2741  Economy / Lending / Re: lending terms on: April 04, 2013, 04:24:23 PM
i actually listed for a loan for 4btc, and i i got a PM saying i should send 1btc first as collateral. please advice?

Your thread does not make any sense. Are you looking for a 4BTC loan here, or are you loaning out 1BTC?  Huh
i requested for a loan on the newbie section and i got a PM from a member asking me for 1btc as collateral.
Well, he's probably trolling you TBH. However, please let this be known that without any prior reputation or any collateral, no one's going to lend to you. What's preventing you from running away and making a new account, just to ask for yet another loan?

A short guide of getting bitcoin loan is here ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97214.0), but I don't really expect anyone to bite even if ID is given. A quick look around here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0) can let you know how rampant scams are in this forum.

Well hopefully the moderator can aggressively move it to Alt-Currency forum.

Well, please report them if you see those outside of the alt coins subforum.

Unless you can state and prove your reputation here, PayPal is quite taboo.

I'm still on the road, haven't made it home yet. When I pm'ed you the other day I told you I'd be reporting back late at night and not to worry. But I guess there's a major gap in our time zones. Im hoping to make it back home in a few hours. I'm posting from my friends iphone....he's driving. Will be in touch when I'm home.

I can confirm this john, he is in the proces of getting everything straightened out and it is currently still April 3rd in his neck of the woods(Appx 10PM)

Hope everything finalizes well between the 2 of you,

BTC4A
Any updates?  Huh

买比特币 - Chinese
beli Bitcoins - Indonesian/Malay
2747  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Anything on BTCJam... on: April 04, 2013, 12:30:51 PM
I'm still evaluating if this should belong here or Service Discussions, but I agree with your points there. Being verified on BTCJam does not mean anything at all - there is no legal ramifications, or even a simple doxing for the scammer. I've learnt to not invest anything on BTCJam since I read the TOS a long time ago.

I understand your points, but if possible, can you please leave it here?

It's intended as a warning for BTCJam and potential scamming and the fact there is no ramifications.
Yep - IMO BTCJam should change their policies to dump all data on the scammers publicly or help to pursue the scammers legally.
2748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the biggest mistakes you've done with Bitcoin? on: April 04, 2013, 12:08:14 PM
I never did this, but I already saw someone sending Bitcoins to the worng address, I think that this is the most Epic Fail someone can do.

Yep and I did that already. I sent 1 btc to a wrong address, probably a wrong instawallet address.
+1. Let us pray for the coins sent to oblivion...

2750  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Online Wallet with Affiliate System ? on: April 04, 2013, 11:26:20 AM
The only eWallet service that I would consider using is blockchain.info for it's security as the way the private keys are handled. (sorry Kris  Tongue ) They don't have an affiliate system though... Poor piuk isn't charging a fee from his users so there would be minimal revenue, if any.
2751  Other / Meta / Re: What to do with this? on: April 04, 2013, 11:18:42 AM
On a second note: You mods need an internal forum to discuss stuff like how to appropriately react to situations like this. I can understand theymos wishing to be as open as possible, but washing the linen in public ultimately weakens staff position.
We have one, but I figured that this thread this would clear our stance of similar issues like this. I get PM'ed pretty much times to remove threads/replies where the OP figured that would be an embarrassment to him, or even detract his credibility, and many of them couldn't take it when I said no.
2752  Other / Meta / Re: What to do with this? on: April 04, 2013, 11:12:00 AM
A piece of advice from a mod of a forum a bit larger than this one.

There is a certain class of user we call "legal trolls". This type of troll aims to undermine moderation staff and silence critics by looking for loopholes in the forum rules/netiquette, deliberately misunderstanding wording in forum rules/netiquette and deliberately misapplying legal terms or citing laws that are not even applicable to the forum in question.

It is the digital equivalent to the real world situation where a guy is tying up bouncers in discussion at a club when he is not allowed to enter.

The matter of legal trolls was discussed with our lawyer who came to the following conclusion.

[paraphrased]The solution is of course to remove the offending user from the premises. An internet forum is the digital equivalent to a private club. The club owner is well advised to remove club members that are souring the club by harassing club staff or other club members. He is also well within his rights to do so. Note also that this does NOT constitute an infringement on free speech, because free speech laws in all jurisdictions apply to the relation between government and citizen, NOT to relations between citizen (club owner and stuff) and citizen (club members). [/paraphrased]

Thank you - I learnt something new today.

@GoldenAngel
And what about the feelings of the people who you try to cheat with your other accounts like "Peter.z"?
How many accounts you have opened else to cheat other people? 5? 10?
I think it's time, the admin start to delete all your accounts, bevor you can cheat more people!

Just got this PM from GoldenAngel:

Hey mate,

Can you please send me some pictures of your ASIC avalon with a piece of paper saying 'Peterz' in it.

Its for an April fools joke and would be really appreciated!

Please let me know and I'll give you my email to attach pictures. Doesn't matter if its a bit late, still will be super funny.

Okay, this escalated quickly....

Also, if there's any issues with my moderation feel free to chime in. I'm simply sick of such users that come around, trying to get me do something that they want, and throw a tantrum when they don't. I guess there's some truth to my title there.
<----

Good work John! Everyone clearly thinks your right from all the responses! I'm glad you showed the forum how you abuse your powers and the level of of maturity that you possess. It was a pretty simple request, you are obviously unfit for the job.

A clarification to anyone's who's reading this: As per the forum policy, we do not remove threads where there are replies by other users unless there is express permission by the other participants. OT replies are not included in this policy, of course.

Sorry John, don't back down now. You've really done one here. Also if I wrote a topic, I should be allowed to delete it. If I express distress over a topic that is heated towards me, I should have the right for it to be deleted. If someone asks politely to remove a thread which is affecting them, I would have thought any rational human being in your position would have sympathised.

Yet here we are. Good job John! I really approve of how you moderate these forums (sarcasm) and I think a lot of people have changed how they view you now. Not doing your scabby tip jars any favour, I guess they will slow to a trickle now.

We aren't going to censor people just because someone hurt your feelings. Don't take your anger out on the wrong people.

I'm not angry? Just articulating the general mood towards John the magnificent troll mod. Didn't you hear one of his supporters before? Everything confirmed  Grin

I really hope I didn't hurt John's feelings... He's gone awfully quiet. Must be hard having a reality check of his own life.
If I took the time to reply to each troll I meet, I'd still be replying now.
2755  Other / Meta / Re: What to do with this? on: April 04, 2013, 10:53:57 AM
I agree it's kinda in bad taste to make this public through.

Thank you. I have a feeling a lot of people feel the same way but don't want to speak up against John to some nobody.

I simply don't have enough time to reply to each of your PM's, especially when each got worse in succession. I refrained from posting the PM's until it got to this:

You clearly do not understand the term 'cyber bullying' and the hatred displayed by the members of this forum to my own psychological health. If you do not follow the news, this is a serious offence which is being cracked down upon. And by your latest pm shows that you are now involved. Where's this forum hosted? Netherlands?

Well done. You clearly have no position or right to be a moderator on a forum when you do NOTHING!

2756  Economy / Speculation / Re: DDoS attack at 300+$/BTC = bubble burst? on: April 04, 2013, 10:29:37 AM
Will these hacker be smart enough to prevent it? They get more profit if it doesn't happen, but the more the price raises, the more likely it is to happen, or not?
Well, the DDOS attack on MT.Gox yesterday did not affect the prices as much as to equivalate a 'bubble burst'. I'd guess most investors are smart enough to not get thrown in the panic selling by now if yet another DDOS occurs.

No, you stupid... You write a topic, and you may delete/edit/remove the content from YOUR OWN posts/replies. Who are you to decide on the deletion of replies made by other users?
This is a private forum, and there are a few rules, and when I say a few I really mean few. If you can't accept those few rules you're better off leaving.

As stated in my response it was for the thread to be deleted. I asked John nicely to remove MY thread and admitted I went about it the wrong way yet as you can see he is very childish.
The thread contains replies by others. This (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7269.0) is an example of a thread without other replies, and can be deleted with express permission by the OP only.
2758  Economy / Speculation / Re: BREAKING-LEAK:Identities+emails of rich hiding cash offshore $32trillion's worth on: April 04, 2013, 10:19:17 AM
This is what ONE trillion dollars looks like, imagine 32 of these:

I'd imagine most of the 32trillion here is in digital form, and was never printed for circulation.

Wow, you really stooped low here. You are pathetic and a bully. I'm glad you have highlighted the sort of person you are, looking for all the 14 year old forum members to yell and scream 'HAHAHAHA'. To most people, you just look pathetic and I feel sorry for you.

Just look at all your tip jars covering your profile. I really love the beggar look, suits you.

This is amazing how badly you shot yourself in the foot. You displayed to everyone the sort of person you are and lost credibility from the others who looked up to you. You are a troll king with a few 14 year old minions.

Well, it's only you and yourself making a spectacle out of this. I don't think I've even insulted you before, but I guess I apologize for not taking in account that you're such a sensitive kid.

You're the act here John. Your the one being a child and posting everything in here making it into such a big deal. I'm open to discussion anywhere.

By the way, the main reason I posted this here was to demonstrate an example of the moderation here. We uphold the spirit of free speech vigorously, and we do not delete anything unless it's absolutely needed. Please do not PM/report to us asking to delete replies by others unless you have a good reason for that.
