261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZOI] Zoin - Zerocoin based privacy - CPU - No founder's reward - 0.8.7.4 on: November 30, 2016, 11:35:39 PM
haha yeah, the dev is nowhere to be found and thinks that the community will solve everything. This coin still can be saved but it needs some progress and development.

The dev commented in this thread 24 hours ago. His user name is zoin, and he made the OP. He's been making updates to the code, and testing building it on windows and linux. That's quite an active dev who isn't expecting the community to do everything.

262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: German Central Banking Workshop Focuses on Blockchain on: November 23, 2016, 10:45:04 AM
Why do they need a blockchain ? Can't run a database anymore ? Should I be worried about my bank savings ? I still have to meet that one person that can explain to me what a bank does with a blockchain.

They can use blockchains to store unalterable records in. Any bank could check a record and know it was legit without needing to trust any other bank. Banks do business between themselves, and they often have to move massive amounts of money to a bank on the other side of the world. Keeping records of that in a blockchain would be safer than in a database because a database can be altered. but a blockchain cannot.

Something wrong with NovaExchange? Price chart is current but all other fields are empty.

All the fields show up filled out for me. These are some of the trades I can see for today. There must be something wrong with your browser or internet connection. Try clearing your cache and refreshing the page, or checking if your router is working properly. If it was a fault at the exchange's end you should be able to see the trades now because I'm having no problems.

264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2016-11-03] Microsoft Doubles Down on ETH on: November 04, 2016, 01:00:49 AM
Windows is as broken as Ethereum - they're making a good couple.

Eth will drag Microsoft down with it. They'll loose the edge in this tech to other companies the way they are operating in the space.

Good time to short Microsoft? They're clearly incompetent. Probably grown too big to have good management and decision making. They'll shrink themselves in no time.

They found another bug in ethereum's smart contract's programming system. The most controversial fix proposed for future bugs discovered is making the contracts upgradeable so that owners can change them after they start running.

First they said the whole point of smart contracts was that they couldn't be changed, and now there are so many bugs they are discussing making them upgradeable. Those buggy smart contracts remind me of the bsods you get on windows.

It's probably safe, but virustotal isn't infallible. This warning is stickied at the top of the altcoin section. It warns that virus scans is no longer sufficient to ensure safety. There are sophisticated attacks that are undetectable, you only find out you've been hacked after you realise you've been robbed.

In the past months, malware infection attempts on this forum has become increasingly sophisticated. Below is a summary of infection techniques that I have encountered. With the most sophisticated attacks, common sense and virus scans is no longer sufficient to ensure safety.

Who trades C-Cex?

if you place a large SELL order at a reasonable price likely will get hit in the next 12 days.
if you place just (ever so slightly) higher bids they will likely be filled.

the spread is tight .. UNO spot can shift from 1 of 5 markets in an instant ... that's rare too ... it would be nice to keep C-C in the frame Wink

Everyone uses the big exchanges like Bittrex, losing a little exchange like C-Cex is not important to Unobtanium as a coin. However, C-Cex keeps any users coins who don't withdraw a delisted coin from C-Cex within a few weeks of the delisting date. The OP should have a warning in it telling the community to withdraw from C-Cex fast while it still can.

15. Currency Delisting

Quote
The currency delisting procedure will be performed by the exchange only with a prior announcement of at least 14 days before the actual delisting of the market. A notification by newsletter will be sent to all user e-mails (all users are subscribed to the newsletter by default), Twitter, Chat and on the main trading page ("Important News" section). Markets will also be highlighted with a red color to let users know that the market involving the currency is planned to be removed from the exchange. This gives users ample time to trade or withdraw currencies before they are delisted. Balances cannot be recovered after a coin is delisted. Wallets can be given an extended grace period for withdrawals if server performance is not affected.
