the  Cry continues, the sky is falling, people losing faith....

meanwhile, some of us bite the bullet and solomine and mine your DMD for you. Smiley

My Cryptsy support ticket was closed within two minutes of opening it. Closed description is as follows:

"Hello 2tights,

We are very sorry that you are having this issue.

DMD is currently offline for maintenance.
We are asking users to please be patient while
our tech team is working to fix the problem.
Rest assured that your coins are safe and
your transactions will process as soon as
the tech team brings it back online.

Again, we are very sorry for the delay and inconvenience.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Cynthia

lots of  Cry ing around here. Can someone please start a more productive dialog, please?

What's the status on Cryptsy support tickets?

He just wont get it. The reason why it doesnt make sense to mine DMD at that difficulty with your average pc is plain math. pure and simple.

Additionally when only mining  at night your chances drop a lot more.

@2tights: there isnt emotion anywhere, im only interested in investing in something worthy and im doing the maths. which leads to mining other coins right now and just buying dmd.
but that leads to the question: will the devs fix things fast enough to not disrupt mass appeal.

I hope the answer to your question is  "YES"
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond Coin (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 09, 2014, 04:55:39 PM
I would suggest than if your unable to solo mine diamond you should be mining some other coin right now. I am sure the Devs or someone will get pool mining working at some point. Getting upset about something you can't do anything about is pointless.

I cannot mine diamond while I am awake. I can't let it run that long without messing with it.

What problems are you having? I've been very solid for days.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond Coin (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 09, 2014, 04:52:33 PM
hello.
Who follow the forum http://dmdcoin.net/forum/index.php/board,1.0.html there is something to actively distribute spam.

even on the official forum the "DEVS" last update was over a few days ago! now that is truly prompting his community!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are wondering where this are at right now, here is my understanding:

1. solo mining is working great.
2. Cryptsy isn't working yet
3. pool mining is generally not working

The dev has stated they will work to get that pool component working, and it will be an update to DMD once the fix is found.

I don't know if that has changed.
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond Coin (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 09, 2014, 04:41:48 PM
caps are very appropriate here.

he just wont get it. if you like statistics then see it this way: you CAN find the same amount of dmd in a week. but if you DONT YOU HAVE LOST ALL THE MINING TIME
if you were in a pool you would get relatively constant results ALL OF THE TIME

this is only about horsepower. besides, for any kind of statistical significance you would have to run 24/7 with constant operation and that is something not achievable by the majority, the guy with a normal pc.
The guy that also has to use his pc for you know work and stuff?

"if you like statistics.."

dude it has nothing to do with "liking" anything. Its math, plain and simple. Argue with your emotions all you want...

This isn't personal, it's just funny to me really. You can lead a horse to water....
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond Coin (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 09, 2014, 04:12:23 PM
@2tights: mining is NOT working fine you exlude all the vast majority, the average users that need normal pools like danbi's

so much time has passed. devs need to look into all of the things that the others above me and myself have posted and get going fast or this is gonna die just as fast as all the other 99999 clones.

If you'd just solo mine, then you'd be fine. I'm up to almost 40 DMD... hows that waiting for pools going for you?

There is no advantage to pool mining other than minimizing short term variance. However, right now as many have stated, solo mining is working just fine which contrary to your perception is more important than pool mining.
270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond Coin (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 09, 2014, 03:22:48 PM

common trust? well every moment that goes by and every proprietary and not open source change they make to make this "unique" running the road alone doesn't offer trust.... take a look at the entire world not just a small part of it!

the dev said"   Still hacking, but so far, we have two choices:

1. make DMD hash like the other groestl coins and fork (!) again.

2. Modify both stratum AND the miner and avoid the fork. I am currently working in this direction.

taking the fork would solve the problem and number 2 is simply taking on a doubt full approach on coding that may or may not succeed.

I would think more of trying to get this working as others are working and not simply hack stuff to simply make it work for the moment then later it happens again. or not? but who knows?
with taking the fork it would get this coin back in the running trying to recover some of its credibility and would have several "devs" working on it not just this team

That's not the dev, that's me. There might be other options I am not aware of, that the dev might know. I am just trying to help -- and this is what I have come to so far.

Both approaches are fine with me -- the new DMD needs significant modifications from the old DMD in order to be mined in pools, no matter what. Either forking, or making the proper modifications to stratum/miner will work. Forking is just more painful.

By the way, "hacking the code" is the stage when you make it work. Then you refactor your hacks before publishing to make it fit the respective stratum/miner/wallet frameworks.

Again, I am not the dev of either the wallet, the stratum server or the miner. I am just an member of the public, who happened to care.

I think Cryptsy should get their wallet working. Beyond that, DMD shouldn't be forked again to accommodate private pools. mining is working fine. I'm certain that someone with the proper software skills will get it working on a pool.

If you read back on this thread, you'll find the answers that you're looking for in regards to solomining configuration.

Does anyone know what the status of Cryptsy is? I cannot generate a wallet for deposit...

Watching the diff spike and stay in the upper 60's makes me think your pools are working 'mo 'bedda.

How do you think they got your email to begin with?

they didnt get his email. it was a forum inbox message

these things happen alot. in the past it has been found that scammers prep their list of 'marks' by asking forum topic questions such as:
"how much bitcoin do you own"
"what wallet software do you use"
etc

these info gathering games are what scammers do to target the right people. after all there is no point phishing someone if they only have satoshi dust to their name. and theres no point entering into conversation with them to tempt them to download trojans if the scammers code is not compatible with the victims wallet.

so usually scam emails and private messages are targetted to the victim, because the victim has made some form of admission that he is worthy of being scammed. either admitting wealth, admitting he runs a wallet that is compatable to a certain tojan or the fact that the victim admits to not have 2FA on their other logins or lastly, they have been scammed before so are proving to be an easy 'mark'

This was sent to my email account associated with my bitcointalk account.

I had my email not hidden, so I set it to hidden now. I agree that it was a targetted email, because my email was published and my bitcoin address has a decent balance which is also visible on my account.

Hi,
I just had to sign up to add to this discussion. Was getting a bit frustrated with some ppls unability to understand the complexity of things.

Guys, some positive attitude please. They are trying their best to fix this. I managed to connect. What you have to do is change the "stratum+tcp://" for "http://". The stratum is acting weird remember.

@Ahmed: Im logged on but i get all rejects or stale. States "target-miss". Hopefully that helps your troubleshooting.
And if I understand correctly, you are trying to set up a P2pool? I could prob run a node if you got all the software working Wink Im on a solid connection in Northern Europe.

And the increase in hashpower could come from vultures that see a weak network where no one is mining. That's a definition of a party Wink

thanks I can connect now

nothing but rejects

dmd.cryptopools.com back up for testing

URL for mining:

U used http?

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 10
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
sgminer.exe -k groestlcoin --no-submit-stale -o stratum+tcp://dmd.cryptopools.com:3345 -u 2tights.username -p password  --xintensity 300 -g 1 -w 512 --auto-fan --temp-target 82 --lookup-gap

I haven't modified the script and it worked fine the other day

Still solo mining.

24 hours now WITHOUT a single coin though, 36 hours with just 1 (one machine that's never had even one), and that after getting off to a nice start that met with expectations.

The overall diff picture hasn't changed in that time (roughly the same as 3 days ago while trending ever so slightly higher).

What has changed was the mention of "secret" private pools.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=580725.msg6552787#msg6552787
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=580725.msg6550578;topicseen#msg6550578

If they're big, then that puts the little solo miner out of business. But is that really true? Statistically speaking, my miners should have the same probabilities of solving a block (as in BLOCK!) regardless of whether the entire network were all one huge pool except for little old me, or the entire network were nothing but solo miners with me included, correct?

1 big pool + little old me = same probabilities = all solo miners with little old me included, correct?

The so called "lottery ticket" is exactly the same for little old me, and it's completely independent
of the make-up of the rest of that particular statistical universe, correct?

24 hours with zilch is really stacking the odds though.

Something smells fishy. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Add: @ahmed_bodi, will be sending you some hashpower sometime tomorrow - I want to give this some more time with concentrated hashpower for statistical reasons first. Do I need to create a login or do I just use my DMD address?

How much hash power do you have and how many blocks have you found?

it's extremely slow at the moment, but it works eventually
my sync today also took forever but it worked in the end

did you download the files in the OP?

I've had to reload the client twice, and for me it only took 10 minutes to sync because I downloaded all the files. Maybe I'm mistaken.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond Coin (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 07, 2014, 07:30:37 PM
I see, that there is only 1 working pool - http://dmdpool.digsys.bg
But it's only working nominally, accepting shares, but not even 0.0000001 DMD has been confirmed or unconfirmed after almost 6 hours of mining Sad Only valid/invalid shares count is changing.

as he indicated in response to my post, your hashing power is wasted right now until they figure out why the pool won't accept block payout when solved. They've solved, but no DMD have been accepted.
