2681  Other / Meta / Re: Combine merit abuse with delete post and you are good to go on: May 07, 2018, 03:05:46 PM
Maybe a solution would be to make impossible to delete a merited post.
Since we are talking about deleted posts on this topic so in my opinion, preventing a post to be deleted when it's already awarded merit by someone - could be a possible solution. You do not need to remove the account. Excessive abused account should be banned when we will have solid evidence. The ban should not be just out of suspicious behaviour.

People should lose the merit if the post is deleted for whatever reason. Allowing it is just ripe for abuse as people can just merit shitposts or posts that are in fact copy and pasted then delete to hide the evidence.
I guess we already know that merit is not removable or reversible. There might be someone in a topic made a real good comment and awarded merit, later the mod thought the topic should be removed (for any reason) means that merit for the good post will also be deleted.
2682  Other / Meta / Re: My idea for automation in recovering stolen accounts on: May 07, 2018, 02:57:04 PM
What if you are not using a valid email address? The forum does not have an email verification feature.

I had a different proposal to automate the same thing. Click here. I have seen similar proposal from another user too. I guess theymos has his own idea, may be he does not want this to be automated or may be he is looking for a better solution.

I heard they are working on new forum software so hopefully we will be seeing a solution for this in the new software.
2683  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust ratings on: May 07, 2018, 01:14:35 PM
I guess you are seeing the rating depending on your personal trust setting. It's different for sure for others. i.e I see green for BayAreaCoins, OgNasty, TMAN.
mprep is the same for me...

I came to a conclusion for myself.

There will be new ways of merit abusing and different tactics/approaches to cover the abuses, on the other hand there will also be good contents those will be genuinely merited for their good works. We just need to accept it and do our best whether in seeking or sharing knowledge.

It's a fact IMO.

Furthermore, merit is doing it's job without any doubt. The amount of nonsense posts/spamming dropped a lot since the merit system introduced.
2685  Other / Meta / Re: What to do with such members ? on: May 07, 2018, 11:43:56 AM
I have no issues if it is one liner or even few words but they are not even relevant. Completely done with some bot in my opinion. How to handle this now ?
Report each and every post with the reference of their post history. I do the same when I see such types of users.
2686  Other / Meta / Re: Poor translation, random word generator or something else? Mod, please review. on: May 07, 2018, 11:09:20 AM
Forget about mod. It does not make sense for me, why the bounty manager is paying the guys LOL
Check his recent post history

2689  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hosting Scam ICO on: May 07, 2018, 10:49:15 AM
Hi! I'm kinda new here. I'd like to ask if what will happened if your ICO/Bounty you are hosting turns out to be a scam? Do you get punished by bitcointalk for hosting a scam?
If you market your project in BitcoinTalk then the owner of the account may get redTrust for advertising a scam project. That's all. In some case, it may not. It has to be noticed by the members especially the DT members.
2690  Other / Meta / Re: Transfer Ownership Of Thread on: May 06, 2018, 10:36:09 PM
Our ANN is currently owned by someone no longer a part of the project.
Contact with that person and advice him to lock the topic or to copy the whole content and to give it to you. You can also give him/her the new topic link so that the other guy can replace the old content with the new link on that topic.

Hope it make sense.

I'm not sure an admin will have enough time to fiddle with changing the ownership of a thread when you chould just lock the old one and make a new one.
I also think the same. So better use the above idea.
2691  Other / Meta / Re: How long does it take to get a hacked account back ??? on: May 06, 2018, 09:01:07 PM
My account has been hacked at 7 Feb. I did what I have to do to get back. I have singed a message with my Bitcoin adress which I posted to account recovery topic. it is 3th month tomorrow . How many months ı need to wait more Huh
Seems like you have tried everything. I think there are no certain time. You need to be more patience unfortunately. Since you have created this topic then why not include your account information as well so that if they notice they can check and resolve the issue. Just a suggestion not sure if it will work or not.
2692  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Non-Hosted server? on: May 06, 2018, 08:53:42 PM
In reference to this quote, what is actually meant by a "non-hosted" server. I'm not familiar with the concept. Does it simply mean a server that is kept locally and turned off most the time (surely not)? I would greatly appreciate some input on what exactly this means. Thanks in advance for the replies  Smiley

Hope you might find some reference here: https://www.blackbaud.com/files/support/howto/nonvshosted.pdf
It was a google search result by the way.
Apologies if the answer is simply able to be found with a basic google search. I had the question the other day and was under the impression I had already searched it myself. I'll chcek tghe liink now. Any other input is still greatly valued Smiley
I read the pdf and what I understand is, they are talking about a local server, not hosted in the cloud.

I noticed the exchanged happened very early time when merit was introduced. But one thing is very noticeable, these merits are flowing (TOO MUCH) on ANN, Bounty, Airdrop types of posts.

2696  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source suggestion on: May 06, 2018, 02:14:56 PM
Are you being sacastic? If not, please read TMAN's response to the OP's question.
It should enlighten you.
Not sure why are you thinking that... My statement was having TMAN, The Pharmacist, Jet Cash etc in mind (not sure if they are top merit senders but I wish they are). I have seen them giving away a lot of merits for good cause. Of-course they are not mining merits they get these from the merits they earn and even if they are (merit source, I am sure The pharmacist is not by the way) then it's good for the community.
2697  Economy / Reputation / Re: Negative Feedback. on: May 06, 2018, 01:27:08 PM
The merit thing, the merit I gave to Adioliver that's my decision and whoever they give it to that's there's. And as you brought it up we know each other personally.
If there's a way to show that the accounts are used by diff ip addresses then please tell, I guess that's the best shot I can give.

News at 11... "They're not 'Alt Accounts', we're just friends/family/classmates/co-workers!" Roll Eyes
@HCP: Can you add below with your news... please  Smiley

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

This was a very simple message when theymos explained about giving merits.

And these are the translations (I might bring you more in future) we are seeing through out the forum.

Why the negative feedback? Flodner is a friend of mine, am I not allowed to send him some merit? :/
Quote
He is a trusted friend he asked for some merit and I did.

Because meriting is not prohibited and everybody are free to distrubute theri1 merits to everyone without any reason etc.

PS: It's a parody post. Merit abusers, please do not use it as a reference ground for your merit abusing activities.

Update:
New translation 1: Award merit to the bounty managers to show your appreciation/like of the project.

I have not yet checked his post since I made this topic. I already reported them at the time of creating this post. I bought this in this topic to see your Feedback. I am going to lock the topic.
2699  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Restore Funds on: May 06, 2018, 12:40:28 PM
You need to inform the customer service of the website (exchanges/Blockchain.info etc), they will ask you to follow necessary steps to unlock your 2FA. Hope it helps. Next time use Authy desktop version. You can keep backup in the cloud.
2700  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source suggestion on: May 06, 2018, 12:25:33 PM
Just kidding, I just want to know who are the merit sources and you said the answer by just asking a question. Nice!
If top merit senders wants to be a merit source then they can apply. It's a choice they need to make. If they do not want to be a merit source then let them be it, they are not getting paid for it by the way.

Somehow theymos doesn't want us to know the name of the merit sources. So it's not easy to give you a list however you can use your experience on the forum to know some of their names.  Cheesy
