Why didn't you post the internet header on this email?

2k a day for 2 weeks until the following difficulty adjustment. If this is your first time mining you are going to be very sad with how quick the rate of return goes down.

This is not my first time...Ive had gear since august and ive done great. Everyone just thinks about bitcoin. Last I checked there were multiple coins mined with sha256. This is the very beginning of a concept thats going to change the world. I have already made a small fortune. I would be a fucking idiot not to reinvest. There are a lot of gambles in bitcoin. Mining is just one of them. But thank you for your concern

I'm curious what other sha256 altcoins you mine. I'd also be curious to hear your thoughts about what you think might happen between now and April.

Well i just mine bitcoin. Im still making 200 a day. But unobtanium was making more than bitcoin at one point a few weeks ago, and thats sha. I think bitcoin will be at 1500-2000 by april.

I think April 1 BTC will be 3529.00USD  Now, to create reality!
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing what you CAN'T afford to lose crew on: January 06, 2014, 11:12:01 PM
I hear everyone say "don't put in more than you can afford to lose", but is anyone else putting in more, as in what you can't afford to lose? Or am I the only idiot with too much balls..

I have around $17 grand into BTC/LTC... this is NOT money I can just afford to lose. I have around $8000 of debt but I'm paying it off bi-weekly with every paycheck. I'm devoting myself to cutting down useless spending this year and keeping track of my money better so I can maintain or acquire more bitcoin. I'll probably have to cut down going out on weekends and making trips this year, but I'm okay with that. Bitcoin being killed off at this point and going to $0 is unlikely in my view, but I guess anything can still happen. But on the other hand if it skyrockets..... well I'll be a very happy guy.

Anyone else putting in way more than they can afford to lose? I just wanna see who you are so in case we crash and burn I'll have some shoulders to cry on.

It's an interesting question. I certainly won't be very happy if I lose the money I "invested" (speculated with). I think you're 100% wrong that you're the only one with huge fucking balls because you decided to make a stupid decision. Yes, I believe you are incredibly stupid to invest $$ which shouldn't be. But, then again stupid people every days spend 120% of their income and dig themselves a financial grave so your behavior doesn't surprise me. And to be more specific, I believe anyone who speculates on Bitcoin has balls, whether they are aware of their gamble or not. I'm in for a lot of money for my Neptune, to me, although I know some people who have purchased 10 or 20 of the Neptunes, so do that math really quickly and tell me how big their balls are. Its the same bet for them as myself, only they're in WAY deeper.

It may be the difference between how you are qualifying. In your left hand is $ to gamble with and the right hand has other $ as something you shouldn't gamble, but do anyway. Totally nuts, why even think? Why not just run around with fists full of cash and buy every shiny thing you see.  Cheesy

525  Economy / Speculation / BYRON WIEN: Bitcoin Will Collapse In 2014 on: January 06, 2014, 10:06:02 PM
Thoughts?

Fist off, I don't know why this is considered news. Anyway, it seems to me like he doesn't understand the basic premise of the technology.

http://www.businessinsider.com/byron-wien-on-bitcoin-2014-1

Blackstone Group vice chairman Byron Wien does not have a lot of faith in Bitcoin.
Included on his list of annual "surprise" predictions is the possibility that acceptance of the digital currency collapses this year.

"In 2½ years the price of a Bitcoin has increased from $25 to $975," says Wien. "The supply of bitcoins is fixed at 21 million with 11.5 million in circulation. Bitcoins lack gold’s position as a store of value over time. During the year Bitcoin’s acceptance collapses as investors realize that it cannot be used as collateral in financial transactions and its principal utility is for illegal business dealings where anonymity is important."

Wien's 2013 predictions did not pan out so well, but perhaps he will have more luck this year.

I have the story of missing on the BTC train, now im depressed for life because it was my only chance at not having a shitty life, but I ignored the whole Bitcoin thing years ago because the news I saw were linked to ilegal stuff. Then 3 years later I find out it's at 700 USD. Now im stuck in this shithole and will probably die out of boredom.

Thank you satoshi

The train hasn't quite left the station yet, jump on.

Agree - you have infinite opportunities to change your life every day. In regards to bitcoin specifically, a multitude of opportunities are possible but you'll need to create or actualize them. Nobody is going to spoon feed them to you.

You sound very depressed. When I was young I used to be depressed.  Until I realized that my depression was simply a combination of my thoughts and brain chemistry. Changing one changes the other.

No, BTC was unique because the investment needed was so little for massive gains if you were there, also it's computers related. I have no fucking ieda about other stocks related stuff, but I knew about Bitcoin, thats why it's extra depressing. Im fucked.

well, then, you'd better begin to unfuck yourself up. Put on yer thinking cap Smiley It's almost sounds like you enjoy this self deprecating tone. When you're through crying, the world will be waiting for you to make it your bitch.

528  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Asic miner giving the best return on investment ? on: January 06, 2014, 08:02:53 PM
So which asic miner available as of now would you advise ?

Take a look at http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/ bottom of the page for a list of companies selling bitcoin ASIC miners and availability. Butterfly Labs has a 50 GH/s Bitcoin Miner in stock now: https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage/50-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html

The best deal on a miner that ships immediately is a Bitmain Antminer. Antminers are far superior, and cost lest per GH than the old, power inefficient, 65nm crap BFL is selling.

The group buy link is here:

yeah don't' get BFL'd
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name the 0.0001 BTC unit - 1st POLL on: January 06, 2014, 05:58:00 PM
Bitcoin/Bit/Satoshi is the way to go. Each range of 4 decimal places will cover 10,000 units, which is easy to remember, and the names are easy to say. And look at this beautiful little thing below. You can express this whole naming scheme in two lines!

1 Bitcoin = 10,000 Bits
1 Bit = 10,000 Satoshis

Simplicity. Marketability. Roll-off-the-tongue-ness.

I like this, but the amounts wouldn't make sense to people in terms of most transactions, buying a coffee would cost 100 bits ?

Well, shit why not? Certainly at least 100 units of value can be extrapolated from a cup of coffee, right? maybe 10 units for the cup, 10 units for the water, 50 units for energy consumption, 30 units for service.

Indeed, our present situation in life is a cumulative effect of all our previous thoughts and actions. What you think and do NOW will determine your future mental state. Take the bull by the horns and change it. Do not regret or look back, look forward.

spot on. It's powerful, thought. Thoughts are the most powerful creations so be conscious to create good thoughts and be conscious to ignore bad thoughts, depressive thoughts. Consciously decide that whenever those thoughts enter your mind you will instead purposefully replace it with a positive thought. Once you get some positive thinking going, it snowballs and becomes a powerful force on its own.

Also, I think the best and simplest way to start thinking positively is to recognize that every day is a new beginning. So, if you woke up this morning you should be pretty fucking stoked. Smiley
531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Holy crap that was a large transaction on: January 05, 2014, 06:30:31 PM
$175,864,186.70 according to Blockchain.info

Any blockchain analysts fancy doing some digging?  Smiley

It was definitely 10,200. Are you stating $ for a reason? Although I am certain of this amount, shortly after there was another very large transaction but I didn't see the amount.
532  Economy / Speculation / Re: when will be the next bitcoin drop on: January 05, 2014, 06:12:03 PM
so...

is the price going to go up and stay there?

or we are going to see another drop to 500$?

what do you think?

after consulting my crystal ball....I have no idea. Neither does anyone, else.

533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Holy crap that was a large transaction on: January 05, 2014, 06:04:19 PM
Every so often I bitlisten.com

Just now, I saw the biggest transaction that I've ever seen. I know there have been larger ones, but I haven't seen them.

It was 10,200.80 BTC (i think, but I by be a few off)

I'm not that knowledgable about tracing bitcoin transactions on the blockchain, but I'm going to dive in to see if I can follow the story of the wallet this huge transaction was sent from as well as the wallet that it was sent to. Wow.

Does anyone who researches these have any thoughts on this transaction?nnn

Mod note: link changed to bitlisten, listentobitcoin contains malware

536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can you use Bitcoin ASIC hardware to mine SHA256 alt-coins? on: January 05, 2014, 07:25:14 AM
This thread intrigues me. Once I get my Neptune, maybe it will be more profitable to mine altcoins, sell or exchange to bitcoin?
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / altcoin on KNC on: January 05, 2014, 05:46:38 AM
Is anyone currently mining other sha256 cryptocurrencies on KNC hardware?

If so phase discuss this choice and it's profitability.
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Im starting a new rig and i need some help. on: January 04, 2014, 03:53:02 AM
Let me save you a lot of searching and requesting opinions on this.

# 1 - Don't buy that rig

# 2 - Do one of these two things:

 Either pre-order KNC Neptune

or

Buy as many BTC as you can with the money you have allocated for investment/speculation/gambling/burning. Then hold them as they increase in relative value.

Smiley

I agree about buying bitcoins as a good way forward. I don't agree pre-ordering any mining equipment is a good way forward. If the date slips your ROI goes down the toilet.

"If". therein lies the gamble. Also don't forget if difficulty goes apeshit crazy, if exchange value plummets, if etc etc.

But, there could also be a plateau in difficulty, hash power, price could increase exponentially (again).

One promising sign is the rate of adoption for business. Hopefully those trends continue.
539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Im starting a new rig and i need some help. on: January 03, 2014, 11:46:42 PM
Not cheap - I paid 13k for mine, because it'll be delivered sooner than anything ordered now, which is 10k

However, if you research this (also use forum.kncminer.com) you may come to the same conclusion as the rest of us:

The future of bitcoin is unknown, and the factors which dictate possible ROI are, of course, ever changing.

Difficulty, bitcoin price, network hash rate. These are the metrics of concern. Use bitcoin profitability calcs to give you an idea of how this speculative investment might end up.

Its very speculative, but I think that lots of us who bought tickets and are riding this crazy ride believe Bitcoin value will continue to increase which will result in profit. Naysayers will believe bitcoin will either crash completely and be worth nothing, or they believe that the difficutly of mining will quickly out pace these machines and render them to nothing but expensive heaters.

However, you can't be sure... good luck whatever you decide to do and hopefully nobody is spending their mortgage payment to buy an ASIC super computer.

https://www.kncminer.com/products/neptune-second-batch

Edit: maybe some persuasion is in order. I urge you to please research what your proposed hash rate will "earn" you (mined coins - cost = Profit). I must say that very few rigs can be profitable, now. Please don't take my word for it because it's only my opinion based on the information I've gathered. You may come to another conclusion. However, I would hope you'd research this point very seriously before "investing" any money.
540  Economy / Economics / Is Bitcoin failing? on: January 03, 2014, 11:32:33 PM

Does this mean that we won't see a more even distribution of wealth?

http://bitcoinexaminer.org/wealth-distribution-fiat-currency-vs-btc-infographic/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

The people with the most existing resources will be able to secure the most BTC through mining. How will BTC resist the concentration of wealth?
