Wait, a US doctor just left it in there?! I have an idea. This will require professional help (an actual doctor). DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!

Your eyeball need to be removed from it's socket. Not enough to pull out the optic nerve, but enough for them to grab the contact from the back of the socket.

... WTF lol Yeah, I won't be trying that at home anytime soon.

And yeah, they left it in there.  I've been reading online and apparently one lady had it in there for 5 years, others a few weeks/months...

This really makes me want lasik surgery.
Been reading a little here. Saw the 5 year thing, so I guess you might have already visited this: http://www.aclens.com/forums/toast.asp?sub=show&action=posts&fid=8&tid=1091

This sounds like a good idea:
Quote
The only thing that has ever worked is laying on your back and adding drops to your eyes. The air bubble will automatically bring the contact lens back to the top-keep a mirror next to you so you can keep checking under the lid of your eye so that when you see enough of it you can grab it enough to take out. Be patient it works it just takes time.

Do you live in the USA?

Yes, I live in the USA.  And yes, that's where I read the 5-year thing.  Believe me, I've spent about 4-5 hours trying virtually everything I can think of with no luck, including everything listed on that forum.  I even suspended my head upside down for 15 minutes to see if gravity is the force it claims it is.  It isn't.
2762  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'll Make You Cringe on: May 16, 2012, 07:34:49 PM
THIS is why I don't wear contacts.

Honestly, it's the idea of it being back there that really gets to me more than anything else.

It doesn't hurt.  It feels a little...odd, and its definitely red around the edges and it's tearing still, though it's tolerable.

The biggest problem for me is that I still play sports competitively and glasses absolutely do not cut it for sports, and I'm very afraid to put another contact in there at the moment.  I'm also afraid to get any kind of dirt in there that could attach itself to the lens and cause an infection.

don't worry.

one day, with a lot of hard work and visits to coinad.com, you will have > 3 bitcoin.

lmao

This is getting rather disturbing.  It's been stuck back there for over 12 hours now.  Woke up with my eye practically sealed shut from it tearing constantly overnight.  It's a bit better at the moment but seriously...where the hell is this thing!?

Edit:  Is there a doctor in the house?

2768  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-05-15 forbes.com - Another Bitcoin Theft at Bitconia on: May 16, 2012, 07:01:33 AM
We need a site to refer all press persons to (do it with some clever SEO).

In big, red letters, tell them to investigate Bitcoin for at least 6 months before writing a single word about it.

At the same time, we as a community can learn something from this ignorance.  I'm sure he won't be, and equally sure he hasn't been, the only financial or technology analyst to completely miff the concept behind Bitcoin.

The question is, what can WE do to really make things more clear for people to help them understand more quickly and more accurately?
Yes, putting my sarcastic comments aside, I would agree that this is a real problem that should be addressed.

Maybe on some of the more popular sites (weusecoins, for example), a link/page could be dedicated to "Press".  On said page, it bullet-points common misconceptions about Bitcoin that have been prevalent in the past.
- Bitcoin is not a fiat currency.
- Bitcoin rules cannot be changed at the whim of a single person.
- The Bitcoin system itself is secure and unhackable - it is the people who leave their servers/computers unsecured that are at fault.
- Etc, etc, etc.

I think this is a good place to start:  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Myths

But, at the same time, I think this could use some updating, condensing, and articulating.

Some ideas:

1)  What Bitcoin is versus what it is not
2)  Compare/contrast Bitcoin to other types of currencies (fiat, precious metals, other digital currency attempts)
3)  A Bitcoin Timeline highlighting significant events with concurrent explanations
4)  Links to press articles that got it dead wrong with concurrent explanations

2770  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tradehill not sending back my 1000 BTC? on: May 16, 2012, 05:47:50 AM
Hi,

I've been trying to get my 1000 BTC back from tradehill since they died, but they have not replied.
Anyone know what to do?

Anarchy.

Have you sent an email to info@tradehill.com? I honestly don't pay much attention to PM's here if that was all you sent. It's not a secure way of verifying your account.
If you haven't please do. If you have I'm working on them right now and I'll be on them more tomorrow. I hope to be completely caught up tomorrow.

Take your loss like a man...?
As we all did..
Most of us got our money/btc back, and your post is at best unhelpful.

I don't think anyone needs to "take their loss like a man" (other than me) and I'm not asking them to
I've got a few more people to pay back but 99% of my clients have their money back. If I were going to run I would have done it when the accounts were full.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to run off with a few thousand when you can run off with millions if you're the scammer type.
I'd like to have finished this a long time ago but we're almost there now.

Thanks for everyone that has been patient. This has been an extremely drawn out process which was complicated by the unfortunate timing of the Linode hack.
Email info@tradehill.com if you have any further issues.

Regards,
Jered

Jesus Christ, you're STILL working on this??  I mean that in a good way.

Jared, I'm truly impressed.  I'm sorry for ever having doubted you in any way after shit hit the fan for TradeHill.

I'm sorry, I don't usually indulge in schadenfreude, but I am imagining you with red and tearing eyes, slouching through your front door, fumbling, stumbling, and mumbling to yourself, "...and I can't even rest yet because I got to see what new disaster's going on at the rackin', frackin' bitcointalk forum..."  Cheesy

Well, I do have priorities you know  Cheesy

Now, time to piss off my roommate and scatter puss on all the doorknobs.
2772  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'll Make You Cringe on: May 16, 2012, 02:31:21 AM
Friend of mine had that happen, but he had "hard" contacts instead of the usual soft ones, so after a bit of messing around it came out. Yours is probably all bunched up behind your eye lol.

Yeah...like the retarded flapjack that didn't make the heap.
2773  Other / Off-topic / I'll Make You Cringe on: May 16, 2012, 02:27:09 AM
So, my contact rolled up into the back of my eye today.  I was typing at my computer when I had an itch in my left eye.  I closed my eye, rubbed it casually, and realized that I could no longer see out of that eye.

I went to the bathroom and lifted up my eyelid while looking every which way for the damn thing.  It was nowhere to be found.  I rinsed it on and off for 2 hours from multiple angles using the sink faucet and the shower head.  I gently rubbed the corners of my eyeball while looking in all directions -- still, no visible evidence of a contact...but I could still feel it tucked up there, way back in the top-left corner.

I went to urgent care (no health insurance as I graduated literally 1 week ago...what are the odds?).  They had me lay down, and gave me some drops to numb my eye.

Then out came the pliers.  One nurse took a pair of pliers and wrenched my top eyelid back and flipped it inside out.  Another nurse did the same with my lower lid.  The doctor took a swab and poked under each eye lid and gently massaged my eyeball to try to coax the contact to come out.

After 5 minutes of searching, they tried the same tactic using a florescent dye and an ultraviolet light to try to illuminate the contact to make it visible.  Again, they failed.

Four hours later, my contact is still there, all tucked away and rolled up in the back of my eye.

Awesome fucking night.  Killer.
2774  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MT.Gox will not release over $26,000 USD on: May 15, 2012, 11:33:37 PM
I don't even use Gox, and reading this pissed me off entirely.  I'm considering starting a petition thread to boycott Gox unless they bite the bullet and hire a competent customer service team that is available 24/7.

Fuck you, Gox.  And fuck you, Karpeles, with your ugly face.  Take the mask off your operations and put it on that honkin' beezer.

I’ve never been all that enthusiastic about Bitcoin: it seems to me to fail a number of the necessary prerequisites of a successful fiat currency.
...

Fiat currency?  Is this guy retarded?
2776  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: May 15, 2012, 09:10:59 PM
Looks like my questions may be answered sooner than I thought - silver and gold are getting annihilated while bitcoin is stable. I just stumbled across this article as well:

Thats not really true..  BTC and gold over the last 2 months have declined almost the exact same amount.   and if you look at the chart for the last 12 months, btc is anything but stable whereas gold has been trading in a fairly narrow range.

i've let you pick the beginning of this thread as a base for OUR comparison but don't hold him to that.

why don't we pick the mid November low in Bitcoin @ $2 and compare to gold from there?

Or pick the high in BTC of $30 Wink..

touche.

Its been all over the place the last 12 months, gold has traded from ~1500-2000 a nice stable range..

OTOH, you gotta admit its been pretty impressive since November. Wink

Gotta love confirmation bias.

gensen,

Skimming through your posts, it seems as if this isn't the first problem you have had with customers.

I would like to see a screenshot of the email you sent to WillTurner.

Will Turner try to contact me trough the comment from my website! This i only update and look to ones a week

Kind Regards Genni

Gensen,

You mentioned in a post above that you sent an email to WillTurner that read as follows:

Dear Will

I see your e/mail now i was in the spam box, i also so see your comments on the website, I must have missed your order, but like you are already noticed i missed it completly because the voucher was still valid, else you had your Coins. (If i wanted to scamm you the vouchers where used)

I apologize for the inconvenience

Do you have a screenshot of this email with the time and date visible?

I try to upload a image whit no succes!? i can replay it to you if you like?

Try www.tinypic.com --> upload --> copy/paste the code for images....it will look something like this:

I am asking for this because Will claims you have not responded to emails and you claim that you sent him one.  If we can see that the date/time at which you sent this email was prior to Will's posting on the thread, it will give you some credibility.

2780  Bitcoin / Pools / Bitcoinica is a pool now? on: May 15, 2012, 04:52:34 PM
www.Bitcoinwatch.com

Any reason that the pie chart indicates that Bitcoinica has ~5% of the network hashing power?

Is this site even that reliable anymore?
