So... Chance and luck are different things?
Of course! The word "chance" has gambling connotations, while the word "luck" is loaded with superstitious undertones :-) The only difference comes from the perspective of the person you ask. More semantics than anything of substance. Luck is the lay man's term for probability and has nothing to do with superstition. And chance, well, that's just luck! Semantics or not, some of us prefer to use technically correct terms for things.

And thanks "Mikestang" for your helpful suggestion on Google. I'll have to try that out sometime. ![Kiss](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/kiss.gif) You're welcome, always happy to help an eager mind. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

It's very nice to wake up to a new block on the pool. It's sooo much more exciting when the block has been mined by one of my miners!! Yayyy! Very proud to contribute to the payouts, guys! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Haha, nice. Thanks and congrats!

Let's wait and see if that hashrate fires back up after the difficulty change.
I wish I had 20PH that I could just shut off at a whim when I felt the diff was getting too high. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

One person, today recieve BrandNEW S5 from 5th batch... look (right blade)
That kind of pisses me off. You pay for something you expect it to be new. WTF? I bet that right miner has been used for at least a month. It is a completely different design too. Isn't there some kind of consumer protection that you are expected to receive NEW and UNUSED hardware? No where is it stated that the hardware is used or refurbished. Looks like Antminer is trying to slip in used miners. That's a whole level of low and just bad business practice. Can Bitmaintech share with us why your loyal buyers are getting used hardware? It's probably from one of their data centers. They mine with them for a while until the machine paid for itself (not long since cost = manufacturer's cost) and then resell at full retail.

You'd make more btc playing with faucets all day than cpu mining, and you can't make diddly squat with faucets.

it is more efficient at 900gh
it is less efficient at 1300 gh
the s-5 pretty much is .50 to .53 watts a gh
the sp20 is .44 to .62 watts a gh depends on the hash settings.
Right now I am running an sp20 at 1185gh and using 599 watts on a plat psu that is 0.5054 watts a gh
I have had all three of them:
sp20 s-5 avalon 4.1
the sp20 set to 1200gh is medium loud not quiet
the s-5 set to 1200gh is nut job crazy loud without proper fan mods I can get an s-5 to do 1300gh at 55db with 35 dollars in mods.
the avalon likes to do 800 to 925 gh dead quiet decent power numbers. costly
What are the S5 mods that make it tolerable volume? I'd consider one for my home use except how loud I've heard they are. I don't mind fan noise, my computer runs 24/7 and has like 8 case fans, but I do mind like a vacuum cleaner running in my room all day.

Antminer S5 is the most cost effective miner at present. With a power draw of less than 600 watts at the wall anyone can use one at home. You would not want it in your living room or bedroom due to fan noise though.
I don't think you want them anywhere inside your house at all from how loud and hot they are. If you are running in a area where you are worried about noise you might check out the Avalon 4.1 it's amazing on underclock how quiet it gets. Shameless plug to new review I did on it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1008726.0The S5 is also a great machine. You just you will need a spot that you are not using to put them that can keep noise away from living quarters, that's what I did with them. I was also thinking of an sp20, I have read they are not even as loud as the S5 and out hash it.

I always hope for negative difficulty adjustment, but at this point I'm just rooting for <5%.

Is there a place to go to see a chart of the percentage of the network that is running 0.10.0? In other words, given that the miners vote by running a particular version, where can we see that represented?
Bitnodes shows that: https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/nodes/40.26% of reporting nodes running 10 as of this post.

I heard someone said that the entire Bitcoin economy could, theorically, work on a single BTC. Is this true??
Yes, 1 btc is infinitely divisible, although right now the smallest denomination recognized is 1 satoshi, 0.00000001 BTC. So if only 1 btc existing we could divide it down as small as was required.

It's not a big deal, nothing changed. There are still 1/3 of Btc waiting to mine.
Yup, and I think the last 1/3 is going to be worth way, way more than the first 2/3.

Me too, first I've seen of this. Time to read up and see how it got past me!

My current estimate would be 10 Bitcoins. I think that is a fair estimate. The more time that goes by, the less coins you will need.
I think you are going to need a lot more than 10 BTC if you want to live comfortably. It really all depends on how much money you need each month to retain your current lifestyle... All I know is I am trying to make as many btc as I can. I spend a little here and there, but mostly I'm hoping that, in the long run, just a few will be worth quite a sum.

I would never make a good cop because I would be tempted to steal shit all the time. "Oh look, this belongs(ed) to the bad guy, no one will ever miss it..."
I can see how this would happen, it probably happens more than is ever found out.

Well if it's right in the gui like that it will be way easier to set than on my S1, thanks.
I'll keep looking for a performance summary, bound to be 9ne posted around here somewhere.
at this point in time, someone should figure out a way to undervolt and underclock these things instead of trying to overclock them. they are near the end of their profitability. True, but for a hobby miner that is not concerned with profit I want maximum hash rate at the most stable setting. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) That's exactly why I got the S3+ with the proper firmware,to underclock it very soon ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Got a second one coming in late this week ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) At $115 with shipping, bout the only miner I see making ROI in about 3 months or less............ Be looking for a third in a week or 2.Hope to underclock them to about 300-325 watts. Good plan. I eventually want to add something like an sp20 to my little home set up. I look forward to the next hardware releases so that the sp20's and S5's will cost what the S3 does today (and the S3 like the S1 I guess...).
