Man, the day did not start well for me at all. Picked both away teams in La Liga and EPL to win narrowly and they both do their best to lose the game quickly by giving away early goals.

Can't pretend to know much about Girona or Getafe so I admit I went for the tight away win (which I usually do when odds from bookies are extremely even, as was the case here).

I see only 3 of you went for the home win, can Girona pull off 2 goals in 2nd half?

Now, is Atletico a good bet today?

No =)

Newcastle! Did they have to go behind so soon?

Yeah, TAA will stop Rashford Smiley Even TAA in the best form against Rashford in a poor form would be problematic and Rashford is playing in the form of his life. It is just the way Trent plays with leaving heaps of space behind his back.

That being said, Liverpool improved somewhat defensively and kept 4 clean sheets in a row, don't think they will manage the same tomorrow but maybe they have the chance now while I would have put a house on United winning a couple of weeks ago.

Which is why I can't find it in myself to blame TAA for anything. Yes, he gives goals away, but his contribution up front more than compensates. The blame has to fall on the CBs. Gomez especially this season, even VVD (the former I really really liked in seasons past). Midfield of course is our biggest weakness because they are supposed to be what gives the license to TAA/Robbo.

The entire issue with Liverpool squad has always been that the team's sum is always greater... 11 players playing to a capacity of 13. But you take away one piece and it falls apart. We knew this and had this problem even 3 years ago... before every piece came back again and we went on a streak that continued until our quadruple challenge.

I mean, Klopp turned me into a believer after all. So, I've got to stick with the optimism at least. However, despite my rather sarcastic tone in that initial post; I actually think we might pull it off. I don't expect to run over them, and smash the goals in, but I do think we'll surprise a lot of people. The signs are there, Liverpool have definitely been making progress recently. I don't like our defensive fragility at the moment, but our attack is looking decent.

Also, I love Nunez I doubted him initially, but even when he doesn't score I just love the way he plays. It brings the chaos, and I absolutely love that sort of style. Reminds me a little of Suarez.

Yeah, Klopp's banked a lot of points with me and so much goodwill and faith that I will probably be one of those who'll sink with him if it ever gets to that (and I don't think it will). I'm not even a local, but he had/has a way of putting his mark on things. Even the few match programmes I did read, particularly during our darkest days, you won't find a replacement for that.

Nunez, man. I said it too many times. I see him the way I see Firmino, not at all bothered that he isn't banging in the goals, just the way he plays is a joy. Absolute chaos as you say, and like Suarez, he didn't hit the ground running with goals and assists, but the chances he creates on/off ball, and the way he just wants to try every chance he gets? That will eventually translate into goals.

Speaking of Bobby, I read he isn't renewing his contract. I will miss him, even more than Mane...

This might veer out of topic but remember when DEXs (even those on Bitcoin like Counterparty) had this liquidity Catch 22? There's not enough users because there's not enough liquidity, there's not enough liquidity because there's not enough users... the liquidity pool model that those non-Bitcoin DEXs use seemed to have solved it.

I suspect a similar model will encourage liquidity growth in LN. Seems to me the simplest route... and I'm ready to be attacked, only saying this as a simpleton.

I jinxed this tie in another thread. Said Napoli are the only team I trust this season. And then they let me down. But you know, that's how it goes.

Didn't watch, but the game stats looked bare for Napoli (2 shots on goal). I knew it was the risky pick for BSFL but always felt like the masked man would continue his hot, hot streak. Thank Sarri, indeed...
2865  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 03, 2023, 05:37:26 PM
Even though I bet on Liverpool's last game and it did, I don't have any optimism about this team. In the first half, the wolves completely controlled the entire attacking potential of Liverpool and they literally had no chance. In the second half, Liverpool managed to win but I would not say that they were confident and that if they played with a stronger team, the result would have been the same. I think that when betting on Liverpool, you can fall into the same trap: so-so game, but good results -> confidence in the team grows -> then an unexpected defeat and a minus bet.

Yeah. Super trap. Avoid money on this team. I'm just there to show up, for better or for worse (for worse, is of course, the wisdom).

What are your feelings about this?
Liverpool surprise everyone, and wipe the floor with Manchester United, call me delusional if you want Tongue. I think Newcastle might be able to steal some points off Man City. Chelsea will likely struggle against Leeds, but I do think they'll end up winning this game. Arsenal probably finds is relatively easy against Bournemouth. Like I said, I expect Liverpool to at least challenge Man Utd now that we've got some of our players back, it might be too early to beat them convincingly like I suggested, but we should be able to show a little more quality now.

Hopefully, Liverpool can keep fit now, and actually move up that bloody table.

Amen! We nullify Rashford because TAA has an axe to grind with his defensive reputation and will do everything to run Rashford dry. Nunez finally has his bad luck hoard spill over into a goal fest, courtesy Salah and Robbo assists. Alisson will be up for it, and Bobby turns up with a goal to remind people he's still silk.

(visions of hollow victory laugh)

Newcastle will feel the heat and want to stay in UCL spots a bit longer, while City will be tinkered beyond recognition.

I already have two Brighton players, and my team is set to play until GW 29.
What are your thoughts, Darwin owners? Should I keep him or sell him

Added Mitoma back, so I'm full up on Brighton, but I chose to bring back Darwin and put Rashford out (I smell a victory, and want to take full advantage). Salah also out though, to reshuffle my board, he normally gets goals against United but he might end up feeding Nunez more this time.

If you guys haven't figured it out yet, I don't know what I'm doing =)

Maddison kept on too, I've a feeling he'll play.

So for those of you that aren't following DOTA, Liquid won both games and got to upper bracket final.

For those of you that follow DOTA, they were really good while getting there. Did not lost a single map on the way and looked like they have everything in complete control all the ways trough drafting, lanes, mid and late game. Really hope GG can take at least one map from them in Upper Bracket Final and make it a bit more interesting.

Oh damn, that means I'm level on points with Slissy now, who chose Yes. Well done to DOTA followers who got that right (how many are we here haha).

I note we have 4 different answers, Sir Sliss, and tonight we'll find out if Napoli has what it takes... I did feel Inter were the better choice, given how poor Lecce were, but Napoli are the only team I trust this season. Spam bets on them has worked so far. I'd feel happy if they get 2 goals, hoping for 3 at least!
2868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: March 03, 2023, 01:37:43 PM
^ Nah nothing for me this week. I'm only semi-confident of Blades and Burnley but for their price (collectively 22/10), I'd rather stay away and just enjoy the firefight as Beyer makes his case for Kompany so his loan becomes permanent (which apparently happens if they gain promotion).

No good news for Reading as they might get a penalty of 6 points if Peterborough are successful in their litigation so they might end up being just above relegation zone if that happens.

Seems like a lot of drama 3rd place and below but shame it's hard to get coverage!
2869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 03, 2023, 11:44:13 AM
Do I dare say if BVB win tonight's game, they should be taken seriously?

Bayern do seem to be in a slight funk, while Dortmund now aim to get 10th straight win since the start of the year.

It took a while for the "new team" to click, but Emre Can's been getting so much better, as has Bellingham, once they figured out they should never play them together the entire game (or not together at all).

Am I the only one thinking I really like what I'm seeing or am I jinxing them?

Should I continue? There are interesting games ahead, or simple picks like "City qualifies" with odds of 1.20 - looks very attractive to me as City annoys me so much that I'm willing to pay that money to see them eliminated at the 1/8 stage  Grin

For your benefit, I say take out half and try do it again.

For my benefit, I say pay that money to see them eliminated.

You want an even better dumb option (in reference to your Serie A jibe)? Liverpool are 27/1 to qualify to the next stage. Take out $1700. Bet the rest on that. That would be severe punishment for everyone except yourself.

Share your next leg picks please. I need to at least put something while you're on a hot streak!
2871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: March 02, 2023, 10:46:47 PM
For me, the gift was Milan, which won against Atalanta and that's the only reason I didn't bet on Roma  Grin Dumb systems are absurd but they work!  Wink
Now Roma have obvious problems in the fight for getting into the top 4, so the game next round, where they host Juventus, will be especially important. It seems quite logical to me that after gifting points to an outsider, Roma should beat the favorite, what do you say?

They work until they don't. Really pleased for you of course, wins are to be celebrated, but I'd like you to just stop doing so well in the pools?

I'm predicting against Roma, in a big way. Juve seem to be resurging, after locating their 1-0 DNA all of a sudden, now they want to score goals. While Roma... they're not even that big of an underdog (27/10 vs Juve 26/10)...

...but you're right. Worth putting them on an acca and that's already done now for me!
2872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | FPL Football Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: March 02, 2023, 08:30:17 PM
Small wins for me with Arsenal players, all good point collections (shame I used captain on Salah but who was to know we'd draw a Palace blank?).

So I got my old squad now, feel like I could have used FH chip better but not complaining for a better-than-average haul, actually climbed a couple of spots in the crap league, and making myself feel better about everything.

I'm with Trofo, bringing back Brentford and Brighton players (they were anyway in my squad for value). I will likely want to hold on to Saka/Rashford, despite tough games, but I do want to avoid the derby as I have a feeling we'll beat United.

Gonna be a penalty week for me, but I don't mind really.
2873  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: March 02, 2023, 06:25:18 PM
Arsenal hit easy, if late in the first half, Saints, well, did not. So I ended up with a net $9 loss from the $100 outlay, but the $20 freechips puts me in possible profit. I'm throwing it all on 32/36 on Roulette both ways (Evo and Bombay).

I did put a lot more money on Liverpool, being incorrigible, so I did walk away with some greens yesterday. 2% of my season misery recovered is still a recovery. Ha ha.

Euroleague special is up. Basketball... so I'm not keen.
2874  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 02, 2023, 04:37:45 PM
Liverpool VAR no-goal, I didn't feel was harsh, just unfortunate, and I find it acceptable. Probably the right call, I'd hope it goes our way next time.

Moot, since we won. It was not comfortable though, even if I have to say I can't recall a single time we had a proper threat on our goal.

Spurs and Newcastle the teams we need to catch up with though. Let's see if we got the blood for it.

Do agree with Welsh: it's a good time to start putting on the cream on Liverpool, now that people forgot how good we can be. Bajcetic is incredible, I know he gives away attacks but we need that kind of forward-thinking midfield. I have to remind myself often I didn't rate his debut. It is definitely going to be a problem to replace Hendo. Thiago is a Fabinho. Need them fit and on form, but they need someone more reliable and energetic. Can't say we have a solution easy, so we may need to dig deep into Academy again... I feel like Fabinho if we can get him out of his funk, fully fit again, we'll be okay.

Man I still miss Gini.
2875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Mainstream payment method on: March 02, 2023, 04:05:44 PM
It's got to be user experience for me, more than anything else. We're talking mainstream here, so we have to accept, for better or worse -- people don't really care about security, about sovereign money, or even inflation, and that's judging from the majority of crypto "users" I've come across.

It needs to be cool and easy to use. It needs to be simpler than an existing form of money to use. It needs to solve problems too (and less about my money's not worth anything and more about I need to be able to buy this but I can't because I don't have a debit card or PayPal).

It's a populist move, but crime coming down might be at the expense of unbridled dictatorship (read, corruption).

I cannot completely disagree with you buwaytress, and there surely is a bit of injustice in terms of potential lack of due process - yet I have my doubts that there is a complete lack of due process, but perhaps a bit of a "desperate times call for desperate measures," and perhaps it takes a long time to process cases, and surely a lot of injustices have likely already occurred due to lack of process and perhaps will continue to keep occurring due to how long that it might take to process cases, and even the fact that some of the lock ups might be on shaky grounds to prevent crimes rather than for crimes that have had already happened.. so yeah, I am bothered by some of those kinds of matters too.. .

And, I am not going to proclaim to know all of the details, and surely I am bothered by the extent of sweeping that seems to have had taken place.. and I would also be concerned about making sure that there might be resources to process cases and to even release folks.. and yeah it is bothersome in regards to merely being in a gang or being affiliated would not generally tend to be enough to cause someone to automatically be guilty of a crime.. and again, I don't claim to know enough of the circumstances to presume that some variation of what Bukele did might have had been justified given the extent of the corruption and shake downs that seemed to have had been taking place on regular folks trying to carry out businesses or to live their regular lives prior to the sweep.

Yeah, I don't know the details either, but I am following some of it a little more than most. We in Southeast Asia had a similar "experiment" with organised crime in the Philippines -- the ex president Duterte basically gave free reign to citizens, urging them to deal swiftly and violently with criminals. A period marked by increased extra-judicial killings, it also received widespread approval.

But now he's out and the "war" on drugs is relenting, things will resume after a while. And that's for me proof that you got to deal with underlying issues -- what caused that narcostate situation in the first place. And that's corruption, mainly, and the unwillingness to put the state as accountable.

Anyway, as I said also, I'm more likely than not to support hardline stance. Lesser of evils? A few innocents for the many?

It's just for me somewhat incongruent with what Bukele says he wants for his people with Bitcoin...

All that bitcoin won't be of any use if one man (or a few) get to decide what to do with it -- remember it was bought with public funds. Need to see proof that those coins are accounted for and transparently audited, with access in hands of the elected.

For sure, Bukele is supposed to be acting within the public interest with public funds that he uses to buy and accumulate bitcoin on behalf of El Salvador, so for sure, it would be a calamity if he were to either rug pull or to escape with the coins - yet at the same time, there may well be a certain level of justification too, in regards to his attempting some levels of secrecy.. especially given the international rhetoric that may well attempt to compromise the security of those coins that he supposedly purchased on behalf of El Salvador.

Of course, agree. But on one hand, announcing buys on Twitter, and then on another signing off on multi-million dollar contracts with service providers we now know weren't exactly kosher. I see that secrecy benefiting those that have more than those that don't have.

And, as in the case of Duterte... continuity is important. If Bitcoin is to succeed there, it has to be the will of the people, not the will of a man, or a few men.

I don't know what to say sir buwaytress, but I made one nice prediction and I see Leicester is losing with two goals now, but there is lot of playing time left.

Well done, man, well done. I also benefited from their loss (a draw would have been enough in regular time) as it gave me a precious point in the BSFL competition, but yeah, no money for me in this performance.

The question tonight is, should we go boldly with West Ham and/or Sheffield United? Blades are "only" 5/1, Hammers 6/1, so it's not really getting my juices flowing but I suppose their fans might be tempted.
