1661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is Neither Good or Bad on: March 01, 2023, 10:26:05 PM
I have checked every page of replies on this thread and I think, to those who saying gambling is bad and wouldn't recommend to any of their relatives, no offense, sounds a bit hypocrisy, because at the same time they are using gambling related signature. I respect your life principal and belief why you avoid gambling, but by advertising a gambling company on your own signature and earning money from there means the opposite of your own words.

While I'm here, let me state my opinion. Well, I think gambling is like liquors or cigarettes, which it might be quite addictive to some people but as long as you can handle the effect and you dont do it frequently, then you really know how to enjoy it. If we talk about the bad effect of gambling, well everything has its bad effect if we do that too much. E.g. if you play video game too much, you'd waste your precious time and your health could get affected because you are too busy to play and don't eat properly.
Point taken, coz if you think about it their argument for not letting their relatives know about gambling is the fact that it could make you lose all your money, but the fact of the matter is they mistake the method with the perpetrator. You won't lose all your money if you gamble responsibly, and do not succumb to the pressures of losing money on a bet all to win your capital back, that's not how gambling works. Smoking and Drinking are a not good examples however because those things, save for liquor are inherently bad and are created to be addicting, because if that's not the case I don't think people will have a hard time quitting their vices. Nonetheless, you've made your statement clear and I stand by it as well.
1662  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake Loses $400K Bitcoin Bet on Jake Paul’s Bout on: March 01, 2023, 09:35:59 PM
Another huge loss become public.
it seems that the famous Canadian singer has made a bet on Jake Paul that turned to be wrong Sad
400K USD has been wasted. It seems isn't the first time some public bets result in a loss ...

here more details:
https://news.bitcoin.com/rap-star-drake-loses-400000-bitcoin-bet-on-jake-paul-in-split-decision-loss-to-tommy-fury/

what lessons can be learned by this event?

This was never the first time Drake lost a lot of money over a single bet. I heard he's a high roller and always makes big bets whenever he gambles. He's also addicted to gambling too, so there's that. If someone living in a middle-class setting earning off of a minimum wage job were to emulate what he's doing, they'd literally burn through all their investments in a year, even lesser if they have less or no investments and savings at all. So, besides retaining proper discipline when gambling, it turns out that you can also be filthy rich, if you wanna be addicted to gambling that is. Kiddings aside, as I said earlier, this was not the first time he lost big, If i'm not mistaken he also made bets on Mcgregor amounting to millions of dollars only to end up whack, and other athletes that I forgot the names of.
1663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Casinos lack slot clubs; comps, is it hard to achieve? on: March 01, 2023, 08:55:01 PM
I've noticed the loyalty programs of online casinos ranging from withdrawal limits to bonuses, but they're not as enticing as the local casino's slot clubs in places like Las Vegas Casino and Caesar's casino in Atlantic city for instance, that offer comps to active players; free hotel rooms, food, shows and events etc. We play online and how can such a club be useful or achievable? shipping comps to players for time spent and money lost playing online isn't it a strong marketing technique for an online casino that wish to boost its customer base and attract more players? Was wondering and even researched to see online casino slot clubs, but didn't find any. Do you belong to a slot club offline or online? Maybe the free playing bonus represents that for online casino, yet players complain how difficult it is to win playing with bonus.

Do you think online casinos should step up and offer items to consistent low rollers in their platform?
Online casinos got their own thing going on with VIP programs, free bonuses, and a lot more. I see a lot of online casinos offer stuff that aren't really loyalty programs per se, but almost always acts like one if you'll ask me. For instance, VIP programs on some online casinos offer the same benefits as one would receive had they been added to a live casino's loyalty program. So as of now I do think there's no need for casinos to include some loyalty programs, although soon as the market calls for it, because as we all know, seasons change especially in the gambling industry, I'm pretty sure they'd keep up with it and would include said feature wholeheartedly, but as it stands today, they don't see the need to do so, and would not do it as a result.
1664  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Online Casino Company from Malaysia looking for channels to accept bitcoin on: March 01, 2023, 08:15:50 PM
We are Zeus77, an online casino company from Malaysia that is looking for ways to accept bitcoin or any other crypto currencies as payment. Any advice?
I think your best shot at incorporating crypto payments and prizes in your infrastructure is through formally hiring a blockchain developer that could work with multiple chains. That way you can encompass a large array of tokens and cater towards a larger crypto audience. Game design is also important as I think the best way to introduce a new feature or addition in a gambling site is through incorporating it in a pre-existing or a new game.  With the latter I lean more towards. In any case, if you're looking for a good developer this site has a vast group of competent developer that will help you with your goals.
1665  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is Neither Good or Bad on: March 01, 2023, 06:54:20 PM
Gambling being good or bad is a little subjective to me, and can only be either of the two if some parameters are met, for instance, it could be good if you are only ever using it for entertainment and pleasure. Say you're stressed from the daily hustle and bustle, you go to your local pachinko to maybe let off some steam and inevitably spend a couple dollars in the process. In this situation, gambling could be considered good, it's regarded as a valid pastime, and is no different from you playing a game to relax or watching a movie or two to wind off. Now, it could be bad if you find yourself addicted to it, and are gambling solely for the purpose of winning and earning money. Gambling will more likely burn through your pockets before you could ever bag a win, and that will just create a positive feedback cycle of chasing wins and losing in the process, until you find yourself in an inescapable hole of debt and depression.
1666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hypothetical Question on: February 27, 2023, 07:53:23 PM
If you were told the outcome of a soccer match, hours before the match was scheduled, and you were assured that it would 100% win, how much would you be willing to bet on it? Assuming it was a 100% can’t lose situation.

Assuming you had millions of dollars that you could put on the match, where would you place the bets? Bookies often limit players. How could one successfully place millions of dollars in bets without drawing up suspicions or having their money frozen? Just curious.
Save for the blatant fraud that you're clearly participating, I think your best bet is to create multiple accounts all with different portions of that 1 million dollars, all betting on the same team, at different intervals so as to not arouse suspicion. If this is a live sporting event you're betting on and you are looking to bet on live bookies as well, hiring people you can trust with the money is a good thing too, just make sure they come in and place their bets at different time intervals, to ensure that you are not raising anyone's suspicion.

Although personally, match fixing takes the fun out of betting, especially if you're gambling for entertainment. You already know who's going to win, so most likely you will have to bet on the winning team, otherwise you are a dumbass for betting on the losing team knowing who's going to win in the first place.

1667  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: February 27, 2023, 07:13:33 PM
Money and education which one of these is advisable to achieve?
They constantly say education is the key to success but in my country today many graduates don't have a job, and most of them are still fed by their parents, and that's not the way it's supposed to be.
And again they also said money is potency and fondness. Yes, money is power even if you are not a graduate or you haven't been to college before and you have the money you can even employ a graduate to work for you.
Presently now in my wonderful fatherland NIGERIA 🇳🇬 I can see the power of money.
Please any advice?
Why would you choose between one of those when you can have both? It's all about being resourceful. I myself wasn't allowed to take in full-time, not even part-time jobs when I was studying, since I live in an Asian household and the notion that education is the most powerful tool you can use to fight poverty is really strong in our culture. But I digress, during those times I was dead broke, until I realize I can make money out of my talent which is writing academic papers for people. That's what really got me by til College when I was outrightly allowed by my relatives and caretakers to take in a job.

The point I'm trying to make is that you shouldn't seclude yourself to only one option when the opportunities around you allows for both to be achieved, albeit with some effort.
1668  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is for the important things on: February 27, 2023, 05:40:43 PM
Have you checked your attitude towards money lately? What is "your dream"?  bigger home, a bigger car, private schools, branded drink, gold?...

Money for for things that are important in life: you family, your people, health, well being, ... Do not be afraid to spend the money on your people when they really need it, but be wary of spending it on stupid things and if you think your car and your clothes are important, you may want to start thinking if you have any significant goal in life and where does it get you in the next 10 years.
There's this great guy that I used to look up to, who in his old and frail days told something so profound I still think about it sometimes. "Money is meant to be spent", is what he says. Simple but holds so much value. You only have one life to live, don't spend it sitting in front of the desk working all your life and yourself to death. Not saying you should be a bum and forget about everything in exchange for experience, I'm saying you should look outward, find other sources of income that would allow you to have more freedom. That way, you can go out there and take yourself to adventures and experiences you have never seen. Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency industry as it stands today is a prime candidate for a venture that you might wanna try to expand your career and profit choices. Do yourself a favor.
1669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first pizza purchase using Bitcoin in lightning network on: February 26, 2023, 08:47:19 PM
5 years ago or February 25, 2018 was the first pizza purchase using Bitcoin in lightning network by Laszlo Hanyecz, that's make me interested for me to buy a pizza using Bitcoin in lightning network too. Then I search a pizza restaurant which accept Bitcoin payment, however they only accept Bitcoin on-chain network. Actually I can just pay it since I have Bitcoin on-chain network, but I take a challenge for only pay in lightning network. Surprisingly they're still don't know the existence of lightning network, it took me for 10-15 minutes to explain them and ask to install a lightning network wallet e.g. Bluewallet since this wallet is really easy to use.

So I ordered a pizza with black olive topping, it's cost for $6 or 25,740 Satoshis. When I have pay it, they're quite shocking because the fee is very very low. After that, they saying they have a plan to accept Bitcoin in lightning network payment because it will help the customer to not get charged for higher fees and they do get the same benefit too.

Have you ever bought a pizza using Bitcoin in lightning network? Wink

You have cajones of steel for imploring the store to adjust upon your preferred payment method OP, not that it's a bad thing. Glad that you were able to try purchasing stuff or services using bitcoin yourself which is something that I wouldn't see myself doing because of the fact that I'm afraid of ever spending bitcoins outright. In any case, things like these are what makes the adoption we are looking for happen in the real world. Not fancy seminars, not big name projects that uses bitcoin's popularity to cash in and rob people of their hard-earned money. Small-time businesses and/or close to people enterprises that allow bitcoin payments for services and products they offer are what would really drive this adoption to happen.
1670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How somebody can prove that my wallet belong to him? on: February 26, 2023, 07:22:51 PM
What if i catched some mot****er, who is using one of my wallets - how can i prove that it's mine?  Angry Angry
Signing a message is something on their wallets is something that people have been doing since bitcoin's public release. This is also the reason why we found out whose wallets are of Satoshi Nakamoto's ownership, because he signs a message on his wallets. In any case, there are also a few other techniques that other users employ like keeping timestamps of their wallet's age and other stuff. But all of these are really dependent on what wallet type you use. There are multiple ways really. And you can also employ multiple methods at the same time. I myself sign messages on my wallet and also keep track of transactions.
1671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 13 years ago Theymos sold 160btc at $0.003 per 1, lowest price ever recorded on: February 26, 2023, 05:39:19 PM
All of these stories about the Laszlo's, Martti Malmi's, and all the people who bought things with a lot of BTC, or converted a lot of BTC for a small amount of fiat are all part of BTC's history, they are the people who helped to promote BTC when it was just newly created, there should be no regret about what they did just because BTC's price is now were it is today, if those people probably didn't do what they did, maybe BTC would not be what it is today.

What about Gavin Andresen who gave out free BTC to people, reading all these stories about these Legends gives chills and it could even make one hooked into BTC, history is very important, and all of these contributed to BTC's history, so people should not think they regret what they did, or make it a sad story, because it isn't, it is history, BTC's history to enjoy.
Exactly. If not for these people seeing profit or at usage for bitcoin in a time when people don't even consider digital payments is just something, even if they did all these as a joke, bitcoin wouldn't be where it was right now. I don't think Theymos would have any regrets/qualms about selling that much bitcoin in a time when it's cheaper than the newspaper. It's only fair, bitcoin has to have its own colorful history that led it to here otherwise it would look like a sham or a laundering project. In any case, I find fun and excitement for the future, 10+ years ago this was bitcoin, a decade or so from now, what would bitcoin become? How high will it get? What would the public's disposition towards it gonna be? Just a lot of exciting implications.
1672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 13 years ago Theymos sold 160btc at $0.003 per 1, lowest price ever recorded on: February 25, 2023, 07:15:16 PM
Aww man that is one for the history books, and have one of the pillars of this forum be the star of it too makes me feel some pride inside lmao in any case, I don't think Theymos made the wrong decision with selling 160 btc at the time. As he said, he believed it was overpriced from the pricepoint it was sitting at back then and had the right and justifiable idea to sell those bitcoins. For all we know bitcoin could've went south and he may have won big from that profit. I'm getting off to a tangent here but the point I'm trying to make is that to someone living in let's say 2009-2010, bitcoin is nothing like the bitcoin we are seeing and investing in now. To the people back then it was nothing, not worth more than the lint in your pocket, and basically just another penny stock you can invest in.
1673  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have any financial regrets ? on: February 25, 2023, 06:38:14 PM
My only regret is holding myself back on some risks that would've taken me to greater profits now. I'm a small-shot like everybody else years ago, at least I assume, until I stumbled upon cryptocurrency and bitcoin. Through the years I was able to grow my portfolio and bag some considerable amount of profits along the way, but that doesn't mean I didn't encounter issues along the way. Loss of profits, hacks, scams, and loss of potential profits due to not taking enough risks were a few of the regrets I hold myself against even to this day. But ultimately, just because you regret something doesn't mean you'd let yourself be stuck in there forever, we should always be dynamic and moving towards greater things. Don't let regret and self-pity hold you back.
1674  Economy / Economics / Re: Rules of Taxes on: February 25, 2023, 05:39:29 PM
In my country, we pretty much have the same standard tax systems as you guys, with exception on the Sin Tax, coz here in the Philippines there's a high tariff placed over vices like drinking, and smoking, well those two only anyway. Before Sin Tax, a cigarette here costs less than a penny, you can literally buy a whole pack for a dollar and fifty. After Sin tax, prices soared and you're very lucky now if you could buy half a pack for the same aforementioned $1.50 price point. This Tax is well-meaning, as it aims to stop people from subscribing to these vices but it failed to consider the fact that once you picked up the habit, not even the price will really stop you. There's a reason why crackheads will literally sell their houses off brick by brick to get a fix.
1675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My $300 bet won $417,000 on: February 25, 2023, 04:40:39 PM
Hi guys,

If you followed my previous topic about how I turned over a million dollars plus with no bonus from the sportsbook (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5434831.msg61599879#msg61599879) you may be interested in this thread.

I closed my account with the above sportsbook and was going through my account history and found this bet I placed two years ago.

I spent many hours researching and selected 19 legs that I liked. I placed $300 and collected $417,000. I only chose sports that I have a high knowledge of and tried to bet with no emotion. The first match was a rugby game on the 18th of September 2020 and the last match was a futures bet for Kansas City Chiefs to win their conference and make the Super Bowl on the 18th of January 2021. I told a group of my friends to copy my bet but they were impatient and didn't want to wait four months. Only one of my friends followed my bet and he placed $100 which won him just under $140,000. I live in Australia so a lot of the matches were Australian Rugby games.

The bet was originally worth $686,000 but Niko Price could only manage a draw against Donald Cerrone (after having a point deducted for a BS accidental eye poke) so the UFC match was voided and my winnings decreased to $417,000.

I find sometimes it is best to place future bets instead of match bets if you can find some value.

I have a few similar bets which won $644,000 and $258,000 so I will try to find them and post it shortly.

Always remember to only bet what you can afford to lose and gamble responsibly.  Smiley Smiley

Judging by how you're keeping at this certain trend, I would assume you somehow cracked a few codes in the system that will allow you to win high stakes like these. In any case I congratulate you because $400000 bucks isn't an amount to scoff at, especially when you consider the fact that it came from $300. That's like the greatest deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever! Lmao. Kiddings aside, if you could give the people a little insider scoop at how you normally carry out sports bet that bag you wins like these you'd do the whole forum a solid. If you can't, that's fine too! This child board needs a few success stories every now and then to wash off the palate from all the negative news in this spot of the forum.
1676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game that you suffer consistent losses but still keep playing? on: February 24, 2023, 08:57:27 PM
There's two ways to look at it, all based on what your outlook is regarding gambling. Are you someone into gambling because you see it as an avenue of profit? Or are you into gambling because you wanna have fun? If your answer is the former, then that explains why you think you "suffer" with every loss you incur. Which is a bad mentality that will only push you to fall into addiction. If the latter was your answer, and you're gambling to have fun and unwind, I think it's safe to say you have a more positive outlook in life and you don't take these things seriously, thus you are less likely to feel devastated after every loss and therefore less likely to revenge gamble.

I used to play a lot of Baccarat and slots back then and would blow all my monthly allowance in one sitting. But once I changed my approach, things became very different for me.
1677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you keep your gambling habit under control? on: February 24, 2023, 07:46:26 PM
Just to quote that monkey from Bojack Horseman. “Every day it gets a little easier… But you gotta do it every day — that's the hard part. But it does get easier.” If you put yourself into discipline mode and follow through with it as much as possible, you're already halfway there.

As for the matter of what method I used to ensure I don't get addicted from gambling, I call this the "three-method", I saw someone from this forum talk about this too, and I employed it to my gambling discipline. So far, it has worked so well for me that it allowed me to not be addicted to gambling even after years have passed. In any case, the three method is just easy. You basically just stop gambling for the day or for a set amount of time, when you hit three wins or three losses. That way, you can bag whatever wins you accumulated during that run, or if you're not that lucky, you could ensure your losses are mitigated.

I wish to say a very big thank you for providing this valuable content, but I wish it was original, because from research I got to observed you just copy and paste from online and yet failed to provide link to where you got this article from. So I will suggest you add link to this thread O.P, as it is 20% plagiarize and 80% unique.

I agree. It would've been nice if the content is original or at least provided credits where it is due, but oh well. I think the message is still as important as it was if the original guy posted it instead. In any case, I don't really think this is something that a gambler with half a mind would do. Most sane gamblers out here will always study the rules of the game they are playing before jumping in and playing, and honestly this is the first time I have heard someone imply that there are stupidfucks out there who gamble without prior knowledge about the game they are playing. Oh well, It's a postulate and a common sense that everyone be aware of what they are getting into, especially if it involves money like investing and gambling. If you fail to do this alone, you should reconsider your life choices.
1679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Favorite Play’n Go Games and Experience on: February 23, 2023, 09:01:26 PM
Oh man this takes me a a while back lmao. My two go-to Play N Go games when I was still so big on slots are Rise of Olympus and Legacy of the dead. Nothing really big that drove me to choose those games, just the fact that both are visually appealing to me in some type of way and I feel lucky everytime I play on those slots. I came to even recommend these games to some of my friends who were getting into casual and profit gambling as well for a time because of how I loved these games. You'd come to realize that Play n Go almost has complete control over the amount of Slot games that are being released today, but those legacy games are still the best for me because at least they're putting in real effort in making games like Rise of Olympus and Legacy of the Dead visually appealing.
1680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting strategy question on: February 23, 2023, 08:23:27 PM
It's fair enough afterall what's betting without risk and this isn't a bad offer afterall. I'll take it, but I think I'll bet just 5% of my value and in 10 payrolls I should have gotten a good return to carry me through the next round.
5% is too little to risk since you wanted to pursue your gambling career, maybe better at least 10%? that is fair and  valuable enough to charge and boost your momentum .
10 payrolls? then that ia a long way to happen lol.

I will do what I think is necessary to gamble and that is risk management of course.
It's better to stay low in gambling because there is no guarantees that we can win here. Betting small is the only way to last long in the game. This is perfect if our goal is to enjoy and past the time. When he say payrolls I don't think he mean payroll of a job but he is still referring to the rolls in gambling.

10 rolls is not that long to achieve especially for a fast game like dice. In conclusion, gambling should not be treated as a kind of career due to its nature but unless if you are a professional gambler already or the ones that are being sponsored and plays on the tournaments, if not then you should only treat it as a kind of a hobby like what most of us are doing now.
I'm all about the small bets when it comes to gamblin. As a sports bettor myself, I always gotta remind myself not to go nuts and stick to my budget. Its so easy to get caught up in the moment, but a reel baller knows when to cashout. One little trick I got is to keep it interesting without breakin' the bank by placing small bets on crazy long-shot outcomes. You know what I'm sayin? Like, I might throw down on some team with crazy odds to win it all, just for the kicks. Its a little game that can pay of bigg time if the stars align. But remember, homie, gamblin's all about the fun and games, not about makin' a livin'. So let's roll the dice and enjoy the ride!!!!
That's actually smart my guy. I think you just hit the sweet balance between balling and having fun while gambling. And since you're not really big on winning given the fact that you yourself said it was all for the kicks, it's a great way to ease off tension and basically have the most fun out of betting and gambling. If you win that's great, you get to ball out and shit, if you don't, that's fine, odds aren't in your favor anyway so it doesn't really hurt to see it plop down the drain, plus it's just small bets so it doesn't hurt your pockets at the same time but the turnaround profits if you win is just *chef's kiss*. really smart man, I like that. I may incorporate a rendition of that with my own signature thing in my future bets, just because it sounded cool and funny too.
