Really impressive breakout in recent days. I wonder if the pump is people front running a good CPI announcement by the FED today.

Absolutely took me by surprise too. Not sure I see how any kind of good CPI could cause this kind of buoyancy, particularly with last week's Powell words, but I'll take this surge with some enthusiasm (because man we need some more days above 25k!).

Not that there's any credence to Fed these days but I think they have moved swiftly to stem the collapse of banks... even reassuring the public it doesn't come from taxpayer funds (heh).

It's a nice day because today the price has skyrocketed by more than 17%, if we save in the bank then to get a bank interest of 17% in my country it takes 4 years, but with bitcoin 17% profit can be obtained in 24 hours,

And what will happen to your money if you buy bitcoin at 69k, and compared to the current price, your asset value will lose 70%? You can't compare bitcoin investment with bank savings, it's a lame comparison, if you want to compare, it's fairer than mentioning the risk of both.

Gotta start recognising spam posts, man.

Many types, but this is the type that says they would buy/sell but in reality, they're just collecting shitcoins.

My intuition (it's such a nice word, it's more like a random coinflip for me when it comes to F1) is that alonso will miss out by a whisker -- he should be Top 5, but not a podium finish.

Now whether or not I translate that into my BSFL picks is another coinflip.

Anyway, don't worry CLS63, lesson learnt, it's really funny about this fee thing isn't it? It really is not a big deal, and most of us have some form of BTC income from the forum itself, it's always a much lower fee than what most weeklies pay out. Anyway, moving on.

Great work Cro2 and joker again, I think I won at least 2 rounds just by pure luck -- and having many similar guesses to the true Red LFC_Bitcoin.

And now it's a matchup to Chelski PotteOUTer Kai-lover Igebotz -- have to try keep pace with casper, so need a win here -- I see Div 2 and 3 have unbeaten players still!

Since tennis question is for fun, Ige, want to sidebet anyway on this pick? 1 mbtc, free money for you as I'm going to wing it Wink
1967  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 13, 2023, 06:43:36 PM
4 close scores all I managed. Not even enough for a slam point, boo. Yellow Cap attempt is not quite all it's made out to be heh.

Weird Arsenal celebration after dispatching Fulham: first team in English Football League history to win five consecutive London away derbies without conceding. I mean, I know London's full of teams and Fulham/Brentford v Arsenal aren't exactly big but I suppose a derby's a derby Wink

I was in the same position as you,I have totally screwed up in the Champions League, forgetting to put the picks several times and going with the defaults but even when I have put the picks there it was a disaster, first time for me playing there but I never expected to be this bad.

Quick off topic. I realised I also had def picks for UCL last round on early games, which is weird, I was sure I entered everything on time, doesn't make sense for me to skip the first half of games and enter scores for the next.

Not that I was losing a lot, but it's so tight there!

Unpopular opinion: Crash its way better than Mario. Close OT

1968  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: March 13, 2023, 04:38:26 PM
have to say taht I do not follow Calcio that close, but now seeing that CL fight is really interesting there
four teams for three places, and just Lazio took point this round, Milan yet to play against Salernitana, as they are relegation fighters, not CL teams

but relegation fight is non-existent, Cremonese and Sampdoria are already out, and Verona is pretty close to join them
Cagliari won after four draws in Serie B, but direct promotion is out of reach, play-off spot is best what they can do

Yep, that's why all the action is upper mid table. Not to keen to see Cagliari back, but haven't followed Serie A, much less Serie B, to know if they're worth it (they're not, duh).

I'm actually sitting back tonight and taking a break this week to recoup and try make sure I have enough funds to last me this month! Salernitana's my final ticket, though so if they hit, I might spam Napoli (boring).
1969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: March 13, 2023, 02:55:05 PM
Nice one Trofo man! I know we bet differently, but I really like seeing these 5-leg ones pass, especially with risky (to me) picks like Sevilla. You really think they're turning the corner?

I hope Buwaytress ticket was just Barcelona win too, and not perhaps a BTTS, Over or Handicap, which must have meant he also won his bet.

Yeah. Simple ML. The odds were interesting for me, thought it was great value with Lewie back in the lineup. It was one hell of a lucky win, though, from the reports I read, home fans were booing the refs and chanting for Barca relegation. I know the refereeing quality in La Liga has been abysmal but I'm not sure any of that's Barca's fault.

And how much did you bet, buway? Don't be afraid to share Wink If you say big bet, then I think of double digit mbtc at least like Trofo!

I know it is supposed to be for flow, but what is the point of playing on if a goal will be cancelled for foul/handball/offside right? I agree, we just need a draw but I want us to win next Clasico.

I'm a very, very casual player and let's just say most of my underdog bets are in the region of $5 (depending on BTC price), so you can imagine I if the odds are far lower, my stake kind of corresponds. Very good win for me, and a happy mistake to make, x10 my intended stake, but it wasn't really an important bet.

I'm also not a fan of VAR recalls for events that happened way before a goal.

The one that annoys me the most is obvious offsides or fouls that are allowed to play on, when refs should know a goal would require VAR recall anyway -- I do enjoy games being in flow but really hate to see that defenders and keepers have to put themselves in dangerous situations "in case the foul or offside isn't made".

Consistency again, is what we want. That's all.
1970  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which element of cryptocurrency do you think is tough to understand? on: March 13, 2023, 01:51:37 PM
That there are different ways to use them, some don't even require interacting with them (which is the majority of how people "use" them).

And that very little of that utility value is reflected in price.

But do you think do you will have a lot time to check every project's whitepaper? there's around 20,000 cryptos.

That's actually one of the easiest. There are a handful of white papers worth checking out (well, I like to think only one or two other than Bitcoin's but I haven't read them all). You'd be surprised to realise most new projects don't even bother coming out with one because they know they got nothing new to bring to the table.
1971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | FPL Football Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: March 13, 2023, 12:19:43 PM
Hey hey, FPL got me 53 points, which is slightly above global average (47) and still got DGW points to look forward to, but of course, am sure most of you guys and everyone else got it too.

Pretty cool to keep Gabriel on my defence, but Saka captaincy wasted, not to mention Robertson and Nunez hahaha.

And of course, Almiron gave a goal when he'd been banished from my team.

Now that you mentioned, I just realised Esports and Virtual Sports now have their own category on my left navigation menu. Seems like a big move, not sure if it'll make me catch on, but I'm happy sticking to my football-only betting in general.

1973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: March 12, 2023, 08:50:58 PM
Monaco had to accept defeat at home against Reims in today's match with a narrow score of 0-1. Statistically the two teams actually played a draw, but Reims took the lead through a goal scored by Balogun in the 51st minute and closed the victory for Reims until the game was over. With this result Monaco must remain in 4th place in the standings and only 3 points away from Lens.

I know I said it a while back, and I know I wondered if Monaco had given themselves a lifeline after beating PSG, and I know I said it's all over, but tonight, losing at home in this pathetic whimper, I'm going to say it might even be over for them in getting a UCL spot.

11 games to go, but now they need to win at least 10, and that's expecting either Lens or Marseille to lose at least 2. Not going to happen, unless they beat Lens next month.
1974  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: March 12, 2023, 07:38:20 PM
Valencia got a big win over Osasuna, and because this is a big win, one can conclude what a team status is, but hopefully Baraja will put our ship into mid-table region
with Gatusso or Voro, we would end up as draw last night, but now we are playing till last minute, and could even score second, but missed from a penalty spot

at least we are out from relegation zone

I started typing about Sevilla and Valencia, but nope, I'm not getting tricked. I do hope you're right and they're going on a win streak now to La Liga survival, though I'll be upset I won't be taking advantage of odds en route.

On the other hand, Sociedad and Villareal let me down today... and I have an unintentionally big bet (you know when you miss a decimal and your mind knows but your finger clicks confirm anyway?) on Barca to end my Sunday, so I hope they play well!

Here's the thing about Majestic 7 tho, it's freerolling a chance to win 10k which really should be or is +EV.  No matter how the odds are stacked against you, as long as the outlay is 0, you have nothing to lose and everything to win.  So it's an auto join for as long as they keep it up every match day of every season.

I've been pushing for something like this but for MMA...  I think with how the UFC is becoming more popular, some books could make their own Majestic 7 type freeroll to get everybody's attention.

It's +EV, no question! Anyone who needs explaining for that... the explanation's wasted on them.

You do know there is something similar for MMA on another book at this forum, though, right? I play it every time there's an event. Even managed to knock down some freebets there too. Picking the winner, though, rather than a scorer.

For you, how would a MajSev look like for MMA though? It'd have to be a count on something rare like a goal.
1976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: March 12, 2023, 05:45:41 PM
One match left for tomorrow is Norwich vs Sunderland.
To make it short I think that Norwich is going to win and they need points to get in playoff zone.
Both teams are missing some players but Norwich is in better form right now and odds are not bad at all.
My Bet: Norwich win.

Would have been the bet I'd be on too, sorry you didn't make this one either. Teemu managed to get himself a card, and now stretches his drought to 24 games without a goal.

I'd have totally backed him to be among top scorers at the start of the season -- he usually benefits from the yo-yo of EPL promotion/relegation but it appears the clock has truly run out on this guy...
1977  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you interpret the fluctuation of Bitcoin price ? on: March 12, 2023, 04:39:31 PM
Bad news is arguable =)

If you're a trader/speculator and you've got expiring long bets, sure.

If you're a DCA guy and you haven't met your target hoarding (hello, that's me), then it's more time and opportunity to get Bitcoin below $20k, knowing that's not going to last forever.
FUDs are always inevitable when Bitcoin suddenly drops its price, without understanding that bitcoin is highly volatile so it’s expected to see some price swings from time to time. However, seeing this sharp decline, I believe it’s even a bigger opportunity for long term hodlers to continue DCA while the price is now affordable. But for narrow minded investors, this will cause them panic and end up selling their bitcoin at a losing price.

I've said it before, but FUD isn't just inevitable, it's necessary (to me, anyway). I've got no problem with FUD, just the same way I don't really have a problem with FOMO. They come in equal measure, just not at the same time, and obviously are both retrospective kneejerks most of the time.

But we're talking about something a bit different here, and how to perceive this current period of price action. You can view it as bad news, and then it's FUD. Or you can view it as opportunity (dare I say that's FOMO?).
1978  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin go back to 19000 on: March 12, 2023, 03:35:03 PM
So yeah, clear as mud. Honestly didn't see it coming. Even with Powell's weird messaging on interest rate hikes, markets didn't immediately respond -- guess it took a while to sink it. Dollar's once more rising against euro and other currencies, and as expected Bitcoin's following suit.

So I think that's the cue for the next year or so. Dollar strength, and all reliant on what the Fed does.

The FED can't keep raising interest rates forever, else the economy would be entering a deep recession. At some point in the future, it's going to stop. That would be the moment for Bitcoin to go all the way to the moon. In the past few days, BTC went close to $19k but went back to $20k after USDC lost its peg.

I think we'll be able to see new lows for the cryptocurrency if the FED continues to increase interest rates through the course of the year. Maybe it'll go as low as $15k before bouncing back to its original market price? We can't expect any "bullishness" on the market until the next Bitcoin halving in 2024. That or the following year would be very exciting for those who bought BTC during the dip. Who knows if $100k becomes a reality soon? Just my thoughts Grin

We don't think the Fed can, but the reality is they can do whatever they want to do. Obviously, it can't go too crazy but even 0.75 points hike each quarter is not unthinkable -- and the theory from even last year from some economists actually was that the Fed wanted to create a recession (despite saying that's not what they want, actions speak loud).

And yeah, 2024 had always been the earliest we'd recover properly in my mind. Not sure why many people thought it'd be this year when we've barely spent a year coming down from ATH.
1979  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 12, 2023, 03:00:59 PM
So I kept thinking Casemiro would get a red soon after he finished his suspension... and then forgot all about it after he didn't even look close to getting it at the Liverpool game. Then he goes and does this to a relegation team...

Missed opportunity, as usual, I need to keep track of my "martingales" better.

JWP hit the wall from the resulting freekick. I'm sitting straight each time it comes as I took a special on him scoring from a FK, but I feel like United still going to take this game.

Grab your specials in before matches start in 13 minutes! JWP to score a freekick against United at 15/1 -- that's me Wink

Also took the freebet promo and that's me on over 1.5 goals by HT, not as ambitious as boltz.

Congrats on your win, @buwaytress! You are not showing the bet size, but something tells me that it wasn't a below $0.50 bet like I usually make. Smiley I think you won something good, I congratulate you on that.

Nah, I just don't want to embarrass myself. Believe me, if I ever do a Hhampuz size bet (for example), I'll be sharing it here. At least, that's how I feel right now. I suppose if I really were in that situation, I'd feel differently.

Southampton should have a nice super boost tomorrow, if so, I'll double down on my bet Wink
Optimistic bet, but you are hiding amount of money you bet on them so I hope you won't be disappointed a l lot if things go in your direction  Wink
If I was looking for surprise bet tomorrow in Premier League I would choose Newcastle vs Wolves and I am not sure if Arsenal is going to win so easy against Fulham.

My season's so bad already I'm just looking for bits of excitement here and there. All good, I'm still having fun!
