2601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your cryptocoins were stolen and you called the police? WTF? Are you serious? on: July 29, 2012, 04:02:09 AM
Bitcoin was created by anarchists and for anarchists. Go read up on the cypherpunks. Read the cyphernomicron. What do you think this is, some left/right san fran techie circlejerk to see who can make the coolest looking mining rig? This is a revolution. The 'politics and ideology' part is unavoidable.

So what exactly is the problem with reporting the theft then? Even in an anarchist society there would be private security companies doing the job of the police (minus the many violations of civil liberties that's becoming common these days).

What makes you think Private companies won't commit the same violations to civil liberties?

They are controlled by money at the end of the day you know...

Yeah they could, should've stuck a maybe in there somewhere.

Yeah there was another one earlier, Harve.y.

Keep your politics/ideologies out of my bitcoins.
2605  Other / Off-topic / Re: How should we deal with this Zhoutong/Bitcoinica situation? on: July 27, 2012, 06:44:00 PM
I can't believe that "make another thread" isn't winning.

Because it's none of the options listed? .....

Voted complain some more, it's close enough.
2606  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinica: When does it implode? on: July 27, 2012, 01:11:14 PM
This poll just goes to show that...I see history repeating itself with BS&T/PPT.....many on the other poll think its the greatest thing too.

Wink Dont listen to me...listen to pirate and make your own decision.

After all the hacks it blows my mind that so many people are still willing to trust so much value with relatively unknown 3rd parties.

Words of wisdom.
2607  Other / Meta / Re: at what point should bitcointalk rid itself of the alt-coin circuses? on: July 27, 2012, 12:13:46 PM
If we get rid of the board they'll just start posting in other boards about it. At least it's all contained in that one forum.
2608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitconica on: July 26, 2012, 12:16:27 PM
Is bitcoinica currently operating?

No it's been shut down.
2609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: July 26, 2012, 12:10:39 PM
I don't know what to believe anymore. Could be true, but at this point it could be just as likely that it really was Zhoutong, and this is his way of returning the money without outing himself.

Are you volunteering?   Wink

2611  Other / Meta / Re: "Censoring" off-topic posts on: July 25, 2012, 08:16:54 AM
No you're just a terrible poster.
2612  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: For Inaba & Аdministrations on: July 25, 2012, 07:47:16 AM
but I do not consider myself a thief. Return the 47 BTC I can not, they're gone, spent.

You should be ashamed of yourself.
2613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did I lost bitcoins? on: July 23, 2012, 02:49:17 PM
You can't use block explorers to determine a wallet's balance, only an address balance. To quote blockexplorer.com

Quote
Note: While the last "balance" is the accurate number of bitcoins available to this address, it is likely not the balance available to this person. Every time a transaction is sent, some bitcoins are usually sent back to yourself at a new address (not included in the Bitcoin UI), which makes the balance of a single address misleading

Yeah you were banned for "speaking out against censorship", had nothing at all to do with you spamming goatse.  Roll Eyes
2615  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will this mtgox screw-up affect the price? on: July 21, 2012, 10:32:52 AM
I'd be pissed if I was him.

While that bad boy is certainly Faaaabulous, the key question of any QR code is, "Will it scan?"

The image above is only of one I gleaned from the internet via Google to depict the 45.5% clockwise rotation. I have not idea where it leads. Perhaps pirateat40, I don't know.

~Bruno~

My scanning app failed to work on both codes. Anyone else's QR scanner working on em?

Mine did (scanlife on android), directed me to a page on stillcreekpress discussing qr codes and what they're used for.

Thanks for the clarification, and he did send you the account info? So it's settled?
2618  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dispute against -> lolwut on: July 19, 2012, 01:07:25 PM
Sounds like you owe him 3btc.

Indeed, and it probably will end up getting you a scammer tag. You had an agreement, he fulfilled his end of the deal, and you're refusing to honor yours. Is it really worth 3 btc?
2619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Class action Litigation vs. Bitcoinica Consultancy LTD & Intersango LTD on: July 19, 2012, 11:50:17 AM
Glad to see they got saved, interesting reading. Glad to see some things clarified.

I thought the emails were published on this thread? I did a refresh and the emails were gone.  Angry

Amir was almost certainly breaching the NDA by posting them.  It's possible that they were removed for legal reasons. Wish I'd scxreen-capped them now, not to post them but to digest them more fully - I only did a quick read through of the most important points.

The question is did genjix remove them or a mod ?

That leads to which mod would do so and why Smiley

Must have been Genjix, I certainly wouldn't and I can't imagine any of the others would, there's no justification for that.

I didn't know people still used imageshack.
