So, I am having a random issue and I am not sure why...

Every once in a while on my server machine, one of the instances that is on my G drive (miner instance) crashes out. Just closes. I don't know why it is doing this. It is only on that one drive, the other miner on the other drive is fine, and the miner on the mapped drive on the same server, mapped to my desktop is fine too. It's only the G drive miner, and randomly...

Any Ideas or suggestions on how to get it to stop? Thanks!

I think my question got overlooked, can anyone help me out with this? Thanks!

Is it just the miner that stops or is it a plot generation too?

Try adding the word pause on a line after everything else on your bat file

java -Xmxblah blah blah blah
pause

When it dies it will pause the command prompt and ask you to press a button to shut down. This way you can see what the error is that is killing the process.

Once you get that it is much easier to help diagnose the problem.

Edit:

I am assuming your on windows.

Yea, I have already added pause to it, and am awaiting the next time it crashes out.... It is only the miner, and only 1 of the 2 miners running on the system. The one on the other drive never crashes. Very strange. The plot generation is fine on both drives.

bad sectors of your HDD?

I really don't think so... well, I guess, at least I hope not... This drive, as with almost all of the drives/components in the system in question, are almost brand new WD NAS drives. Do you think that bad sectors would cause only the MINER to crash and not the PLOTTER? It would seem to me that it would be the other way around, but I've been known to be wrong before! hehe.

How is your NAS attached ?

I think you may have misunderstood, or I may have used the wrong context... The drives are NAS drives, but they are physically inside the server, connected like any other drive with SATA and power. Just regular drives, the RED drives from WD, intended for NAS use.

I would also be willing to buy the game for you. Let me know if the other person doesn't work out.

It probably is a JAVA/Ram issue then.

What is your Xmx setting on that one? Did you leave it as 750?

Yes, the miner is still at xmx750

is anyone interested in a hosted mining service?
i meet some hosting peopling during the next couple of days to talk about interesting projects.
at the moment i have no idea about durations and pricing. for now i just want to ask if anyone is interested in.

I don't know if a hosted service would be useful in this case, as mining BURST doesn't require the power that the other styles of mining does. But I guess just being able to purchase temporary storage hosted to mine may be nice. But I wouldn't use it, because I love doing everything on my own. But I know some people would definitely be interested.

Let me know if you need any assistance with the setup. Wink

2607  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I am out of the mining game :( on: August 18, 2014, 09:19:39 PM
So im out of the mining game.

Getting asics importet from china is too expensive -.-
Electricity is too expensive in my country 0.14$/kwh -.-
and my block erupters isnt making me anything.

this game have only been a waste of money so far.

GL on your mining guys Smiley dont make the same mistakes as i did.

13 cents kwh why so high? taxes. 4 cent tax, here.

I too am fucked. I paid 90 bucks 6 gridseeds that returned nothing. Now they're $29 & fury is $35
A gawminer fury 100 bucks that hasn't returned anything.

I was played hard.

Now they're just sitting burning electric making 71 cents a day and counting lower day by day.

Bitcoin is to me is like kryptonite to superman.

I've lost out a lot.

Anyone wants to buy my stuff pm me.

Those little miners were honestly never meant to ROI (IMO) They are simply to see what mining is like, I bought the gridseeds right when they first came out for 2400 for 10, and I think after I sold them for 600 6 months later, that they came close to breaking even with the money from the sale included...

You just have to get the right equipment to make money... and right now, there really isn't much that's profitable.

I started off with 3 280x's that were making me 75 dollars a day for a while in the good ol days, then I ramped my GPU mining up to 15 GPUs that were making about the same as the original 3 by the time I got them all...

Then a few months later I sold most of them in order to buy antminer S3's , which are machines that will actually make something.

At this point it's hard to tell where I am with ROI, but I know for sure that my original miner paid itself off, as well as almost all of the video cards I sold till this point. I am keeping 1 5 280x miner and one 3 270 miner in case there are things that are worth video card mining in the future, but otherwise I am moving solely to ASICs, and only to ones with good power ratio.

Anything else is simply for fun, any of the USB devices are just for fun, and at this point anything less than a modded S1 is just for fun. Sorry you lost out, but honestly you didn't lose much, and you bought miners that were only meant for a hobby, not for actually making money.

How do I know that the id file I generated in my miner program is tied to my wallet account?  I haven't seen anything that solidly states it is.  When I open the localhost:8125 now, it opens to the correct BURST account number, but if I find a block how do I know I got it?  How do I even tell if I have found a block?

CGminer and SGminer had the Difficulty / Best Share numbers so that made it easy to tell.

if you login into web wallet localhost:8125 and click on NRS a pop up with all data appear...
difficulty information too.

Difficulty is currently 329.7 TRILLION.  Is this supposed to encourage me to mine?

Well, I can say that even with the current difficulty, I am able to hit blocks, and even when my main storage server was down, that took away over 3TB of my mining space, I still found a block last night with the 800 gigs or so that I had left, so I say as long as you have a decent amount of hard drive space, it should be pretty decent to mine.

I just suggested BURST at c-cex. (not sure if they support coins based on NXT)

Everyone else should do the same.
i won't do this. market is terrible recently. all coins, bitcoin,.darkcoin, nxtcoin, ltc, doge, all droping so quickly, all people are throwing they coins, do you think they will buy this new coin, and even at 0.04btc/10k.total market volume of burst < 100Btc. if i'm a investor, i won't buy this coin, just sell the btc, and wait to see what happened will be the following days, lunch this coin to early may be make it die

I also will not do this, I do not want burst on any exchanges yet, it will just let people dump, and I am against destroying this coin, I think it's the best coin to come out in a very long time, and we need to keep it sacred!

ABC, I am still trying to figure out the asset thing, I did the trade and now I have 1 asset, then I just trade it on the exchange right? Cool. Be on the lookout for my next sends! Can I send you more than 1k at a time, what if I sent 8k?
- sure you can.  1K is just a minimum.

sounds good, be on the lookout, another 18k or so coming your way!

Hey man,  I sent the 18k to you quite a while back, as well as another message with my nxt ID... still haven't seen anything from your end... Let me know when this will happen. Much appreciated. Thanks!
- hi, crowetic, please see this: https://nxtblocks.info/#section/txid/9758019564923764443
- it is transfer (10 hours ago) of 17.82 1000BURST assets to your NXT account.
Now you can go to "Asset Exchange" in your Nxt wallet, and place sell order(s).

I still haven't seen anything into my nxt wallet. I will restart the client and check.

I got it, I just was unaware of how the assets worked, it's saying 1 asset, but when I click it I see 18.9 or whatever. Thanks!

Also...

Side note... who the hell is placing these super cheap ass sell orders... come on guys that's crazy. don't do that!

Escrow and few pics would help. Will take all 4 delivered to uk.

Didn't you read what we have been saying? dude is trying to scam.

As usual im trying push OP to make deal. i can read and know whats happening. Not the first time not the last time.

yea, he will make a deal like this...

"hello, please send me your .5BTC to this address (address here) and I will provide you a tracking number. thanks!"

lol.

But I agree, not first, not last, and it would be interesting to see a deal actually be agreed to besides the PM obvious scam attempts.
