261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and pollution on: January 13, 2018, 11:44:45 AM
Yes, BTC mining consumes a lot of energy and being that most countries participating in BTC depend largely on fossil fuel as energy source, it does create a negative climatic effect. However, I strongly think that BTC mining contribution levels are very minimal and our climate will still be less habitable if BTC miners completely use cleaner energy sources for mining operations.

Never looked at it that way. I'm not that familiar with mining and I never thought of it as detrimental to the environment. But if that's the case, then bitcoin mining is indirectly contributing to pollution.

Renewable energy has been a problem not only for mining, since a majority of the planet still rely on fossil fuels - which would ultimately deplete eventually. This problem should be addressed so as not to harm the environment even further. Mining is essential however taking care of the earth's environment is important as well.
262  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: The Pharmacist - Tahasang inatake ang mga pinoy on: January 11, 2018, 02:46:13 AM
263  Local / Pilipinas / Re: May legal implications bang dapat alalahanin pag nagcacashout galing sa bitcoin? on: January 07, 2018, 02:02:18 AM
Sa pagkakaalam ko, wala pang law specifically on bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. Wala rin namang tax na nakaimpose dapat on crypto or bitcoin.

265  Economy / Economics / Re: What will happen to the banks if people uses cryptocurrencies more than fiat? on: January 06, 2018, 04:25:09 AM
If that ends up happening, it won’t happen overnight, so they will make some changes to try to adapt to the new situation but whether they will succeed is another story. They are already implementing changes, with fewer branches, fewer employees and more features for clients to make their operations online.

I think in the future, bitcoin and some other cryptos will co-exist with fiat currencies, so banks will have a place but I think their importance will be reduced.

Banks should keep up if they don't want to be left out. I don't think the banks will cease to exist even with the mass use of cryptocurrencies if they choose to adopt. Otherwise, a different form of bank will be created to cater to the needs of cryptousers, and current banks will lose their business if fiat will go down the drain in the future.

Banks are still very important and relevant in our society today and even with the widespread use of cryptocurrencies, fiat won't be overthrown just yet. If banks can keep up with the pace, then they may survive in the years to come when cryptocurrencies will take over (if they will). Just now, banks are becoming more technologically advanced, so it's quite possible for them to co-exist with crypto.
266  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holding will be a risk or not?? on: January 06, 2018, 04:10:38 AM
As indicated by predictions bitcoin should have achieved 15k$ by end of 2017 and fall in first week of jan 2018

In any case, shockingly its effectively reached 17k$ in 2017.

Should I purchase or hold my btc?I don't plan to sell at any point in the near future.

If you understand the risks of holding and you know what you are doing then just do what you want. After all, I guess you will not made a plan like that if you don't do analyzation. No one knows what will happened in the future so try it and see for yourself.

It's risky but like I said if you really understand what you're doing then you can play the game. And honestly, putting money on bitcoin is a risky method that is worth to give a shot since we have lots of reasons to believe on that. Goal for long term. If you have guts to spend money at the current bitcoin price rate, then go.

Choosing to hold comes with understanding that there are risks in holding. There are risks because there's no guarantee for you to get your money back or to earn profits. Even with everyone saying that bitcoin will have high value in the future, there's no guarantee for that to happen. Believing in the predictions in itself is a risk because you can never tell whether it will really happen.

It's best to determine for yourself, and decide for yourself whether to continue to hold or sell.

268  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Will Bitcoin transations be taxed in all countries in the future? on: January 05, 2018, 11:18:18 AM
I agree with this, and this may actually be plausible. Perhaps the government should come up with an accrediting or licensing system for exchanges and local wallets so as they may impose taxes. They may not tax the transactions itself, but they may tax the users or service providers.

The best option that the government can do is regulate the exchanges and wallet provider. Then the tax will be deducted per transaction accordingly to specific calculations that is in the law. So the one will declare it is the owner of those sites and the personal information of those account is safe from government documentation. No to individual harassment and it will lessen the corruption.

This could also work for income taxes and impose it upon those who earn income through cryptos such as the traders or miners. Although most jurisdictions do not have established legal frameworks for cryptocurrency, if taxes were to be imposed then income tax may be considered.

Taxing is good but it is impossible to track every transaction and impose tax on them. That's not practical. Instead the taxing authority can impose tax on your yearly or quarterly crypto income. If you are an investor of crypto, then capital gains tax can be implemented and if you are just earning through providing various services, then tax can be imposed on your total income. If central bank starts imposing tax and regulation on crypto income, it will being a huge positive change in the market because then crypto will be termed as a legal tender. So I welcome this step taken by ECB and I hope they will be providing a proper framework to us for using crypto in near future.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin used by criminals ? on: January 05, 2018, 10:52:16 AM
Bitcoin can be used by criminals. But so does fiat currencies like the USD and other currencies.

People having the mindset that bitcoin is being used by criminals and should be banned is heavily flawed. Cooking knives are also being used by criminals, or specifically murderers to kill, but does it mean that knives should be banned? No. Because knives aren't made for that purpose. Same with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

It's been a stigma for quite some time - that bitcoin is used by criminals and therefore makes it illegal or bad. Bitcoin is simply a medium that may be used by criminals or anyone who have bad intentions. It's just a minority of the users yet people still think that it is prevalent.

There are a lot of other mediums used by criminals such as fiat and as said, 'cooking knives' but this does necessarily render these things as bad or illegal. It all comes done to the user and their morals.
270  Economy / Economics / Re: what benefits you've got from bitcoin in 2017 on: January 05, 2018, 08:10:53 AM
year is almost changed, what have you got from bitcoin this year (2017), I personally benefited a lot from this crypto currency, I am an unemployed because in my country difficult to get a job, I really helped by the bitcoin, I can give a little money to my parents and it makes me happy to help the family economy Smiley , and my hope in the next year I hope to be better in doing all the tasks and hope to be able to work in the real world, what about you? and what motivation mu for the year to come?
it helped me a lot on my families financial needs. Bitcoin has a lot of benefits not only for me but to all bitcoiners out there who earned more just because of bitcoin. Not only I learned a lot from bitcoin it also gives me the opportunity to earn right in the comfort of my home.

Not only has it helped me as well in earning some sideline income through signature campaigns that I've joined, it has also taught me the value of money. I became conscious of my finances and learned to consider investing for the future. Learning about cryptos has made me want to invest so that I may be financially independent in the future.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Dencity-Where you choose your meta life on: December 28, 2017, 01:44:29 PM
I think it's the first project of this kind. Can you let me know if there exists any else blockchain enabled city ?

I don't think there's any other project out there like this. On top of that, this project integrates the use of virtual reality. Virtual Reality just came out recently and really gives its players a new experience and more interaction. The use of blockchain technology in this projects makes it even more like its real life. These aspects makes this project truly a one of a kind.

273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Dencity-Where you choose your meta life on: December 28, 2017, 12:53:30 PM
fantastic project, I think it should be fun to become a citizen in your virtual city, can't wait to try your application Smiley

I think so as well and the virtual reality aspect really sounds promising. This is what makes the project unique and different among the others.
Yes, this looks like a totally futuristic project and seems very interesting. This are be a very large amount of community who would like to support this and use this services offered by the project.  Waiting for the project to become successful.

If the virtual community would expand, then this would allow the project to grow even more. There's a lot of potential in this project and it looks like this would lead to its success in the future. With the world becoming even more technologically advanced, a virtual community sounds timely and appropriate for this generation.
274  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is like heroin on: December 27, 2017, 01:03:45 PM
Bitcoin doesn't produce addiction just like heroin does or other other types of drugs, or like with gambling but it similarly has made some to make impulsive and reckless decisions. I don't see it as an addiction but rather it can make one blind and greedy. Because of the promise of money or getting rich which gambling and bitcoin brings and some has believed, this has made the behavior of some to be reckless to the point that it may ruin their lives. It is in that way which makes bitcoin similar to heroin - or drugs.

276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin End Goal on: December 23, 2017, 03:05:31 PM
I think Satoshi's end goal is to succeed his project to a stage where people have the ability to be independent from banks, while that's almost true now there are still a lot of businesses that don't accept Bitcoin. For me the end goal is basically the same, I don't want my money to be controlled by banks. As they use my money to invest in nucleair weapons and other bad stuff.

The fact that bitcoin is decentralized has allowed people to be free from banks and financial institutions. Perhaps this really is the intention of bitcoin - to provide freedom for the users. However, we have not escaped high transaction fees and whales who may or may not have some control. Also, most of the other people's end goal is to profit from bitcoin. Even the miners intend to profit handsomely which accounts to the high transaction fees that we experience.
277  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Psychology of waiting on: December 18, 2017, 05:11:39 PM
I have now heard a lot of people talking about they are waiting for bitcoin to drop, so that they can buy bitcoin. But these guys might have said that since 6k$ and are still waiting. What do you tell those people, to try and make them understand that waiting for a drop can cost them huge percentage gains?

They're kinda pathetic and I'm sorry for that, waiting for bitcoin to have a downhill is too far to happen like just look at the current price and wake up from their dream and live in reality. Instead of waiting, why not buy now and have a sure profit afterwards as you can see the graph its uptrend and it's unstoppable. I always saw people asking if that price is a good entry point or they'll wait a good timing without realizing that they actually missed the perfect time.

Those who have been asking whether it's already a good time for them to buy bitcoin have been missing out a lot and end up regretting because they eventually buy it at a higher price. Bitcoin will most likely only have occasional dips and it's not likely for their to be a huge price drop any time soon. Even with the whales, the price would just go up and recover right after they make a dump. It does have an effect but the bitcoin price will just eventually recover.

279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful, bitcoin will correct on: December 18, 2017, 04:49:38 PM
A correction has been anticipated for quite some time now because of the frequent price increase. Most of the investors know and expect this so they most likely won't sell even when this happens. Only the stupid and noobs would panic sell when the price dips even just a little. Knowing that bitcoin is volatile won't surprise someone when the price would frequently go up and down. It's actually healthy for the price to go down every once in awhile. It's a chance, as said, for buyers to buy at a low price.
280  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now that BITCOIN hits the 18K$ USD LEVEL.... When will this GIANT BUBBLE burst? on: December 18, 2017, 03:51:33 PM
In your own words, why do you think BITCOIN is about to burst? Or, at which level it will burst?

This is a textbook example of begging the question.  Tell me, have you stopped beating your wife?

For my part, (1) I don’t think there is a bubble at all; therefore, (2) I don’t think there is such a thing as would burst.  I’ve heard the term “hypermonetization” suggested to explain Bitcoin’s extraordinary growth; but I am lukewarm about that.  I’m studying the evidence and working out my own theory.  Also, (2) I have never beaten my wife—(1) assuming I have a wife; here, that is compound question-begging just like yours!

That's true. The question had the presumption that bitcoin really is a bubble.

Most of the bitcoin hodlers and users don't believe that. Obviously, bitcoin has a lot more potential to grow in the future and therefore wouldn't 'pop' very soon. With that being said, it won't burst anytime soon. The price will just continue to go up and grow even more. OP didn't even cite any reasons why it's a bubble and why it would burst - you simply assumed that it will.
