26461  Other / Meta / Re: Banning Newbies from requesting loans? on: July 17, 2016, 08:35:42 AM
How do you want to enforce this? Give Mods more work?

Here is a radical suggestion. Ban all Bitcoin loans.
We're all (supposed to be) adults. And even if we're not adults, it's a good life lesson to learn with small mistakes before you make big mistakes.
If someone wants to give out a loan, that's entirely their own decision and risk. I've never loaned or borrowed Bitcoins and I don't plan to do so, but if someone else wants to, let them!

Plus, the loan-topics and Trust with it are great to read while eating popcorn!
26462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What you always do after you lose in Gambling? on: July 17, 2016, 08:32:31 AM
My first reaction used to be going all-in to chase losses and "win it back". That didn't end well a few times.
My latest approach is to withdraw all when I'm losing to limit my losses.
Chasing losses is irrational: if you could "win it back", why didn't you do that in the first place? After losing your chances are still the same as when you started.
26463  Economy / Digital goods / Re: BUYING THEBOT.NET ACCOUNT on: July 17, 2016, 08:30:02 AM
I have an account for years now, but recently they changed it to "New Member" and I have limited access (what's up with that?!).
I don't use it anymore, so if you want it you can change the username to something else than Loyce for 5.00 USD.
26464  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: July 16, 2016, 08:52:13 PM
Does anyone know if the vanity pool website is still operational and paying for solving various work? Is it legit? i thought i read a thread a while back that it was stealing private keys or something? Or was this a different website?
The pool is not stealing anything, it uses split keys.
The one that's stealing addresses is also advertising it big in his signature on bitcointalk. He mainly posts in threads that don't show his -8 Red Trust, so he is probably still making new victims up to now. (I think it would be good if bitcointalk shows Trust-ratings in all topics).

if you are unlucky, it can take 6.2 years.
If you're unlucky, you may never find it!
26465  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] Rollin.io Signature & Avatar Campaign on: July 16, 2016, 07:44:32 PM
Thanks guitarplinker!

You may have noticed I have a lot of "Disqualified Posts" lately, as I'm running the Rollin Lotttery Tickets promotion. Sorry for giving you more work counting posts Cheesy
26466  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: July 16, 2016, 11:50:00 AM
AFAIK core also has this functionality (I hope).
I can confirm this, I've used it to use a vanity address as stake here.

Blockchain.info can also sign a message with any imported private key.
26467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Memorizing Private Key on: July 15, 2016, 04:49:49 PM
Relying on your memory for a private key sounds to me like a good way to lose your funds.
Why would you even want to? You can store a private way in any format you want, anywhere you want. Write it under your car seat, inside your fridge and on a few more locations. Or much easier: get a BIP38 encrypted key, don't bother about keeping the key secure, just keep your password secure.
There's a topic somewhere with 1 BTC for whoever guesses the 6 digit code! After a year, nobody guessed it. If you make it 8 random digits, it's still a lot easier to remember than a complete private key, and I expect the chance of someone guessing it to be much less likely than the chance of you forgetting a private key from your memory.

26470  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining in 20 years time on: July 13, 2016, 06:11:53 PM
There will be no miners in 20 years because subsidy is to small to pay mining and bitcoin developers don't allow enough on chain transactions to maintain enough mining to keep the network safe, so bitcoin will be irrelevant or forked into POS.

They can always cancel halving in the interim (which is a must-do thing if they want Bitcoin to go on)

The transaction fee is quite high now. It is almost 1 bitcoin at some blocks. In the next few years, it will be even higher.

That is related to block size.
If there is consensus to increase block size, there will be less competition and less transaction fees.

If I get it right, this means that miners are not particularly interested in increasing the block size? In other words, that's the reason (one of) why it hasn't been increased so far?
This is my interpretation too. Miners don't benefit directly from larger blocks. But larger blocks are needed to allow more people to use Bitcoin, and more users will ultimately lead to a higher price, which benefits miners.

Btw is it allowed to sell free lottery tickets?
Tickets are yours. It's totally up to you what you do with them. But what if you sell a winning Ticket?
It would be fun to see Ticket-trading here on Bitcointalk in the Digital Goods section Cheesy

26472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is too slow on: July 13, 2016, 05:07:54 PM
Very seldomly do you have an issue with the transfer not being completed once you get the confirmation that there is a transaction.
That may be "seldomely", but the sender can force it to happen. I can easily send you a payment and double spend it before it confirms. If you didn't wait sending me the thing I paid for, you get nothing.
26473  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach $1000 again or not ? on: July 13, 2016, 05:03:35 PM
Bitcoin will reach 1000 $ before new year. Halving is behind us and if we see same situation like 4 years ago, we can expect price to start rising somewhere in october. I saw that some people here hold coins for that, and their advice is to not sell yet.
I agree completely! Bitcoin went up a lot after the first halving. I don't expect that much after the second halving, because there are more Bitcoins now, and the percentage added with each new block was lower already, but $1000+ this year is very possible.

I can of course be wrong, it can also go down to $50. But I think $2000 is more likely than $50, so that's where I put my money Smiley

26475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most BTC you got on: July 13, 2016, 06:22:50 AM
My biggest win was 250 mBTC on a contest on Rollin.io. I hit Bet ID 1,000,000,137 and won the giveaway contest because I was the second person wagering 50 mBTC after the one billionth bet.
26476  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: ¦¯¦¦¯¦ Rollin.io Free Lottery Tickets ¦¯¦¦¯¦ Daily Giveaway ¦¯¦¦¯¦ 484 mBTC won on: July 12, 2016, 08:47:47 PM
Experimental
Currently Lottery Bot is still experimental. If any problem pops up, please know it's unintentional and we love to hear about it so we can fix it.

I'm just quoting myself, because something came up: User RollinMan bought a lot of Tickets, Lottery now has the highest ever pot: 220 mBTC.
And this broke things... Lottery Bot has a problem handling this many tickets from one user. The Draw has been extended by 1 day, to give madcoin time to fix it.
Sorry for this, but a broken Bot may or may not draw correctly so we prefer to extend it.

Next Draw in 1 day and 12 minutes.

26478  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [Primedice.com] Bingo competition - Win up to 4 BTC each! on: July 12, 2016, 07:05:10 AM
As stated earlier in this thread - if Zoltan and/or me had any doubts that the payouts always happen we wouldn't do the Contests/Giveaways for Primedice in the first place, since we got a reputation to lose.

Congratulations to the winners again! Smiley
Thanks for running the contest, I love hunting these Bingo-numbers Cheesy

For the "delay": I understand it's meant to check for cheaters, which is a good thing! Hunting the cheaters enables PD to keep doing these giveaways.

I would like to suggest to clearly mention it though, to stop people from "worrying". If you're new to a giveaway/site, I can imagine you wonder if they'll pay or not. PD is very clear in stating the end date, which was a month ahead when the contest started. I suggest to add something saying: "payment within 14 days after this date".
