When I say ignore the trolls, I don't mean constantly respond to them just to say you're ignoring them.
2722  Other / Meta / Re: This forum as an introduction to bitcoin! on: June 04, 2012, 05:08:29 PM
There are certain posters that consistently post garbage, but it's the price we may for free speech and non-censorship. And they don't ruin the overall experience.

Agreed, they usually have good points or post well otherwise at least.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=85381

I'm just going to leave that here. I also agree good manners should be enforced with impunity; absolute impunity.

Half that thread is worthless trolling, but I'm not gonna draw a line and say "The OP can tell you to suck his dick, but you can't tell him you're doing his mom because it's rude".

That said, I generally wouldn't allow that kind of posting in "real" threads. That would be disruptive and would likely end in a ban if they consistently posted like that.

Gonna have to expect some hard questions if you are asking for a loan within a week of registering. Just ignore the trolls.
2724  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: does posting 4 times make you all knowing on: June 04, 2012, 06:21:06 AM
There needs to be separate restrictions on the Marketplace (especially Goods, Currency Exchange, and Lending sub-sections).  Seems like every godamn newbie heads straight for one or more of those sections as soon as getting out of the sandbox.

And notice those that do get hammered for it.  Might be a harsh "self regulation" but the trolls are waiting for the newbies in lending and other places - that's why doing homework helps.

Some of them are a little overzealous, but yes self regulation works pretty well there for the most part.

2726  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: June 03, 2012, 08:57:06 AM
There are alot of whitelist requests and I feel much of them go unanswered but here goes; me to please.

Don't mistake the lack of mods posting here for inactivity, I and at least a couple others check this thread regularly, I just don't usually have time to post about it.
2727  Other / Off-topic / Re: Zombie Attacks on the Rise in Florida, 4 Cases so far This Year on: June 02, 2012, 08:55:56 PM
At least we know these zombies don't have to be killed by head-shots.  Plus they don't infect their victims.

Maybe it just has a long incubation period.

Banking as in the western world is forbidden in some muslim countries. I think that is interesting.

They do the same thing, just a different name/methodology.

I'm not sure if they will let you sell here since its not the marketplace...

Newbies can't post in the marketplace initially so yes, it's allowed.  Smiley
2731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: May 31, 2012, 06:45:30 AM
I pass the requirements and still cant post.

You do pass, that's weird if you can't. You should be able to now though, I pushed it through manually.
2732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Attention All Scammers!!! on: May 31, 2012, 06:32:52 AM
If you seriously plan on maintaining this thread, maybe you could not fill it with random images and posts, cause I doubt anyone is gonna read it beyond a page or two otherwise and the thread will fail to serve it's purpose.

For anyone taking Andrew Bitcoiner's rant seriously, you should take a look at this thread first before drawing your conclusions.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=83328.0

So what is the ETA for the general use?

I don't know but this is the email I got from them.

Hello Everyone!

We'd like to thank you all for all of the bug reports you generated for us.

For the next couple weeks, we're closing our private beta. Any accounts created during our private beta will be closed as well. Your balances were kept and we'll be creating a withdrawal page shortly so you can withdraw your funds.

Next, we're moving into phase two of our launch plan, which is a security hardening phase. We'll be going incognito for the rest of our development timeline so we can move to dedicated hardware, initiate penetration testing, and complete our comprehensive security audit.

We'll keep you updated, and be ready to launch to the public very soon!

I'm sorry, but how do you run a BTC client behind Tor? My Tor installation comes with a bundled browser, and from what I gather the only communications being scrambled are the ones the Tor browser makes... Am I wrong?

How would one (easily  Tongue) make MultiBit "speak" through Tor?

You aren't wrong, but you can route traffic through tor using proxy settings as seen here. It is easy.

It's a bit inconvenient that you can't announce a trade when you're a newbie though, are there any alternatives, like a newbie trade topic...

You can post those here, then move it later, or make another in marketplace when you get out.
2739  Other / Meta / Re: BadBear has let his position consume him. on: May 28, 2012, 11:56:55 AM

Well, at least that better than when we had a bunch of people saying
GOXXED
(couldn't resist Tongue)

A little bit  Wink
BadBeared doesn't quite have the same ring to it, too many syllables.

This thread will most likely get deleted before anybody reads it, and I will get banned, but oh well, I had to try.

I didn't comment on this part before cause it's ridiculous, but it is a little funny considering this thread has been here for almost 2 months now.

They're all my sockpuppets. I get bored easily what can I say.
