261  Economy / Economics / Re: War on cryptocurrency! on: January 17, 2018, 02:32:47 PM
Governments of many countries are practically declaring war on cryptocurrencies.
Why is that?

I give some of the governments the credit that they really want to save their citizens from losing their life savings.
Many people make investments even if they have no idea of what they are dealing with.
Those people get in and out of the investment at exactly the wrong times. And if those people go bankrupt, it's the rest of the society who has to take care of them.

Of course, not every government has those respectable motives, but some of them really do.

262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China bans bitcoin EVERY year on: January 17, 2018, 02:22:29 PM
I think the list of op shows good how resilient bitcoin has become.
Every year multiple new life threatening scenarios are dragged through the media.
Some of them even creat major dips of bitcoin price, but after a while the price recovers and bitcoin takes another attempt to a new all time high.
This time it won't be any different.
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forbes Magazine calls Bitcoin a "Great Scam" on: January 17, 2018, 02:02:01 PM
From how I read that article, the writer only calls a scam what is known as a pump and dump sceme.
And that is something that happend to the whole field of crypto currencies many times.
To bitcoin itself, he says that it has 'usefulness as a unit of exchange'.
264  Economy / Speculation / Re: Am I late ? on: January 17, 2018, 08:04:41 AM
It's never too late and never too early.
There are a few missed opportunities in the past, but I am very sure more opportunities lie still ahead of us.
Right now for example we see some kind of a larger dip.
There are many people here who consider this to be a good time to get coins.
265  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Goes Down! Surprising or not on: January 03, 2018, 07:02:28 PM
To me it looks like bitcoin is stabilizing.
And for a volatile product like bitcoin that means it's oszilating in a certain region.
It looks like that region is somewhere between 13K and 15K.
The 20K we have seen, that was an overheated market. Bitcoin had to drop down from there.
But I would be surprised if we see bitcoin fall strongly beyond the level of 13K.
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Over 500 Billion dollars market cap, what if big investors cashes out on: December 16, 2017, 02:01:58 PM
I think that a big investor became a big investor because he knows what he is doing.
Throwing all coins on the market at once would have some impact to the price if a big investor would dothat.
That includes the coins the investor owns. No investor would intentionally damage his fortune.
If somebody with a lot of coins decides to cash out, he would do that in small steps.
267  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it too late to buy bitcoin? on: December 04, 2017, 09:38:36 AM
I still think bitcoin developement has only started.
When I look at the newspapers, the crypto currencies are still not mentioned very often.
A large part of the population is still not aware of its existence.
Of course the price we see today is higher than some months ago. That does not mean we have reached the end of the road.
Today we get a smaller amount of bitcoin than we did in the past. But the profit options are still the same.
268  Economy / Economics / Re: Easiest way to make BTC? on: December 04, 2017, 09:10:55 AM
I really think that right now the easiest way to make money with bitcoin is good signature campaign connected to an account with a higher level.
With the bitcoin price we are facing right now, you can earn a relatively good amount of money.
I am sure that the money you can earn there is enough to make a living in many countries.
And the best part is that all you need to have is  skills in english, some time to do writing, and a knowledge about bitcoin.
All those things you can teach yourself. No degree is needed to be successful with bitcoin.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: December 04, 2017, 09:04:35 AM
There are many possible ways to make profit with bitcoin, unfortunatelly there are many ways to lose money with it as well.
It does not have to be a decrease of bitcoin price.
The coins can be stolen, you can make a mistake with a transaction or simply forget the data to access your coins.
So bitcoin is and always will be a risky business.
Turning all your money into a risky investment is not a really good idea in my eyes.
270  Economy / Economics / Re: Are electric cars bad for the oil industry? on: November 23, 2017, 09:50:39 AM
On a short sight, I think I have read that producing an e-car needs more energy and oil than producing a regular car.
If you look at a longer period of time, then of course an electric car uses less oil than a normal one.
But hey, the oil reserves are not endless, so at some point a change needs to be made to a technology that is capable of using renewable energies.
Oil can be used much better in other parts of the industry, it does not need to be burned.
271  Economy / Economics / Re: The dream of getting rich with bitcoins on: November 23, 2017, 09:43:19 AM
I invested 2000 USD like six months ago and earned around 1500 USD.
You earn 1500 bucks for only holding Bitcoin or Altcoins?
Depending on the price movement, if you are holding bitcoin and based on the price performance now then you can earn more than that because the price keeps increasing. What you can earn is based on the amount you invested, if you put a bigger investment then expect a bigger return, that's so simple but never only see the bright side as the price may also fall anytime when there is a big news that will have a negative effect on bitcoin.
Six months ago, we had a a BTC price of about 2K, at the moment we have 8K.
I suppose the investment was not in BTC or there was some trading involved. Otherwise the profit should have been around 6K.
Of course 1500 dollars are good profit as well, but pure holding could have improved that.
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how can bitcoin survive with 26 USD transaction cost? on: November 23, 2017, 09:19:52 AM
The way I read this the transaction fees in your account settings are... lets say not in your favour. But I suppose you can change that manually.
26$ for a transactions is really too much, even with the current price we have and the number of miners migrationg to BCH.
Just look at how high the fees should be at sites that monitor the transactions and give propositions to the needed miner fees, and you will have a much cheaper transaction next time.
A few dollars, that should usually do the trick.

273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you USE your BTC? on: November 23, 2017, 09:04:06 AM
Usually I do not touch my coins.
But recently I made a payment with crypto currency.
I did not use bitcoin directly, instead I transferred the bitcoin I wanted to use for that purchase into another cryptocurrency that has faster transaction times and lower fees.
It worked all really well and I got all my confirmations in time. But that was an exception with a lower amount.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can I protect my self from being hack of bitcoin on: November 21, 2017, 02:46:36 PM
I think it is a smart move to store coins in different wallets.
If one gets compromised, then not all are gone. Different suppliers, different passwords.
Of course that means more administrative work, but in the end, to me it is worth it.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a True Believer? on: November 15, 2017, 04:19:38 PM
When I read the original post of op, I must admit I am not a true believer.
I keep my coins, you could call me a long term holder.
The coins I own usually do not circulate anymore, although I know that that is exactly what they were ment to be.
But I think there are many ways of being a believer in bitcoin.
Holding them and keeping the price at a high level, for me that's one of them.
276  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What to do when prices are falling on: November 15, 2017, 04:11:01 PM
I must say that I do not trade very often.
But when I see the charts drop, I simply do not look at them anymore.
I have confidence in Bitcoin, and I have seen many drops occure and disappear again.
None of them was able to shake my positive opinion about bitcoin. But I must admit that it's hard to watch when the price go down.
Sometimes I switch off the computer and do something different. I think that is far better than making an impulsive move. The rebounce always comes.
277  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin still reach $8k this year? on: November 15, 2017, 03:49:07 PM
Actually I would not be surprised if we see 8K at the end of November.
All this disturbances we have seen in this year, they did not last more than two weeks. After that bitcoin did what it always did: it went up. Mostly faster than before.
Of course the way bitcoin has moved in the past is no guarantee that it shows the same behaviour in the future.
But if you ask me if it falls or grows in the near future, I an convinced it will grow. Except something unforeseen happens nobody had expected.
278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is there such demand for Bitcoin? on: November 15, 2017, 03:26:27 PM
People want to get rich... I think it's really that easy.
And when it comes to bitcoin, they have a pretty good chance to be successful.
When we look how few people only came in touch with it until today and compare that with the price we have already reached, that gives hope that this might really be the way to become wealthy.
Nearly 80 % of the bitcoins are already mined, and a lot of their owners are long term holders.
That means the other 20% must be enough for the rest of the world. I think that is why many people think: Better get one while you still can!
279  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin better than stocks, real-estate? on: November 15, 2017, 03:12:47 PM
Maybe I am conservative, but I like to diversify investments.
And that is why I think that stocks, real-estate and crypto currencies complement each other.
I try to generate a balanced system of risk and safety. And to me that system needs more investment fields, not just one.
Although crypto currencies give most profit at the moment. When I look at how quickly they move in price, I would not want to miss my other investments.
280  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is not gambling on: November 15, 2017, 02:59:14 PM
I think it all depends on how much you know about bitcoin.
Just investing money without any knowledge, only with the hope that the value increases, that would come very close to gambling.
But when you know what bitcoin is about, a little bit about the technology behind it and the community that exists around it, then you have good reasons to believe that the value will increase.
Then it's not gambling, then the estimation of an increasing bitcoin price is the result of researche.
