In my opinion, if you are legally allowed to own a firearm, you are a fool not to. Who knows what could happen, why rely on someone else miles away (cops) to protect you. What if a war came to your town or massive riots? Do you really trust your government to be in your best interest that much or to save you from a burger?

A quick note about cops...

Cops are not there when the robber comes to your house... cops show up 10-15 minutes later to clean up the mess (if they respond quickly)...

It's up to you to protect yourself
2722  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 3D-Printed Semi-Automatic Gun Is Simply Terrifying on: February 03, 2016, 09:36:07 PM
3D printing guns was so 2013:
The World's First 3D Printed Gun

Quote
...the world's first 3D Printed Metal Gun using a laser sintering process and powdered metals. The gun, a 1911 classic design, functions beautifully and has already handled 50 rounds of successful firing. It is composed of 33 17-4 Stainless Steel and Inconel 625 components, and decked with a Selective Laser Sintered (SLS) carbon-fiber filled nylon hand grip. The successful production and functionality of the 1911 3D Printed metal gun proves the viability of 3D Printing for commercial applications.

Granted, not everyone has $1M for a 3D-metal printer...

The only part you would need to print is the part with the serial number on it, usually the lower receiver... every other piece can be easily bought online legally (definitely do not print a plastic barrel)
2723  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where is your "promised land", and why? on: February 03, 2016, 09:26:58 PM
My "promised land" is the original from the bible...

Ya know, the land of milk and honey?

Where the Israelites murdered the farmers and beekeepers who were tending those cows and beehives, stole their milk and honey and land...

No better way to start off "the promised land" than with a little genocide, eh?

There are 3 points that prove the existence of God. There may be more. But these 3 will do it.
1. Cause and effect, which is really an expansion on Newton's 3rd Law.
2. Complex universe.
3. Universal entropy.

1. You are not Wise
2. You are simple and idiot
3. You will continue to be simple and idiot if you won't change.

What's the effect of this?!?

Can we keep Wisdom (and maybe Simplicity) and throwing Stupidity?

"Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly."
- Pro 13:16

Best regards.

I feel like I should be agreeing with this, but I'm not sure.

I thought the same thing when I read it... I'm not sure BitNow understands which side he's on? lol
2725  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: February 03, 2016, 07:52:11 PM
Why do you think so many mass shootings occur at a school, or other "gun free zone"?

The answer is that the crazy person knows it will be less likely that anyone will shoot back...

That's the sad reality... if they shoot up a school, they can kill 50 people before anyone stops them... if they tried that crap in the hood, they'd get killed before they got to 10...

First off, cause and effect disproves God until you find an effect that had no natural cause... that would kinda prove that something supernatural exists, but its never happened... unless you believe those fake "ghost hunter" shows on tv, in which case you are seriously gullible...

There is nothing about the big bang theory that would suggest complexity, intelligent design, or any such origin...

I see your misunderstanding after reading your post...

You think evolution = random chance?

Evolution is the opposite of random chance... it does have a random component, yes.  Mutations are random, but the selection is far from random... natural selection and survival of the fittest are the primary methods of evolution...

The effects of natural selection can be observed nearly everywhere on the planet.  Predatory animals have evolved different adaptations than prey animals.  Their eyes are in different locations on the face.  Prey animals tend to camouflage, whereas predators have less need of this particular adaptation.

Evolution can be seen and charted with things like the flu virus.  You can literally watch it change as the years go by...

Many bacteria are evolving to become immune to the antibiotics we use to fight them.  This has led to doctors prescribing antibiotics less often, etc...

You have to be blind to not see evidence of evolution everywhere you look!

How do you explain Vermont?

The state with the fewest gun laws (a child can carry a concealed handgun without a permit), has the lowest violent crime rate per capita...

The obvious conclusion is that when half the citizens are walking around with a concealed handgun, the criminals are scared...  Nobody wants to rob a store where multiple customers will defend the owner, that's suicide...

Here is what happens when people try to rob an establishment with armed customers:
Elderly Man Shoots Robbers at Internet Cafe

This is what reduces violent crime, not gun laws...
2728  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: February 03, 2016, 06:17:44 PM
Hmm... We were not comparing gun deaths but violent crime rates. And they were much higher in the USA than in European countries where strict gun control is applied.

Like how Violent Crime increased in the UK as a direct result of banning guns?

How do you explain this one?

2729  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: February 03, 2016, 06:08:50 PM
Many Jews of Jesus' day converted to Christianity. This included Jewish priests and scribes. These people are of a kind who diligently keep and uphold records. They attest to the validity of the New Testament by their tradition of flawlessly handing down the N.T. eye witness reports.

Ok, I'm calling bullshit on this one... this is a complete lie

Show me a single account of a Jewish priest or scribe converting to Christianity, and "attesting to the validity of the New Testament by their tradition of flawlessly handing down the N.T. eye witness reports."

You got a source/link for that?  Because it's bullshit!

(P.S., Don't try telling me about the Jews, I am a Jew)
2730  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: February 03, 2016, 06:02:18 PM
Gun control does absolutely nothing to reduce crime...

The numbers you see are just statistical manipulation, I'll explain...

You see people compare numbers like, "Gun control laws vs gun deaths"... this is a poorly(?) chosen statistic...

Why compare "gun deaths"?  Because "gun deaths" includes things like suicides, accidental shootings, etc... very different from "gun murders"...

If you compare the gun control laws of a country vs violent crimes, you will see that gun laws do nothing to stop violent crimes... gun laws only reduce "gun deaths" (mostly suicides by gunshot get reduced)

In places where guns are illegal, people resort to stabbing weapons like knives for their violence (UK is a great example)

UK has now make knives illegal because those became the weapon of choice since guns were already illegal...

Do you know what that will do?  NOTHING!... people will murder each other with baseball bats next... gun laws do not stop violence!

Nobody wants to see baseball bats become illegal!  Watch that first step, it's a slippery slope!

Jesus is the rock.
I am founded on Jesus.
Of course talking to me is like talking to a rock...
You can't move the foundation of the universe, the Rock, Jesus Christ.

Hate to break it to you, but Jesus is a myth...

Quote
In his book "On the Historicity of Jesus: Why We Might Have Reason for Doubt," Dr. Richard Carrier argues that the euhemerism of the mystical Jesus is a likely explanation of the myth of Jesus.

DEBATE on the Historicity of Jesus - Dr. Richard Carrier vs Trent Horn

There is literally zero historical evidence of this Jesus character... which is VERY suspicious...

Granted, we don't know much about the average guy who lived 2000 years ago, but this was not an average guy... We know lots about famous people of the time, like Julius Caesar...

No historian wrote about Jesus (and some were alive at the time)... Don't try mentioning Josephus, that was 70 years after Jesus died, and a proven forgery of the 3rd century (the text changed 200 years after Josephus wrote it)... There is not a single non-biblical account of "Jesus"

There is not a single object directly related to Jesus... he was a carpenter for 30 years... where are all the chairs and tables made by Jesus?  He must have made tens of thousands of wooden objects if he was a carpenter...

Jesus is a conglomeration of various myths which had been floating around the Mediterranean region for centuries... its quite well documented

Anyone else experiencing stability issues with their masternodes at the moment? Mine have been bulletproof for months but the last couple of weeks I'm constantly restarting them etc. I haven't made any changes to the underlying system. Has something on the network changed?

Walter
Quite possibly. I had a reliable masternode (16+ weeks of uptime) go down twice in one day, which is very unusual. I reviewed my firewall settings and realized I was not filtering some incoming traffic properly. There could be malicious users out there trying to bang on masternode IPs, looking for exploits. So I would recommend closing all the ports you don't need.

That's a good point...

It's quite likely that someone is scanning masternode IP's, then searching each server for open ports.

If someone found open ports, they might be trying to brute force crack your password, which could look like a DDOS attack, slowing your server, possibly crashing the masternode...

Yes, every birth is a miracle.

That's a rather loose definition of miracle... (pun intended)

I once had a debt collector troll me saying, "I see you post a lot of gun pictures on facebook"

I replied, "If you ever come over, I'll show them to you"

Never heard from that guy again...

We've all eaten a little piece, right guys?  Wink

I believe there is a logical explanation for everything... ergo, no miracles

I believe gun control is all about maintaining a firm grip

If you hold your gun loosely, the recoil could make it jump into your face, like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_MWgLZHV0c

or this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3PUXbo3tCo

Be sure to maintain control of your gun at all times...

Watch out, that can happen with watermelons too.

We NEED TO BAN WATERMELONS!

Do watermelons shoot back?     Huh

Yes, watch the f'ing video!

Poor girl got pounded right in the face
