I haven’t made a bad bet yet in crypto. With a little luck this wont be the first. Grin

The signal to noise ratio in the altcoin universe is so epicfully horrible its no surprise that so few realize the potential here.

This coin is not competing with Bitcoin.  On the contrary this is one of the few coins which does something that Bitcoin needs.  This platform is the technical lone runner in the race for monetary privacy in the crypto space, and if it achieves it it also allows Bitcoin to be the transparent medium of exchange it was designed to be.  Bitcoin benefits by not having to simulate privacy and therefore can remain pure.

Something HAS to rise up to offer this functionality.  At the moment nothing I know of comes even remotely close to Monero's lead in this arena.

Yes this is exactly the same conclusion I came to after much research. Many empty promises. I cant speak to whether or not all of the nitty gritty crypto works with monero. There is a pretty reasonable chance that it doesnt. However this is the only proposal, where if it does what it says that it does, than the thing that it says it does will actually lead to the outcome that people expect. That is to say, even if darkcoin, for example, actually works 100% exactly the way its supposed to work, its still a complete mess.

There's no QT style wallet for Monero though, am I right?  Huh Huh

You are.

there was probably a better way to make your buys, in order to minimize your costs.  i wouldn't know.  but i lulz anyway because dude's sarcasm made me laugh.

i went ahead and checked the average that i paid and it was about half way between the price that i started buying at and the price that i ended up pushing it up to. i think it just ended up looking funny because it cleared the transactions in a strange order, so even though i bought out all of those orders, it filled some of the larger ones like a fraction of a second before it filled some of the smaller ones.

Welcome aboard.  IMHO you've just gained the potential to change your life a little. Wink

well guys i can come out of the closet now. i took a fairly significant position in XMR. you may have noticed if you were watching poloniex. those little green candles were me Smiley

Was that you with a 6 btc buy @480 when the price was 420?  That was amazing.

lulz

Did i miss something? I did a few tests to make sure that it was clearing everything in the right order and working its way up the sell orders one at a time. It appeared to be working fine when i did my tests.

Premined? no thanks....Next!

Lol, its not premined, it's nonmined. How else other than a "premine" are you supposed to distribute a crypto that doesnt use mining?

Welcome, you got in low Smiley

When i try to run bitmonrod i get

Code:
./bitmonerod: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_system.so.1.55.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Anyone else experienced this? any idea what to do?

seems like your libboost installation is fucked up. Maybe try to reinstall?

there are SO many of these libboost libraries. which one do you have installed specifically if you dont mind me asking?

when i search apt-cache for libboost-system i get the following

Code:
libboost-system-dev - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library (default version)
libboost-system1.53-dev - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.53.0 - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.49-dev - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.49.0 - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.54-dev - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.54.0 - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library

none of these are libboost_system.so.1.55.0

It doesnt want to run on linux.

Code:
./bitmonerod: error while loading shared libraries: libboost_system.so.1.55.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

When i search my apt-cache for libboost_system i get nothing. When i search for libboost-system i get back results. so i suppose that's what the devs meant to write. anyway i get these results

Code:
libboost-system-dev - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library (default version)
libboost-system1.53-dev - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.53.0 - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.49-dev - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.49.0 - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.54-dev - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library
libboost-system1.54.0 - Operating system (e.g. diagnostics support) library

no version 1.55.0

I tried apt-get update and then rebuilding my cache with apt-cache gencaches but no change. any advise?

Ok well this is dumb. Do we have source code? Lets clone it and release it public from day 1 this time.

Here we go. Right here on the downloads page. Lets fork this thing Grin https://bytecoin.org/downloads
2636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: June 29, 2014, 03:18:14 AM
Is there any pre-mine? About how may coins are there now? About how many coins will there be in circulation after a year? Why is the blockchain so big already with such a new coin?
have you read the thread?
coin wasn't released or made public on this forum until march of this year, however the coins as been out since 2012, released in places such as the deepweb.

lol no i haven’t read the thread. its like 130 pages long. how many people were using it on the deepweb? is the coin supply reasonably well distributed? or was it like a small hand full of insiders effectively pre-mining by keeping it secret.

Lotuscoin attempted to alter the terms of the arrangement on the escrow in mid escrow so I have cancelled my escrow for this project. Full refunds will be available for several months to anyone who purchased LotusShare.
if they no want refund? they can trade LotusShare to lotuscoin.

Sure. I have no control over that.
2639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Trading Thread for Nxt :: Descendant of Bitcoin on: June 28, 2014, 02:17:22 PM
who cares. this is all dumb. just use escrow and none of this matters.

I agree with Anon136 - always use escrow!

you can see proof that my account peled1986 was hacked here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=522102.msg7555368#msg7555368

You hacker not a speek a da engish so gud. He should probably get better at that if he hopes to fool anyone in the future.
