Your thread does not make any sense. Are you looking for a 4BTC loan here, or are you loaning out 1BTC?  i requested for a loan on the newbie section and i got a PM from a member asking me for 1btc as collateral. Well, he's probably trolling you TBH. However, please let this be known that without any prior reputation or any collateral, no one's going to lend to you. What's preventing you from running away and making a new account, just to ask for yet another loan? I'm still on the road, haven't made it home yet. When I pm'ed you the other day I told you I'd be reporting back late at night and not to worry. But I guess there's a major gap in our time zones. Being verified on BTCJam does not mean anything at all - there is no legal ramifications, or even a simple doxing for the scammer. I've learnt to not invest anything on BTCJam since I read the TOS a long time ago.
I understand your points, but if possible, can you please leave it here? It's intended as a warning for BTCJam and potential scamming and the fact there is no ramifications. Yep - IMO BTCJam should change their policies to dump all data on the scammers publicly or help to pursue the scammers legally. |

The only eWallet service that I would consider using is blockchain.info for it's security as the way the private keys are handled. (sorry Kris  ) They don't have an affiliate system though... Poor piuk isn't charging a fee from his users so there would be minimal revenue, if any. |

On a second note: You mods need an internal forum to discuss stuff like how to appropriately react to situations like this. I can understand theymos wishing to be as open as possible, but washing the linen in public ultimately weakens staff position.
We have one, but I figured that this thread this would clear our stance of similar issues like this. I get PM'ed pretty much times to remove threads/replies where the OP figured that would be an embarrassment to him, or even detract his credibility, and many of them couldn't take it when I said no. |

A piece of advice from a mod of a forum a bit larger than this one.
There is a certain class of user we call "legal trolls". This type of troll aims to undermine moderation staff and silence critics by looking for loopholes in the forum rules/netiquette, deliberately misunderstanding wording in forum rules/netiquette and deliberately misapplying legal terms or citing laws that are not even applicable to the forum in question.
It is the digital equivalent to the real world situation where a guy is tying up bouncers in discussion at a club when he is not allowed to enter.
The matter of legal trolls was discussed with our lawyer who came to the following conclusion.
[paraphrased]The solution is of course to remove the offending user from the premises. An internet forum is the digital equivalent to a private club. The club owner is well advised to remove club members that are souring the club by harassing club staff or other club members. He is also well within his rights to do so. Note also that this does NOT constitute an infringement on free speech, because free speech laws in all jurisdictions apply to the relation between government and citizen, NOT to relations between citizen (club owner and stuff) and citizen (club members). If I express distress over a topic that is heated towards me, I should have the right for it to be deleted. Well, the DDOS attack on MT.Gox yesterday did not affect the prices as much as to equivalate a 'bubble burst'. I'd guess most investors are smart enough to not get thrown in the panic selling by now if yet another DDOS occurs. |

Who are you to decide on the deletion of replies made by other users? This is a private forum, and there are a few rules, and when I say a few I really mean few. If you can't accept those few rules you're better off leaving. As stated in my response it was for the thread to be deleted. I asked John nicely to remove MY thread and admitted I went about it the wrong way yet as you can see he is very childish. The thread contains replies by others. This ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7269.0) is an example of a thread without other replies, and can be deleted with express permission by the OP only. |
