261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: November 10, 2015, 08:57:22 PM
Load up a fresh wallet and import the private key I suppose.

I made a paper wallet and sent some coins there. Where can I check this address to see everything worked out well?

THX

Where I can check the address?   THX

try this line in your gridcoin.conf file

suppressupgrade=true

any way to stop the wallet from restarting (for what seems like) every day for updates?

I have tried for the last 2 weeks to start staking, and between the wallet freezing and it trying to auto-update, it's getting very frustrating.

Ohh Nice, I didn't know it was already working. Spass, you should make a separate thread on cryptocointalk about it.

The pool is inofficially already open, we just do not have a beautiful frontend yet.

If anyone is interested, PM me your computer-name and Gridcoin address.

Then I will send you a bam weak-key, use this as the user-name in the boinc-manager (no pw required).

Then you do research for the pool. Whenever the pool earns something (once every 1-3 days) the reward is distributed to the researchers relative to the research done by them.

I guess just wait till the pool is up and then you won't need any coins to mine.

Over 2 weeks now here and no payout yet  Cheesy , I guess I need more coins in my wallet because my magnitude is 170

Looks like they are out of work units, some projects don't have steady flow of work available.

Im using BOINC since years. mostly with the same few projects (Grid/ Seti). Now I added some other projects like "atlas" but BOINC isnīt downloading any tasks. Why? Do I have to chance something or they have just no work to calculate at the moment?

THX
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gridcoin overtakes Monero with a $4.6 Mil Market Cap! on: November 04, 2015, 04:12:22 PM
LOL, It will probably alternate back and forth for some time. If GRC can match Monero's volume over the next few months that will be even more amazing.

It wasn't when I wrote that, but still it's pretty stupid to race two coins that don't do the same thing.

*and it's not again.

**and it is again.
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: November 04, 2015, 04:04:05 PM
I have to admit I didn't expect GRC to hold up this well, but if you really think about it, it kinda makes sense. GRC has value outside of its exchange rate to btc, meaning all the Boinc work that is being done.

All the alt coins have tanked through the 2 day Btc rally and GRC is still in its positive trend.  Smiley
This just shows you, how much potential this project has and its bright future ahead.

hahahahaahhaa, this guy talks shit on every coin he doesnt hold, very simple, even if the coin is legit if you dont hold it you gonna spread fud. You have some of the biggest scamcoins in your profile, how dare you to even criticize other coins, you hypocrite.

Here is a tip, get rid of all them shitcoin besides bitcoin, cus non of those will even get 100 users in the real world.

when blockchain tech becomes the norm you will see that the original alts will all be worth a fortune to collectors. I'm scooping up more of all the eldest alts on dips. Sadly now most of the big wave 1 alts have jumped with bitcoin so no super bargains around.

sorry to burst your bubble, but all these scam 1.0 bitcoin copy none going to use in the real world wont be worth shit, bitcoin already gets the job done, the rest is all copy past, when are you noobs going to wake up and stop getting emotionally attatched to your coins.

New GRC calculator that estimates the potential earnings based on your RAC for each whitelisted Boinc project. Great Stuff!

I am actually running the twitter acc for Gridcoin, just so everyone knows that I am extremely biased towards GRC! Smiley No shills here!

Ethereum, Monero, MaidSafe, DASH, BitShares, everything is getting crushed on Poloniex! And GRC is holding steady while Bitcoin is going nuts! I am speechless!

Gridcoin shills in the making, gridcoin the new monero.

Definitely not as high as Monero's yet, but I think eventually it will get there. Coinmarketcap says about 20k USD today, so about a 1/3-1/4 of Monero's daily volume.

What's the daily volume though?
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: November 04, 2015, 02:04:12 AM
Gridcoin just took over Monero on Coinmarketcap with $4,728,397 at spot #15!!! This is the first time this has happened.

275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gridcoin overtakes Monero with a $4.6 Mil Market Cap! on: November 04, 2015, 01:57:15 AM
Yep, it did take a while! lol. All the alts are getting destroyed right now, GRC is actually holding steady on Poloniex.

Good.
Monero sucks goat balls !

Gridcoin is useful.. Monero is not.
..this should have happened sooner.

This is the first time Gridcoin has climbed to the #15 spot on CoinMarketCap.com!

Congrats on your first "Research Age" block!

For all the beginners with magnitude problems, this post in reddit helped me a lot:
https://www.reddit.com/r/gridcoin/comments/353v3w/newbie_must_read_how_to_pick_the_right_boinc/

And talking about time until mint a block, I have messages similar to those of cyberspacemonkey, with estimated reward time between 30 & 60 days. Yesterday I got a block and was awarded with +600 GRC (mag of about 200), when only about 2 weeks have passed from Research Age installation. On the other hand, Iīm Boincing with my wallet opened 24 hours per day.

Salute

279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: November 01, 2015, 03:35:48 PM
Atlas is probably a much better choice for you. Test it out and see what kind of magnitude you get.

You will get your POR block eventually, but it may take some time with a magnitude of 30, which is very low. Milkyway@home is a very competitive project and you will need a lot of graphics cards to get your magnitude up. My advice would be to pick a less competitive project.

Yep, 200 coin balance and a magnitude of 30 is gonna take some time! If you guys wanna see what other people are earning with their magnitudes I urge you to take a look at the statistics here: http://www.gridresearchcorp.com/gridcoin/?result&t=Whitelisted_Project_Leaderboard

Also please read this on how to pick the right boinc project for your hardware: https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/38205-newbie-must-read-how-to-pick-the-right-boinc-project-for-your-hardware/

Hey traderman I just found out that payout timeframe limit got changed from 14 days to 6 months  Huh so that means I'm going to have to wait months to get paid? my POS says interest won't be paid until 130 days and DPOR says 23 hours so is there any way to calculate how long it will take to receive payout?

Just so you know Cyberspacemonkey, I'm seeing exactly what you're seeing too.  So I've also been benefiting from the answers to your questions.

I started on Oct 25
My balance is under 200 coins (only what I've been able to get from faucets, I have not been paid for work yet)

My Total Credit is currently at: 279,565
My Recent Average Credit is currently at: 20,467.39
My Magnitude is now showing: 30.00

Estimated time to earn next reward: 288 days
Estimated time to earn POR reward: 23 hours (has said that for about a week now too)

So you're not alone.  Seems like this is just how it works.

I picked the 3D MilkyWay@Home project to go along with my ASUS video card.

I was hoping to get a POR payment to improve my balance for POS, but I have no idea what the POR amount will be, or when.

I read though your NEWBIE post and have suspended the MilkyWay project and added ATLAS.  I only have one video card, so I guess I should stick with CPU projects.  Seemed like ATLAS had the lowest competition, if I'm reading the list right.   Smiley

Thanks for the help!
