bag holders are everywhere, we usually see those who are bag holding altcoins and crying about how they are losing money but it is rare (in this community) to see a metals bag holder who is crying about how he F'ed up and is now stuck with bags of silver hoping for it to go up so that he can make money Cheesy
2862  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far is the bottom for Bitcoin ? When will it peak again? on: August 24, 2018, 04:59:33 PM
why do you want to know the bottom?
if it is for making an investment (not day trading) then you should have started buying a while ago when we hit $6k. it may not be exactly the lowest price that bitcoin can reach but it certainly is a low price very close to it and accumulating at this stage is not such a bad idea.
but if it is for day trading then bottom should not matter to you! it is day-trading not month trading Tongue
2863  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price after another ETF rejection by US SEC on: August 24, 2018, 03:40:00 PM
I'm not seeing bitcoin being the direct benefit of ETF, rather altcoin would because it will give more recognition to cryptocurrency.

the only problem with that is when someone  from outside comes in they usually only see the top altcoins and they are usually the worst coins, at least most of them are. and with the pump and dumps they see there while seeing some broken project (ETH, XRP) or a copy coin (BCH, LTC,...) they will be disappointed and go away. possibly back to bitcoin.
2864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thread : HOW TO PROTECT YOURS BITCOIN & ALTCOINS ! on: August 24, 2018, 03:32:50 PM
If you hold less than 1.5/2 BTC , do not buy a ledger wallet or others stuffs like that.

I don't understand this advice. A ledger costs less than $100. I would say if you are holding even a few thousand dollars worth of Bitcoin, especially long-term, then a ledger or other hardware wallet is a good investment.

that is why i always try not to give an exact number because it is different for each person. some may go with higher amounts and some with lower. but i think a better factor to determine whether or not to buy a hardware wallet is your usage not your amount.
for instance if i want to hold bitcoin i put it in a paper wallet which is my encrypted key on a piece of paper which i have laminated. i also have a back up from it. but if i wanted to spend from it often enough, like a big trader moving big funds to and from  exchanges hardware wallet is more suitable.
2865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we tell if a Bitcoin public address is in a Bitcoin Core Desktop Wallet? on: August 24, 2018, 03:02:52 PM
bitcoin core like any other wallet program is creating a "bitcoin address" and that has a clear definition. it is simply hash of a public key with a specific formatting that makes the result be a string starting with 1, 3 or bc1. it doesn't matter what the wallet program is, they all do the same encoding.

imagine it like this:
you have a number that you want to represent. you have many ways.
decimal: 255
binary: 11111111
hexadeciman: FF
Base58: 5Q
Base58 with checksum: VrZDWwe

and this last way of encoding is what the bitcoin address version 1 uses. and it is shared among all the different implementation of bitcoin protocol including bitcoin core, Armory, Electrum, blockchain.info,...
2866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will SEC never approve Bitcoin ETF? on: August 24, 2018, 02:35:33 PM
The commission did not approve the first applications but the September 30 application seems to me that it will be approved and we will fly to the moon Wink

that is the whole point that the link in OP is pointing out which probably you didn't read. it basically says SEC rejected ETF because they say bitcoin price can be manipulated. and since this is not going to change with different ETFs, the upcoming one(s) will also be rejected.

and i think it has a good point. nothing has changed about bitcoin. they have been rejecting ETFs for more than a year now, so why should they change now?

and don't you worry we will go to the moon, probably faster without ETF!
2867  Economy / Economics / Re: ETF rejected on: August 23, 2018, 03:30:17 PM
BTC is going to $100,000+ with or without ETF, but without an ETF it will be slower and TPTB continues amassing BTC by extending the bear period.

not necessarily. you can only push the price down for so long before it blows up in your face. we have seen this many times before. and with ETF bitcoin may not go up as fast as you'd expect because it still isn't bringing money into bitcoin and we need people who buy bitcoin for it to go up in price.
2868  Economy / Speculation / Re: How does SEC ETF rejection affect the future of Bitcoin. on: August 23, 2018, 02:57:38 PM
lets imagine that there was actually a drop because of ETF rejections that took place yesterday. the drop doesn't wait for a whole day to start, then happen. the drop happens right away. the fact that now nearly a day has passed from the ETF rejection means it wasn't something that  could cause a drop.

in other words next time you assume something is going to cause a drop,  act on it right away and sell. of course you should first make sure your speculation is correct not wrong like this time.
2869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Millionaire Tricked Into Exchanging $2.3 Million BTC For Forge on: August 23, 2018, 02:29:05 PM
I'm always amazed at how the hell can some guys run a successful company and at the same time be this stupid.

sometimes all you need is luck not wisdom, that is why you sometimes see dumb idiots having more money and being successful. of course idiots will never remain successful because luck runs out and their stupidity leads to things like this and they go back to being dumb and poor!
2870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks Consume Over Three Times More Energy Than Bitcoin on: August 23, 2018, 02:22:53 PM
Bitcoin energy consumption has never been an issue not even a "hot topic". what happened was that last year thanks to the big price rise  that we had the FUDsters exhausted their subjects they usually use and they had no more new stuff to use so they started inventing issues. one of them has been the energy consumption. and the thing that is ignored in their arguments is the utilities that bitcoin is providing.
2871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which country trades the most bitcoin on: August 23, 2018, 02:16:56 PM
china for sure before the banning , but after that the bitcoin alocation was buying by people /  investor at argentina and surrounding there

well China didn't ban bitcoin trading, they banned their exchanges from working. that indeed damaged the volume that was going in bitcoin but it  didn't stop it. those who wanted to buy bitcoin has been doing it elsewhere on different exchanges which doesn't show up on stats like this.
2872  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do you think the market is down right now? on: August 21, 2018, 04:16:54 PM
i don't know why it is so hard for some people to check the history of altcoins! all of you check coinmarketcap, some of you even do it daily or multiple times a day to see how much you have lost. next time you visit it, try looking at some charts for long term like 2-3 years. zoom in on different parts of the chart and see how the pump and dumps have always been the same among altcoins.
there doesn't need to be a reason for the altcoins to get dumped like this and keep going down every day.
2873  Economy / Economics / Re: Reason why other ban cryptocurrencies on: August 21, 2018, 04:05:27 PM
that doesn't make sense.
for instance imagine you want to launder money or transfer money outside of country. you currently have other ways of using fiat and doing this safely, without any trace and with no risk of value loss. if you launder $1 million you get $1 million dollar clean money.
but now imagine you use bitcoin to do it. first you leave a trace behind that is easy for everyone to see. then you are risking losing a lot of money. if you put $1 million in and bitcoin loses 10% (a common drop like from $6600  down to $6000) then you lose $100,000 easily!

now tell me who is going to choose bitcoin over traditional methods of laundering money?
2874  Economy / Speculation / Re: Impact of the pending ETF in September? on: August 21, 2018, 03:57:26 PM
Probably will be rejected and we'll go into the next speculative ETF period for January 2019. I believe the ETF being rejected is already priced in. I mean what fool actually things it will pass?

i don't think that many people think ETF is going to be approved this time which is the main reason for not seeing any rise so far and instead seeing this uncertain stuck period where price doesn't make any meaningful movement.
so rejection being priced in already, makes perfect sense to me.
2875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tokens Record Losses as Major Cryptos Struggle; Bitcoin Stable at $6,500 on: August 21, 2018, 03:12:54 PM
Was $5,800 the Bottom?

no $6000 was the bottom. it doesn't matter that price went to a certain lower price level because technically if you look at the market price can jump if someone suddenly unloads a big amount on the market or buys a lot of bitcoin suddenly so i don't think we can consider those as real prices specially since it jumps back to normal level. for example the drop to $5930 was temporary and couldn't stay there and jumped back up so i consider $6000 to still be the bottom.

as for altcoins, they have always been dumping and making newbies lose a lot of money and it is their own fault for not learning from the mistakes they always make.
2876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has 54% of the cryptocurrency market on: August 21, 2018, 02:58:12 PM
if you know the basics about bitcoin then you wouldn't need an article on the internet to tell you whether bitcoin is strong or not. you would already know the answer to that. specially an article which is using market cap and its relation to the total market cap as its main point of reference!

in other words bitcoin is as dominating as when it had 80% of the total market cap and just as dominating as when it had 40% of the total market cap. nothing has changed about bitcoin's dominance. only the market cap numbers change.
2877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be stronger this time on: August 21, 2018, 02:49:30 PM
as someone who claims to be a "famous analyst" you should already know that the numbers you are quoting are not "market value" because they do not represent the value of  the market, they are "market cap" and the reason why it is a lot bigger than 2014 and previous years is because bitcoin has grown and also a lot of altcoins were created. it is not because the altcoins grew it is because their numbers are high!
2878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need to change on: August 21, 2018, 02:39:44 PM
it is partly our own fault though. you can't always blame others. for example you mentioned something about not being able to spend bitcoin to purchase things you want. the question is, have you really searched to see if it is impossible to buy that thing with bitcoin or are you making an assumption? because i have seen many who were just assuming they can't spend bitcoin but they could.
but also we know bitcoin adoption as a currency is not yet great, again this is partly our fault. for example how many times have you asked a merchant that you use to start accepting bitcoin? we need to start from ourselves and push for adoption then expect others to follow.
2879  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Altcoin market Price on: August 20, 2018, 03:35:06 PM
Quote
Guys is that posible token price become 0 ?

0 in which unit. I think that only reach 1 satoshi/token. Can not reach 0 satoshi.

1 satoshi is not the minimum value an altcoin or token can reach. there are hundreds of altcoins that are worth less than 1 satoshi and since less than 1 satoshi is not meaningless so in a way you can say they are worth 0 satoshi.
these coins are being traded with other altcoins which is why they worth less.

also  coins can die, google dead coins and you can find a link to their graveyard which has thousands of them that are dead and are worth 0 got real.
2880  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today`s bitcoin market is pretty quite slow! on: August 20, 2018, 03:28:04 PM
There are so many hodlers, long-term investors and other people who made nothing but only to wait the market grows. How stupid this people are!!!

i don't really know what you have in mind when you say "help the market grow" but this statement that i just quoted took me back to last year when price was struggling to stay near $2k and there were a lot of topics talking about how "long term hoderls" are stupid!
