Anyone who has seen the interview with Patrick Beverley? The reporter asks what are his thoughts about playing with Lebron and Davis.

And you'll find it funny with what he has answered. He said, "They're playing with me."  Cheesy

--> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veFBxgrwN6I

That's the video from NBA on ESPN channel on YouTube. I'm not affiliated with them, it has 1M+ subs.

Typical delusional Pat Bev stuff… I really hope he isn’t a starter for them this year.

An article also came out today talking about how Utah sent Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland as payback for him poisoning the team chemistry after Rudy Gobert gave everyone covid. Not a good look for Utah or Mitchell really.
Delusional indeed. Whoever watched that interview would think the same as well Cheesy. At least I laughed a bit with what he said.
He will not be a starter but if his performance will improve, they might put him in the Small Forward position or at least in the Shooting Guard.

He is bragging that they went to the playoffs last year and the Lakers wasn't where in fact, the Lakers won a title 2 years ago and he didn't. Typical Patrick Beverley indeed but he makes me, and other fans and analysts laugh. I'm excited with the Russ-Pat combo Cheesy

On the other hand, I saw some rumors again that MVP team coaches will be shuffled. I don't know how and why but looking on how Coach Luigi Trillio coached the Bolts when Coach Norman Black is still out, I'm guessing that he might be the new coach of NLEX but we don't know since there are no news coming out yet on who will be the next coach of the Road Warriors. Any insights?

Most probably, NLEX does need an experienced coach because they always fall short of their target to be a championship team. However, Luigi Trillo vs Coach Yeng, I think Coach Yeng is the better coach but I don't want to judge because I believe that we should give a new coach a chance to prove himself for at least one season.
I agree but NLEX will still not be a championship team even though they have an experienced coach because their roster isn't enough for the team to be a championship caliber team.

I mean right now, if you want to win a title, you must have a star-studded team like SMB or even TNT who is loaded with players who are very good in our current league. Coach Yeng is more experienced than Coach Trillio but if MVP want Coach Trillio to have more experience in coaching then being with the NLEX is his best option. He coached the Bolts really well, so he deserves that spot but let's wait who will be the next coach of NLEX.

If they continue to do what coach yeng stated on currently happening on PBA for sure those independent team will go away. Alaska already leave the league because for sure they think that its not really good for their organization to continue their campaign in PBA since its been dominated by 2 big companies. Maybe if the commissioner is really serious to make this league fair they should have transparent salary cap so that there's no under the table deal between stars and it will be fair to everyone to have chance to be a contender team.
It will continue and we don't know when it will end. Maybe if we will have a new commissioner or if the salaries will be transparent like you said.

Speaking of transparency, this has been said to the PBA many times already that the salaries of each player must be transparent like in the NBA but they aren't doing anything and I think they will do nothing about it which is kind of sad TBH as a fan because Coach Yeng is right that the league is being dominated by SMC and MVP and those independent teams are being called as "milking teams" where these 2 companies will make an unequal trade to them just to be stronger.

Anyways, as for the list of imports for the next conference, there's no official list yet but only rumors e.g SMB considering Thomas Robinson, former Los Angeles Lakers as their import next conference, Justin Brownlee of Ginebra, etc.
I did a quick google search and I saw a Youtube Video sharing the complete list of PBA Imports this 2022 Commissioners' Cup. Here is the link of the video if you want to watch: LINK
Anyway, here is the complete list of the imports of each team.
Quote
TNT Tropang Giga - Cameron Oliver
NLEX Road Warriors - Earl Clark (NBA)
San Miguel Beermen - Thomas Robinson (NBA)
Magnolia Hotshots - Nick Rakocevic
Brgy. Ginebra - Justin Brownlee
Blackwater Bossing - Cameron Krutwig
Meralco Bolts - Johnny O'Bryant (NBA)
Converge FiberX - Quincy Miller (NBA)
NorthPort Batang Pier - Prince Ibeh
TerraFirma Dyip - Lester Prosper
Rain or Shine Elasto Painters - Daniel Ochefu
Phoenex Super LPG Masters - Kaleb Wesson
The video was posted last week of August 2022 and there might be a chance that this complete list will change. TNT and Ginebra imports are the ones that I think is confirmed as both of them were saw in a PBA Finals game. We've also seen Ibeh and Prosper played in the same team years ago. Most of them are first timers in the PBA and some are former NBA players but like I said, there might be a chance that the list will have some changes. Let's wait for the official article maybe from spin.ph since I'm pretty sure that they will share it.

- DYOR.
This is by far the most important advice, and could prevent 99% of scams that people fall for.
~
That's the best advice any user can give not only here in the forum but on other social media platforms as well.
Problem is people doesn't want to give a portion of time to do some research and they are thinking about the profits that they can get than doing some research first regarding investment schemes/projects or whatever it is.

It's kind of sad to see people getting scammed TBH but like I always say, I believe that people will not learn unless they will experience it. If you got scammed once, you will know what to do in your next investments. Being scammed twice and there's a problem to you already. Doing research isn't hard because we already have "Uncle Google" that will give us all the information that we need. We also have Youtube videos that might help us in our investment journey. I just don't know why people are forgetting about doing research first.

Investors here in crypto world are indeed gullible and can easily tricked by influencers. Lucky for me that I didn't get scammed in my crypto journey, but I feel unfortunate to those who are.

I’m not sure I like the Hornets signing Montrez Harrell. I feel like he got his bag when he left the Clippers and hasn’t been the same since. I don’t suspect any team that signs him is going to get their money’s worth. I don’t think he’s a good pairing with their young run and gun squad either. I guess we’ll see how it goes, but I feel like it won’t go well.
Signing with the Hornets or the Sixers? It's the latter that I'm reading.

It's $5.2 Million for two years with a player option for a 28-year-old center. I don't think that's a bad deal for any team since he can still be useful in player rotations. The Sixers probably thinks he could give Embiid more minutes to rest while he's on the floor. Maybe they're hoping a double-double or close to it for 20 minutes?
It was in the Sixers where he signed and maybe there is a bit of mistake with that post.
https://www.nba.com/news/montrezl-harrell-signs-philadelphia-sixers

After giving Drummond to the Nets in the Harden-Simmons trade, the Sixers really lacked a big at that time and it was Embiid who was their reliable big. Now they are starting to acquire bigs like DeAndre Jordan and now they also got Harrell who isn't tall for a big TBH but a good defender and a former 6th man of the year when he was in Clippers. His stint with the Lakers was the reason why his efficiency went down drastically but I think he can still contribute more to the team knowing how he played when he was in the Clippers. It's a good sign to the Sixers as Embiid will play less minutes.

I'm happy for coach yeng.

PBA: Yeng Guiao returns as Rain or Shine head coach

Quote
MANILA, Philippines—Yeng Guiao is back as head coach of Rain or Shine, a team he steered to two championships in 2012 and 2016.

The Elasto Painters announced Guiao’s return on Monday just days after he and NLEX “mutually agreed to part ways.”

“Now, he returns to coach a new generation of Elasto Painters. Only Gabe Norwood, Beau Belga, and Jewel Ponferrada remain from the ROS team Coach Yeng coached,” the team posted on Instagram.

What are your thoughts about this one, can coach Yeng make ROS a great team again?
I saw them fighting for a championship game before and have won championships, but when coach Yeng leave the team, they are struggling to be in the playoffs.
Snow Badua already gave hints regarding this days before the confirmation happened and TBH, coaching your old team is always good.
The problem that I'm seeing right now is the current roster. When he handled the team a few years ago, it was star-studded and was filled with great players. Now the roster of ROS is composed of rookies and some average players. Well, I'm not judging them by their current roster but that can be a problem for the team as well. Anyway, having a new coach might be a new beginning for the team. Let's see how they will perform in the Commissioner's Cup.

Lately I keep seeing new forum members creating a thread in Bitcoin Discussion section talking about an altcoin.
~
Seeing an altcoin being promoted in Bitcoin Discussion is what I don't see but what I always see is an altcoin that is being promoted in the Altcoin Discussion. Nothing new TBH because I've seen many threads regarding promotion of a certain project or coin.

Does anyone know why this is happening?
Promotion, advertisement and an attempt to scam those newbie investors who are here.
Just avoid new projects, memecoins, shitcoins and those low market cap coins and just focus on the top market cap coins. In that way, you will be scammed way lesser than investing into the ones that I said.

September 21 is the opening of the PBA Commissioners Cup. And as previously announced by the PBA prior to the opening of the All-Filipino Cup, there will be a guest team next conference which is the Bay Area Dragons of the East Asia Super League.

For those who are unaware, Manila will host the EASL next year and PH representatives will be San Miguel Beermen and TNT Katropa.
So, they only have weeks of rest and then the new conference will start again. I heard it from one of the commentators while I'm watching PBA (I think it's Dr. J) saying that Commissioners Cup's opening will be in September and he's right.

Anyway, is there any list of imports from each team already? Just don't include Ginebra because we already know their import. Smiley

ls Bay Area Dragons eligible on joining the playoffs in the PBA? Is there any information about this?
I think they will. I mean what will be their reason of playing in the PBA if they will not join the playoffs.
PBA added them to increase the competition around the league. I think they are eligible because it will be useless for the Dragons if they will play in the PBA and will not be eligible in entering to the playoffs for whatever reason it is.

Guys, today I was visiting some sports/news sites and I read a news article about Chet Holmgren's injury (to be more specific an update on his injury) and it said that he could return to the NBA maybe at the end of the season regular or early playoffs.

As incredible as it may seem, I tried to access this site again to view it more calmly, but it seems that the content was taken down... To be more specific, this news I had read was on the ESPN website.

Has anyone seen any news similar to this about Holmgren's injury!!?
Too risky for me. The word here "could" mean he isn't 100% and if that's the case then it means that he can get re-injured again if they will force him to play.

Look at Klay. He spent 2 years sitting in the bench and working every day for his injury to get healed. Last season when he came back, he isn't the usual Klay where he is scoring more than 20+ but his contributions to the team and their title is still huge. I think it's best for OKC to just let Chet sit for the whole season if he isn't 100% healthy at the end of the season. I think we will agree that OKC will not reach the playoffs this upcoming season, right? I mean they only have young and talented players.

Whether this is true or not, it's best for him and for the OKC to rest him this upcoming season while focusing on his body because that body will not last long knowing how strong NBA bigs are right now.
2771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some say Bitcoin is dead but Bitcoin is not dead on: September 06, 2022, 03:02:18 AM
That "Bitcoin is dead" phrase has been used so many times already to the point that I'm just ignoring it instead of me being stressed and thinking on what my next move will be.

I mean, many already said that phrase and all of them are the ones who either anti-Bitcoins or those so-called economists and rich people who are saying negative things about it, but they are just trying to play with investors' minds so that they can buy it silently.

Reputation towards Bitcoin has been built. Many people are trusting it already and saying that it is dead right now is kind of irrelevant already and not applicable anymore. They can say it, but many will just ignore it and will just focus on accumulating more. Let them say it, in the end they will realize that they can't bring Bitcoin down. Just ignore what they are saying and focus on your strategy.

Wink

2773  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC reach 45k before this year ends. on: September 05, 2022, 05:43:01 AM
Let's make a prediction that whether BTC will hit 45k again.

My prediction for BTC reaching 45k before this end is yes, it will hit at least 40k if not 45k.

I also think it's the best time to buy btc considering you'll get a chance to enter at a good price rather than complaining later on that you missed the "TOO THAA MOON"

No.

I believe that what happened in 2018 will happen this year as well. On that year, it went down, and it remained stagnant for the rest of the year, and we only saw Bitcoin starting to rise the next year. I believe that it will be the same this year because markets have cyclical movement. Federal Reserve is planning to increase the interest rates until the end of the year as well and as we all know, Fed's moves regarding interest rates often is a sign of a negativity to the markets so yeah, I don't expect Bitcoin will reach $45,000 or even $35,000 this year. When the Fed stop increasing interest rates then we might see some good signs that will make Bitcoin's price go high.

What I expect and my prediction is that Bitcoin will remain sideways for the rest of the year between the $20,000 and the $30,000 price range. We might see a false breakout between the 2 prices either going down below $20,000 or going higher than $30,000 but after a few days it will go to that price range again. It's better to accumulate this year if you are a long-term holder.
2774  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 05, 2022, 05:08:18 AM
Celtics lost some firepower for next season as Gallinari has been diagnosed a torn ACL on his left knee. That's a nasty injury and he's likely to miss the entire season. He's not on superstar level but decent role player that can fill up the rotation which the Celtics badly needs.
They still have other free agents right now that might be a good fit for the Celtics.

Melo, Boogie Cousins, maybe Aldridge (he is also a master of perimeter shooting). They can still get these players or pick other ones in the absence of Gallinari. These 3 players that I said played well in their respective teams. Melo had some 20-point games in the Lakers, Cousins had been a big help to the bench of the Nuggets and Aldridge still has his stroke in perimeter shooting (he is shooting 55% last season).

I would like to see Carmelo come back and play another season.  He's got so many great statistics, I don't mind him sticking around a couple extra years to pad them a bit.  He's still a dangerous 3 point shooter and a big body.

I have noticed that Carmelo Anthony's name is always on the verge of not being signed by a team during every off-season. To be fair with Carmelo, he still has great shooting strokes compared to young players nowadays. His catch-and-shoot and post-and-shoot playing style are now more effective as his main offensive tool. Always have Hot hands in the perimeter if given plenty of time.

Although don't expect that Melo will still show high leaping ability nowadays for an obvious reason. I remember when Lebron sets up a play for him and bounces the ball on the board and might expect Canelo to catch and dunk it but instead, Melo just ignores the play. He says in the interview later on that he appreciated what Lebron did on that play. Grin
I don't know why teams aren't trying to sign him where in fact, he got 12.9 PPG & 5.5 RPG last season. That is still a good number knowing that he is coming off the bench.

Unfortunately, like what others are saying, his defense really is a big problem and we've seen players who aren't a priority whenever they aren't that good in defending even though they are doing pretty well offensively. He got 20-point games last season, so I think having him still helps the team offensively. Maybe it's best for Melo to be in a team where they are focusing more on offense like the Warriors.
2775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: September 05, 2022, 02:58:20 AM
Congrats to SMB, to coach Leo and to all of the staff and as well as the fans who have bet for SMB to be the champ on this conference.
Well, that's just like a massacre to the TNT. When I was watching the 3rd and 4th quarter, well, I thought that the lead will be able to reach and covered back by the TNT but they didn't. On the last quarter, those three attempts weren't that great whilst the opposite on the SMB, almost all of the threes were like back to back ins.
TNT still manage to chase the lead in 3rd quarter but in the half part of 4th quarter, it looks like they stop doing good plays and that’s why SMB was able to take a huge lead. Kudos to the whole staff and players of both team for a great championship series, the better team prevails and that is SMB. Lucky to the fans who are also placed a bet, time for a celebration!
From having a 5-point lead going to the 4th quarter to scoring only 8 points in the 4th quarter, it's a total breakdown for the TNT at that time already.
If you watched the whole game, you saw in the 4th quarter that they are shooting threes from everywhere, but it doesn't go in. Three-point shooting for me is a double-edged sword. If you sink your threes, you will win the game but if you keep missing and missing, you will experience what the TNT experienced in the 4th quarter.

I celebrated myself in our house even though I'm only watching alone. I celebrated with my dogs because my team SMB won a championship again Cheesy. The next conference will be starting I think this month as well but correct me if I'm wrong. There are many imports already in the country including Justin Brownlee.

It now makes me think if Mikey "Choke" Williams really deserved that special contract that was worth Million a month.

Back before the PBA All-Filipino Cup commence, TNT is dealing a hard time convincing Mikey Williams to return for the team to play. Mikey is asking for a much big contract and that's the only way he will play again for TNT.

The TNT get what they wanted and Mikey Williams becomes a monster in the eliminations. But at some point when they reached the Semis, he's now begun to show slowing down and inconsistent in some games but still, his team reaches the Finals against the SMB. Mikey becomes much worst at most games in this series that's why I called him Mikey "Choke" Williams. Cheesy Grin
Did you watch the ceremony after the game?
I saw how frustrated Mikey Williams is when they are giving the runner-up trophy to them Cheesy. It's kinda funny how the leader in scoring this conference got exposed by Magnolia and also by SMB.

Regarding if Williams deserve that million contract, I think he still deserves it. I know that this sounds funny but in NBA, there are some players who are given huge contract but can't contribute enough to match how much they paid them. Just see Westbrook for example, the Lakers paid him huge money, but he played awful.

I believe Williams will make some adjustments next season and he will not solely focus on scoring anymore. We saw him passing as well against Magnolia in the Semi Finals so we might see him develop some passing ability after this conference. You can say that he choked in the Semis and in the Finals, but I think the perfect work that will fit for him is "he got exposed" that's why he contributed way lower than his usual numbers.

Game 7 of the Finals should be more intense to watch if TNT were able to give SMB a good competition in the last quarter.
Can't blame them TBH if they choked in the 4th quarter.
.
Coach Chot isn't there because of health and safety protocols, Erram got a Flagrant foul penalty 2, Khobuntin had an MCL injury, Castro still played even though his ankle is still hurting and their three-point shots in the 4th quarter isn't going in. Overall, TNT's chances of winning are way lower because of these and like I said, three-point shooting is a double-edged sword. You sink threes, you win but if you don't then it will hurt you. That Game 7 is still a good game to watch for me and for the 15,000+ who watched Smiley.
2776  Economy / Economics / Re: Working hours | How many are too many? on: September 03, 2022, 09:06:18 AM
How many hours/week is the typical in your country? How many hours are you actually working and how does a 4 day work week sound?

In our country, government employees tend to work at least 40 hours per week and there is no additional payment in overtime which is quite unfortunate. It's base on my experience and what I heard to my friends that are government employee as well. I've been a government employee for 8 months only (because I can't handle the stress) and I don't see myself working with a boss for a long time that's why I didn't even work there for a year.

Now with regards to 4-day work week, it has been proposed here 2 years ago at the middle of the pandemic but unfortunately only a few private companies approved it. I think we will all agree with a 4 day work week right? I mean I don't see any disadvantages to us employees but all positive. More time with the family and lesser stress and lesser stress equals to more happiness and happiness will be spread to all of the people around you.

Unfortunately, there are some people who still working more than 4 days because of the increasing prices of commodities and foods. There are some who are working at day and at the same time working at night just to have money to be used to pay expenses and foods. On the other hand, there are some people who knows how to use a computer that are just working on their home as a freelancer. They are very flexible and they will work whenever they want to.
2777  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Awareness of scam on social media will help reduce scam on: September 03, 2022, 08:47:35 AM
Scammers are very smart on how to get peoples attentions and they are also smart in inventing new strategies that can be so real to easily convince people . My worries is about beginners who are coming up, and if you make research most beginners in crytocurrency and on social media were once a victim to scammers and till date some beginners still fall for scammers.

To me,  the social media would have been the easiest way to fight against scam, to make beginners get aware "the strangers  you meet is at own risk ". This can always be in the mind when one encounter a stranger who want to offer free money or do business, one will have to think how real can it be.

Beginners don't get awareness of scam on social media,  some mostly get aware of scam with personal experience.
Beginners are seeing those different of scams on social media. The problem with them is that, they prefer ignoring it than making a research unto it.

Social media is full of scammers I agree. Platforms like Discord, Facebook, Twitter and Telegram are the ones where scammers are lurking, waiting for their prey which are the newbies. It's very unfortunate to see scammers getting the money of those innocent newbies thru their strategy but like I'm always saying, a newbie investor will not learn unless they will experience it. Getting scammed once is still ok but to get scammed twice then there's a problem to you already.

Overall, doing research before investing really helps an investor be knowledgeable on which are scams and which are not. At the end of the day, as long as there are new investors coming, there will be scammers that will try to scam in their best possible way.

The Lakers today seem to be close to making a deal that will get rid of Russell Westbrook and get them Mike Conley...  I'm not sure how they plan to pull off this wizardry but apparently they're getting close enough for people to be making reports about it.  Granted Mike Conley isn't exactly a young guy either, but his game is less centered around athleticism so it might be a step in the right direction for the Lakers.  Although not ideal...
Mike Conley + players and draft picks. Getting Clarkson again might be a good trade as well.

TBH with how huge the contract of Westbrook is, I also don't know how the Jazz will deal with it and how will the trade talks end but I've read somewhere that the Lakers really want Westbrook to get traded because they see that he doesn't fit to the system of the team. Adding Conley to the Lakers will be a good thing because they will have a legit point guard though he is already past his prime, he can still make some good passes to his players and a good three-point shooter as well. Let's see how this will go or I might be surprised when I wake up in the morning.

So we have game 7, this series is very exciting although it looks like it's already scripted, LOL.
We can speculate that it is and we can't. In the end, as a PBA fan, I think let's just enjoy the entertainment that they are giving to us.
For me, I already knew that there will be Game 7 because more games = more revenue for the league and take note that it's Sunday and many people will watch their favorite team trying to win that title.

~
Enciso and Lassiter with Peres, Tau and the main guy Fajardo, all are needed to perform with everything that they can give on this upcoming game 7.

"Kampihan Na!"
When you are seeing SMB to score 40 points in a single quarter and those three point shots sinking in, you knew already that they will win.

Anyway, you are right that they needed the offensive power of these players in order for them to win the title. It's a do or die game for them and I hope that they will repeat their performance in Game 6. Fajardo didn't contribute much on that game or I mean it wasn't the usual Fajardo that we saw that is dominating the paint because the guards are the one who is dominating.

It's a good thing for Jayson Castro that he didn't force himself to play as that might result in a much worst condition. Poy Erram also limits his playing time by 19 minutes which can give him a break from his own sprain injury. Much better if he didn't play instead of somehow being in full healthy status on Game 7.
They needed him in Game 7 now and that's their advantage being up 3-2. Aside from Castro, Ryan Reyes also dislocated his shoulder in Game 4 and not 100% and Khobuntin will  not play in the whole series because of an injury. These 2 players are contributing so much to the team especially Khobuntin which is an all around player. Erram fouled out himself in the 11 minute mark of the 4th quarter last game so yeah I agree with what you said that it's for the sake of his injury.
2780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fed policy on Bitcoin worries investors, how do you react? on: September 02, 2022, 09:14:42 AM
The price of Bitcoin and a number of other crypto assets has been observed to weaken over the past 24 hours amid investor anxiety about the US Federal Reserve's hawkish policies.
My question is: can Bitcoin bounce back at its Psychological level?
It's not only crypto market that are affected with the Fed policies but even the US Stock market as well.

I've watched some youtube videos and I will agree with them that we might see a stagnant market this year whether it will be stock market or crypto market. Now with regards to Bitcoin bouncing back at it's psychological level, it depends on what is your psychological level because I think that term is very broad and general and different investors have different psychological levels.

Overall, I will just say that Bitcoin might be going sideways between $20,000 and $30,000 until the end of the year. Just don't expect that something good will happen with the crypto market because the Fed already said that they will continue to increase the interest rates until the end of the year and that means negative sentiment to the investors.
