The identical balances of my BTC and BTG after the fork:

Hey, how come he already "claimed" his bgold coins?? Not only is he already using a bgold wallet which according to idiots here doesn't exist but on top of that he already has all his btg which according to idiots here shouldn't be possible yet. Wow, what a wizard he must be.

Nope, not a wizard, just a normal non-retarded person. The only little annoyance was that since they logically had to change the block files format it wasn't possible to feed bitcoin db files directly to the bgold wallet (like with bcash), the whole blockchain had to be synced all over again. From a local bitcoin instance it wasn't such a big deal, tho.

Unfortunately, compiling the current client will not work for me. I use a Trezor, and I do not believe the current client is compatible with the Trezor.

The problem with your assessment is that the two major mystery miners(probably two farms run by Jihan Wu) have not moved any of the coins that they mined.

That's very interesting. So they are accumulating and betting on some future pump.

I believe Bitcoin Cash is a vehicle for Jihan Wu to implement his ideas on improving scaling. He does not appreciate Segwit. After all, he now owns the patent on ASICBOOST, and segwit renders that useless. Him and his buddies are involved in Nchain, which is doing research into on-chain scaling, among other things. Furthermore, they "might" try to develop ways to fix the transaction malleability bug with another method, that I am sure would still be compatible with ASICBOOST. Once they can figure out an alternate way to fix the transaction malleability bug, they may also consider off chain solutions to scaling issue.
I think they are accumulating BCH, because Jihan Wu and friends wants to do as much as possible to keep the UAHF alive. After all, Jihan Wu is also selling the latest miner batches for Bitcoin Cash only. Dumping his bags of BCH, at this point, would hurt the viability of his project.
2743  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 29, 2017, 03:59:27 PM
Last few days BTC was oversold. The depth of the markets shows that the demand is rapidly increasing. Moreover at least 1/3 of the miners switched to BCH which is more profitable by 50%. I expected the price would hold during the weekend and probably go up in the next few days. Who knows, may be another ATH is coming?

Since Ver/Wu/Wright own 97% of BCH mining, they can do the following:

1. Mine BCH, wash trade, and accumulate BCH on the down low

2. Switch mining hashrate from BTC to BCH

3. Pump BCH, lock up mining blocks, trade BCH for BTC into the pump

4. Switch hashrate back to BTC, pump BTC

5. Sell traded BTC into the pump, or just hold on to it (making them wealthier).

6. Profit

I contend that BCH is still just a money making scam to them. Sad that anyone would fall for that garbage. They don't want BCH, they want your Bitcoin. You'll see all that here soon, when you see BCH drop and BTC start to rise again.

And don't think for a second that their little operation isn't being "subsidized" by outside elements.

The problem with your assessment is that the two major mystery miners(probably two farms run by Jihan Wu) have not moved any of the coins that they mined.

2744  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Where did my BTC go? on: October 29, 2017, 05:32:13 AM
Thanks guys,

I reset the Jaxx cache a few times. Now I see my BTC in my wallet.

Though, I don’t know yet why it didn’t get confirmed.

was it because of miners and this Segwit2x mess?

Any way, maybe this issue or case proves that blockchain technolology is 100% safe, you never lose your money.  In Fiat transaction, if you made a mistake, it’s up to the receiver to refund you the money, which is not the case with blockchain.

So, remains the question, why it didn’t get confirmation?

Since you checked the "website" and the transaction wasn't logged on the "website", (I'm guessing the website is some kind of block explorer. I don't use the Jaxx Wallet, so not 100% certan what website you are talking about.) I am guessing that your transaction was never relayed to the Bitcoin Network. This can be caused for a multitude of reasons. Either your phone carrier dropped the signal, your internet connectivity has an issue, or your Iphone had a software or hardware glitch. If your transaction did appear on the "website" but it is still  unconfirmed, than it is because your transaction has not been included in a block, yet. The bitcoin network has been congested today.
Furthermore, the blockchain technology is not 100% safe. If you end up sending your BTC to the wrong address, you most probably will never get your BTC back. The reason is because if you make this error, the chances are 99.99xxx..% likely that no one has the private key to the erroneous address. Therefore, no one can refund your money. Also, there is malware out there that changes the clipboard information, so you end up pasting the BTC address of the hacker, not the address that you copied. (Scanning A QR code may be a safer. I'm not aware of malware that can somehow cause trouble with that. But the hackers these days are getting so ingenious.) Always double check the BTC address before you hit send.

Just martingale that shit yo Cool

The Martingale strategy will get you REKT in the end. If you started at .01BTC, after 30 straight liquidations, the next double up margin would exceed the maximum bitcoin supply. Satoshi himself would not be able to double up after 25 straight liquidations.

Just tell me where I can get 100x leverage to go short already Roll Eyes
We both know this won't last.

Or maybe it will. Idk. Srsly. What do I know? Nothing. Obviously.

Good luck.

It's possible on Bitmex. However, they do not accept US customers(there are ways around this) and I do not know if you must meet certain criteria to qualify for the 100x leverage. I've never used Bitmex personally. Just a lot of the traders on Twitter that I follow seem to bring them up a great deal.

So ~1min blocks is not a hyper round

BTC Difficulty jumped up a lot and BCH difficulty lowered creating a more profitable chain and now the miners have raped it of all 2016 blocks in just over a day the EDA will be activated within the next day or two

And yes the EDA was triggered in the previous round due to the huge decline in BCH value compared to BTC

You can't rape the willing.  Grin
2748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Expecting new Desktop in a week with GTX 1070. Worth it to mine? on: October 29, 2017, 12:13:49 AM

if its just one gpu; and not overclocked.... temps are of zero concern.... as long as the case itself is ventilated.

Adding a second GPU; you willprobably expect ~70-75* in a stock closed case.  Which is totally fine.

Phil on this site has a habbit of underclocking his cards, up to 20%... which lowers stress and heat.  Your call if you wish to do that =)  I have several 960 cards that I have run at 80* solid for over a year with minimal downtimes (country living issues).  They are still pretty solid performers and I think I have re-pasted them once.  I am getting ready to retire them for 10 series cards and pop them in my friends' gaming computers so they are finally off the 5 and 6 series cards and seeing more than 25fps in games =)

I am looking at the picture of the case that I will be getting. Both the front and the back panels seem to have plenty of ventilation holes. I don't really see any case fans, though. I assume that the power supply has it's own fan as well as the GPU. The CPU liquid cooling unit also appear to be connected to some kind of fan as well. The case that I will be getting seems much better than the current Dell XPS that I have had for 5 years. Plus the side panel with the window that swings opens appears to be easier to access for cleaning than my current computer. Furthermore, the case dosn't appear jammed packed like my Dell case does. (The dell power supply takes up a lot of room.) Maybe I am thinking the new case is the bees knees because Dell's cases appear to be near the bottom of the barrel.  Cheesy

Good point that people will be warned not to transact during the fork. However, have you taken into account how fast the mempool will bloat up when BTC1x blocks are only mined every 2 hours or more? And remember that there will likely be transactions that people are desperate to do before they get replayed... imagine a scenario where you broadcast a 1x transaction and it gets replayed and confirmed on the 2x chain first... At least some will be playing these dangerous games...

Then those people are fools and deserve to be parted from there money. We have at least two weeks until the hard fork. People should be making there plans now on whether to hunker down or evacuate. Since there is still plenty of time, the most prudent option is to probably evacuate. If the impending fork is getting within 48 hours, the best option is to hunker down. Panicky evacuations at the last moments before the battle or during the battle is the most foolish option of them all. Furthermore, most exchanges are going to freeze up there deposits, trading, and withdrawals during this time. So I have no idea what safe haven the last minute refugees are going to find. Holders of BTC better be asking themselves if they really have the balls to hunker down for quite sometime.

Huge jump in BCH hashpower (+4 Eh, all-time high) over the past few days:

https://fork.lol/pow/hashrate

interestingly, this does not correlate with an EDA adjustment. But it does correlate with the price jump.

Also interestingly, this time it does not correlate with a price crash. Which means that this new hashpower is holding onto their newly-mined BTC.

Pretty much all the BCH miners are holding on most of the used wallets have remain untouched

What is interesting though this time is F2 Pool seems to have moved a huge amount of hashing power over and with them being pro core it's to be seen if they will dump all these accumulated BCH coins for BTC as soon as the hyper round ends

My understanding is F2pool offers the option for the BCH miners to get automatically paid in BTC. You can pretty much expect the dumps to be coming for any coins they mine.

interestingly, this does not correlate with an EDA adjustment. But it does correlate with the price jump.

Since BTC also had a diff increase, the BTC block times/interval are significantly affected. Given that the mempool is jammed again, I wouldn't recommend moving any BTC for the next few days, unless you want to pay $10...

Segwitcoin is already at 85213 Unconfirmed Transactions

If 2X activates, we could see Unconfirmed Transactions increase up to the millions, when would forever require fees in $100 range.

That will effectively end the use of segcrapcoin 1X by the poor and middle class.

Segcrap 1X loses it store of value feature, if it has no utility to act as a payment system.
Expect a 1930s style price crash of segcrapcoin 1X , if 2X activates.

╥Aztek

The mempool is probably not going to increase to the millions. I expect the transaction volume to decline significantly before the expected fork, which will give time for the original chain to catch up. The majority of the people are not going to figure out how to split their coins without replay protection. People are still having a hard time claiming their BCH, and BCH has strong replay protection. The transaction volume will not pick up again until there is either a clear winner, or very easy solutions to splitting their coins becomes available to the general public. While the battle is still ongoing, both segwit chains are going to be next to useless to all but the most technically astute, or fools who are not aware that their transactions are going to played on both chains.

Who would win in a fight: Wu Jihan or Adam Back?

I think Jihan would. He strikes me as more cunning. I think that he would be able to come up with a dirty low blow tactic much sooner than Adam would.

Why did the price go so much up ?

Jitters caused by the upcoming battle of the original chain and segwit 2x. Segwit 2x does have a chance of actually winning this battle. However, that would put the coding in the loving care of Garzik, who is already dividing his attention on some ICO token, Metronome. Is Garzik's scaling solution for BTC going to somehow rely on a ERC20 token? Really?  Cheesy

On a totally unrelated note, alt gold is down to 1% and I haven't even seen any yet. Not the candied apple windfall some of us had hoped for. Embarrassed

I transferred a small portion of my BTC to Yobit before the snapshot, so I was able to dump a little bit at a little less than .09 BTC on the futures market they have there. Unfortunately, they opened the market while I was still sleeping, so I couldn't dump when it was around .15 BTG. However, I really wasn't willing to take a large counterparty risk by leaving coins on Yobit. So my gain was not spectacular, to say the least.
I suspect the main reason for the 1% value has to do with lack of evidence for what the replay protection is actually going to entail. Once the details of the replay protection are made clear, if it is sound, you may see a small price recovery of BTG. Unfortunately, the huge dumping will begin soon after any small recovery.
2756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: October 28, 2017, 07:04:39 PM
If BCC is better than BTC in terms of features than why the price is not even 10% of BTC price

Because the initial distribution went to everyone who owned coins on the original chain. This included those who absolutely wanted little to do with Bitcoin Cash and dumped their BCH as soon as they could figure out how. We should start seeing a turn around at some point. Eventually, the supply will  be distributed to the ones who actually believe in the coin away from the ones who don't want it. There will also be plenty of coins that go untouched by people who are too apathetic to even bother learning how to claim their coins.(It would also be beneficial to somehow figure out a way to stabilize the hash rate to mostly devoted miners, other than the BTC.top farm and the mystery miners' farms. Having chain hoppers who have no real interest in accumulating Bitcoin Cash, is not helping the price at all. Let the chain hoppers contribute to the two segwit chains. Cheesy)
2757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Expecting new Desktop in a week with GTX 1070. Worth it to mine? on: October 28, 2017, 06:35:38 PM
Your system is very high configuration, and you can easily mine with this GPU. But the problem is with one GPU you can't mine more coins, and of course, your electricity bill will be very expensive and if you bought this system for your personal use then don't mine because your system will die very soon. I am also using almost same configuration system, but mine is 3.6ghz and rx580. I am using it to do my animated work not mining any coin. Finally it is up to you.

The most vital components that can fail are the motherboard and the hard drive. I can live with the GPU or the CPU failing, since they are replaceable. The hard drive could fail too, but I  really should invest in an external drive too. Most of the stuff in my music library was purchased from the itunes store, so that is retrievable. However, there is some stuff that I ripped from other people's CDs and downloaded for free that would be difficult to replace.
Could heavy mining contribute to an early motherboard failure?
Since I do not game nor do I do video editing, I feel the GTX 1070 is probably going to be an extravagance if I do not use it at least part time to mine.
I also am pretty familiar with monitoring the temperature of my CPU and GPU since I used to use both rather heavily when I was doing Boinc in 2012 - 2014. If the mining is causing the temperature to rise too much, even after an occasional once over with the canned air, I will abort mission. Also, if I find the sound from my GPU fan is driving me crazy, I will abort mission.

As I am not a native english speaker, i don't really know if i have undrestood everything. Can you help me ? What is the coin max ? And there will be less coins at the begining, right ? The other coins will be mine years after years, right ? How many coins there will be at the end of the ico ? How many coin there will be after one year for example ? Thank you for your help !
The maximum supply will be the same as Bitcoin, 21 million. Bitcoin Gold is no longer an ICO. The Bitcoin Gold team will instamine 100,000 coins before public release. (8000 blocks) There will be 16,642,587.5 coins distributed to those who also owned Bitcoin at block 491,407, on a one for one basis. Therefore, the initial supply on release will be 16,742,587.5. (Many of those coins will probably end up being ignored. Never making it to market. I doubt Satoshi is going to claim his 1000000 Bitcoin Gold. Also, some exchanges have expressed no interest in redeeming the Bitcoin Gold on behalf of their customers.) After the release, there will be 12.5 coins produced every block. So in a year, there will be about 657,000 new coins mned. The next halving will be at block 630000 just like Bitcoin. After that, there will be halvings every 210,000 blocks, just like Bitcoin.

I am more comfortable with Jihan Wu than G.Maxwell and the Banking Cartels any day of the week.

Quite frankly, I'm not comfortable with any type of cartel. That's why I worded my original comment as "pick your poison." Sorry, I find De Beers, OPEC and the Columbian Drug Cartel just as bad as the banking cartel.

And as far as Hash % the Chinese Mining Pools have , they have over 51% on Bitcoin Cash and on Segwitcoin .

If I examined two patients and they both had small pox, I think both would have a rather poor prognosis...

And they both have the exact same check & balance , the economic influence of the people buying and selling the coin
and the regulations of the software that runs on the full nodes.

Although Bitcoin Cash still has the check and balance of the people buying and selling the coin, it does not have the check and balance of the regulations of the software that runs the full nodes, Jihan Wu has very heavy sway on the direction Bitcoin Cash takes when it comes to further software development.

If the above is not enough for you, then you need to find yourself a coin with no ASICS.

Why? What we need is more competition. Surely, making an ASIC isn't so difficult that only Bitmain and Bitfury can manufacture them from this point forward. It would be great if another competitor entered the GPU market as well... (Thank god Nvidia and AMD haven't also created their own mining farms. Not that I am aware of at least.)

I think the fact segwitcoin is failing to perform along with the fact the 2X fork is planning on a death battle of only 1 survivor,
plus the fact the miners may deactivate segwit , really brings to light the flaws of segwit and only a coin not using segwit is safe to keep your money

If Segwitcoin 1x & 2x fight to the death , whichever coin survives will be so damaged in the public eye, it will fall not long after.

Bitcoin Cash will become the premier coin as it is the only true Bitcoin that can come out of the 1x & 2X war without a scratch as neither can hurt Bitcoin Cash.
(Don't forget Bitcoin Cash coins are Safe , because it has no segwit addresses to steal from.)

All segwitcoin 1x & 2X can do is weaken or kill each other leaving Bitcoin Cash to shine brighter than them all.
Has there been a demonstration on a testnet that the segwit coins can indeed be stolen? I may not be from Missouri, but you still need to show me. Such a demonstration would seem to be trivial to produce, if it were indeed possible.

Which is why you are starting to see the Bitcoin Cash Price increase, as many have come to the exact same conclusions.

I will agree that the segwit coin up comming death match has many, including me, on edge. However, there are plenty of other coins to flee to. Which is why the altcoins have also enjoyed a bit of an uplift over the past few days IMHO.

Jihan Wu  & Bitcoin Miners

First of all, Jihan Wu has a virtual monopoly in the mining sector. I am not comfortable having him also control the programming direction of Bitcoin too. Don't you think we need some form of checks and balances? Bitcoin is supposed to be decentralized. Not Bit(main)coin. Also, the other "Bitcoin Miners" only seem to come out in force when Bitcoin Cash is more profitable than Bitcoin. Do you really think chain hoppers are going to bring Bitcoin Cash to the next level?

bitcoin cash is not ICO. this is like bitcoin. if do you want to be a part
you can buy on exchanges and hold it, the price will be increase in the future.

If you happen to own a SHA256 ASIC, you can also mine this. That route is actually cheaper than buying it on the exchange.
