2901  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LocalBitcoins.com - a location-based bitcoin to cash marketplace on: November 09, 2013, 05:06:05 AM
Now that I started using wire trades, I ran into the problem that buyers are supposed to instantly get my bitcoins into escrow so using a simple formula doesn't cut it anymore if I want to protect myself against some wild swings.

Thank you but that's not really my point. The thousands of users should not have to dig into these details if the developers of LB can just give them maybe exactly what you came up with. Give the users to tweak some parameters and if that's not enough, let them play but give them some protection against some too stupid price movements. Some "pause advertisement on wild swings" checkbox would maybe be the easiest to understand.
They  seem  pretty much overwhelmed just keeping the site operational.

Your best bet is honestly to order to code it for them.

What charts are you looking at? The actual growth is almost double that!

The weekly weighted prices from here:

Indeed : 350/200=1.75
You're doing it wrong.

$316.23 crossed.

It's only been two days since the last milestone, which probably means at some point we'll have to cross it again.
2906  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 08, 2013, 11:58:26 PM
Honestly I'll be concerned if the current growth rate on the weekly chart continues for more than another week without some consolidation. In April we had two > 30% weeks followed by a 45% week before the crash.

Current week is +35% with one day left to go.
2907  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 08, 2013, 11:31:03 PM
Warning: Bitcoin just crashed to a new ATH on Mt Gox. The end times are upon us.
2908  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 08, 2013, 11:25:53 PM
Funny that they have the same sleeping habits as actual Chinese people in China.  Weird.
It must be the same imaginary traders who are eating that ask wall on Mt Gox right now.

Anybody here even slightly concerned when looking at the 2yr charts at bitcoinity?

Is there a link to the rest of that series?
Actually... I never wrote any more.

Probably should edit that post...
2911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finextra interview with IBM architect about Bitcoin on: November 08, 2013, 09:58:40 PM
a "government-controlled Bitcoin competitor" sounds like an oxymoron to me.
So is a government-controlled health insurance exchange site.

Didn't stop them from trying though.
2912  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Code review of standard client? on: November 08, 2013, 08:00:46 PM
Has there been a public, in-depth, 3rd party review of the standard bitcoin client?  I have experience with software engineering... an industry average is at least 1 bug per 1000 lines of code.  The bugs might be trivial or critical, easy to spot or hard to discern or activate.  I am NOT saying that the people who write bad code, but that programs are written by humans, and even the best of us make mistakes.
Talk to the people at Conformal Systems.

They wrote a reimplementation of the client in another programming language, so had to go through the code with a fine toothed comb to be able to discover and document all its quirks.
2913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finextra interview with IBM architect about Bitcoin on: November 08, 2013, 07:55:08 PM
The question is whether IBM is throwing its lot with Bitcoin, or if they are fishing for a federal contract to build a US Government-controlled Bitcoin competitor.

2916  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Inputs.io Is Gone I'm Calling It A Scam on: November 08, 2013, 06:50:28 PM
I buy from Coinbase because they are the most efficient way to purchase BTC in the US, and I move those coins to a wallet I control.
2917  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 08, 2013, 05:29:53 PM
Mt Gox needs to fix the BTC withdrawal issues so that people can pull coins out and sell on Coinbase. My local trading is less profitable when Coinbase prices are high.

[17:22:00] <SarahCoinBit> joesmoe: We are trying to resolve it as fast as possible, sorry for the delay
[17:22:15] <joesmoe> also have other transfers missing as well, but thats the oldest and
[17:22:18] <joesmoe> biggest thats missing
[17:22:44] <SarahCoinBit> joesmoe: Sorry, they are going through but it's taking time to fix each one
[17:23:14] PaulB0 [~PaulB0@gateway.genevasi.com] has quit IRC: Read error: Connection reset by peer
[17:23:39] Anduck [~Anduck@unaffiliated/anduck] has quit IRC: Ping timeout: 264 seconds
[17:23:57] <joesmoe> maybe they could fix them in priority of size?
[17:24:08] <Xialla> no
[17:24:12] <joesmoe> would be most logical in my opinion to take care of the more profitable traders before the less profitable ones
[17:24:18] <Xialla> no
[17:24:47] <joesmoe> obviously a dev's time is limited, and fixing things for larger transactions thus is more profitable in the long run fox gox
[17:24:59] <joesmoe> Should have to wait days for a 120 BTC transactions
[17:25:14] <joesmoe> should not*
[17:25:19] <joesmoe> Xialla: How long u been waiting?
[17:25:43] <SarahCoinBit> joesmoe: We are not showing any favoutism.  It is in our best interest to get them all fixed as soon as possible.  Cherrypicking which ones to fix would take much longer
[17:26:09] <joesmoe> funny because i notice most of the others who were waiting for multiple hundred BTC withdraws are no longer waiting, yet here I am...
[17:26:14] <SarahCoinBit> joesmoe: I'm very sorry you have had to wait
2919  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Would like to thank MtGox for making us rich on: November 08, 2013, 05:25:18 PM
You should thank China for the current exchange rates, not MtGox. Wink
Thank Roger Ver for getting the ball rolling by sparking interest in Chinese electronics exporters to accept Bitcoins instead of Dollars.
