Of course it doesn't add up.  These password protected wallets are for sale online (I believe there are people on here buying, selling and trading them) and I don't believe anyone coming out now in 2020 saying that they have been trying to brute force a 10 year old wallet for only the last 9 months is telling the truth.  The wallet was worth twice as much ~ 30 months ago but OP waited until recently to brute force the wallet he says he owns.  GTFO.

A well known dude (@Davinci) is selling the house to buy bitcoin with proceeds (surprisingly, wifey is on board, apparently).
https://twitter.com/Davincij15/status/1260243620956954624

Reactions? A timely move or not? To me, maybe too much risk inasmuch as having a shelter has more meaning than just an investment. In fact, I never thought about the house as an investment, but more like as a place to live without getting bothered by a greedy landlord.

Such a strange time for him to do this.  He's been in the Bitcoin space since 2011 yet wants to sell the house now?  He was also talking about DCA years ago... it's hard to believe he needs to do this.  I bet my Lambo (seen here - https://youtu.be/vYHXdKvMHOc) that he doesn't sell the house.

Now, let me explain to all of you why the Swedish government is not closing down society and quarantining people/closing of areas.

This is a little known fact outside Sweden, and it rarely comes up in the debate.
Neither the Swedish government nor the Swedish parliament has the authority to do that.
The Swedish constitution guarantees all citizens the right to free movement in peacetime, no exceptions but one, people with a dangerous contagious disease can be forcefully quarantined according to the contagious disease act. But that only applies to specific individuals.
And there is no such thing as marshal law in Sweden, not allowed by the constitution.

So, no matter how much people or other countries bitch about Swedens way of handling the crisis, nothing is going to change.
You can change the constitution, but that reacquires two parliament votes with one general election in between.
We might se a change in the wording in the constitution from just "wartime" to "war and pandemics" or something like that, but no such change has been suggested yet.

They could still *recommend* people to wear masks in public spaces, right?

I doubt such recommendation would be against the law...

And yet:

You can still do your part Smiley

lucky enough to never had the gambling addiction.

I like to learn from other people's mistakes.

In the case of gambling, it was the drummer of a band I was in back in my high school days. He had saved up enough from slaving at a summer job and working after school to buy a lovely new set of Sonor drums.

One day we showed up for rehearsal and there were no drums. It turned out that they were in the pawnshop. He'd bet the money on a "can't lose" horse at the racetrack. It did lose.

None of us had enough money to get them out. That was the end of that band. Too bad. We were good. Won every battle of the bands we ever entered. It was a bitter pill to swallow.

I swore never to allow something that stupid to happen to me. Since then I've never bet on a race or game, bought a lottery ticket, gambled at a casino, or otherwise risked my money on something over which I didn't have control.

I don't play the stock market and I'm a Bitcoin investor, not a trader. I consider being a Bitcoin early adopter like being a venture capitalist.

VCs are investors. People who buy listed stocks after the IPO are just gamblers.

 Reminds me of a joke.

What do you call a drummer who just broke up with his girlfriend?

Hi all,

In my possesion I have a wallet.dat that I have tried to brute-force with hascat, jonh the ripper and btcrecover for more than 10 months the final result is null, I would like to know if you have information to share or additional help.

Any proposal is good.

Thanks in advance to everyone.

LapwingBTC

Stop paying for uncrackable password protected wallet.dat files.  Best advice.
Also, this is the wrong section for such a post.

  Nice video too.
2747  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where do mining rewards come from? on: May 13, 2020, 05:45:51 PM
Hi, guys! Just never was into mining, and now want to learn more.

There are fees attached to each transaction.  The miner who links the block into the blockchain gets those as well as the newly minted coins.

Try to sum up next time with your comment

You asked for a sum up so here it goes. Did you see this warning above his threads?

It says many people think this guy is a scammer, and trade with extreme caution. How did you not notice these warnings?

edit: I should also add Always create a bitcointalk account before you look at trades. This is so you can see the trust ratings which are only available to registered users. Don't just go to their telegram or site or email address without making an account here first (maybe you already did this).

Thanks for adding value to the thread

We're still waiting for your explanation though...

2749  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: naober (walmart34) scammer scams 350$ selling bank account on: May 12, 2020, 09:22:11 PM
Sadly we got scammed by this guy,

We were trying to buy a Estonia bank acc to create VCC's

He let us watch first the account giving a one time code to login (looked legit)

The account had vccs on it.. so we trusted.

We sent the 350$ on BTC to his wallet:

Then he deleted the conversation on telegram and blocked me.

I cant believe this guy is not banned/deleted from bitcointalk yet !

You ignored the trust ratings which not only warn but link to previous scams - the very thing that would have helped you not to get scammed - and now you open a scam accusation?   How lame is that?

Is there a website like blockchain.info that includes the block reward amount?

https://bitinfocharts.com/index_v.html

Blockchair is good too and very configurable.
