I think we need to ask coindesk to do an article on Gridcoin.

posted GRC summary information to http://coinwiki.info/en/Gridcoin

curecoin has a running testnet, which seems about to go public.
Most participants there haven't even haerd of Gridcoin yet.
maybe we can make them aware of us?

I've reached out to their subreddit http://www.reddit.com/r/curecoin/comments/21cy9q/rgridcoin_declares_a_reddit_boinc_leaderboard_race/

I've reached out to /r/einsteinium since they're a 'scientific' cryptocurrency and have got them to add us on their sidebar.

great move! Smiley

If we all get active on the subreddit we can really start reaching out to people.
Once we get 200 suscribers, we can get added to /r/cryptocurrency - a subreddit with 50k suscribers; this will definetley improve our numbers!

LOL, I guess you don't like aliens very much.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=552718.0

my topic that says Boinc is gonna find the Aliens !!!!

but seriously though if there is a massive boost in hash power and people adopt this coin in big numbers
i could imagine that would be a huge boost to the computing power for scientific applications like used in the SETI project.
what ya guys think ?

i'm sorry, but i hope that seti will not be one of the top project of boinc and grc.

Once the new cpu mining client is released maybe that can actually happen.

"version" : 2010007,
"protocolversion" : 110001,
"walletversion" : 60000,

I just did an upgrade command and the newest version is still 2.1.0.7-g71

Newest version is 2.1.0.7!!!
What version does getinfo display for you on 2.1.0.7? I have installed the wallet from the github gridcoin-master and it displays version 2000500 for me, added all the nodes I could find here but it still wont connect.
Can you go to help -> debug window -> console tab -> use the "getinfo" command and tell me the top 3 results?

I got this:
{
    "version" : 2000500,
    "protocolversion" : 100001,
    "walletversion" : 60000,

Here is the linux tut: http://gridcoin.us/download/InstallingGridcoinQTOnLinuxAndMac.txt

Hello I need some help. I've just finally installed gridcoin-qt onto my Ubuntu setup. This is the first time using Ubuntu and Wine. My question is, how do I back up my wallet? Using Wine, I can't seem to find how to look into the directories. Also having the 0 blockchain connections but apparently I just have to update my config file?

I posted all this on twitter days ago.

I am assuming the site was not updated since the DDOS attack.

Newest version is 2.1.0.7!!!

All I have is this addnode=www.pgp.mx and my wallet is working fine. You might have to delete the blocks and chainstate folders in appdata and rebuild the chain from the start.

Can anyone give me an idea of the BTC/scrypt MH-equivalent when mining Gridcoin?  If profit is even close to mining other coins, I would love for my GPUs to be doing something to help humanity in addition to making my house uncomfortably warm.
I'll be frank.
At it's current all time low of 0.000019, i find it's tripple the proifitability than ltc.
Seriously.

edit:
FYI Guys, i've created 5 super seed nodes for the gridcoin payment network and created a guide at the same time.

Check the thread out Smiley https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/9199-gridcoin-supernodes/

Downloaded latest client, deleteed peers.dat, added your nodes, still 8 days behind and can't sync.  This shit is getting old, I still owe someone over 9000 coins that are stuck as unconfirmed transaction in my wallet.  It's been a month now.

Don't expect to get on a big exchange unless these issues are resolved.

Deleted both folders, deleted peers.dat added your peers along with others, No block Source available.

Downloaded the MSI installer from the webpage, version is v2.0.0.3-g71-prod

Ok so whenever there is a new version you need to update the links....where can i get the newest version if the version on the website is not that one...

I think it was great that it was launched in alpha state. That way there is no copycats and everyone can follow and join the progress.

Unfortunately for now it is, if it wasn't for the recent hacking incidents we would have an improved linux wallet, but this is a very complex project so for now this is
what we have.

If you have an existing peers.dat file delete it, i had same issues on my rigs they would not sync unless the peers.dat file was deleted.

Oh thats been done about 20x also Wink

I truly think its because this is a windows coin and the linux source is so neglected. The funky hoops you need to jump to even compile it says a ton.

Tbh, the gridcoin really needs a fork to before the hacking, or a relaunch as it shouldn't have been launched in an alpha state.

Current windows version is v2.1.0.7

C-cex and Poloniex are working fine.

Add that to gridcoin.conf and it should synch up, mine is working perfectly fine.

addnode=www.pgp.mx

I don't know what the story is on the linux version as I do not use that.

Ok, so unless something gets fixed we're going to have to de-list Gridcoin from AllCrypt.com

I was told the wallet was fixed and the RPC commands restored. So I installed it. Showing a wallet balance of zero - was told maybe it got corrupted. I havent even attempted to fix THAT issue, because I've had zero connections for over a week now.

So I ask what the current version is, and no answer.

So I download and install the windows version and see THAT version is NOT the version on Github. So the wallet everyone is using is not only NOT public, but exchanges are stuck on an out of date wallet, that as far as I can tell, doesn't even sync with the network.

No coin should be worth this amount of work just to get on the exchange.

We need this fixed, ASAP, or we're going to have to drop Gridcoin. I've personally wasted way too many hours on it.

Tried that node and every other node. Sits at 0 connections. The linux version is behind 2.1.0.7. Poloniex and the other exchange may well be using the windows wallets. God knows why if they are. I'd ask but I'm not quite sure they'd be helpful Wink

Cant hurt.
