.

Any data you transmit to the bitcointalk.org server, can be stored.
There is no browser plugin which allows you to circumvent that.

Your only way would be to not send anything to the server.. so basically.. not using this forum.

Browser plugins only enhance the user experience on the client-side. They can't affect software on a 3rd party server (i mean.. they theoretically can by sending wrong headers etc.., but that won't help you in this case).

2583  Economy / Services / Re: Searching a Giftcard Cracker on: July 12, 2019, 01:13:17 PM
I Used 5+Crack Tool Already And Sometimes it Worked Great

Congratulations.

The probability of your computer being infected with 3+ different types of malware is at roughly 60%+ now.
The probability of at least one infection is at 98%+.

If you care about your data, make a backup, format your drive, reinstall your OS and never download such scams again.
What do you think their business model is? Just giving it out for free because of good will ? Sorry to disappoint you.. but that's not the case.

And i wondered why so much people lose their coins because their computer got infected  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
2584  Economy / Reputation / Re: Game-protect flag on: July 12, 2019, 01:05:09 PM
LOL, internet tough guy. You're building a good flag support thread for marlboroza.

Creating a proper and well documented flag support thread against a stupid scammer is a waste of time.

Why research and document everything if you can have the 20 IQ scammer come here and provide proofs himself  Cheesy
Saves a lot of time and the low iq guy is digging his own grave  Roll Eyes

No proof available that I scammed someone is the proof! Roll Eyes

You might be too drunk to read.. look again:

Get 5 BTC for proof who Game Protect scammed and for how much?

Since 3,5 years active and no scam so far. Wink
You might be too brain dead to read.. look again:

Get 5 BTC for proof WHO Game Protect scammed and FOR HOW MUCH?

In the thread you linked I am neither able to see WHO I scammed nore FOR HOW MUCH!

You scammed all people visiting your site by lying and displaying wrong information in order to make money through affiliate links.
You did not steal from them directly. Nonetheless this is a scam.

Since both questions have been answered, when can we expect you to pay the creator of this topic ?
2586  Economy / Services / Re: Wallet recovery service on: July 12, 2019, 08:13:26 AM
General warning:

Don't trust newbies with your wallet files or any other sensitive information.
Either use it without giving out any sensitive information, or don't use it at all.

Use a reputable recovery service (e.g. daves recovery service) if you don't want to risk being scammed.

Newbies offering a recovery service are mostly just scam!
2587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trump is tweeting about Bitcoin O.O thoughts? on: July 12, 2019, 08:08:55 AM
But the good thing is, after that tweet, the price remains above $11,000, signalling that not even the President of the United States can sway the price negatively.

'not even' ?  Tongue

I don't think a lot of educated people from the USA do truly believe anything he is saying / talking about. Not to mention all the people from outside of the USA..
If educated people support him, it is because of their own interests. Not because they truly believe he is competent.

Anyone whose money is at risk (i.e. FIAT-rich people), need to do anything they can to preserve the value of their money. And this includes keeping anything which does interfere with their plan low.
You will never hear anyone of them saying that BTC is the new currency / highlighting any positive sides of BTC.

I honestly couldn't care less what people - who need to preserve the value of FIAT - say about BTC.
In the long run, BTC will go up and USD (or any other FIAT) will go down. I don't care about spikes created by FUD and 'fake news'.
2588  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: seed - lightning on: July 12, 2019, 07:48:39 AM
It is not better to export the private keys. Doing so may lead to funds losses.

To clear any doubts of new people which may occur after reading this statement:

Exporting the private keys itself does not lead to any loss.
The fact, that you only backed up a specific 'set of addresses' can lead to a loss if you receive funds to a newly generated address in the future (which you don't have a backup of yet).

So, as a backup.. use the seed / mnemonic code. Exporting private keys itself (for whatever reason) is not an issue.
2589  Economy / Services / Re: Do not miss the chance to get a reward for testing new mode of [banned mixer] on: July 12, 2019, 07:46:02 AM
Did everyone receive testing funds through a Private Message for the mixer?

I didn't receive anything yet.

Please read the OP:

How to get the reward?

- as soon as your review is submitted, please send to us a private message with the Letter of Guarantee you received from [banned mixer] and write your address to which we can send your reward – 0,0015 BTC.

No proof available that I scammed someone is the proof! Roll Eyes

You might be too drunk to read.. look again:

Yes, the offer to give 5 BTC for proof who I scammed and for how much is zero risk for me because I never scammed anyone! Cheesy

1) You scammed everyone who visited your site.
2) The amount is not relevant in this case.

So please pay out those 5 BTC to WinRateCasino. Or do you want another (type3) flag ?

In the real world you need my permission to publish it!

Maybe go scamming in the 'real world' then?
The consequences are more severe than just a flag on an account tho  Wink
2591  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Bitcoin Ledger and other hardware related questions. on: July 12, 2019, 07:28:29 AM
How much money and time would it take for someone to install keylogger/malware into something like a powerbank?  Whether its a powerbank for laptop or powerbank that is used for portable devices?  Woudl it be even worth the time and money though?  But if they knew the buyers had crypto on their computer for example, then wouldn't some scum do that?

Money? Probably just a few bucks
Time? Depends on the actual microcontroller you try to tamper with.
You can't generalize this by saying it takes X minutes/hours/days.

Some USB sticks, for example, can be tampered with within a few minutes (software side).
Others would require to replace the controller completely.

Each devices is different and it almost always is not a trivial task.

But the real micro controller tampering you are talking about, what devices would this include?  I assume

1. Modems
2. Routers
3. Printers
4. Powerbanks
5.  Mouse
6.  Keyboard

Anything which has a microcontroller which doesn't verify the firmware.
So, yes.. everything in your list. At least on a theoretical level.

Wouldn't mouse and keyboard be the easiest and least detectable thing because most ppl wouldnt even think about it?  Example imagine someone knows a certain someone has crypto in their computer and does not have nano ledger etc.  Someone could lend or give someone a mouse or keyboard...they connect to their computer, they are now screwed right?

Sure.

There also already have been many cases where keylogger have been hid in keyboards.
Not directly manipulating the microcontroller, but inserted a small chip which reads out the keyboard buffer each X milliseconds.

There are countless ways to gain access to sensitive information. Effectively you can not protect yourself against all of them. It is a probability game.
If you buy your hardware from a trusted seller and don't let some shady techy people (who want to harm you) access it, you are pretty much safe.

But where would you rank powerbanks?  What about powerbanks that only connect to the power outlet in your laptop?  I mean it does not connect to your laptop usb.

What if someone lends you say their asus or dell laptop charger?  Is it possible for them to lend or sell you an asus or dell laptop ac adapter charger where connecting it gives you malware/keylogger?  Of course it connects to the power plug in your laptop only... not the usb-c port in your laptop.

As others have mentioned, if there is no data connection, no data can be transmitted.
And therefore no malware can be transmitted / installed.

You keep playing the "what if?" game and never seem to want to make an actual decision. If you keep doing that, you'll eventually get to the level of: "Well, what if someone drops a dirty bomb on the bank where my cryptosteel is stored in a safety deposit?" Roll Eyes

Well.. what if this happens? Is it safe to spread my cryptosteel around 10 banks then? What if there are a lot of bombs being dropped ? Is it safe then ?  Tongue
2592  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TerraGreen Bounty KYC-Scam - changed rules of their bounty and refused payments on: July 12, 2019, 07:15:25 AM
I'll shoot the users from the German local board a PM again to check this and if all doubts are cleared I'll create a Newbie flag.

I also already considered creating a type1 flag, but we shouldn't do this.

Upon creating a type2 or #3 flag, the following has to be confirmed:
Quote
[...]  3) no existing flag covers this same incident; [...]

Creating a type1 flag now, would cover this incident.
And since a type2 / type3 flag is 'more severe' i would actually wait for someone to create such a flag, to support it.

Unfortunately they are afraid to create a scammer flag because they are feared to get disqualified...
One of them agreed to do it after the payouts (July 17).

Getting disqualified because of that would just be another red flag Cheesy and would IMO justify a second (type 1) flag.
Does everyone participating there want to send their ID and other personal documents to them ? Is there not a single one who doesn't want to sell his identity for a few bucks  Huh
2593  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: seed - lightning on: July 11, 2019, 02:01:23 PM
Your bitcoin will always 'stay valid' and you will always be able to access them using your seed (or mnemonic code).

The lightning network is just a 2nd layer. You don't HAVE to use it. Everything pre-lightning works as it did before.

Look at it as a plugin. You can use it, it gives advantages, but you don't have to.
You can use your browser without any plugins too. It is not like after a specific plugin is available to download your browser won't work anymore.
2594  Economy / Services / Re: Do not miss the chance to get a reward for testing new mode of [banned mixer] on: July 11, 2019, 12:56:27 PM
Wasn't i supposed to receive 2 transactions? I have entered the same address in both fields and received one transaction. If the concept is to receive 2 transactions, it should also happen if i provide the same address twice.
We checked the address you entered while mixing and there were two incoming transactions to this address: 0.0000928 BTC and 0,001 BTC

You are right, i somehow missed that.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

You should pay out those 5 BTC to WinRateCasino. He proofed it in this thread.

Note that he can create a flag against you, if you don't.
And further, this (promising to pay out 5 BTC after a proof, but not doing so) is another reason to give you some neg trust rating. Smiley
2596  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bip 39 seed only shows 1 adress on: July 11, 2019, 12:42:30 PM
Do all addresses containing a balance start with the same character (1.., 3.. or bc1..) ?

Do you have different 'accounts' in ledger live?

P.s. Since you have imported your seed into electrum, regard it as compromised.
You should reset your nano s and reinitialize it with a new seed, which you should NEVER enter anywhere except the nano s itself.

The nano s stores the seed securely and non-reachable. By importing it into a desktop wallet you are defeating the whole purpose of a hardware wallet.
2597  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Removing Electrum and Exodus Wallets on my Computer? on: July 11, 2019, 09:33:20 AM
Do you want to accomplish anything specific (e.g. remove all traces that the software ever was on your computer) ?
Because if the answer is no, it doesn't really matter. What is the concrete issue/question ?

But if the answer yes, then you either must :
1. Perform full-format on your storage drive & re-install your Windows OS
2. Use 3rd party uninstaller software (such as Revo Uninstaller), which could remove all leftover files & registry.

To fully remove all possible leftovers (and indicators that this software ever existed on this computer) more than just formatting is necessary.
You'd first need to delete any information regarding this particular piece of software (files, registry entries, system logs, ..) and then fill the part of the hard drive where this information was stored.

On a SSD, that's more than just a trivial task. Even on a HDD that's quite a lot of work.

And i honestly don't think OP has a reason for explicitly doing this. At least not if having BTC wallets installed isn't illegal in his country plus the government wants to seize his computer.  Grin

As far as i understand the OP, it is more a question whether to uninstall or to keep the software ?
2598  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal: My account "Corey031" got permanent ban. Please check. on: July 11, 2019, 09:14:06 AM
Can I ask if there is an user here who got their account back after plagiarizing. Thanks Smiley

Yes, bill gator was initially banned but later the ban was reverted and he received a 2 year signature ban.

But in contrast to the OP, he actually increased the quality of this forum.
2599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important terms that are frequently confused. on: July 11, 2019, 09:08:20 AM
  • Address: Bitcoins are sent to an address. An address is derived from its public key. It is not a public key or a wallet.

Bitcoins are not sent to an address.
Addresses do not exist on a technical level.

Bitcoins (or more precisely: UTXO's) are assigned to public keys.

  • Seed/Recovery Phrase: [...] A seed is also known as a recovery phrase because all of a wallet's private keys and associated addresses are derived from its seed.

A seed is not a recovery phrase.
Quite ironic that you confuse terms in a thread explaining frequently confused terms  Grin

A seed is a big random number.
A 'recovery phrase' is the seed encoded into something human-readable, for example into 12 or 24 words (-> mnemonic code) using BIP39 (or electrums encoding).

That's a confusion which happens quite often, and i think this should be outlined in the OP Smiley
2600  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Personal Server on Windows 7 on: July 11, 2019, 08:58:27 AM
"won't launch at all" is not much information at all. Could you be more precise? Error message, anything ?

However, is there a specific reason you want to stick to an outdated and unsecure OS instead of upgrading it to at least have a bit of security?
I, personally, don't see a single reason.
