I've been prompted to use Casascious's 3-of-2 escrow utility (not too sure of the naming here) after someone asked what is preventing me to do a runner apart from my rep. Now to familiarize myself with this...
Here: http://www.bitescrow.org/Can be used offline. And the instructions on the page will be enough for you to understand how it works. Nah, I'm using the sources from Casascious himself just to be safe. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Okay here is an update on the escrow idea suggested on the 2nd page of this thread.
In essence, yes, we will happily do that however, what we would prefer is to do an escrow payment for the first 5 ASIC rigs when we are ready and able to ship them to customers.
This basically means that nobody wanting to order one of our ASIC systems has to tie bitcoin funds up prematurely and also, does not put us in the position of tying peoples funds up and having unexpected further delays, thus being labeled 'scammers' further on the boards due to delays, like what is currently happening with BFL by many individuals.
So yes, the first 5 people in this thread to post they would like to utilize the escrow suggestion, we will definitely honor that, once our ASIC Rigs are ready and able to be shipped to customers so long as John K is alright with that and the fees for using him as escrow aren't ridiculous.
Our only real stipulation is that we ask the escrow payments ONLY be used by individuals on BitcoinTalk that are established, well-known on this forum and will actively verify the rigs do work and also post a review of them on this very forum in detail.
I have been alerted by wachtwoord to this thread. I'm willing to act as the escrow for a flat 1.5% fee here, considering that this is a commercial transaction. Please drop me a PM when you need my services. Oh, and before I forget - I only do pure BTC escrow here to lessen the transfer fees and hassle involved. I will not hold PayPal/Wire unless I decide otherwise.

Only 1 bump per day is allowed per person. This is your last and first warning.

They are only 300MH/s (as I keep saying)
Even 1000 of them is only 300GH/s ... i.e. you need 3,333 of them to just reach 1TH/s So unless ASICMINER is suddenly able to produce a lot more that 1000 of them, it wont make much impact on the network (they are slower than most typical current hardware used by anyone but noobs)
Friedcat's probably aiming for selling these as a novelty item - kind of like the small plastic keychain cameras or 'spy gadgets' you can buy at tourist spots.

Are you in the US? Would you send first and take a personal check from me? (Assume for the sake of this question that you can adequately determine my trustworthiness and be comfortable that you won't get scammed, and that I'm willing to give you a digitally signed promise to pay you)
Trade with Mike if you want - he's about one of the most repped guy in this forum.

I would recommend John for this service. The only other person I would recommend (off the top of my head) to do the same is Rassah. SERIOUSLY!!!
Good luck, John, with this endeavor.
Full Disclosure: I only read the first couple posts of this thread.

Just used John K as escrow with a deal with Bogart. Both were very accomodating, friendly, and knowledgable. A small token of appreciation is being sent to John K as I type this. Thanks!
Thanks again for everything! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

The more these things happen and the longer it takes to confirm transactions the more it seems Bitcoin is just one generation in an evolutionary process and that the next generation will keep and improve what's good and address the not-so-good stuff.
Nah, blame Mt.Gox not Bitcoin for that..

Cancel this John. Guy flaked out or was a scammer didn't provide proof of life and didn't get back to me after last email regarding using you as an escrow. (posted here as I can't find the other guy's nick here)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1
The escrow address for sceneboss (Mark)(the seller) and Bicknellski's(the buyer) transaction would be:
1KeFhfELAgm3q48bWKE85LJzxV3G5kdHe6
Please state and agree to the conditions (if item is received damaged, item lost with tracking, customs fee etc) beforehand.
If possible, GPG sign your agreement to prevent any discrepancies later on and please ship with tracking to prevent problems during delivery. GPG signing is not a requirement, and any verbal exchange in the form of private messages or posts on bitcointalk.org, or email is effective as a ‘statement of condition’.
The fine print: This Contract is solely generated for the purpose of facilitating the transaction between the seller and the buyer, which refers to the pseudonyms used on bitcointalk.org. The escrow holder, John, assumes and gives no liability or guarantees on the satisfaction of all parties involved, although he agrees to mediate and facilitate the deal to the fullest extent he is capable of. On the event that any problems arises, he will release the escrow to whichever party that presents him with the most convincing proof and/or after an open discussion with others or theymos. The verbal acceptance by both parties (or the failure to reject) and the sending of Bitcoins to the escrow address above constitutes the acceptance of the terms and conditions stated, and the activation of this Contract.
Please understand that I am doing this partly as a community service for members, I am assuming the risk of holding the escrowed Bitcoins, and I am using my own time to facilitate this transaction. If it does not represent a burden to do so, please tip me at 1NB1KFnFqnP3WSDZQrWV3pfmph5fWRyadz .
Thank you.

Note to self: WTF I ALMOST GOT CLEANED 14 BTC.

On my trust/rep issue: I'll take them both.
John, you're a mod here, and acting as escrow, so you'll be the one holding my money and receiving his machine? That's a lot of value in your hands, and while the only reason I feel comfortable even talking about this transaction is because you are involved I would need some personal details to know who I am actually dealing with here.
If that's not out of line, and the seller agrees we can move forward.
300 BTC is a fair price for 2 pre-orders for B2.
Since the Avalon owner is also a member of this forum I'd politely hope he would verify the orders and such.
I'm only holding the deposit at the moment for his transaction, as stated above. As per my rep here, I've been doing escrow for some time already. I'm currently holding over 2k BTC of others funds, the greatest being 1k BTC of the forum for an indefinite period of time, and others from various members here. I've lost count of how much funds that have passed through my hands so far, but a few large-sized transaction that I can make public here is a 2200 BTC TX some weeks ago ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=141672.msg1568855#msg1568855) , and multiple large-sized AM share auctions like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=144574.0 . I have a thread here too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=141672I don't really keep a ledger of my escrows as it would eat up too much time to do so, but I generally escrow 2-3 transactions daily. As for security: So everyone's asking me how I store escrow funds - I store them in Offline Armory with the seed backed up in encrypted paper wallets in multiple places including but not limited to a bank vault and lawyer's safe.
As always, please do your homework before choosing an escrow (or even sending coins in general!), so feel free to do your own research and stuff before choosing to trust me or not. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

question in the subject.
This means MtGox is working on it, if I remember correctly bitcointalk is hosted on their servers. Actually I'm pretty sure the forum moved to another server, but it used to be on Gox servers. I'm not entirely sure, however. Hosting provided by Private Internet Access, a Bitcoin-accepting VPN.
