how does a fixed-price auction work? First N people bidding 50 blades win ?
Yes, but friedcat might add new blades for the sale, hence the continuation.  Smiley

1645  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Fixed-Price Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades on: May 11, 2013, 10:05:56 AM
Please keep the bids coming - friedcat may just be selling additional units out!  Grin

cool  !  i hope im still in the race

Yep, keep your hopes up!  Smiley There's still chance that friedcat might sell 100 or even 200 blades!

Can you add me as well, or is it too late?

More orders at this point will be added to a pending list, and of friedcat decides to sell more blades you'll be notified when the auction closes.  Smiley
1647  Economy / Auctions / Re: ASICMINER Fixed-Price Auction: 50 Block Erupter Blades on: May 11, 2013, 09:53:12 AM
Extend it to 100. 100 is a much nicer number than 50.  Cheesy

If at all extend to 88. Chinese love the 8. It's the universal lucky number.

Ok, 88 is still better than 50 and works for me.

Friedcat, do you hate Europe?  Angry  What's up with making this so limited and at 4AM CET?

Make it 88 or 100 pretty please  Cheesy

Keep the bids coming - friedcat may just sell moar blades!  Smiley
1648  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: May 11, 2013, 09:52:43 AM
Hi there, do you just hold the coins and when payment is received you release coins? I have a seller complaining that its not a safe escrow for him as I could claim I've sent payment, photoshop a bank statement and I'd be trusted over him, as he is a new member.

Anyway I can reassure him?

Either he doesn't know how escrow works or he is trying to scam you.

If escrow is used, only the escrow, not you, will be the reliable source of confirmation whether or not the funds have been sent.

Oops, sorry for missing this just now. Yes, all sides will be required to provide the proof requested of during an arbitration process. I only make my decisions via proof and proof alone.

1654  Bitcoin / Important Announcements / Vircurex.com and Cryptostocks.com compromised. on: May 11, 2013, 02:05:00 AM
http://vircurex.com/

Quote
The systems Vircurex.com and Cryptostocks.com have been taken offline over the weekend
Please do not deposit any further coins to your Vircurex accounts. We must assume that the wallet has been compromised.

Please do not further deposit any coins with to Vircurex or Cryptostocks. At this point in time we need to assume a compromise of the wallet.

We will update this post once we have finished our investigation.

PS: As to the coins: All fiat currency accounts are accounted for, the vast majority of the coins are stored in cold wallets and thus are safe.

After investigating the security breach we have to come to the conclusion that the attacker has been able to get root access to the systems.

Therefore we need to assume that the wallets might have been copied, thus DO NOT deposit funds. Everyone will be getting a new set of addresses.

Next course of action:
 - we will setup a complete set of servers
 - setup a fresh set of wallets for the coins
 - recover the funds from our cold wallets to ensure ongoing service.

If all goes well the system should be up and running in less than 24 hours.

1656  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Joshter - Be Careful / Uses fake John K contracts and User account - on: May 11, 2013, 01:58:29 AM
Wouldn't this all be avoided if people just verify the GPG signature?

Unfortunately, a lot of people are retarded.

^ Dat true. And some are so retarded that they didn't even verify if the PM were sent directly to them by me....  Undecided

Please, I want this feature goddamnit.  Sad
I can't imagine what would happen if my account were compromised. This is about the last non-trivial site that I don't have 2FA on, and yet it has the most potential of causing damage to me and everyone.
