281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Spot ETFs hit $10 Billion milestone just one month after approval on: February 12, 2024, 06:57:09 PM
It is quite unfortunate that such a huge amount of investment did not come to the Bitcoin market directly, rather it had been directed through the centralised entities. If this pace continuous, these corporates can easily out perform the retail investment segment. Probably that will mark and end to the decentralised nature of Bitcoin.

I was never much comfortable about this week corporates buying into Bitcoin. With their money power they can become the dominant players in the market and can manipulate the market as per their wish.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do cryptocurrency increase the standard of living on: February 12, 2024, 06:49:17 PM
Knowing fully well that there is so many uneducated people around the world, how can cryptocurrency increase the standard of living

It doesn't! But it gives an opportunity to do so. Historically if I look at Bitcoin, it has out performed any other asset classes in the world. That's where the opportunity is. If someone can systematically invest in Bitcoin over a longer period of time, the potential amount of return can provide an opportunity to the investor to increase the standard of living.

However, don't take my reply as an investment advice and do your own research to understand the downside before investing.
283  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC or Love on Valentine's day. What's your pick? on: February 11, 2024, 03:37:51 PM
I have seen a couple of friends received amazing gifts from loved ones during Valentine's period but I haven't given one neither have I received because I don't really celebrate Valentine perhaps because I haven't been in love before🙄.

My friends came up with an idea to take some time off this year and travel  to carrebean inland to catch fun and perhaps, I might find Mrs right in the course of the holiday but with BTC on a bullish move, I feel taking a whole week out of trading is a crazy idea even though the rest is needed.

Is there any trading event I can leverage on while on holiday so I can catch fun and earn at the same time.

Life is not about earning money always. If you earn money and don't spend it, what's the use of that money?

Travelling is one of those activities which gives you happiness. So don't care too much about Bitcoin's bullish moves. With halving round the corner, this bullish move will continue for some time. Just carry a laptop with you and trade during your free time. That might give you some earnings.

I am not sure about your age. But I am currently at an age where "all work and no fun" doesn't make sense at all.
284  Local / India / Re: CoinDCX CEO expects crypto tax to be reduced after 2024 election. on: February 11, 2024, 03:33:32 PM
We can only speculate here.

But putting in some logical facts together, since the government has blanket banned the crypto exchange URLs via the ISPs, a bigger ban is going to be official some time soon, my guess would be through the next budget.

Bad days come before good, we can just hold on through the storm.

It's true that we can only speculate here! However, this speculation is based on certain facts.

1. RBI is strongly opposing cryptocurrency circulation in India. In multiple interviews, the governor had expressed his thought.
2. In the past, a committee led by Subhas Chandra Garg, recommended punitive actions against crypto users.
3. The current tax rate is 30% which is nothing short of publishment.

Looking at these above facts, the chance are very slim for cryptos to become legal in India. But yes, it's a speculation as you have mentioned.
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano vs Ethereum on: February 11, 2024, 10:21:39 AM
I don't think Cardano will ever be able to replace ETH. ETH is the second largest cryptocurrency after Bitcoin. It has a very very loyal customer base. Also if I look at the return, it has outpaced all other cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin. It also has a very active development team with Vitalik leading from the front.

Also the major reason what I feel is that, ETH is the pioneer of smart contracting feature. Many other cryptocurrencies were launched after seeing the success of this smart contracting feature which ETH had introduced. It's nearly impossible to replace a Pioneer.
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will it have positive/negative on bitcoin development? on: February 11, 2024, 10:15:22 AM
I was reading an article this morning and I saw on it, there is an ongoing legal battle between a computer scientist Craig Wright claiming to gain control of the intellectual property behind the digital currency bitcoin.
Source
I'm having these thoughts  because since the creation of Bitcoin, Bitcoin has recorded massive and rapid growth since it's developement. The developer, developed it and made his identity unknown. However, what will be the impact ( positive/ negative) on Bitcoin if the developer of the decentralised cryptocurrency bitcoin is known.

It really doesn't matter what is the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin is decentralized which essentially means that a single person will not be able to make any arbitrary changes in the algorithm. Every change needs to go through a consensus. If 51% of the Bitcoins miners agree to it, that change will become a part of the algorithm. Remaining 49% may choose to fork out of the network if they do not agree to the change.

So honestly we don't care about the true identity of the mysterious creator of Bitcoin. That is the benefit of a decentralized network.
287  Local / India / Re: CoinDCX CEO expects crypto tax to be reduced after 2024 election. on: February 09, 2024, 12:48:44 PM
It is pure speculation!

Even though I am speculating as well, I am fairly confident that the crypto tax is not going to change even after election or even in 2025. The current government is not much favourable towards cryptocurrency and they do not want to encourage Indians to get into that. Otherwise they wouldn't have imposed 30% tax.

So clearly I do not see it happening. Rather I see more compliance norms are coming our way after the election.
288  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is social trading in crypto? Do you EVEN use them? on: February 09, 2024, 12:31:26 PM
I have watched YouTube and learnt about crypto & BTC stuff.
Recently, I heard people talking about Crypto Social Trading Platforms.
I know about Copy Trading, but I have not found any thing about Social Trading.

What are these and Do you use them for crypto?

Social trading is not much different than copy trading. In social trading you will be following a trader and copy his trades in anticipation of making profit. I see one of my fellow forum mates has given a list of social trading platforms for you to explore. But from my occasional trading experience, I can say it is better to control and decide your own trade rather than following anyone else.

I have personally invested couple hundred dollars in copy trading but always lost money. So I would suggest you to invest when you can afford to loose.
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought FBTC in my 401k. First time ever holding crypto for retirement. on: February 09, 2024, 11:05:15 AM
I have a feeling that the wide availability of Bitcoin ETFs will herald one of the longest and most stable bull markets for Bitcoin that we have seen to date. I've always invested in BTC using a private wallet but with Fidelity's offering I feel fairly safe and confident putting a portion of my 401k into it. I had to check a few boxes that I accept the risk but other than that Fidelity authorized the transaction.

I assume your pension fund is going to be a very long term investment for you. As I don't know your age I am assuming this. Historically we have seen, Bitcoin has given a very very good return during long term investment. So I am fairly confident that your investment into Bitcoin through your pension fund will give you the highest return compared to all other asset classes.

Also I believe your pension fund is going to be tax free when you will reach your retirement age. If that is the case then you should be in a good position.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Concern Regarding the Future of Bitcoin and Crypto Industries ! on: February 08, 2024, 08:32:12 PM
If I am not wrong, I believe in 2019, a Florida court had passed a judgement in favour of Craig about the ownership of Bitcoin. I do not remember seeing much impact on the Bitcoin market due to that decision.

I am optimistic now as well. Bitcoin will not be impacted if the court decides that Craig is the Satoshi. Bitcoin is decentralized so it really doesn't matter if someone wants to change something. Every decision within network has to reach consensus. Craig cannot make arbitrary changes and the crypto market doesn't give a shit about what a court in London thinks.
291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How's problem gambling different from compulsive gambling. on: February 08, 2024, 10:45:29 AM
For me, compulsive gambling is very similar to problem gambling. I mean technically they could be different, but in reality both works similarly! Both are psychological disorders and both needs psychological treatment.

Also people need to understand, that gambling is not a method of making money. It is just an adult's way of entertainment. So if someone is gambling so that he could make a living, he is doing it all wrong. I don't know if the slot players are long time losers, but in order for a gambling house to survive, the house always has to win.
292  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New SEC Requirement for DEX Liquidity Providers on: February 08, 2024, 10:36:50 AM
What is this bullshit? Registration under the rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission means submitting documents, identification papers, revealing identity and all other details, as well as providing proof of the source of funds, etc. This is completely inconsistent with the concept of DEX. Who will surrender their neck to the sword of the American government?

Now liquidity providers have two options: either operating underground illegally or fleeing to a place outside the authority of the US government.

Gary thinks he can turn DEX into central banks under government control, this guy is getting so funny I think he needs a psychiatrist!!!

Well, that's what exactly the US government wants! They have been chasing the cryptocurrency market and the participants since a long time now and this one is just a new addition to their arbitrary rules. But I really doubt that decentralized exchanges will comply to the rule. Because if they do so, they will be forced to submit their users data to the government. In summary, decentralized exchanges will have to become a centralised exchange. That is directly against the idea of a decentralized exchange.

I think they can move to crypto friendly countries like Singapore. Their door is always open for new businesses.
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VanEck, GrayScale, Fidelity and others Now on Google Ads. on: February 07, 2024, 12:44:10 PM
As long as Google verifies the advertiser before allowing such advertisements to run on their platform, I do not see any issue. But the problem with Google ads is that they don't properly verify everything for advertisements. So a lot of scammer uses this platform to push their own agenda or plan to siphon out money from common people's pocket.

If verification is done properly and if Google is able to established the legitimacy of the advertisement, it is a net positive.
294  Economy / Economics / Re: "Shrinkflation" is coming back as a narrative on: February 07, 2024, 11:57:35 AM
Shrinkflation - it is not a new term in economics. There is always two sides to a story.

Money printing - floods the market with new money supply effectively bringing down the purchasing power of money.

Effect on the companies - in a competitive market, when the purchasing power of money goes down, the companies struggle to maintain profitability if they sell a certain product at the ongoing price point. When increasing price is not an option due to steep competition, they reduce the size/quantity of the product. That's what it is.

The government will always play such games to pass on the blame.
295  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Im so new....Please can someone help me? on: February 06, 2024, 06:46:36 PM
Im not sure if I am been scammed and dont understand the terminology. I had an AI generated account with Benchmark. I have gained some profit and wish to withdraw, the transaction has been sent and confirmed and has a block number but is not showing in my wallet (TAP Account) i have now received an email to say that a company called Blockchair are holding the funds as I need to complete a Liquidity check as this is my first transaction but to do this i have to put 21% of the value of my transaction into my tap account and buy bitcoin, once this is done and verified then the funds will be returned to my personal account. I this actually a thing?

In summary, you have been scammed.

Not sure what do you mean by TAP account. Can you please explain?

Blockchair is a block explorer website and doesn't provide any wallet service. So it's not possible for them to hold your fund in any way.
296  Local / India / Re: Beware! Gov Planning a Cracks Down on Crypto Traders Evading Binance Ban on: February 06, 2024, 06:11:17 PM

If you are still using Binance for crypto to fiat transactions then stop doing it right now. The government is in talks with the banks to identify those bank accounts where fiat was credited from Binance P2P. In the worst case scenario, those bank accounts will get frozen and account holders will be punished legally. If you have funds in that account then it is better to withdraw funds ASAP and keep the account balance nil. Do not transfer funds to another bank account as they will freeze as they can trace the trail of money.

Once the government finds out your one account, they will be able to find out all other accounts you are holding. So it really doesn't matter whether you want to keep one of your account balance zero or weather you do not send any fund from one of your accounts to your other account. Every single thing is linked with your pan card and that's exactly the information your government needs.

It's really concerning to see that Indian government is refusing to use a new technology which surely will benefit all of us.
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please stop asking for "legal tender status" on: February 06, 2024, 04:50:32 PM
I think a lot of people misunderstand what "legal tender" means.

Legal tender means that the government forces everybody to accept Bitcoin whether they want to or not.

Totally wrong! Legal tender means that government recognises a certain method of payment/currency as legal in their own jurisdiction. A country can have multiple legal tenders which means they can have their own fiat currency active while also recognising Bitcoin as a legal means of payment.

There are multiple countries where Bitcoin is not yet a legal tender but there is only a handful of countries where Bitcoin is considered as legal tender. Now a government can choose whether to force a certain method or not.
298  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF on: February 05, 2024, 07:04:38 PM

Do you think that overnight/weekend gaps from the ETF are potential trading opportunities? In my mind there should be huge gaps, if for example the bitcoin price changes a lot over the weekend.

I don't think so that the gaps over the weekend will become a trading opportunity. Because the ETF companies are smart enough to understand that Bitcoin market is available and operating 24/7. So they can understand that there will be price differences during the weekend closing and Monday morning. They can very well choose to block any purchase or sell request occurred during weekend.

299  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: German Police Seizes Record 50,000 BTC Worth $2.17B in Major Piracy Case on: February 05, 2024, 06:27:29 PM

Europe is catching up with America in terms of confiscated Bitcoins.

That's fine! I am sure that as a common bitcoin user, you would not want such criminals to be a part of the network. So with every criminal scot Bitcoin network is getting cleaned a bit. Definitely it is a good job done by the German police by catching the criminals and by confesticating the Bitcoins. Doesn't matter how decentralize the network is, criminals are not welcome.

So let Europe catch up with America in this matter because it is for the greater good of the Bitcoin network.
300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who says Tesla initiated last bull run is wrong on: February 05, 2024, 06:13:45 PM
Elon didn't caused the Bull run, rather he contributed to it. Given the nature of the Bitcoin market, it is almost impossible for a single company or a person to manipulate the price to a great extent. The Bull run was a cumulative effort of many people or organisations. There was also a great amount of positivity around the market due to halving as well.

Also if I am not wrong, Elon wanted to promote Doge over Bitcoin and he was succeeded to a great extent. Elon himself made millions using the influence of his Twitter account.
