1901  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lottery stats, discussion and group play on: July 16, 2015, 09:14:19 PM
The groups bought 785 Lotto 649 tickets for the July 15 draw
The groups won $175 and 97 free tickets in the July 15
If I assume 1 ticket cost $1 your group would have made more money if you split up the $785 used to purchase the initial tickets amongst the group.

The amount won by each group is posted on the website.
Oh, it's on "the website"?  Good thing there's only a couple websites to check, shouldn't take too long to find the one you're talking about...  Roll Eyes

Even with international shipping, unless someone is picking it up directly from the international distributor then they'll be paying for shipping twice: once to get the bulk buy to the distributor (this cost will likely be added to the distributors resale price), and again to have it shipped from the distributor to them.

But if it is cheaper to do it that way then yes, I too am glad sidehack is allowing that distribution model for the folk abroad.

Why would you need a group buy?  There's no discount on quantity, which is what group buys are used for.

I live in the USA where these are being made, and afaik the sticks will come direct from GekkoScience.

OP,

Flip a coin 1000 times, tell me what your longest streak of heads in a row is.  Then tell me how it's impossible and coins cheat and fuck coins.

I'm not sure how the regional guys are going to want to do sales. I figure probably post a fresh thread in Group Buys but it'll be up to them. I'll have instructions on my end ironed out when I post the when-sales-officially-open date, which I'll make sure has at least a three-day lead after the announcement so people can get their various waterfowl aligned.

Looking forward to the announcement!  Hopefully it won't happen this weekend as I will be out of town, and I have a feeling these are going to go quick.

Good luck!

Site is back up, carry on earning interest.  Cool

I have a little bit invested here and I got nervous for a second, too.
1907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we stress testing again? on: July 16, 2015, 06:38:22 PM
Where is this officially documented?  Provide a link please.  I find it concerning that a transaction sent could be "forgotten" by the network for any reason, that seems like a huge problem.

It is documented in the source code.

Thanks to you and other who replied with this.  Unfortunately I do not speak code, but I have read a couple books and the white paper and such and never saw this mentioned.  Makes me kind of nervous, but I guess nothing to worry about as long as the tx backlog is small.

And just like that, he's gone...

I'm sure (hope) it's just a technical glitch, but you never know when a place is going to close up shop and walk away with the coins...

At some point, the network will "forget" you transaction.

1910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Golden Ratio Attack. Blocks more than half full lead to mining monopoly. on: July 16, 2015, 03:30:05 AM
This is very interesting and informative... I wouldn't mind seeing more detailed math behind this

Yes, the math would be very nice to see.  It's an interesting theory, but it needs evidence (or in math you'd call it a proof I guess) to support it and make it more than a well thought out post.

If "someone" is doing this on purpose than there's less than a handful of someones that could be.  That certainly narrows down the suspect list...

One thing that comes to mind, though, is that some of the pools capable of this also mine empty blocks and I'm not sure that helps an attack as described.
1911  Other / Off-topic / Re: Weed or Alcohol? on: July 15, 2015, 10:03:22 PM
Alcohol because it's much more healthier than weed!

You must be high if you believe that.  Try a little research, you'll see how wrong you are.
1912  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: - A Mining Newbie looking for answers - on: July 15, 2015, 09:46:51 PM
I see a lot of stuff called ANTMINER S2 S3 S4 S5 and stuff , I will also assume that those are used for Mining , correct me if I'am wrong ?

You're a senior member on this forum since September 2014 and you don't know what Antminer is?

How much did you pay for this account?  Feel free to answer in French, as many of your old posts were written in that language.
1913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we stress testing again? on: July 15, 2015, 09:42:21 PM
Still running at around 11,000 unconfirmed transactions - https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

This seems to have become the norm now, my memory is terrible but I swear the average used to be somewhere between 500 - 3000 at any one time. It's terrible really, how long are these stress tests spam attacks set to go on for?

I hope all the garbage stays unconfirmed, there's no reason to fill blocks with the "test spam".  Let all those tx sit in limbo while us regular folk go about our business.  I use normal tx fees and have not had one issue since the spam tests started.

If this was a test it proved nothing.

If this was an attack it was poorly executed and failed.
1914  Other / Archival / Re: July 11th to July 25th diff thread. Picks are now open. on: July 15, 2015, 08:21:57 PM
BTC price holding strong at 291.  This 300 dollar barrier is an interesting one, we keep nipping at it, slipping back, then nipping at it again.
1915  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: i have $250,000 to start a farm help me plan it on: July 15, 2015, 05:28:31 AM
Even with cheap power, $250,000 is not enough to get a serious mine up and running.  Look at HaoBTC, for example.  They just relocated 4PH+ of equipment they already owned to a new facility and they spent $600,000-$800,000 to set up the new mine.  They have cheap power and 0 equipment cost and spent almost a million bucks.

Save your $250,000, I think it would be wasted trying to build a mine, especially if you have to come on a forum and ask basic advice.
1916  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: July 15, 2015, 05:21:53 AM
OK I hit "sync with browser" and save/apply.

Still pinging a bad address...

EDIT:
Tried rebooting. Same issues.
Try using a real DNS server and not your local machine.
1917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How old were you when Satoshi started Bitcoin? on: July 15, 2015, 05:16:53 AM
I think I'm older than you all put together.  2009 was only 6 years ago, people.  That's like yesterday.
1918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we stress testing again? on: July 15, 2015, 05:11:23 AM
I just send 0.1 btc to an investment account using core 0.11 as my wallet, default tx fee, and it went through no problem.
1919  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 76 blocks solved! on: July 15, 2015, 05:09:38 AM
OO MM GGGOD!!! I HIT ONE!?!? Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
That was you who hit the block right before the pool went down?  Congrats!!!!

LOL yeah. I was going to shut the rentals and my miner down until it came back too, but was playing with the little ones and forgot.

Is there a way to see which machine hit it? I am using a bunch of my own miners to solo mine also, as well as rented hash.

Glad I did.  Grin

I feel like I hit the lotto. LOLOLOL

Wow, good timing.  Congrats!

Lesson learned, don't shut down miners early.  Shocked
1920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.11.0 has been released on: July 14, 2015, 10:06:03 PM
New version of bitcoin-qt looks odd - small fonts, ugly icons. Is this something with new version of QT used?

I agree, the new look is horribly ugly, it's all black and white the the icons for incoming/outgoing tx are terrible.

Give me back my colorized lock, connectivity monitor, and check mark!
