2641  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Batch 3 is finally shipping - AT LEAST 48 Th coming online soon on: July 26, 2013, 01:06:36 PM
600 units @ at least 80Gh each = at least 48 Th of Avalons

This is assuming every unit is a 3 module version. As we all know, there were many 4 module versions purchased aswell.

I have received tracking info for the following order numbers from Avalon Batch 3:
#4753 ; #7365; #7577; #9038; #9150; #9345

Current network speed: 231.03 Th

I'm estimating at least a %40 network speed increase in the next 14-30 days.

(25% from Avalon batch 3; 5% from BFL; 10% ASICMINER)

Wow.. I can't believe it.

I just received shipping info for my orders, all 4 module batch 3 Avalons:
#7365
#9038
#9150
#7577
#9345
#4753

I'm so excited!!!
2643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Max # Cards for Scrypt Milk Crate Rig? on: July 26, 2013, 06:37:55 AM
I'm not sure where the picture is, but I've seen someone that crammed 8 GPUs, 2 motherboards and two 1200w PSUs in one milk crate.

Although I think the GPUs were sticking out the top, so you wouldn't be able to stack them.
2644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TERRACOIN ATTACK OVER 1.2TH ATTACK CONFIRMD on: July 26, 2013, 04:55:45 AM
TRC has multiple real ASIC miners on it already. This isn't an issue of an ASIC coming in and rocking the boat. It's some sort of timewarp attack where the attacker gets to use a 5K difficulty but the rest of us use a far higher one and can't possibly compete...

Ah, I haven't been keeping up with this attack. I just assumed it was a standard 51% attack.

I should probably read the thread before posting.  Wink

Still waiting for Avalon to finish up their "burn in" testing...

I guess I can just kiss our 700+ BTC goodbye...

Avalon = scammers
Today is last working day of the 2 weeks for batch#3 machines shipment that Avalon claimed in latest newsletter.
Reality is only few machines which are batch#2 design were shipped. Most of batch#3 customers still waiting for their machines and refunds.
What they have done and they are doing are asking people to paste a scammer label on them.

Getting the hardware now is no good, we won't make back the BTC we paid for it. If they had delivered it in the time frame they said they would when refunds were offered, then this wouldn't be a problem.

Getting a refund now is no good for me, some people payed 2x what I payed for the equipment for a share in the funds mined. A refund would solve my problems, but then a lot of people that have done business with me or group buy participants would be screwed.

The only way Avalon could make it up to me in my mind would be shipping me an extra "free" unit. I kind of think the chances of this happening are very slim. Avalon and company do not seem like nice people. They ignore us and leave us in the dark for months on end, while we are left to guess the status of our overdue orders.

I'm so glad there are other options to buy ASICs popping up because I am never ordering from Avalon ever again. I would rather sell the equipment than trade it in for their newer generation (seeing how they are treating trade-in customers, this is probably the best move).

I am so frustrated, this whole situation is so stressful for me. I wish Avalon would be men of their words. I remember at the Bitcoin conference, Bitsyncom was treated like a king. So many people were kissing his ass as if he was some kind of hero. I wonder if those same people are now cursing him as they wait for their batch 1/2/3/trade in machines...
2646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TERRACOIN ATTACK OVER 1.2TH ATTACK CONFIRMD on: July 26, 2013, 04:29:16 AM
Poor Terracoin... SHA256 ALTs are going to be seeing some troubling times as ASICs become more widespread.

However, I think over time that this will decrease. As less power efficient ASICs become unprofitable on Bitcoin, ASIC owners will be looking for another way to use their machines other than as a paper weight. I predict most of these people will switch to SHA256 ALTs, which will greatly increase the network speed and help to fight off attacks such as this.

The above mentioned movement is akin to the Bitcoin ASICs moving the GPU power over to Scrypt coins. It is just another inevitable step in the evolution of mining hardware and crypto currencies.

It will be interesting to find out if I am right, but I predict at least one SHA256 ALT to really become popular like Litecoin once certain ASICs start becoming unprofitable on Bitcoin. Which one will be the lucky winner? That's anyone guess, I am thinking a new SHA256 coin will come out in the next year or so that will blow all the others out of the water. Hopefully it is one that is innovative and brings something positive to the world of ALT coins. All the current SHA-256 ALTs are not very innovative IMO.

ITEM #2: 1 Troy oz 999 Fine Silver 25 LTC Lealana Litecoin

Also I am offering a 1 troy oz silver 25 LTC Lealana Litecoin as seen below. There is no cap on orders for this item as well. Capsule, COA, and black single-coin leatherette are included.

PRICE (1 oz): 63 LTC or 1.98BTC each

BULK PRICING (20 coins):  1,134 LTC  or 35.64 BTC

Okay, so....

Using an average of $2.7 usd per ltc.

To get a set of twenty coins in one ounce.

25 ltc * 20 coins = 500 ltc
20 oz silver * 20 usd per oz. = $400 usd divided by 2.7 per ltc = 148 ltc

648 ltc total in silver and litecoins for a profit to smoothie of 486 ltc/$1312 USD per 20 coins

OR $65.61 usd/ 24.6 ltc profit per coin.

Sorry I'll just buy generic silver at these insane prices.

tl;dr

I support smoothie in the beginning.  But for these prices I can mint my own.  He coins aren't collectible yet and at these prices I don't ever see them as collectable.

g/l

Hi,

I agree the prices are too high, $65+ profit per coin is slightly absurd (that's $65,000 usd after selling all 1000 coins.) Since I was going to make my own coins, I know how much it costs to make these and I can confirm he is making a healthy profit. However, he basically has no competition so he can charge whatever he wants. I am slightly saddened that I gave up my project and now Smoothie can set whatever price he wants. Perhaps I will pick up my physical Litecoin project back up in the near future and force Smoothie to come down on his prices.

I too would love to own one of these, but not at these prices. In comparison, I was going to charge about $15 profit per coin... Smoothie is at about $65+. He can no longer say he's doing it for the good of Litecoin, because he is doing it for the $$$.

My two satoshis, I expect this to be deleted soon...

what are ppl planning on doing with them after the difficulty makes them worthless next year?

Mine SHA256 ALT coins and pray they gain traction.  Cheesy
I should think most of the SHA256 ALT coins can be successfully 51% attacked and thus destroyed with these Avalons. I expect the alt-coins to gravitate to Scrypt simply out of sheer survival.

Well, that's the only option after these are unprofitable. The only other use for them would be to part it out or use it as a paper weight.

Re: sha256 alts being unstable: I think as asics get cheaper and old gen basics become unprofitable, they will switch over and protect sha256 coins. Kind of how Basic moved all the GPUs to scrypt. This is obviously purely speculation.

I don't particularly find any of the sha256 alts interesting, but who's to say they won't gain in value over time, it is anyone's guess. Or perhaps a new sha256 coin will come out that is actually a benefit to bit coin.

How come you didn't ask for a refund then?

Because they said they were shipping two weeks ago and it would have easily made ROI and a little profit if they delivered it when they said they would?

I'm not sure if I'm being trolled, but you are cute.  Smiley

Good luck with your start up!

We have one girl here at BitGo... actually it's me, the author of our bitcointalk posts - and I use BTC  Smiley

What's BitGo?

BitGo is a startup that hasn't launched yet: http://www.bitgo.com/

I must say that is the funnest coming soon web page I've ever visited.

It also sparked my interest as to what exactly the start up's services are, so I will stay tuned.

PS: I'm not just saying that because you're a girl. About half of my previous post in this thread was just me joking around.. I am not looking for an online girlfriend rofl.  Grin
2654  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC Batch 3 [CLOSED- Seven 4 module Avalons ordered] on: July 24, 2013, 08:35:38 PM
Due to recent news in the Bitcoin world regarding Bitcoin securities operating in the USA and how that pertains to the SEC, I am locking this thread for the time being in an effort to "stay off the radar." If I need to do that or not and the legalities of everything are up for debate. I think I am a small fish in a big pond, but better safe than sorry and I do not want to take any chances. I am acquiring legal counsel to determine the best way forward from here.

All group buy members should have registered on our forums by now and been granted posting privileges. If you haven't done so, please sign up for the forums and PM Relm9 for posting privileges here: http://www.yourcoins.org/forums/

I would like to thank you all for choosing me to do your business with, I know you could of ordered from anyone else's group buy and I am flattered that you all have chosen mine. I am truly sorry about the Avalon delays, but I remain optimistic that they will pull a rabbit out of their hats and come through for us. If the equipment looks like it will not make ROI by the time we receive it, or if Avalon continues to delay and ignore us or give us no partial refund or anything, I will be filing a lawsuit against Avalon on behalf of all group buy members. I will not let them walk all over us, I am very serious about this.

Thanks again for your support and business. I hope you all are well, and that we will make a little profit from this venture.

Sincerely,

Ch

Hm, a lot of sexism ITT.

I for one am a big fan of the ladies. Girl power FTW!

I would love to have a Bitcoin enthusiast as my "partner in crime". Cool girls like that are hard to come across though I suppose. Actually, there are a lot of cool girls but the cool ones are usually unattractive. I am in shape and wouldn't consider myself ugly by any means, so I feel like I deserve to find a cool & attractive girl.  Wink

PS: Ladies hit me up. We can go on an e-date, I will buy you e-flowers and send you a follow up post-date e-greeting card filled with sweet nothings. I can be your Bitcoin sugar daddy!  Cheesy Grin

*rushes to Ebay to sell his remaining block erupter USBs before news about the price decrease surfaces*

Is that unethical lol? IMO business is business, gotta eat somehow.  Smiley

Is that premature? Yes.

The only people that would create a price decrease where these are sold for fiat, is us.

What do you mean premature?

You think that they will not drop the prices soon like the speculators are saying?

Have you looked at those links providing the sources in chinese? Using google translate, it seems that the chinese store is already selling USB miners for .6 BTC as I type this. Surely they wouldn't sell them for .6 BTC unless they could profit off of them at that price, no? Therefore it leads me to believe that the speculation of the price decrease is very real and coming soon.

Avalon has turned into BFL.

"We're shipping next week honestly, for real, surely, we promise!" - Avalon

Two weeks later:

*only ships a few units just to "prove" they're shipping and to calm the masses*'

I think its time we form a Group Funded law suit or Class Action Law suit against Avalon.  I bet there will be lawyers that would be willing to charge nothing unless they win the case as well.  Perhaps its time to start a new thread about this.  Maybe this will be the way to get Yifu to actually start taking the business seriously.

I'm not quite there yet and honestly do not want to go that route just yet.

I know I have mentioned legal recourse as a possible option, but I'd like to give Avalon some time to give them a chance to make it up to us somehow.

Obviously if they continue to delay and ignore us, then this will be our only option and I will be all for it.
2660  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: July 24, 2013, 02:27:30 PM
Where is the Avalon crew? We need answers..

Many batch 1/2/3 machines have not shipped and Avalon is silent. Trade in customers and refunds being ignored swell...

Batch 3 will not even make ROI due to all the delays. I feel like some sort of compensation for the customers that have had ROI demolished because of Avalon's incompetence is in order.

At this point, Avalon are scammers IMO.
