We have to admit that Djokovic is not the same recently many gamblers lost their bets because of him he showed really poor performance on the first and last sets he lost at least a set in all his games in belgrad atp which is unusual for him i hope he get better soon i think he can give more to tennis.

We need to understand that Djokovic has played only a few matches this year and that he is not completely ready yet.
Due to the vaccination situation, Covid Đoković could not play in many tournaments, and therefore he is not at the right level yet.
Probably everything that happened in Australia psychologically affected him as well.
I expect his level of play to rise slowly and he will be fully ready for the GS in Paris.

This tournament would have been important for Djokovic as its a home tournament
but I would say his sights are set on Roland Garros, If he gets some more matches
under him he will be fairly close to fighting fit.

Great win by Alcaraz having played his semi final on the same day. I have to say
though de Minaur gave a great account of himself to come fairly close in the semi.

^ Thats interesting and a bit random. Is that played every year between the Dragons and
Roosters? The game itself between the Dragons and Roosters was definitely a game
of two halves, Dragons only to score in the first half, 14loints and the Roosters to only
score in the second half, finishing
up 14-12.

The Storm met the Warriors with a tornado, 70-10

2823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First African country adopts Bitcoin as official currency on: April 25, 2022, 06:25:24 AM
~ Everyone knows I am a skeptic and have speculated these countries accepting bitcoin as legal tender are only doing it for publicity. However, I am presently not certain of this anymore hehe.
Understandable. They probably do not have the technology yet to fully implement this.

To be honest, I didn't know that such country exists in Africa (no offense to those who live there). Upon looking it up, it seems they do not have their own local currency just like El Salvador and also a country trying hard to recover economically. Bitcoin won't solve all their issues but it might attract some foreign investors and tourists.

Good point, whatever struggles economically exist in the country, its difficult to see
how Bitcoin can solve these in the short term. If they generally speaking need to transfer
funds, Bitcoin will be a benefit.

The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Chad to the north, Sudan to the northeast, South Sudan to the southeast, the DR Congo to the south, the Republic of the Congo to the southwest, and Cameroon to the west. Source : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_African_Republic

They do have their own local Fiat currency ==> Central African CFA franc (XAF), Bitcoin (XBT) and they have +/- 4.83 million (2020) people living in that country.

Let's hope this spreads to the rest of Africa and that it will replace digital currencies like MPesa in Africa.... if all of this is true.  Roll Eyes

https://cryptotips.eu/en/knowledge-base/what-is-the-abbreviation-xbt/  <=== Explains XBT

If some other neighbouring countries can make the same move maybe they will strengthen
each other rather than a single country on its own.

But still the big issue exists, for example, how does the country grow financially
today after adopting Bitcoin yesterday so to speak?

In the case if El Salvador they know that much the same problems exist even after
adopting Bitcoin, creating a Bitcoin City creates a big economic opportunity.

Hopefully by the end of round 7 I'll be 6 from 7! but with the URC thrown in its not
great weekend for my Rugby betting unfortunately.

The Eels had to redeem themselves from last weeks beating, unfortunately it
was the Knights that were at the receiving end.

unbeaten so far and a massive points deficit built up.
2826  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: April 24, 2022, 04:46:37 PM
How the fuck is Russia going to replace the European market?
Russia has two options:
1. China - After Saudi Arabia, Russia is the second-largest gas & oil supplier for China.

Before anyone even starts thinking of it, here is an article from the South China Morning Post, the arm of the English language propaganda of the CCP
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3172028/russian-gas-sales-china-will-not-make-loss-european-markets

Short story:
Quote
Russia exported 16.5 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas to China in 2021 via pipelines and in the form of liquefied natural gas.
However, Russia is exporting about 170 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas to the European markets every year and the prices for the two buyers are “dramatically different”, according to Mitrova. When the line is in operation by 2026, the annual supply of pipeline natural gas from Russia to China will rise to 48 bcm, nearly five times the 2021 figure.

Russia can only sell 10% of the gas it sells to Europe to China, there are not enough pipelines, and even the ones in construction expected to be finished 4 years from now will only have 1/3 of the capacity.
As for selling gas to India, good luck, there is no such thing even in construction.

As for oil, it doesn't even matter, all that Europe has to do is outbid others, let's see who can afford gas at 3 euros, the EU or Africa or South Asia.

So its all about infrastructure, which can only hold a certain capacity. This probably
goes for Europe also, is the infrastructure with suitable capacity in place to increase
supply from alternative sources?

A Russian gas ban wont be good for either Russia or Europe. Europe has pledged to
wean its self from Russian gas but I suspect it will be a gradual process
2827  Economy / Economics / Re: CBDCs really worth it? on: April 24, 2022, 09:23:36 AM
We all know that stablecoins are basically pegged with fiat currency in a 1:1 ratio, and we also know that stablecoins are extremely popular when trading cryptocurrencies because their transactions are cheap and fast, and bypass banks. This means that governments want to become competitive with their fiat in the sense of turning it into a CBDC, otherwise they could lose the race with stablecoins and Bitcoin.
The government approach is not excellent at all, or maybe of how I see CBDCs, my country created one already and I see no good need for it than to use our fiat, the CBDC created by the government in my country has its own digital wallet but not on multicoin crypto wallet, it was said that it was not even a cryptocurrency, it can not be used on exchanges ornbenstored using keys generated on crypto wallets. Government suppose to create a kind of CBDCs that can compete with USDT and other stable coins on crypto exchanges which is what the governments should do, not CBDCs that are not cryptocurrencies that have no way to compete with stable coins. Assuming the governments have their own stable coin that are cryptocurrencies, people will prefer to use it compared to using USDT and others that are just created by private companies. As USDT dominates stable coins, it can even still be freezed on noncustododial wallet. The government are taking a wrong approach in my opinion as CBDCs are just totally fiat and nothing specially added.

It seems like a pointless venture, to create CBDC's in the first place and secondly if they indeed
want to compete with the likes of USDT its not going to happen unless it can have the same
exposure as USDT.

I already use FIAT in a digital way as in I rarely use Cash, I use my smartphone and card to
pay digitally for goods, I also have a digital FIAT wallet on my smartphone.

Maybe the CBDC's are designed to bring force mote people onto a digital platform?

Emma Raducanu has won back to back matches for the first time in a while, in her first proper tournament on clay, and has now reached the quarter final stage, where she will play... Swiatek!

I'm English so of course want Raducanu to win, but it seems hugely improbable, this one looks like it could easily end up with Swiatek winning 6-0 6-0.

If you really think she could win 6-0 and 6-0, it might be worth looking up a bet there. I think you'll be pretty rich if that actually happens. 6-0, 6-0 are results that you rarely see. or you must have placed the number 1 against a qualification for example. But even then, a game is usually won. Or there must be an injury.
Nobody losses 6:0 6:0 while injured. Even if you have minor injury you will forfeit rather than stand on turf embarrassing yourself and risking even more serious injury.

Raducanu has strong shots and I feel like she will get few games for sure but probably not gonna cover handicap. This is first season she even plays on clay so Swiatek is enormous favorite. Perfect match to skip, better opportunities elsewhere.

Yes, I will be skipping it. Swiatek is the overwhelming favourite, but I think the betting odds are not overwhelming enough in her favour... it is pretty pointless betting on Swiatek. I do think 6-0 6-0 is a genuine possibility, but whilst it could happen, I agree it's not the most likely result, so won't be betting on it.

Thats 21 wins in a row for Swiatek, you would have to bet with handicap on her really.

Found this on Instagram this morning, thats remarkable!

We watched the match last night, Tsitsipas v Alcaraz, what a great Tennis spectacle
it was, Alcaraz used his "drop shot" skill to his advantage, for me it was the most notable
play of the match.

Tsitsipas lost the cool, tried to hit Alcaraz with the ball after losing the first set, went
off court twice and got 2 time penalties, insulted the chair umpire ...and lost the match.
Great watch!

Last night's game between the Broncos and Bull Dogs was entertaining enough - by the twenty minute mark the Bull Dogs were winning 10 - 0 and at half time, the Bull Dogs were still leading 10 - 6.

After the break, the Broncos ploughed on the points.  With ten minutes to go I was thinking to myself the Broncos need to score again just to rub it in - and they did with five minutes on the clock, they won the game 34 - 14

Yea, what a finishing scoreline, we both had the Broncos to win, I was watching the
scoreline and was a bit fearful at the break, you just never know with the Broncos.

I havent seen that tournament listed.

10 years is quite a long time to try and develop the professional game, why are players
still amateur? is there not enough finance in the game?

The most famous Argentinian player in my country is Felipe Contepomi who played #10
for Leinster and scored 1225 points over 6 years. He is still currently with Leinster as a coach.

I'm guessing, move out of the nation? But to what other nation?

Portugal or Germany for example have zero tax on crypto but you have to be resident
for 12 months (something like that)

Like looking on the blockchain and seeing so many btc millionaires hardly doing much with their btc. Like, they got it long long ago but haven't sold but might owe taxes (trades, buying, etc. ) wonder how many people in general dont pay taxes? I heard it's a lot in the US for crypto holders.

Just as mk4 above posted, Crypto whales epitomise the terms "long term" and "HODL"

Think about it, if they didnt sell in 2007/2008 2017/2018 when the then ATH was $20,000 and
didnt sell this time around at the ATH of $68,000, they are long term HODLers.

Maybe they are waiting for the magic number of $100,000, maybe they are waiting until
they are 50 years of age, who knows?

EDIT - thanks @rhomelmabini below - that was some typo.

I've put a parlay on early yesterday - I won't say what it is, but fingers crossed for next week ...

I thought you were going with a parlay?

First game of the NRL R7 today between The Sharks and Sea Eagles was a bit
remarkable. The Sharks leading 32-0 at the break, only scored 2 points in the
second half and let The Sea Eagles score 22 points, seems like they switched
off in the second half confident that the job was done, strange scoring.

If the Sea Eagles hadnt run out of time it could have been an upset, hard to switch
on with a mindest of job done in the first half.

Perhaps just the nerves, you have to think that he is still a kid, just 18 years, and having a good time of his life. And he is playing for the crowd, his first return to Spanish soil so imagine the feeling. The weather as well, windy, cold and wet conditions.

But he did recovered in the 3rd, so he advances and will be facing his fellow Spaniard next, J. Munar.

Both of my initial handicap bets are covered.

the second set played by the Spanish was disastrous from all points of view, indeed unwatchable.
Anyone who has bet an "easy" 2-0 win was really surprised to see him play ...

Politics continues to create divisions even in sport.
As already discussed yesterday, there was a ban on Russian and Belarusian players in Wimbledon Tournament.

Today's news is Djokovic's that doesn't agree with this ban.
Another "contrary" opinion come from australian player Millmann
(who suggested donating the Wimbledon prize pool to the Ukrainian cause rather than banning the participation of players based on their nationality).

I don't know about you, but excluding someone regardless of their actions is always a kind of defeat for everyone Sad

Thats a good suggestioon by Millman regarding the prize fund, not sure it would happen
though. TBH I think banning Russian and Belarussian players is a bit over the top, they
are individual sports people who dont actually play for their countries. I also think
most of the russian players have voiced their comdemnation of the war to some degree.

As an aside I was surprised to see at the prize giving ceremony at Monte Carlo they played
the national anthems of the winning players, I think its the nly tournament to do that?

2839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is it bad to leave crypto on exchanges? on: April 21, 2022, 06:27:27 AM
If you plan to sell or exchange your coins over the next few years, experience shows that storing coins in a cryptocurrency exchange account is no different from storing them in a wallet. And in many ways it's even more convenient.
Wrong.
Only if you own shitcoins that you want to sell in the next few hours to days it makes sense to store them on the exchange so that you can act quickly considering how shitcoins pump and dump very quickly.
Otherwise if you own bitcoin and you want to keep it for years it makes no sense to store it on exchanges, they may not even exist in a couple of months let alone be around in years!

Exactly, Exchanges are for exchanging and their wallets which they provide to us
their customers should be used on a temporary basis.

"Convienient" how inconvienient is it to transfer coins which you want to exchange
from a hardware or smartphone wallet to the exchange?

@OP - for the sake of around $100 you can store your coin on a hardware wallet and
be at ease in the knowledge that your coin is secure and YOU control access to it at all times.

I understand the allure of earning interest but at least know the risk involved.
