1941  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: July 10, 2015, 06:20:54 AM
I've put yet another updated AntS3 update archive in my binaries git hub of latest 4.9.2 cgminer.
For details and installing: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS3

It's another (minor) update to the previous AntS3 release I did:

Code:
2015-Jul-10 Update cgminer-ants3-4.9.2-94e04f6-3.tgz
----------------------------------------------------
Add a table of miner hardware settings to the bottom of the Miner Status page

Tested and running on my pool of course Smiley

If you are already running the 2015-Jul-7 version (the previous update)
Code:
If you update from the 2015-Jul-7 version to the 2015-Jul-10 version,
instead of 'sync' and 'reboot' at the end of the update,
you can instead run this command on your AntS3:
 rm /tmp/luci-modulecache/*
Then the update is complete and nothing else needs to be done.

Very cool, no reboot necessary is nice.

Is there somewhere I can read what each new field is?  Some are obvious, but I'm curious about a couple.

Decided to point my usb sticks here, getting bored this summer with no btc coming in from mining.  Seeing as my usb sticks run all the time and they aren't going to solve a solo block realistically, may as well trickle some Satoshi into the wallet.

Heh, what a dick move that would be to buy all of them.  There's a lot of people that want to play with these!

Mine will go here, and these 4 will go play somewhere else.

1944  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.2.0: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, Antminer U3 on: July 09, 2015, 11:52:11 PM
Thanks, I'll give that one a shot and report back.

A separate question, even though the U3 reports DEAD, it still seems to be hashing, the number to the right of the slash updates like the unit is working; albeit not at 60GH, but right now if I can get it to run stable at all I'll be happy.

Fun times, will there be a max. order quantity?

1btc a day Smiley

Fixed. Smiley

I just don't get their priorities, the 20btc they just gave away could fund development for software used by thousands of people, greatly increasing efficiency for all; a lasting, tangible improvement...

I've never been too concerned about the value of the hardware vs the work I've done, until recently.
Over the past year or so it's been all about manufacturers selling hardware to business and the bitcoin community has been pretty much left behind in the dust ... or buying hardware that they'll definitely lose BTC on - so yeah I've not been liking working at slave labour rates so been expecting them to cough up some BTC - also since the hardware is mostly worthless in anything but large quatities running on cheap power in a data center somewhere, it's sometimes a loss for me to get the hardware for dev purposes at home ...

They won't pay for your development, but they do stuff like this (20btc gift to a blog):

Bitmain is happy to support the Neighborhood Pool Watch blog. Thank you, @oocBlog! 20 BTC donation tx: https://blockchain.info/tx/faf600f3d567ea4b0e8291de908e316e9bbe88464c2db42e454cb5d832fc07ba

I think you mentioned in a previous post you asked for 2btc 1btc a day to do some work?  So there's 10 20 days of solid software development thrown at a blog site for what, some fancy graphs?  I don't get it.
1948  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.2.0: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, Antminer U3 on: July 09, 2015, 10:45:26 PM
Eh? It's no longer hanging... :/

I tried that same test again and it hung, but when I unplugged the U3 usb and plugged it back in again it ran through to completion again.  I actually didn't try launching the bisect version with my normal batch file, I'll try that and hopefully it fires up just fine.

Still hanging, unfortunately.

Ran the debug scan without the U3 plugged in, I think there must be some issue with this particular computer.  Here's the output up to where it hangs.

I will continue using -S antminer@0001 and trying to get the U3 to run, I am not having any luck getting it operational, let alone running stable, but at least I can get bfg to recognize it this way.  I'll keep trying, hopefully you will have time/motivation to get the U3 working a bit better in a future release, thank you for your help!
1949  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How easy is it to brute force an electrum wallet password? on: July 09, 2015, 10:28:04 PM
Electrum wallet or email account, it doesn't matter, a password is a password is a password.  Check out https://www.grc.com/haystack.htm, might help you out.

Real words are about the easiest passwords to break, but ultimately is has to do with the characters that make up the password.

As ever, google has all the aswers: https://www.google.com/search?q=brute+force+password+time

So I tried to see how btc worked "on the street" here in downtown Los Angeles.  I tried to give 5 different homeless guys some bitcoin, but none of them had a cell phone or computer, so it didn't work too well...

Box is a cheap PP box, small foam inlay currently only cut out for the heat sink - might flip that around yet.  The box is intended for playing cards, so I ran with that for a small insert's design.  Needs a few small tweaks.

Those types of boxes are very common in the rock & mineral community for displaying rock slices and such.  They can be found in large quantity at wholesale prices around the web, but here's an ebay link for an example.

This is true. However some users are curious as to how many other users are using the service (such as myself) even if it's not useful to my own mining operation.

You can satisfy your curiosity with this link: http://solo.ckpool.org/pool/pool.status

But we don't need the pool data to be shown continuously, taking up screen real estate. Smiley

Since I have a couple U3s and no R-boxes, I would vote for the 4-chip as well.

its set to the 5m one..

i tried to tweak the php to get the pool fields working, and while they should work, for some reason the string from the pool isnt being recognized..

Since it's a solo "pool" the pool stats are meaningless to individual users; there's no need to display them.  Please remove them, it would be more useful to use that space to show the 1m 1h 1d 7d user hash rates.

yes i think so as well. also the pool lastupdate and user last update is the same number.

so basically take away all the pool info, and just use the user info..

done until cryptoglance fixes it..

please backup the original.

Thanks aarons6, this has been added to the development branch. A nightly will be pushed out in a few days.

And just on the heels of this is this quote from ck, affirming what I wrote.  Grin
Using aarons6's php file until the nightly build releases.

Remember that pool stats are totally meaningless for individual miners here though and the stats are really there for me.
1955  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we stress testing again? on: July 09, 2015, 07:21:39 PM
the cost would be ~80 USD/h with 1 MB blocks,  ~850 USD/h with 8 MB blocks, and ~2100 USD/h with 20 MB blocks.

Is that cost just the tx fees?  Because if you're sending transactions to yourself the only cost would be tx fee.  I didn't see this stated, so just wondering.
1956  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] HaoBTC launches fixed term deposit account on: July 09, 2015, 07:18:39 PM
I think the interest is the same for 10 or 20 btc.
Yes, you get a higher rate in financing by investing for a loner term, not a larger amount.

Statement:
Going forward, anyone who has a legitimate claim that loss has been caused by withdrawal delay due to our fault can send the proof either to my email address eric.mu@haobtc.com or WeChat and get a compensation no less than the loss. The money will be paid using my personal fund, as the company doesn't have such policy for the time being. I just want to show people that we do care about fairness.
Now that's putting your best foot forward, hopefully HaoBTC will follow your lead and develop a company policy so you don't have to cover these losses on your own.
1957  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: July 09, 2015, 07:15:12 PM
Does anyone know of a way to fix zombie U3's without physically unpluggin/replugging?  I'm about to go out of town for a week and I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to start them back up.  I can VPN and access the host machine remotely...  Thoughts?

You can try quitting cgminer and restarting via VPN, but I think you may have to physically unplug/plug them to clear ZOMBIE.
1958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain split of 4 July 2015 on: July 09, 2015, 07:13:02 PM

The current delay in the transactions is due to a spammer (attack) on the Bitcoin network, who sends peaks of 150 transactions per seconds on a network that can handle about 7 only.
One jerk can jam up Bitcoin for the entire world?
One jerk with a lot of Bitcoin nodes and a lot of money to burn.

If you just send transactions back and forth to yourself the only money that's burning is the tx fee, and that's minimal.
1959  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: July 09, 2015, 07:06:45 PM
I've put an updated AntS3 update archive in my binaries git hub of latest 4.9.2 cgminer.
For details and installing: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS3

It's an update to the previous AntS3 release I did:

Code:
2015-Jul-7 Update cgminer-ants3-4.9.2-94e04f6-2.tgz
---------------------------------------------------
Update the cgminer init.d script to run ntpd a few times trying to set the date

Add more frequencies to the Web Advanced Settings tab
Warning, the higher frequencies marked with a warning can risk damage

Tested and running on my pool of course Smiley

Lovely, will update the next time my S3+ needs a reboot, thanks again!

I updated my box last night to the most recent 4.9.2 release.  I noticed the following on github, I don't think it was there for the first 4.9.2 release:
Quote
If you have any trouble rebooting, power it off, wait 10 seconds then on again

I did not have any trouble rebooting the first time I updated, but with this update when I reboot from ssh the machine didn't reboot - the fan speed gradually decreased, decreased, decreased, shut off, but the box never reboot.  I manually powered off and on and all was well, but I though the failed reboot odd.

hw errors have dropped 40% to (0.047%)

Is that a typo?  If you had hw errors ~ 40% then you had something seriously wrong with your machine or settings.
