Arsenal.... what are you doing?

But yeah I'm with casper here. Juventus and Sevilla, stay away please. They're too busy either trying to qualify for UCL or avoid relegation. This trophy might come with prize money comparable to a few good buys but neither team will fancy their chances to go all the way.

Now Betis upset? Sounds like my kind of bet Wink
2002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Round of 16 on: March 09, 2023, 05:49:35 PM
Villareal and Fiorentina look pretty all right for the odds, but not touching any of the others (save maybe a Hammers HT win). Nice and Basel would be my darkhorse picks, but at this stage, I'd go for a Nice rebuild progress, to fall to one of Spain/Italy/England teams later if they make it past Sheriff.

Normally here's also where I back some of the geographically Asian teams (what? EUFA?) but not when odds aren't 5/1!

Lady Luck, there's no other explanation... if she smiles upon you you can win the Lambo with a single ticket, and definitely, that would be crazy! If that happens by any chance, I would think about a "Golden ticket/Lambo/Freebitcoin" tattoo! Smiley

Yikes, no. A tattoo to win it, sure (laser removal should be 1% of the prize haha).

Funnily enough I think 1 ticket has a higher chance than the lotteries I buy...

Rolex or IPhone win is a good one, most especially, an iPhone, since this is something coming almost at free of charge.
But then again, winning a Lamborghini would be the extreme, I mean, if I win a lambo, I would out of joy run naked on the street without knowing it 😂.

You're taking the BTC, we all are. Who're we kidding?

Rolex? 1 in a billion? Yeah, why not?
2004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Paul Krugman Effect on: March 09, 2023, 03:44:44 PM
Somewhat remember him, don't even recall he tweeted in 2018 (brave to do so in a bear perhaps but you know these guys these days).

Even somewhat surprised he hasn't gone even farther to either extremes (convert or bully).

Economist he may be, and he's certainly loads smarter than me, but I wonder if he's really kicking the can down the road with Bitcoin? I'd be retiring on my Nobel prize money.
2005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | Champions League Pool ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: March 09, 2023, 02:27:47 PM
Some people says Messi save his 800 goal for Bayer Munich, that can be truth?.

I think we can see that goal coming if he is in one of his days, but more important its how good its Mbappe, P$G only play good with Mbappe they only make long balls to him or key pass between lines trusted in the amazing speed of Donatello (Mbappe). When Mbappe doesnt play the P$G game its horrendous.

Didn't read this until now actually, guess some people were wrong. I switched off at half time to do some real life things, but I actually thought Messi had some good play, Mbappe as usual dynamic but just not enough quality on the delivery.

Kind of bummed they didn't make it through but only because I bet on them.

Underwhelming team of the last 5 seasons...

So I got my free Golden Ticket today, from a spin. Seems like it's my destiny to always win one spin to get these tickets every round. I'm going to actually hope I don't get another till the end of the round, and my single ticket will win the Lambo (haha). I'll be so legendary in these parts after that.

Funny how I'd won my past ones from email spins, now I've got Premium and I only get the one strike now -- Lady Luck huh.
2007  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: March 08, 2023, 09:46:14 PM
I don't think it's completely baseless FUD, we all know they all know we all know they do the same things behind those desks, SBF was just too far out of his league, and lacked the same level of checks and balances.

Does this lead to Binance biting the dust? Nah. Does it mean they won't eventually bite the dust? I won't dismiss the possibility entirely, but it won't be because of this. If I'm wrong and it does? What doesn't kill Bitcoin only makes it stronger =)
2008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: March 08, 2023, 08:04:55 PM
Spurs win + Kane on the specials today at 3/1 is tempting but I'm actually thinking they crash out tonight, and PSG win (not sure if enough to progress). So I'll just keep my money for today and regret tomorrow heh.

darxiaomi: Is it weird I actually understood that betslip and didn't realise it was Spanish until I read your post? Sometimes I think I just assume things from numbers (19.5 was all I needed to see haha).
2009  Economy / Economics / Re: The world continues dumping US dollar (Gold, New World Order, World War III) on: March 08, 2023, 06:07:03 PM
US dollar has been losing its value in reality (easily seen in increased price of everything) but if you aren't seeing a catastrophe that's because of the high interest rate that is trying to keep dollar artificially strong.

And yeah, just as I thought we'd see it being more vulnerable, they go ahead and double down on interest huh...

Don't know how I missed this or why I'm not seeing more discussion about it but Powell just suggested -- after months of seemingly agreeing that things aren't as bad as they thought and that they could ease down on interest rate hikes -- that even bigger increases are expected?

So much about continuing to dump US dollar when it's relatively "free" money just holding for interest in short term -- wish I had some for more BTC.

Didn't research baseball and I'll tell you why. I did for a season or two (3 seasons ago anyway) try reading as much as possible about baseball in MLB. That was club baseball of course, and I suppose a very different animal, but it was impossible to tell which team would win, almost a coinflip from game to game, with such a big roster of players and just so many games happening, it's almost as if you rely on extreme outcomes to win a game... and then you'd see a team smash one team, then lose another just as badly.

Now this tourney's different -- odds are quite extreme on the underdogs (relative to what I'd seen anyway in MLB).

So I feel like one upset is enough, but I have a feeling, if it's anything like club baseball... we'll see 3 wins in these 7 games.

I note famososMuertos has a score wrongly recorded in the sheet btw Wink
2012  Economy / Economics / Re: The cost of living is trying to kill the living on: March 08, 2023, 04:00:35 PM
It's not trying to kill the living, it's to keep the poor and middle class alive but as close to desperation as possible.

Been struggling with inflation here where I am, already, but at least it's still doable. As in, if it used to cost let's say 10% of monthly wage for a week's groceries (and that's almost luxurious), price doubling is 20%, but cutting down on luxury I can already minimise it to 15% of monthly. That's about 60% just on groceries, but I support a big family so it's actually all right.

Back home, for most of my family, it's far worse. Already living on minimum means, price doubling means people already are out of means.

Meanwhile, companies are posting more profits. I'm not saying Bitcoin's the sole solution, but it's a pretty good start.

2013  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Adoption To Grow 50% By 2025, This Report Claims on: March 08, 2023, 01:53:13 PM
Point already mentioned above re CBDC or even blockchain tech. Not the same thing as Bitcoin adoption, if anything, farther away especially with private blockchains Wink

Re the report, still trying to figure out what adoption means there. I'm not going to go super pedantic anyway (owning keys, since mass adoption will most likely mean people shouldn't figure out how to be sole owners or access to their crypto) but I do think that at the very least, the apps people use to "buy/own" crypto should at least interact with the blockchain. Not true with most apps I know people use (broker apps, no actual wallet).

Anyone else think PSG are great value? I thought the same about BVB last night, so oops. Spurs/Milan game, never touching that!

Am I really bad at thinking, or is there an opportunity to bet with a guaranteed profit (on sportsbet) right now?

Draw or Borussia Dortmund 2.10
To Qualify Chelsea FC          2.00

Can anyone tell me where I'm wrong? How can a bookmaker make such a big mistake? Obviously these are opposite outcomes and they add up to the full sum of the possible outcomes.

If Chelsea won by a 1 goal margin, then they would be level on aggregate, so would need to proceed to go to extra time/penalties. Then you'd lose the first bet. Then if BVB progress after ET/penalties, you lose the second bet. So no, bookie didn't make any mistake there Wink
2016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Group Stages on: March 07, 2023, 08:22:46 PM
Lazio is opening this Conference league round, playing against AZ today

there is several good games on Thursday, but no easy home wins IMO
Basel against Slovan should be a home win, Villareal has a test against Anderlecht, Gent and Fiorentina are playing against Turkish teams at home, West Ham going to Cyprus

Thank you Lazio for ruining my week so fast.

This is the team that finally broke Napoli. Hail Sarri. Hail the attack, should have been such an easy pick, and I thought nothing about adding them to my acca.

They did pepper Dutch's goal with attempts, but surprisingly allowed the weaker team to muscle them off the ball too much.

Note to self: stick to upsets.
2017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 07, 2023, 06:59:15 PM
Do I recall correctly cryptofrka is headed there?

Yup. I hoped for a different kind of game though Grin
Anyway - I'll use this opportunity to check out the city and the Bernabeu, I don't have any real expectations of us doing anything meaningful there.

Real is in a bit of a rough patch but they are a mega team, no way that they are dropping this.

30/1 was as high as odds got for Liverpool to qualify, I only managed 24/1 because I took it as soon as we lost at Anfield haha... but odds are now back to a "Reasonable" 22/1.

I still put us in for a win on a couple of accas, almost 3/1 seems value. It's too much to expect but if we can count on another fast attack, and hopefully learn a lesson about asking Trent to guard Vini... Klopp is usually stubborn about that so yeah, maybe we need that formation to get goals but if we somehow get 2 first, then we need to switch flanks or even go completely broad behind.

Enjoy!

Watched Brentford yesterday and I must say I was very impressed with the way they play when they are not leading. They were destroying Fulham until they scored first goal, then they just stopped until Fulham got back to even terms. Then again they were much better when they needed to attack. I am not watching them often but based on this one game I feel like they would do much better if they tried to adopt big club mentality and played for goals all the time.
seeing that often with Everton, having good play during 60-70 minutes, and last 20 minutes as different team on the pitch, hardly running at all

Newcastle and Everton I noticed the most. Dyche is even more of that mentality and they powered the whole first game under him (and won) but they didn't even last 45 minutes vs Liverpool.

It does feel like Championship mentality, no better demonstrated than by Leeds...
2018  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: March 07, 2023, 05:38:17 PM
I opted to skip Blades even though I'm confident of them winning. Funny that just because odds aren't 2/1 I'm ignoring them. Would normally add a leg or two from these games to accas I got, but let's just say I'm giving this week's games a purge from my system (but to be fair, it's really because of European cups!).

I do think over 2 goals on all three games are a solid acca though...
2019  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | Champions League Pool ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: March 07, 2023, 04:03:33 PM
BVB here too, and the odds are good enough for me to also bet on them. It's my only acca, very minor, but 5/1 should be enough to keep my pulse racing for this game.

If you have one to give away, I will gladly accept it, even if it means paying the shipping fees so I can finally get rid of trust wallet. Because the bull run is approaching, I need to ship my 1.2m BTC to a more secure location.

Hehe no worries! I will give my Ledger raffle win to you then. It's fine for me. Congrats, you're officially a winner now, haha!  Smiley

Good on you bullrun, and yeah Ige, show a nice photo.

I'm shipping the ledger, so shoot me a PM with your name and postal address. You might get a customs request from the handler... but I'll leave it to you (I had to pay that too haha).

Oh man, this does bring back memories. I had my notepads too (yeah even those faucet sites right in the beginning!). All the different sites, schemes, you name it, I had them down.

I even still have a bookmark folder of all the things I'd need to check on daily, weekly.

Plenty of bitcointalk bookmarks too. How to consolidate satoshis, how to do this, and that.

90% of the links don't work anymore. Or are just defunct pages.
