2621  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Google Advertises Uniswap Phishing Scams on: August 06, 2020, 12:55:08 PM
Google searches recently displayed results and ads for at least three phishing schemes masquerading as the Uniswap decentralized exchange.

BeinCrypto Russia discovered that the world’s most popular search engine was showing results for (and even advertising) scams pretending to be the Uniswap platform.

Earlier today, searching for ‘Uniswap’ in Google resulted in ads for fake sites with the following domains:
Code:
uniswap.com, uniswapdex.org, and unsiwap.site.

Any companies, websites, and even facebook pages that can be searched through google can have themselves be the first page to pop-up in search results as an advertisement. Hence, it wasn't justified as Google advertising such scams, they are paid to do it, and it is the client's privacy rights not to be checked by google in its validity and legitimacy.

Also, Better post this on Scam Accusation Board to gain more support in reporting. thanks! Reporting it now..
2622  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] Stats on: August 06, 2020, 08:57:19 AM
Would you help me? I've been coding and trying to figure out ways to scrape all comments in all threads yet I keep encountering bugs with my code (python).
I did scrape all posts already (but didn't keep track of the board), so it would be a waste of forum bandwidth to do it again. I know nothing about Python though.
What are you trying to accomplish?

Imagine all threads in Pilipinas section (which I'll try to test as I am from PH), I'll try to scrape each and every comments in each threads posted into it, but all I will extract is all the usernames and their links, meaning that I could enlist all users that are filipino here in the forum as they posted once in a thread located in our local board. Then Ill try to do the same on other local boards and compare the stats to how many users are from this and that country and which country has the most users here. Though it wouldn't be a 100% accurate, but it would still be a data to consider.
2623  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] Stats on: August 06, 2020, 07:58:25 AM
A wider view, the forum used to be more actively in the past, late of 2017 and early of 2018, but now we have a very better forum (less spam, higher quality).

I think the merit implementation causes that. Back then the forum was bombarded with a lot of newbie like there's no day nor an hour that there wasn't an account made in the forum. But then now, making a lot of accounts would be useless as spam posters could easily be detected by other active members, and as merits are required to gain reputation as well as it shows a proof that you're a good member of the community.

by simply going to a local board and scrape every comments in every thread and in every page (this is really hard). I hope I could patent this idea
Actually, it's quite easy Cheesy Getting all topics on a board is something I did in January last year, and once you have all topicIDs, you can scrape all topics (which takes some time).

Would you help me? I've been coding and trying to figure out ways to scrape all comments in all threads yet I keep encountering bugs with my code (python). I hope to make a thread with such data soon and might use the code to of course scrap all local boards. But I'm also trying some other apps such as octoparse but had issues with the chronological order of tasks I want to gain..
2624  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] Stats on: August 06, 2020, 05:33:32 AM
Also would like to request (I think this is a hard one) the total logs per Country (listed on our Local Sections) - SimilarWeb doesn't allow me for I don't have Premium Account

I've been working on this for almost a month but first I'm trying to scrape users based from different countries by their local board posts, by simply going to a local board and scrape every comments in every thread and in every page (this is really hard). I hope I could patent this idea so my work and time spent studying scraping wouldn't be wasted. After that, I think it would be easy if I had stats with the links of local users and simply scrape when they are active (but would take me another month studying another prog language I guess).

I've also planning to make a thread saying I'm working on it but some might steal the idea.
2625  Economy / Services / Re: Roobet.com | Art Contest - $5000 Prizepool up for grabs! Ends August 31st on: August 06, 2020, 01:23:49 AM
Let them be part of it again mate. I mean, it's a challenge. Wouldn't you think? Come on, it's just a contest.

Haven't said that they must not be part of it. I said "would there be rules" lol. Because I saw there's a lot of great artworks yet it depends on the preference of the roobet team. No hate on winners tbh. It's just natural to have an idea that contests do also consider giving opportunity to others.

Exactly, let’s just accept the fact that they need a great job on previous contest and now it will be a big challenge for us to do better this time. Let’s start working now! Smiley

I'm planning to join but I don't know if I would satisfy myself with my art lol Cheesy
2626  Economy / Services / Re: Roobet.com | Art Contest - $5000 Prizepool up for grabs! Ends August 31st on: August 05, 2020, 11:19:51 PM
Same as last time around - judges will judge based on their own taste and preference Smiley

But how about those whom already won on the last contest? Would there be rules on such? I mean they already won and their skills would win again this time.
2627  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Protect Your Account on: August 05, 2020, 09:47:47 AM
**Also posted in Meta but sharing here too. Even if it helps one person it’s worth it**

How exactly was he hacked? Even I myself shows publicly my email address, yet encountered no issues of hacking nor anything so far. Maybe he had entered it in a website where they had data breach, or his password wasn't that kinda strong. There can be alot of prevention that can be done by BitcoinGirl.Club in his ends.

I guess this kind of thread and other thread that are helpful and must be pinned here in Beginners and Help board. Suggesting such actions isn't that kind of helpful if and only if the other newbies preferred nor haven't read issues with regards to hacking accounts even from a simple email. With regards to that, I also see the following as a good suggestion to the forum itself:

Limiting the Newbie's capability to reply on certain thread. How? They could only see pinned posts for approximately 3 to 5 days (depending on the forum management) upon their registration. Hence, all of necessary rules, regulations, and reminders would and must be read by the newbies before they can have the rights to reply on threads.
  • ADVANTAGE/s: issues with regards to users (even older ones), that they either plagiarize, spam, burstpost, necro-bump, and any other violations that they aren't aware of, would be lessen. Chances of such prohibited activities might be eradicated once the rule would be implemented. Hence, any other issues such as the hacking matter indicated by the OP would be avoided. This would also make build a better community as this forum grows around the world.
  • DISADVANTAGE/s: They need to spend days before making use of their account, and I think there's nothing more, nothing less.

Some might find this an awful suggestion, but with increasing cases of spamming, burst-posting, scamming, necro-bumping, and any other prohibited actions, then I guess we must start from the basics, by reading necessary threads such as rules and regulations and reminders for a safer account and environment.

If requested to transfer this to meta as another thread, I would be delighted to do so.
2628  Other / Meta / Re: Is this considered a death threat? on: August 05, 2020, 05:38:42 AM
I don't know if this should be considered as a serious death threat, it seems more like shit talking because of dislike towards the other person. So don't take it too seriously, unless he goes on ahead and tells you "I am gonna kill you" or something that actually implies a serious death threat. This given very little context, feels more like a person being butthurt and saying : "why u posting in my thread, oh no guy with trust rating gonna give me neg trust, i am gonna swear goats at u fuck u fuck ur mom fuck dick u big gay".

And if you don't like interacting with this user, ignore and move on. Some trolls aren't worth the sweat.

Indeed. I guess it is better to leave such argument when you already know it leads to nothing. If the accused user was just pissed off with GazetaBitcoin, I think it's just natural to post his emotions, as we are born with different mental and emotional capabilities with different level of patience. But the argument and issue here is simple (as already answered by Rizzrack,

- He opened a thread where he offered translations (it was badly written and was very vague. Most might have understood he needed translation)
- You offered him your translation service which he took as thread hijacking (and legend has it that you are still translating his word to this day)
As for some reason he chooses to speak english English on a romanian Romanian board i'll I'll just say that I make the translation understandable, i I don't either have nor want all that stupid gramatical idiocracy idiocy (n.b. for this context, the correct term is idiocy, but the caveman doesn't know what idiocracy means) as there's someone else to bother with that. Ofcourse Of course, any translation would be written without grammatical mistakes and a corrector will be used on top."
- he got upset and started cursing very bad
- you then called him out for his broken Romanian
- some more swearing, some more translations, some more cursing...
- you then called him out for his broken English
- some more swearing, some more translations, some more cursing...

Hence, IMO, GazetaBitcoin was just a perfectionist writer, but took things too seriously when he had a feedback from his posts. Thus, even you had your fluency in both languages, that doesn't justify your patience and maturity. Doesn't mean that he said to burn you then you would accuse it as a death threat, not unless he knows where you are nor had any contact with you threatening you in a much fearful way.

You cannot extinguish fire with another fire, even a spark can help it.
2629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anti AntiVirus Bitcoin Core on: August 05, 2020, 02:38:16 AM
1. Mining functionally removed from Bitcoin long time ago
2. Bitcoin Core is open-source software

Then I guess that nowadays, most anti-virus software doesn't include Bitcoin core and anything related to cryptocurrency to their whitelist, maybe due to some factors such as it can be used by some who would make their own code with it's system to have a suspicious script injected onto it, and also there are a lot of opportunities for the hackers to use anything crypto-related such as wallets to gain access to their targets.

Though it was an open-source software, it's also a vulnerability as scripts can be easily added to such programs and they might make their own torrent server to be downloaded out of it. But still, a lot of AVs still hasn't whitelisted each and every programs made and updated everyday, and even some AVs is just a fraud making their own viruses and a version of past detected viruses.
2630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anti AntiVirus Bitcoin Core on: August 04, 2020, 10:41:55 AM
Recently we decided to ship Bitcoin Core with Wasabi Wallet. However this resulted in an unpleasant surprise, where numerous anti-virus companies started flagging Wasabi due to Bitcoin Core is being flagged too.

AFAIK BitcoinCore was flagged due to the fact that some applications uses some computer's graphic cards for mining, such as the issue of LoL back then where someone detected a mining code running in background of League of Legends. Hence, anti-virus blocks any applications that has something to do with mining cryptocurrency even the BitcoinCore itself.

I'm not that tech savvy but I only see such possibility in this case. But what operating system are you using? If that would be Windows distros, then it is not that kind of unusual case as its pre-installed Windows Defender flags anything suspicious as virus, as long as it wasn't their product or an open-source product.
2631  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: JETWIN CASINO HAS OFFICIALLY REFUSED TO PAY ANY OF MY 25,000 DOLLARS IN WINNINGS on: July 31, 2020, 04:17:23 PM
That only mean one thing, they might be guilty of this accusation, but I hope they will solve this to save their reputation in the forum and for OP to get his big winning. It's hard because this is the only venue where you guys can PM the representative, if you do it on their site, I doubt they would respond if you are not the one who have the problem.

Not giving the final judgement but I believe they are really guilty on this case. And I don't think that they even care for their reputation here, they do not even care about it when the OP warned them about posting the issue publicly.
Plus they are threatening the OP if she continue to file a case against Jetwin.
Their "last level support" is very rude negotiating about the case, they are not being professional.

So maybe the best thing to do is to fight them (if the OP can) to the court to stop this kind of fraud.
2632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The difference between a true Crypto gambling site and a Fiat/Crypto site.. on: July 31, 2020, 03:29:01 PM
I noticed a kind of trend these days, with a lot of Fiat online casinos, starting to offer Crypto currencies. The problem with these casinos are that they are not really Crypto gambling sites. Let's take the Slots for instance... Your normal Fiat online gambling sites will never offer bets smaller than say $0.10 per bet.... but the true Crypto gambling sites will offer bets for a fraction of a cent. (Stake.com original games for instance makes true use of Crypto micro bets and also sites like Freebitco.in)

The other sites will take your Crypto currencies, but they will still use Fiat values as a guideline to determine the minimum bet... this does not make full use of one of the best aspects of Crypto currencies... which is micro payments.

The growing popularity of cryptocurrency is one of the major reasons why fiat currencies are becoming hybrid (fiat/cryptocurrency gambling sites).
They want to go with the current flow. If not, they will lose huge market because there are a lot of gamblers that are betting using crypto.
This is an important market strategy... to be able to ride what is currently on trend.

I think it is just normal that they will still use fiat value to be the guideline for minimum/maximum bet, what's the wrong wit using fiat values as guidelines? Nothing right?
2633  Other / Archival / Re: Bank Account Freezed on: July 31, 2020, 02:38:51 PM
After a long time, I found a right place to ask my question.

Last year, my bank account got frozen. Bank said that my account is blocked based on the instruction from Cyber Crime.

I did few P2P Trades on P2P Platform. Is that the reason?

No one has contacted me so far? Does any faced similar issue and got it resolved? If Yes, how?

Update:

I am from INDIA.

There could only be 3 reasons why banks froze your account:
  • Your account was suspicious for doing illegal activities
  • You have unpaid debts on your creditors
  • You have unpaid debts on your government

You should know what is happening on your bank account.
In your case, I guess the bank thought that your account was suspicious so they froze it.

You can defend yourself if you knew that you did not do anything wrong.

I agree that you should keep your silence until you get your own lawyer because they are the one who can defend you legally.
2634  Other / Meta / Re: Am I the oldest member here? on: July 31, 2020, 01:43:29 PM
Last month I has my 78th birthday, is there anyone here who is older than me. I can still remember snatches from the air raids in the second world war, and it is interesting how some things make such an impression on children's minds.

Obviously I have a lot of friends who are over sixty, and not many seem to be able to understand the concept of virtual assets, even when I cite the examples of stories, and fiat currencies.

Sir can we know your background? I mean what was your job and how did you last for 78 years and be close to the forum, bitcoin, and cryptocurrency? I was amazed with your capability being 78 and still kicking the forum with the knowledge and experiences you share. For the past years I've seen you're post were too great and helpful. And looking that you use Kali, I see you are somehow a tech savvy, either a programmer, a hacker, or simply a bitcoin enthusiast that considers first his safety.

Enough said, Belated Happy Birthday. This post maybe too late, but fun fact that you posted this thread on my birthday lol Grin
2635  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is bitcoin a currency or but also a money on: July 31, 2020, 01:08:11 PM
What about bitcoin? I will like you opinion on this but as for me, bitcoin itself is completely money because it is also a safe haven like gold, currencies can be seen physically but what makes the currencies money is the value they possess, this makes me conclude that bitcoin is money, bitcoin have such value and a safe haven people turned during economy inflation.

Can't it be both money and currency? Isn't a currency be used as a money? As for me, Bitcoin is both. It is a currency for trading, and a money that can be used for buying. There's no chance that that it would only be a currency nor only be money. Why? If ever it was only a currency, then there's no chance that stores nor services accept it as a mode of payment. And if ever it was only a money, then there's no such thing as Bitcoin trading and there would be no crypto market at all.
2636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ever wondered on how many days BTC has been above a certain value? on: July 31, 2020, 12:40:02 PM
It turns out that BTC Price has been equal to or surpassed these values on the reflected number of occasions (days):
-   10K on 189 occasions (distinct days)
-   11K on 112 occasions (distinct days)
-   12K on 59 occasions (distinct days)
-   13K on 46 occasions (distinct days)
-   14K on 41 occasions (distinct days)
-   15K on 30 occasions (distinct days)
-   16K on 20 occasions (distinct days)
-   17K on 16 occasions (distinct days)
-   18K on 6 occasions (distinct days)
-   19K on 4 occasions (distinct days)
-   20K on 1 occasion (distinct days)

Can you also have a data if it was a growing occasions or just simply a stable one? I mean is it gradually growing or it happens in a common month annually? Such data could be use to predict when year that Bitcoin would reach again the 20K highest price, because it's too obvious that if 10K instances that days it reached would be hitting often, it would soon as well reach the 11k, 12k, so on and so forth. But then the question is that what chance it could often reach it and how long would it take to occur multiple occasions of a limit.

I hope you're getting me lol Cheesy
2637  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Mga magagandang topic tungkol sa seguridad at privacy on: July 31, 2020, 12:05:21 PM
~

Gusto ko din sana ipromote yung sarili kong thread which talks about ethical hacking and how attackers hacks users through files and mobile applications.
[DISCUSSION] Why you shouldn't trust any anonymous files and applications.

Though di siya ganon kaganda and ka-informative yung content (kasi na move din sa off-topic kaya na dump agad), I hope it would help yung iba nating mga kababayan lalo na yung mga download lang nang download ng files and apps online hehe. Salamat!

Bumping this kasi nabasa ko ang thread and I see it was both informative and helpful lalo na kung newbie ang mga magbabasa, and I think this thread fits the category of a good topic about sa security and privacy. Hope cryptoaddictchie would consider adding this to his translated thread.

IMO, this must be pinned kahit yung mga threads na naglalaman ng helpful and informative threads. Though translated, I think pinning such would make a huge help sa mga kapwa nating pinoy na newbies here in the forum. Isn't it right? And if ever na kayanin and may time lalo na ang mga pinoy translators natin, I think translating those helpful threads inside the list would be appreciated lalo na sa mga newbie na hirap naman sa ingles (rare case pero possible). Just a thought.
2638  Other / Meta / Re: An unfair treatment of Bitcointalk moderators on: July 31, 2020, 11:05:51 AM
Mistakes are common in this life, and we all make mistakes at one point or the other in our lives. I am writing this on behalf of my friend who has opened up to like 4 accounts and all has been banned, he even paid for like 2 of them for upgrade. Yet it was blocked at the slightest error. It is now safe to conclude that the admins of this forum want to make this a money making venture, looking for every excuse to ban people without a fair warning.
He told me the post that was claimed to have been erred has been deleted, isn't that enough punishment? Then the account got banned permanently, up to 4 accounts, there's no hope when one appeals, i am appealing to the moderator responsible to please unban my friends account @da_primate(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=947001;sa=summary).

He promised to abide by the rules of the forum to the letters going forward.

We don't see that it was on behalf of your friend. If it was so, shouldn't you be not a newbie here? I mean such reasoning could still point that you are that "friend" that were banned and just posted such thread for what purpose? Un-ban a shitposter that most of his post only is a one-liner and even had many of them on off-topic section? Dude this isn't a twitter thing that you could post as shorter as you want. Yes he had freedom, but making 4 accounts with the same points of unnecessary short posts would be enough reason to be banned. Also, with your newbie account "protecting" your friend is also a mere point that he is evading his ban.

Not to hate, but there's no unfair treatment for over the years until you voice out the impossible.
2639  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Congratulations to me on: July 31, 2020, 10:31:52 AM
Congratulations to me...

Now that you've reached Member rank, the problem/hindrance you could encounter now is discouragement, time, and lack of ideas. Why? As long as you are here in forum or you wanted to contribute more, it would also take a huge step and change to your discipline to encourage yourself to study more of anything related to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies or just simply anything informative you could share to the forum, in which also requires you to spend most of your time just for such studying. And if ever you haven't done such thing, time would come that you'll soon experience lacking of ideas that could turn your quality post onto a shitty one.

That's just a simple experience that I would like to share. Hope you would do greater from time to time!
2640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investment plan on: July 31, 2020, 10:01:26 AM

1. bitcoin 40%
2. ripple 30%
3. bch 30%
4. ethereum 10%

What do you think of this list?

Don't invest on Ripple if you plan to make it on long term. It is centralized and soon it can be dumped but I do also trust it. But then again, 30% of someone's holdings just for XRP is too much. Better invest more on ethereum than ripple. And BCH? Really? It had so many issues especially it was separated in two back then, hence investing on it wasn't the brightest idea. Bitcoin and Ethereum with 50/50 investment is enough and can make you huge profit. Or better consider investing on stocks as well so that you wouldn't have that much loss if ever but you could have bigger profits if you are on long term investment.
