261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 07, 2014, 07:54:15 PM
Also. What he fails to mention is most people lose money trading. The best thing to do is just buy and hold good investments.

I lost over $30k by not selling XC near it`s ATH, swings and roundabouts. $30k is a lot of money considering you can buy a house for $100k in most countries. I now realise the HODL until death mindset is not a good way to make money when the markets are controlled by super pumps at these low prices.

Take Litecoin for example, it hit $60 on the Chinese exchange (BTER) I was one of the few people to be able to sell some coins at that price before the crash but I had already stupidly sold most of my coins at $1.8 (sold 1700 LTC) before the pump. But again if I was bag holding LTC I would not have sold at $30 or $60 and waited for it to drop to $20.

You may as well be holding a bag of sweets because you cant get any real world money until you sell.

And this is why your not a trader. You didn't sell when the markets high, and now your trying to get people to sell when it's well below its low.

Seriously, allot of money has leaked out of XC in the last few hours into VTC, so much that the price dropped 20%, so you then come here and tell people to transfer their money over to VTC when the dump is commencing. Meaning, they would have to sell out at a 20% loss to get into a coin that's being dumped.

I can't put into words how stupid that is.

this.

"I'm tired of being called the badguy all the time"

Easy solution.  Stop your whining, stop trolling this forum with your relentless negativity. Problem solved.

Your welcome.

Actually, you know nothing of my position. (Hint. You are wrong.)  You just endlessly display bitterness and a low intelligence. It has grown old. It is sunny outside, go play. Do something useful with your life. You have a finite number of moments to be alive, and you are wasting them here.

Excellent article. And the Chinese stories are crucial to understanding the psychology at play.

Speaking of trendlines, there some EW trader who gave a 3 hour lecture on youtube about how all of the trendlines are going to break due to EW and they all have to retrace. Even that lower line, the one I'm following, he thinks is going to break.  What do you think.

Dan is consistently wrong. And keeps altering his consistently wrongness. Follow him at your own peril.

Actually Dan was calling 400's back at 850.One would have made a shitload of money following his model. Say what you want about his low end, but to call him 'consistantly wrong' is undeserved.

Huobi has shown it can sleepwalk upwards for hours. Plus those pumpers are out there somewhere. Dangerous place to short imo.

Rpietila

Water under the bridge. You are a smart guy and have been right alot before. Given current conditions, including 1 day macd turning down, china falling apart, breach of major supports - i woulld be very intersted in hearing from both of you thoughts on the next 72 hours.

3-b?) I don't know what these "sidechains" are, but anyone can read about the development going on in the BTC world if you just look.
4) ...

You need to read up on sidechains brother. It's a game changer.

Can anyone who has read the different announcements today speak to the issue of whether chinese will have problems getting cash off exchanges in the near future, i.e. a Gox type situation where coins are the  only way out?

272  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC CHINA ALERT... Mainland China Accounts can fund and withdraw via banks on: March 29, 2014, 07:05:26 AM
Could this also be a way of culling their client base into two groups, which would be a necessary first step in dealing with the ban if it is real?
273  Economy / Speculation / Re: the China PBOC event explained on: March 28, 2014, 06:16:54 AM
Bitfinex operates out of Hong Kong. They are not affected by the Chinese Government.

Do you mean "Bitfinex operates out of China mainland, in Hong Kong; They are not affected by the Chinese Government."?

Because I always thought Bitfinex is a HK business, am I wrong?

Correct.

Bitfinex bank is in Shanghai, will this pose a problem?

"You are coming to my bandwagon whether you like it or not."

Anonymint. No one is coming to your bandwagon.

1) the IRS regulations are draft form. Smart money & insiders will make sure there is a foreign currency style exemption for normal daily commerce in the final rules.

2) whatever cap gains hurdles remain will be woven in to next generation wallets & payment apps. just as a whole slew of apps are now emerging for doing cap gains on bitcoin trading.
275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do not expect value-based investors in China to hold a bottom on: March 27, 2014, 04:49:39 PM
For now, $$$ prices are pretty ugly too.

Of course $$$ price is so beauitful (520) now, or how do you guys usurp the bloody Chinese coins? Arbitrageurs are shiping the coins nights and days to keep USD price down. Just keep buying, if you drop the ball the ball is dropped forever. There will be more Chinese coins to dump. I just don't feel right that the ban only caused 15% drop in price.

When I say 'bloody Chinese coins' I mean it. Quote myself:
I endeavoured to travel hundreds miles away to Xi'an for last weekend's bitcoin event ( www.yangyang.tv hosted it). Given time I'd write a full report, but in this forum of speculators a few words of sentiments should suffice.
.... snip ...
In the event, any time not spent on discussing security and mining, are spent on discussing margin trading. 3 of the 4 top Chinese exchanges are offering margin trading: they are: chbtc, huobi, okcoin. The one not offering margin trading, but instead offered liquidity rebate (a measurement to stablize price, opposite to margin trading) is BTCChina.  To my surprise, only a few are geeks, and that many non-geek participants in the Xi'an event look as if they scrapes by. To think these are the ones engaging margin trading frightens me.

Hey, just wanted to say, thanks for your contributions to this forum, it is great having someone from China speak openly across the divide. I always read your posts very closely.

Not sure if still crashing on the China FUD?
Why do you guys call it "China FUD". It is a FACT that PBOC issued advisories in December saying that banks and third party payment processors should not deal with bitcoin exchanges. Chinese bitcoin exchanges have now been illegally and manipulately skirting by this for months. How long did you think it would go before some enforcement action was taken? Even if this particular news is fake, it is only a matter of time before it actually happens.

Here I was thinking that current prices were representative of a Bitcoin that had moved on from China and now we were pricing based on demand outside of China. But I guess I was wrong. We still have deluded people ACTUALLY thinking that China is still with us and that China is just going to last forever and bitcoin is perfectly ok in China, and that we should price Bitcoin based on these assumptions. "yay go china"   "omg ltc on china".  Ridiculous!

Hey, I just started trading on bitfinex and my limit order disappeared without filling. What gives? Has that ever happened to you?
Had to pay double fee to market order.

might be a glitch? happened to me twice this morning, but both times I did not check to see if the order showed on BFX window b4 clicking over to BTwisdom. And it never showed up there. Ijust assumed i did not hit the button hard enough : -)
277  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Ready for action?] Panic or Greed: How are you feeling today? on: March 24, 2014, 02:10:28 PM
Lest time it went to 550 it jumped to 700. So I guess buy.

Last time it went to 550, it went up to 550.

"White is a factor because browner people are too busy enjoying the outdoor and natural life. The white males are stuck inside with winter and find indoor male hobbies. Females in general aren't going to adopt anything that is not super easy, not threatening, available in pink, and lovingly accepted by their peers."

"First of all Bitcoin (as it currently stands unless morphed as I say above) will be limited to reasonably affluent, white males mostly under age 50. Thus figure the upper limit of adoption is several hundred million. Note NE Asians are white."

Anonymint. If you want to break out of the rather small racial / misogynistic  bubble you are opining from you could research what Mpesa (Kenya based, with hundreds of millions of Africans as a customer base, skin color other-than-white) is doing with bitcoin. Implementation being lead by a young woman who spends more time with African bankers than barbies.

Or not. Your choice.
279  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitoin could worth more than half a million dollars each on: March 23, 2014, 02:58:39 PM
This is the pitfall of only educating yourself to the point of "knowing how to day trade bitcoins".
Not only do you not see the value of the long term investment, but you have no idea why it would ever go above $4,000 like most people in this thread have said.
You're all viewing it as a stock.

I would encourage everyone here to do some research on the platform, rather than hyperfocusing on the market price day to day.
Also find out whats going on in the innovation realm with bitcoin all over the world.
You guys need to understand that the possible market reach for this technology is staggering.

There are 40 million people in Africa alone who are currently using a digital currency with their smartphones to transfer funds.
There are at least 3 startups I know of which are working to replace that with Bitcoin, as it is cheaper and faster.
That's 40 million new people using Bitcoin.

Now add to that the remittances market, which everyone agrees Bitcoin will dominate first.  $300 Billion dollars.
Do I need to repeat that?
$300 Billion Dollars.
For one market that Bitcoin is capable of disrupting.

Awareness of the Bitcoin Protocol leads to awareness that Bitcoin will go into countless other financial markets and dominate as well.
$4,000 a coin is a pittance.   Believe me.
Remember that every time you try to make a quick $20 by selling your coins.
Buy and hold instead.  And buy more every chance you get.

Dude why don't you keep your religious moralism to yourself.

I usually just lurk as not to muck up rptilas thread, but this is too low hanging not to pick on.

1.  Anonymint took no religious position when he made his argument.  He was using religion to appeal to his audience.  You missed this completely.

2.  The answer to your above question is because he has as much right to express himself the way he wishes as you do.

In other words:

Why don't you keep your a-religious moralism (sic) to yourself?

not a-religious at all.  i took no agnostic or atheist point of view.

he certainly has the right to drag the bible and abortions and misogyny into this discussion. and i will continue to exercise my right to resist that islamists and the christians and every other breed of book thumpers take over the public square.  religion is incendiary to all not wearing the favored clothing, which is why the enlightenment made such great strides in agreeing that it belonged in the private sphere, not the public. that, cAPSLOCK (sic) is not moralism. or a-moralism. or whatever low hanging fruit you are after.
