The Great Global Warming Swindle [documentary]
https://youtu.be/D-m09lKtYT4

A good, scientifically-sound film to watch, when forming one's opinion on the matter.

Watching this video i came to a part that talks about volcanoes producing more co2 than humans https://youtu.be/D-m09lKtYT4?t=24m49s. This is what a agw believer website says about it https://www.skepticalscience.com/volcanoes-and-global-warming.htm

Any thoughts from the people here who spend a lot more time studying this stuff than i do? If it is a myth than any idea where it comes from? What might have been the source used to produce this documentary?

The '97% of scientist' thing is utter crap and anyone who has a passing familiarity with various issues, definitions, disputes, etc, and who has familiarized themselves with the 'studies' from whence these figures came knows it.

and for those who haven't a passing familiarity with various issues, definitions, disputes, etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTTaXqVEGkU

im not a huge fan of his but i like some of his stuff, this being one of the ones i liked.
A 33 minute Youtube video is enough to make me physically ill.

Sorry, no can do.

It's not very hard to debunk the 97% claim rapidly with online resources.  This doesn't even rise to the level of "lying with statistics."

Lol its not a commitment. I just start watching videos and turn them off as soon as I don't feel like watching any more. I watched about half of this one. All of the information that was delivered in that half was interesting.

I hope that after a couple months of solid performance and active development you will reconsider trading with us.

Yes I definitely would.

Its really cool what you are doing but im not willing to trust someone on the darknet with my funds. You should just provide order matching and multisig escrow on the darknet. I would be more than willing to pay for that service. And the funds used to pay for your service could also double as some assurance that the other party would finish the transaction after the orders had been matched.

If i open my wallet 7/24/365 i got rewards from network??

No, you would have to run a miner and contribute some hashrate.

You can solo mine in the wallet/node using start_mining and very rarely get rewards to the network. It does help secure the coin by decentralizing the hash rate the more different people are doing it. That would be the main reason to do it, not the rewards, which would be rare and small (unless you are using many computers).

Why Monero don't use PoS Sad i mine on pool and my wallet opened 7/24 on VPS. i think i got rewards from network.:/

Because it doesn't?

If you want PoS you want a different coin, simple as that.

ok boss

It makes me sad too but it has enough other things going for it to allow me to get over the fact that it is senselessly destroying resources. If some competent developer were to come along and fork over to pos, I would move a portion of my holdings over to that fork. So long as block authors were selected randomly and not with something like peercoins coinage concept.

Hmmm

6H2O + 6CO2 ———-> C6H12O6+ 6O2

Six molecules of water plus six molecules of carbon dioxide produce one molecule of sugar plus six molecules of oxygen.

So, instead of stopping exhaling altogether all humans should be required to carry with them at all times a big plant to exhale on. This would square their carbon offset. And they´d get some sugar too.

Dont give them ideas. Some ego fascist will probably actually invent some sort of algae filled face mask, and then its just one, imagined or otherwise, crisis away from a government anti agw face mask mandate.

Masternode gaming was identified as a risk in a security review and a lot of strengthening against this was done.

Thats why I like Monero, even knowing these blocks may belong to primer- we can't blacklist his coins or track his wealth Grin

You will need one big calculator to track my wealth .. Smiley

I hope you will excuse my skepticism. Wealthy people tend to be busy people.

Any ideas on why Monero is lower than Bytecoin - have they had development or something going on over there?

I'm not the XMR evangelist many of you are in this thread but.  When I see Bytecoin surpass it - strikes me as a bullish signal for Monero ... I picked more up o.O

Bytecoin has the vast majoirity of the units held by a single entity. So only a tiny fraction of it is trading on the market. Yet the market capitalization is a function of the last agreed upon price times the entire currency supply. So its basically a trick and the market capitalization value is completely meaningless. If the big holder sold even a tiny fraction of his holding he would drive the price down to one over infinity. So basically, the market cap of bytecoin couldn't possibly be more meaningless. May as well consult an astrologer.

i thougth exactly the same. also TPTB sometimes try a new law in one country, see if there are reactions. if everything goes well and no revolution breaks out it will be implemented globally Lips sealed
cryptography is a gift, we must use it wisely. it really works and thats why they hate it

Great minds aye.

Just so you know, I said "the powers that be" because I was quoting. I am head of the action committee to replace this awkward phrase with the actual real word that means the same thing. Cryptarchy. Its a powerful idea wrapped up in a powerful word. Use it. Spread it.
1676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 28, 2015, 07:03:56 PM
Monero attracts all kinds of people around it. We even had a self-confessed bankster agent joining our nightlife in Berlin! Think about that for a moment Smiley

Even Nazis.  Wink

Libertarians, communist, and transhumanist, Oh My!

Personally I'm a Deluezean capitalist, pre-AI singularity poet, and lover of fine women--you can add them to the list if you want. But back on topic: the price seems to slide when the buys drop below 300btc and the sell above 200k. I'm amazed how much gets eaten by the market without the day to day going wild.

Price is definetely going to down.
I wouldn't be surprised even if we reach new lows at the end of the trend and stay at those lows for a while.
I am not interested in buying Monero at this point of time since it is too expensive and it has no interesting risk/reward ratio right now.
I am not sure if it will be interesting at 0.001 but at least it is less rebarbative than the current 0.0018-0.002 level.

The day someone as perpetually bearish as you buys in, do let me know, ill double down on that day.

Hey thanks for taking the time to see me boss. I just wanted to tell you something that I think is important. Something that I think you should know. This job that I do; This job that I spent 8 years studying sacrificing to get; This job that I spent 8 years sleeping only 4 hours a night; 8 years with no social life; 8 years reading the equivalent of a book a day; 8 years studying for high pressure tests; This job that i spent an entire year writing a dissertation for; This job that i went 1/2 a million dollars in debt to get; This job that pays 200,000 dollars a year; This job that has great benefits; I just wanted to tell you that you are totally wasting your money by employing me. I just wanted to tell you that 9/10 of the people with my occupation who are currently employed shouldn't be. That almost certainly includes me. I just wanted you to know that i should be fired and even though im 40 years old I should have to go back to school and do that same horrifying process over again. It's ok ill be back at an entry level job by the age of 48. So yea. Glad I could get that off my chest boss. What? You mean to tell me no one else has told you this already? You mean to tell me that 97% of people with my job dont tell you all these things that i just said? That's astonishing! Who could have possibly imagined that 97% of people in my position wouldn't tell you that they ought to be fired. I just dont understand the world any more.

I sort of think its great when governments do this sort of thing. It truly would be a disparaging development if this meant that cryptographers were going to stop communicating with each other. But that would be akin to believing that if the government repealed the laws of gravity than we would all float away.

This will get cryptography researchers heads out of the clouds and back down to earth. They will stop pontificating about abstract notions and instead start thinking about security in a very practical way.

Additionally all the most important minds in the fight against the state will now develop a culture of anti statism. Meaning they will now be applying their discipline towards practical ways of combating and undermining the state.

Also i love the way my wife thinks about these things. Most people would be tempted to despair of this. But i showed her this story and the very first thing she said was "wow the powers that be must be terrified in australia". Instead of seeing this as a depressing development she instantly saw it as a sign that the good guys are winning. And we are. Thanks to communities just like this one.

Just another example of a government shooting its self in the foot. I couldn't be more delighted.

If you guys haven't checked out Banshee yet, I highly recommend that one

wow good ratings on imdb. im going into this one blind. didnt even read the synopsis.

Let me know what you think of Banshee.   Another good one that I had never heard of before I watched it was "Bloodlines" on Netflix.   They have only done one season so far, but it is definitely a good one too...

I'm getting so tired of (well meaning citizen helps *optional*) benevolent government saving the day shows. This one honestly wasn't nearly as much of a slap across the face with it as some others i have tried. See: forever or psych or izombie (haven't actually seen this one just read the description, but it pretty much says as much in the description) or homeland or csi or criminal minds or castle or figuratively literally 90% of all tv shows. Almost all tv it seems is either witting or unwitting propaganda for the state and i just cant handle it any more. So I'm sort of jaded and cynical and always looking and always on hyper alert looking for this. I detected a hint of it, good guy government saving the day from evil businessman. So I'm a bit concerned but ill admit it was different enough that it needs more of a chance. Ill probably go back and watch the second episode.

Also there was a bit of another concerning theme here that i see starting to materialize. The theme of government needs to be able to operate extra judicially inorder to be effective. The reason it performs so badly as it stands now is the outmoded limitations placed on it by out of date out of touch laws. If it can just act outside of these confines than it can actually get things done and make the world a better place. We see this in like all of the super hero shows and movies and in true detectives for example. I have to watch more to see if thats a message in this show.

I know some will say its just entertainment just sit back and enjoy it and stop analyzing it. But you know how they say you are what you eat. This is even more true of the things that you feed your brain.
